#this started with wanting to talk about Hyrule and Time being adorable fairy kids

Fairy boys like playing with hair.
Hyrule and Time both absolutely love braiding hair and just being able to play with hair in general.
Time is very reserved about it, he only does it with Malone, and he used to fidget braid with his own hair when it was long, but he had to cut it because it kept getting snagged in his chainmail and armor. But often when one of the chain needs comfort and has turned to him for it sooner or later he ends up playing with their hair in some way as long as they're okay with it.
Hyrule however having much more fairy in his blood can not hide it. No one understands why he does this but they've all learned that it is inevitable and they can not escape it. Wild is the most child with it, especially if Hyrule is especially anxious that day he'll sit down and let Hyrule mess with his hair as much as he wants. Legend goes out of his way to keep all those cotton candy curls hidden in that hat but the second Hyrule does finally get ahold of him he absolutely melts.
When the first Zelda finally woke up she was to weak from having been asleep for so long. Her hair was extremely long and a lot to handle. But she trusted Hyrule enough to let him help her with it. Both Zeldas prefer his work over the royal hair dresser some days now that he's gotten really good at it because he's gentle.
Minish!Four is surprisingly meticulous about hair. Just like Hyrule no one really understands why. But it bugs him beyond understanding when some of his brothers end up getting their hair dirty and don't do anything about it. Hyrule and Wild are the worse with their hair getting all tangled up with twigs and grass and goddess knows what else because of rolling down hills or climbing into places they aren't supposed to. He's spent hours before trying to get all of the knots and things out of Hyrules unruly brown curls because despite how much the traveler does care about hair its just naturally a disaster.
Four is also always the one to help make sure the group all gets blood mud and anything else out of their hair especially before going into a village. Because if there's anything that shouldn't be there he will find it! But he will not let anyone touch his own hair. The single acception is Twilight but it is only when the big guy is helping him with his head aches, and Twilight is always careful not to get his hair tangled or tug at it.
Just in general wind loves playing with long hair because of his sister. So he understands the temptation!
At the start Warriors absolutely hates people touching his hair unless they're getting things out of it that he can't see or reach. But much like Four he'd let Twilight touch his hair if he had a headache. He slowly gets better with it as he grows closer with the group though.
Sky absolutely loves when people play with his hair. And he does know a bit of braiding because of his Zelda. But mainly he's just happy to sit there and let people do what they want with his. It'll put him straight to sleep sometimes especially when he's having a hard time sleeping.
Legend doesn't like it because he's used to being teased about the colors but he's got a lot of fluff hiding under that hat and it's one of the softer textures too. He just doesn't like people pulling at it in any way or poking fun so he prefers to snap at them per usual. But he can't say no to Hyrule. And Four and twilight are the only other ones he'll let near it.
Twilight has a bit of a sensitive scalp but like the dog that he is absolutely loves when people play with it. He just gets nervous when it's a length thats easy to grab. But once he trusts the chain and as long as they're gentle he doesn't mind it. None of the people in his village have very long hair at least not the people he's comfortably close with. So he doesn't know anything about braiding, but Uli has taught him how to do scalp massages that he has completely mastered so he's very gentle and loves petting other people's hair as much as he loves it when they do it with him.

Note
Hero!reader being close to wild is kinda like how twilight is close to time. But I’m not here to ramble about that in this one, at least not in this post.
But there are a few nicknames that hero!reader would call members of the ghost!chain.
Wild is gramps
They chose violence against him on a personal level
Aka they heard several stories through their grandparents about the hero of the wilds “antics” so to speak
Time is old man
They stuck with the nickname
And calls him time or Sir out of respect
They look up to Time as some sort of leader
Twilight is pawpaw
This is just a personal thing but pawpaw gives that bit of a country vibe that I feel captures him at least as best as it could
When talking to their actual grandparents they refer twi as “pawpaw number two” which the people in the village laugh over and find adorable as a kid
Wars is Captain America
Four’s nickname started out as a joke but he’s known as the “quad father” (absolutely not cause mush is head empty full of memes) hero!reader knows about the colors/ four sword and calls each one by their respective names
Wind would still be called wind/ windy or just be called squirt
Windy started out as a nickname and once hero!reader grew taller they called him squirt
Wind absolutely hates being called squirt so he messes with em through,,,,small pranks around the house
Sky is known as pops, cause he just gives the vibe
Occasionally little hero!reader dubbed him “sir sleeps a lot” but grew out of it as they got older
“Sir sleeps a lot” is still used but only in a joking manner
Legend is known by Vet or bunny
5yr old hero!reader found out through twi that he was the fluffy rabbit and the nickname stuck ever since
Hero!reader inevitably finds out about ravio and stops calling Legend bunny once they hear a description of him
Legend still gets called bunny but only if hero!reader is tired and groggy enough to not register the nickname
Hyrule is known as fairy or fae
Fairy hyrule was the best thing that hero!reader ever saw and proceeded to go nuts calling him “fairy man”
“Fairy man”!eventually went to “fairy” which just devolved into fae
Hero!reader only calls him by these unless they’re actively crying for comfort as to where they’d call him Hyrule or if it’s serious enough “Link”
With all of the chain they’d scream Link to get some form of protection from any lingering evil presence (such as let’s say ganon or a form of malice)
This gets a certain reaction and commits the chain to immediately get back to hero!reader
Idk what else to add so feel free to go nuts and add onto whatever you want to it
-mushroom 🍄
Wars is Captain America- that got me. I'll admit it, I probably laughed louder than I should have. XD
Sky being called pops is so cute. Like he's an old man who sits on the front porch on the rocking chair, just watching the birds fly by.
Wind could also be Pirate or Captain- since at this point he would be older, right? Unless you mean he died young too and then it still a kid in regard to the Chain. :(
Having Wind and Warrior trying to one up each other to be the better captain is funny though.

The moment they realized they loved you. (Isekai Au Edition) Part 3
If you want more information on this AU here is the Link!
Hyrule:
- It confusing and full of yearning.
- The Fae Folk are very affectionate in nature. Physical touches and platonic kisses are just normal. Hyrule growing up briefly with them had adopted this habit.
- You are like that as well so you’re the one to take care of Hyrule when he wanted affection. Since other then Legend, it’s awkward to ask the others.
- He finds however while he still asks/gives you affection. He gets more flustered and embarrassed when you initiated contact.
___________________________________
Admittedly Hyrule never had a clear understanding of Hylian social norms. Some things were easy to pick up when he was just traveling by himself. However, there was a lot that conflicted with Fae social norms. While yes, the Fae were more mischievous and could be borderline malicious, they are very affectionate creatures. Which was the one of many things Hyrule picked up when he was being raised by the Great Fairy.
Before you join the chain, he had to hold himself back from being overly affectionate with the group. Yes, when he had chances, he would give a quick side hug or ruffling of the hair for the younger Link’s. But nothing on the level of cuddles or small peaks on the cheek and forehead. You though! You were the one to lay the affection on everyone thick. Most if not every Hero has melted from all the complements and physical affection.
Hyrule was living his best life now with you! Cuddles are a must for the two of you. Especially when one another has been having a rough day. You’ve also gotten the others involved with this newly formed ritual. He just over all feeling comfortable and loved.
Which then leads to Hyrule’s issue. Slowly he began to feel embarrassed with every peak after he heals you. Then his heart begins to race when he is cuddled up resting his head against your chest. Even holding your hands became hard for him to stand! It felt so warm but also made him fearful. He was scared of losing you. Losing this warmth. This comfort. He wanted to keep it but scared that this feeling was to good for him.
“-and that’s what happen so far.” He was visiting the Great Fairy Cotera of Wild’s Era. He had visited her each time they visited Kakariko. Cotera gently hummed messing with his hair. “What should I do?” He looks up to the giantess worriedly. His small sisters surround him ether sitting on top of him or by his side.
Their mother hummed as she thought about his problem. “My dear sweet child.” She started after a long pause “this human… do you feel different compared to your other friends? Or with your siblings in the forest?”
Hyrule thought about it after a while shook his head. “No… I did used to feel embarrassed with the others but it was different. This is more… warm?”
“Warm?” She urges him gently to continue. “Do you hate it?”
“No…” he sounded like a child, fidgeting in his seat “I hate how anxious it makes me now.” You meant a lot to him. Hyrule knew you meant a lot to everyone too, but that normal! You’ve helped them all in some sort of way! Yet he was deep in that unidentifiable emotion towards you. He adores you. All of you. Even during your more impulsive actions he didn’t mind having to heal you. Of course, he would truly rather not heal anyone with his magic. Yet… with you giving his payment in kisses on the cheek or forehead… he can’t stay mad at you.
“Chin up little one.” Cotera lifted up his head “your feelings are valid and has a simple explanation.” Hyrule pouted slightly making her giggle a bit tapping lightly on his nose. “You my dear seem to love your sweet human.”
It was like a lanterned was just lit in a dark cave he was wandering in. Finally revealing a path out. Everything thing slowly explaining itself. “Oh…” was all he could say as he was comprehending it. His sisters were giggling at their brother’s expense causing him to blush. It all made to much sense.
“Roolie! Are you nearby?” He and the Great Fairy both perk up when they heard your voice. He stared up at the Great Fairy expectingly.
“Well?” Cotera nudged him off of the petals of her fountain. “What are you waiting for little one?”
___________________________________
- Well, that was embarrassing and he knows once he starts perusing you. The more his siblings of the forest will start to tease him. Not only that but the chain also catches on pretty quickly.
- He becomes a blushing and stuttering mess around you, not pulling away from your touch but leaning more into him.
- It will be a miracle if he confesses but he will! And he will do it in a more intimate manner though, with or without help.
___________________________________
Four:
- It took long to accept but filled with soft cotton fluff.
- Isn’t canon in the manga that the colors (minus Vio) straight up try to impress a girl they just met?
- Now I’m not saying he is like that now a days, but old habits die hard right. He probably doesn’t even recognize that he still does it.
- Honest to God the resident brain cell is the only one that new point blank what was happening. Having a “not again” moment.
___________________________________
It’s been a while since Four was back in his forage. He missed every second of it. The smithing process was the one hobby each color had in common. As Link they found it relaxing, something to get their mind off of things.
That morning was no different. Traveling on the road was stressful even for a seasoned adventurer. Traveling alone was boring which was the upside according to Red. It relieved them of responsibility Green was used to taking upon himself to carry. Blue was at least a lot calmer with having to be on alert all the time. Vio had pointed out this was mainly because of You.
The chaos came back full force. The same argument has been happening recently, it was about his feelings towards you. Now they all liked you as a friend. Four knew that for a fact. He was only six when he felt your presence and this situation, he was in was as if an imaginary friend became real! At least that’s what Red felt.
No matter if they were unified or separated, Four could trust you to help him out of even the messiest situations. So, what if some of those situations were caused by him trying to impress you? That doesn’t mean anything!
Just because Blue became a stuttering mess when you surprised Four with a flower crown just meant he was taken aback at your kindness! He isn’t good at showing his emotions. Yeah, so what about Green becoming a soft mess when you first showered him in praise and affection. Wouldn’t any person do that from someone that been through hell and back with them? It doesn’t count that Red craves your affection! He is like that with everybody and just because it makes him feel different it doesn’t count. Someone saves Vio from this.
Four was conflicted which is why he was working so early in the morning. They wouldn’t shut up about their own feelings. It was a chaotic mess inside his head as soon as he woke up. A weight on his back clued him back into reality “Good morning!” You while looking down at him smiling still holding on lazily. “How is the most beautiful person here doing?”
Ah. There goes most of composure out the window. Vio was the last one standing with Green and Blue almost hanging on. You loved to tease him and he was never able to get you back. “Don’t know how are you?” Four was really struggling to keep unified and calm. He was shaking because of the other three’s nerves. You stared at him wide eyed.
“Jeez look at you!” You give him a squeeze before finally let go of him “you’ve grown! If only you were that smooth towards Erune.” You teased.
The blush he was so desperately trying to beat down started to flare up this time out embarrassment. “Can we not talk about that?” Four could only cringe when he thought back at that bit in his adventure. Him and Erune have been close friends since then, but the colors were really trying to play the hero in front of the poor girl back then. Their antics truly were really not impressing anyone.
Green was really happy he grew out of it. Seriously it‘s not like Blue really cared about it anyway he was just a kid! Red was just happy that he got a long-term friend out of it! The audacity the others had was killing Vio. They are still just as bad and it seems like no one was listening to reason.
An explosion of emotions and thoughts collided in Four’s skull. Three denying their logical side’s claim all while getting thrown every instant in their faces by the odd one out. “Whatcha making anyway?” You were observing the short knife blade curiosity not seeing the other’s internal debate. Vio felt like he had to spell it out to each of them. Pulling up memories of their actions towards the outlander. Four struggled to focus on what you were saying but it was too loud!
“Woah there.” You turn him away from his project letting it sit safely on a cooler section of the work top. “Breath Link.” You where kneeling down in-front of him holding his hand. He focused on your warmth. The way you rubbed small circles on the back of his hand. On your voice that instructed him to breathe. In for four, hold for seven, let out for eight. Repeat. Slowly the divide melded back together. Soon the voices faded out. “There we go.” You whispered “good job Link.” Four stared back at you still tired from everything but nonetheless happy that your here with him.
Man, he loved you so much.
Wait-
___________________________________
- It was definitely an I told you so moment.
- Four as a whole though is still struggling to come to terms with it, even though he had already admitted his feelings.
- Another case of: drown him in affection until he realized. Not because of him not believing you! It’s just you have four people in a trench coat here! If one is conflicted then four as a whole will feel that subtly.
___________________________________
Bonus (just Headcanons):
Wind (finding out that a Link has a crush on you)
- The little gremlin is going to have a field day! He was thinking about messing around but the other hero is doing his work for him!
- The only one saved from this Black Mail harvest is you. He does have a few things but you mostly let him off the hook when he gets in trouble anyway sooooo…
- Not the best wing man but he honestly isn’t trying. He is just enjoying the journey.
- He might be tempted to help if he was asked but there isn’t much he could do. You are his right hand after all! Why would he let your secrets go so easily?
- Imagine Wind just vibes with you when the other Link is trying their best and you literally ask if the other hero was ok since they are acting weird around you. It would take Wind a minute to get an answer because all he is thinking is: ‘are you dense?’
- Or on the flip side. If you know about their feelings. He would definitely be on board of helping you out. Again, you’re his right hand! Of course, he’ll help you! (Favoritism)
- Wind: “Don't worry. He likes your butt and fancy hair. I know. I read their diary.” (Y/n): “He thinks it's fancy?”
(Part 1) and (Part 2)
My First Request is now done :D! That was fun. Thank you Pinky and Star for the request <3

* . day to night , dark to light     fall the  s a n d s  o f  t i m e .
{ ross lynch, twenty-one, trans male, he/him } Have you seen ZELD CYELN “CIEL” NOHANSEN walking around?  Little do they know, they’re the child of LINK & PRINCESS ZELDA from THE LEGEND OF ZELDA, and they HAVE TWO SIBLINGS ( one older, one younger ) .  I guess that explains why they’re so CHARMING & ARTISTIC and GUARDED & INSECURE.  They are a STREAMER. — penned by eve.
FIRST THINGS FIRST.
Hello hello again , folks !! It’s EVE and if you thought I went completely feral about Resident Evil earlier you are . . . sorely mistaken because now we are in Zelda territory and Zelda encompasses literally every fiber of my being. This OC is my most beloved ( despite the fact he’s an absolute prick ) and I have been itching to write him as a next-gen of Zelink , so VOILA , but just a few things !!
I love The Legend of Zelda . . . a lot. That’s the first thing. And my friends call me the Zelda lorekeeper since I know pretty much everything about the games like that back of my hand.
Another - as it’s always been a fact about his character , Ciel here is diagnosed with Type II Bipolar. Now , I want to clarify that I also am the same , and he was originally written as a comfort character to sorta see myself in a character I wrote ( and he became his own dude over the years. ) It’s not something that’ll pop up often , but I just wanted to let y’all know since I’m not gonna erase my own rep , I write from experience since I’m the same.
TWS AHEAD : Manipulation , mental illness
I. THE PAST - DO YOU REMEMBER ??
The second of The Hero & The Princess - Prince Zeld Cyeln Nohansen , carrying on the traditional naming conventions to keep the name Zelda in the family with obvious corruptions. Your older brother could not - and AS WELL , you are the only child in the family that possesses the holy powers of the royal bloodline that your mother carries , as shown by the brand of the Triforce on the back of your right hand. And immediately , expectations are thrust upon your shoulders before you can even walk.
It’s because of your power that you , instead of the eldest , are to succeed the throne as the next king of Hyrule once you become of age , and although your mother vows to not treat you the same as your father treat her , she often reminds you that the beautiful , sunlight-bathed kingdom will be yours.
So you grow. You grow & you adapt to the life of royalty , the CROWN PRINCE , and your relationship with your parents is better than most. While you’re significantly closer to your mother than your father , spending your days in the library with her & learning how to paint her visage , you also follow your father out to scope the kingdom on horseback. You grow up kind & gentle , the intelligence of your mother but the softness of your father , and it is well-known throughout the kingdom that you are DESTINED for good things.
It’s when you’re fourteen years old that you meet a boy.
A boy your age , a boy who smiles at you and you get fairies fluttering in your stomach. A boy who tells you that you’re pretty and by Nayru are you getting your first crush ??
Hm.
But you can’t see through the lies - that even though you’re young , manipulation knows no age and you are heartbroken to find that this boy leads you to a group of bandits that go on the attack and aim to STEAL the raw power you carry. After you’re tricked into bringing magical artifacts to their clutches , that is , that your family has gathered over the years - the goddess harp , the ocarina of time , and the cursed , wicked Majora’s Mask.
Your father sweeps into rescue you , and although you feel guilty , you aren’t berated for your mistakes. He only wants to know what happened , and if you’re alright , and you’re a sobbing mess but you tell your parents everything and they recognize that the evil forces that plagued them are NOW targeting their offspring.
You are only fourteen. But the betrayal turns you cold , and you close yourself off , now hesitant to trust. And you learn that there are DANGEROUS forces out there who want to hurt & use you in the same way , hence why you use your mother’s old study connected to her old bedroom ( now currently yours ) and you begin to research , research , research. You look back on the legends of old , and start practicing the magic of not only your bloodline , but the taboo power of shadow - such as that of the TWILI , a project aiming to recreate the mirror. You also use the mask , hoping to tap into the wicked power it carries to turn it around. You train with the Sheikah , as Sheikah blood runs in your veins as well , to master the art of using the shadows & the unseen to your advantage. You become a teenager devoted to your work - a mad scientist & magician , and the whispers of a ‘ mad alchemist prince ’ sweep throughout the kingdom due to the rumors you can stay awake for DAYS working on one thing , before crashing and moving onto the next.
But there is still pain - a loneliness & a hurt which you try to bury deep down , but it’ll still consume you to the point where you don’t know how to think clearly. You try and mask yourself best you can , but there is still a little boy , deep down , who only wishes to be loved and cared for and cherished by people his own age. Your work is your comfort but you are also learning to sink yourself in it to the point where it’s becoming a hindrance.
One day , maybe , you’ll get what you want - and everything will be okay. But the world is currently at your throat , so . . . how long will that be ??
Your sixteenth year changes everything. The Crown Prince goes missing , and he is lost without the comfort of his parents.
And he awakens in another day , as a new being , with only his wit & his charm to carry on.
II. PRESENT - WHO ARE YOU , YOURSELF ??
Okay so IN A NUTSHELL Ciel is the crown prince of Hyrule due to the fact he’s essentially the ‘Zelda’ of his generation - the only child that carries the sacred power of the goddess Hylia , and this kid is incredibly smart and artistic but due to being manipulated by dark forces when he was young , he’s EXTREMELY insecure and lacks trust , instead trying to become as powerful as possible by any means possible so he isn’t hurt again since now he’s a target like his parents were.
HIS CHARACTER . . . is incredibly complex. It doesn’t change much with or without memories because even though he hasn’t experienced that same shit , those trust issues & insecurities are still well-embedded into him. The main difference is that he’s still smart , but not because of excessive research on Hyrulean magic & history & technology.
ON THE SURFACE , Ciel appears to be honestly very exuberant , quick-talking , and , to some , annoying. He’s a bit of a loudmouth , he seems harmless in the aspect that he isn’t downright mean or anything , he’s just . . . a nuisance. Charming in the aspect that he knows how to talk his way out of any situation since he has a MOUTH on him , but he knows how to use it. He overshares , it seems , but in turn , he’s actually not revealing anything about himself of any importance. He’s just keeping his cards to his chest but he doesn’t anyone to see so , so he places counterfeit cards on the table.
Ciel is always one step ahead , and the best way to be is to convince everyone else that you’re far behind.
NOW ON THE INSIDE . . . Ciel is extremely caring & gentle. He cares a lot about the people he loves , but he’s hesitant to open up or trust other people given the fact he doesn’t want to be hurt , and he doesn’t want to make mistakes. He’s very observant & again , incredibly intelligent , knowing well how to read the atmosphere and pick out things that most don’t notice. He is insecure in the fact that he constantly thinks horribly of himself , and although he’s great at hiding it , it’s easy to get his feelings hurt. He hates that he has to keep on a mask since it makes him easily unlikable , but he thinks it’s the only way to stave off the most damage. But he’s a good kid & has a heart of gold , it’s just that . . . his heart has a few booboos on it. He CRAVES love & validation & affection but he’s afraid to ask for it or to take it since he’s gone down worse roads before by opening up to the wrong people.
He’s an artist - very talented in drawing & painting !! His apartment is littered with sketches & drawings and supplies and he would’ve gone to art school but money is tight and he doesn’t know he’s a prince in his actual reality so . . . yeah.
But his day job is that he’s a VERY popular video game streamer named Alchemyst , mainly doing let’s plays of adventure games & stuff with friends to get a good laugh. He also has a tendency to go on hilarious rants in a lot of his videos , resulting in MANY fanmade compilations & memes. He’s got a dedicated fanbase that he openly adores , and streaming also sorta helps him since he is a bit afraid of going into the outside world slightly.
It’s funny , because as a streamer , he isn’t at all obnoxious or annoying - it’s the closest he gets to acting like himself , even if he has to act a little more EXTROVERTED than he actually is.
THAT’S THE BASIS again , much more of a show than tell character but . . . Love him. I love him.
I DON’T have much ideas for wanted connections at this point aside from like . . . friends , exes , crushes , enemies , fans of his stream , etc. When I get more of a braincell I’ll put specific stuff down , but if it HELPS his fake life is shrouded in mystery bc Ciel doesn’t like talking about it ( aka , his fake past was p bad so he just prefers to act like he came out of fucking nowhere. )
But that’s it !! I’ll b responding to starters & calls soooon ~ ! I am ALL for plotting if u guys want , so just hit me up on here or Discord n I’ll respond as soon as I can !!

Filling the Emptiness: Ch 7. Destiny Fulfilled
Leere stood by the kitchen sink, splashing herself with water. She couldn’t believe it. She was able to look at herself without fear of the future. And that scared her. The paradox was maddening. Her wedding was today. The last of her guests had arrived yesterday. Zarazu had sent so many dragons to pick up those that lived far away from Hyrule for this occasion. Leere’s list included her band mates, her family and extended family, and old colleagues, and the families of those who had died in her life. She wanted them to know she never forgot about them.
A knock came at her door. Rinku, who never wore dresses under usual circumstances, had a pretty green dress just for this occasion. As her best man, Rinku felt it was her duty to supply Leere with all the courage she’d need to get through the day. “Hey. You’re looking a little green under the gills.”
“As opposed to you being green all over? Worried that I’ll grow wrinkles from stress?”
“What, like me? I’m only starting to let those sink in.” Both of them chuckled as Leere looked back into the mirror. Her adoptive sister patted her back. “You ready for this?”
“….I am. I’m tired of being alone. Let’s fill that hole properly.”
“That’s my Leere.” Rinku took her hand and the two of them left for the dressing room. Sunny and her family were preparing on the East Wing, Leere and her family in the West. The plan was for the two brides to walk down on two separate ends towards each other. Upon arriving in her dressing room, Kanisa, Orana and Tebanam were ready for her. Kanisa was so excited to see her gothic sister have such a grand, almost fairy tale wedding.
“Oh Leere. The dress you picked out is simply wonderful. Has flair. I think your loved one is going to be so happy. You’re perfect dear.”
The dress Kanisa was referring to was a beautiful white dress with markings traced in the dress. Leere slipped the fingerless gloves onto her hand and examined them. The top of her hands held the design of the triforce, with diamond designs going down the arm. As Kanisa took note of, the dress was puffy, with a long trail of cloth. Leere didn’t think she’d ever be the type, and yet, it’s what she wanted in the end, able to fulfill her childhood dream. The dress sparkled, like stars. Her sisters and brother helped her get dressed into it. “It’s a little tight.”
Orana gave her a thumbs up. “You fit perfectly into it. You’re so pretty Leere.”
Tebanam added to the pep talk, adjusting the ruby collar around Leere’s neck. “You deserve this moment.
Leere felt a light blush, appreciative of the comments. “Thank you.”
Covarog gave a knock at the door, with Ralnor flanking him. He was incredibly impressed seeing Leere in such a dress. “Wow. Great work you guys. Can I get a hug?”
“Of course you can.” Leere practiced walking towards her brother with the weight of the dress and wrapped her arms around him.
“Glad to see you in high spirits. Here.” Covarog handed Leere a bouquet of blue hydrangea flowers for Leere. “Zarazu had Zizi grow these up for you. We thought some theming would be appropriate.”
Leere was amazed by the vibrant light colour of the flowers. Smelling them, she relaxed. “Thank you. That’s incredibly kind.”
Ralnor raised an eyebrow, seeing Leere’s hair was little tussled from putting the dress on. “Leere, stand still for a moment.” Reaching for a brush, he quickly settled her wild hair down. Towering over his tiny sister had its perks, as he was able to reach everywhere without asking her to sit down. “Where would you be without us?”
“Going down the aisle with messy hair.”
“Exactly. But now, you don’t need to. There you are.”
Rinku checked a watch, and snapped her finger. “Alright. Places. We need to be ready in our positions and have you go down the red carpet in ten minutes.”
Leere took deep breaths. How she wanted to see her lover. “Well then, I better take my place. All of you… thank you. Thank you for all your support over the years.”
Leere held a group hug with all her siblings, telling herself not to cry. The five Gerudo siblings were like a protective wall, with Rinku and Leere softly in the middle. Rinku smiled softly, using a finger to wipe away a single tear forming on Leere’s face. “And we’ll always be with you. Till the end of line.”
The Mortuus held her head against Rinku’s and softly smiled, closing her eyes. As her siblings held each other close, Leere thought about all good times ahead of her. She was casting off her shell of misery and hardships. As they all let go, Leere looked to each one, seeing the happiness every Gerudo and Hylian had on their face. It was time. “Thank you.”
Walking to her destination, Leere waited behind one of the towers for her father to walk her down the aisle. As she waited, she heard scratching come from one of the tower windows. Looking up, she saw an old friend, hissing with delight at her. “Bonegrinder thinks he hasn’t seen such a pretty dress on an even prettier woman in a long time.”
Leere chuckled, glad to see he showed up for her wedding. “I see you have a comfortable view from the tower.”
“Oh yes. Bonegrinder would never miss out on your big day. Rumor has it that you have a little one on the way.”
“That we do. Sunny has something going on in the tummy.”
“Babies don’t come from the stomach?”
“Bonegrinder… it’s a figure of speech.”
“Ah. Apologies.” Bonegrinder sensed someone coming. “Anyways, you go have the best experience of your life. Bonegrinder will throw a party in your honour in the Underground.”
“Oh? I thought you didn’t do parties.”
“Well, today is cause for celebration. We won’t do it for long, but I’m sure my children would want to celebrate in their own way.”
“Thank you for being my friend Bonegrinder.”
As Bonegrinder slithered away, Leere looked around, expecting Ganondorf, when she saw a person covered in bandages with a long flowing braid. They wore sheikah robes, and had an air of elegance about them. If it wasn’t for their silver hair aged by time, it would be their voice that gave them away. “It’s been a long time since I took this look for you.”
“Mom?!” Leere couldn’t believe Zelda had shown up as Sheik. “What are you doing wearing that? What’s happened to father?”
“Your father sprained his back, running around excited for your wedding. I just had Malik rest him in the chairs next to the alter. And I knew it was tradition for a father to walk you down. So why not the first male figure that helped lead you out of the dark…”
“…and into the light.” Leere felt her soul sore freely. Her mother cared so deeply for her.
“You’ve been through darkness. Terror. And pain. But through all of that you have grown. And you never turned into the darkness that haunted you. The woman I see before me is no longer scared. No longer feels alone. Your ballad is one of peace and serenity now. You are a daughter of shadow, but does not make you dark. You are adopted from the light. You are about to marry the sun that fills that light. May the shadows that surround you only leave you feeling cooled, and content. You are my Leere. My precious daughter. And I’m so, so proud of you.”
“Mom…” Leere threw her arms around Zelda, hugging her deeply. Her mom indeed always had some words of wisdom for her.
“Don’t cry dear. Those tears are for your wife to be.”
Leere nodded, allowing her mother to lock arms with her. Walking to the door of the garden courtyard, they opened it up, and stepped down the path. Music from her band played, using the organ and beautiful harps to set the mood. Hundreds of people had gathered for both the newly weds to be. As Leere got closer, she saw the woman that was the architect of her love.
Sunny was wearing a stunning dress to match Leere. Her collar instead held a dazzling sapphire, and she carried red roses. Both women couldn’t help but laugh internally, as they each held the others colour of flower that would match each other. If Leere’s dress sparkled like the stars, Sunny’s glowed like the sun. The beauty of each other made the other tear up. They quickly had to blink to stop crying, overwhelmed by the joy of this day. Finally, the met each other face to face, and Zelda and Sunny’s father handed them off.
The music died down and Zelda took her seat next to Ganondorf, undoing her head gear. Next to Sunny and Leere, were Rinku and Galaxia as their bridesmaids. Down the central lane came little Skyla. She was tossing pellets everywhere, and finally, arriving to her aunt, held the ring box up she had been holding onto. Leere loved how adorable Skyla was as their little ring bearer. The pastor at the alter smiled to the couple. “If you’d please, take your rings from the ring bearer and place them on your hands.”
Sunny and Leere did just that, placing the other ring on their respective lover’s hand. Leere made a sign language of ‘thank you’ with her moon ring on her finger to Skyla. The little girl sign language back, ‘Your welcome. I love you.’ With that, she ran down to sit in Faris’ lap.
“We are gathered here today, to bring together two women in holy union under the eyes of the goddess Hylia, and all the holy spirits of the world. Sunny Ingo, leader and prosperous worker of Hyrule. And Leere Dragmire, Hero of Hyrule.” Leere didn’t expect to be called hero. Why did everything conspire to make her cry tears of joy? The pastor continued, gesturing to Sunny. “Sunny Ingo. Do you love Leere Dragmire? Do you wish to be by her side, and keep her warm in your coldest nights. Do you take her hand in marriage?”
“I do.” Sunny’s smile burned like the fire of the gods, indeed keeping Leere warm. She squeezed Leere’s hands, thinking of nothing except a bright future.
“And do you, Leere Dragmire, love Sunny in return and ask her hand in marriage? To give her only dreams and hope? To live out the last of your days with her?”
“I do.” Leere felt that the future had everything worked out for her.
“Does anyone object to this union?” Not a peep from the audience. Skull Kid thought about shooting a water balloon at Leere, but decided against it. He could always get her tomorrow. “Then without further ado, I pronounce you wives. You may kiss the bride.”
Leere leaned up, with Sunny holding her close, and both of them kissed intimately. The crowd of people cheered, throwing flowers into the air, hollering and clapping. Ganondorf was wiping his eyes, and all the siblings of Leere and Sunny were so proud of them. Leere and Sunny, now wives, broke off the loving kiss, and looked into each others eyes. Life was going to be ok.
~
The area was quickly cleared, and everyone set up tables for partying and celebration. Leere got on stage, tapping the microphone. “Hello? Everyone? I just want to say, before we get started, I just want to say, from the bottom to the top of my heart, thank you. Thank you for standing by me. I know for a fact, I wouldn’t be here without you all. Fighting the monsters is the easy part. It was living with being a survivor that was the hardest part. But now, I’m at a point in my life where I don’t have to be that. I just get to live. So thank you. Now with that out of the way.” Leere strummed her electric guitar. “Let’s get this reception started!”
Leere and her band played a sweet song of love and fun in the sun. Once she sang her heart out to the crowd for the opening act, Leere stepped down and allowed her band to play some more. The instrumental consisted of trumpets, flutes, drums, and the slow strum of a guitar. Leere found herself on the dance floor, and met Sunny for their first dance. They spun, laughed, and moved together gracefully. The sun shined with glory on the two, keeping each other warm.
Rinku interjected after the couple had a few dances. “Hey, sis. Everyone is gathering for photos. You two want to join up? I mean, if you’re too busy undressing each other with your eyes, I understand.”
“Sunny, welcome to the extended family. Such a joy.”
“I know you’re being sarcastic in your use of the word, but I believe joy is exactly the right term to use. Unironically. It’s how feel about our future going forward. How’d you feel about that?”
“Feel about what?”
“Calling our daughter Joy?”
Leere tilted her head, a twinkle in her eye. “That’s a beautiful name. But what if it’s a boy?”
“I have faith that the gods can’t the pass the perfect combination of two women like us into a little girl.”
“God. Such the optimist. I adore that about you.”
Rinku watched awkwardly as the two kissed deeply. Rolling her eyes, she shook her head. “Ok now. We have all day to do that later.”
Sunny and Leere giggled, and walked with Rinku to their respective families. Sunny’s father and Ganondorf were having a respectful conversation of how they once each led their business and kingdom respectively. Sunny’s brothers and along with Covarog and Tebanam shared embarrassing stories of their sisters, having laughter spread amongst them. Luna was seeking advice from Kanisa and Orana on how to raise more than one child, and Galaxia and Ralnor quietly talked about how they hoped their sister’s future would play out.
Once the brides arrived, congratulations were given to both of them. Rinku motioned both the women together. “First things first. The lovely brides. Smoosh you love birds.”
Leere and Sunny obliged. They took pictures kissing, holding hands, leaning against each other for support, and even made silly gestures. Sunny smiled fondly. “You know. It’s nice to have pictures of the three of us.”
“Three of us?”
“You, me, and our little bundle of joy growing inside.”
Leere settled on the final picture, holding Sunny’s stomach fondly. “Yeah. I suppose so.”
“Hey sis. Get your pretty butt over hear and show off why you’re the most photogenic.” Apollo called over to Sunny. With a grin, she got close to her family for a group shot. Sunny felt that this day was the happiest moment of her life by far.
After her photos were done, Rinku handed Sunny the camera. “I’ll be sure to get all your good sides.”
“Hey now, all our sides are good.”
Leere patted her sisters back, joining with the rest of her family. Leere was in front, with Zelda and Rinku flanking her left and right. Kanisa and Orana squeezed in right behind them. Then Covarog, Ralnor, Tebanam, and Ganondorf surrounded them all. Everyone squeezed in tight, smiling with excitement. Leere was with her family. She was married. At long, long last, she had found peace. No more monsters to hunt. No demons in the dark. And no one dying on her watch. She found the perfect balance in her life. She filled the emptiness in her soul. She got all the good photos in before tears of gratitude came down her face. “I love you all so much.”
~ Five Years Later
Leere sat down, reading a book, when she heard the bounding thunderous steps of tiny feet jump up to her. Her daughter, Joy, smiled fondly up at her mother. “Momma says you have to come eat dinner now and have birthday cake.”
“Does she?” Leere set her book down and smiled happily at her daughter. Ruffling her dark hair, Leere scooped Joy up. “You do know that, because it’s your birthday, I get to have 25% of your cake. That’s the tax I get for bringing you into this world.”
“Noooo. Momma brought me into this world.”
“But I helped. I’m thinking that the crime of sass means I get to have an additional slice.”
“No. You want to know why?”
“Why’s that?”
“I love you a million.”
Leere showed surprise. “Wow. A million. That’s new number for you. A million what?”
“A million love.”
Leere felt her heart flutter, and slowly smiled. “Holy cow. That is a lot of love.”
Arriving at the table, she sat her daughter down at the table. Sunny finished baking a chocolate cake that said ‘May 5th. The Biggest Joy in Life Came to Be.’ “Good job dear. It’s not an easy task wrangling your mom from a good book.”
“Well, she got me good. Costed a million love.”
“A million?”
“Yep.”
Leere and Sunny shared a kiss, cooking up some potato soup to have first before cake. They looked down at their daughter, who smiled back to them with a twinkle in her eyes. They made this life work for them. It brought them so much peace. Joy swung her feet back and forth under the table fondly. “Mommy. Momma?”
“Yes dear?”
“Can we go look at the stars after food?”
Leere looked to her wife and shrugged in good humour. “I don’t know. You have your P.J’s cleaned?”
“Yes.” Joy said, matter of factly.
Leere looked to her wife, serving her daughter soup and each woman taking their seat. “I think we have an activity than after dinner.”
“That we do I reckon.”
Each of them looked to each other, and without words, exchanged the peace they felt with their eyes. They did good. They found their happiness, and most importantly, to Leere, she did right by making her daughter never know what emptiness felt like. Everything was right.

Zelda Question
I mentioned it in my Star Wars question just a moment ago, but I thought I’d expound on it here. Simply put... why is Ocarina of Time so amazing? Like, I don’t understand what makes it so good in people’s eyes? I think a lot is nostalgia, but I don’t know. Maybe I had a vastly different experience since my copy of OoT bugged out on me? (More on that bit later)
Like, okay, so people say “Ocarina of Time’s story is amazing”. Like... what... story? I’m sorry, I’m just confused by that. Like, I’ve played OoT several times. I can look at the story of the game and be like “Okay, so... kid in forest leaves forest, travels to castle, obtains gems, becomes an adult, saves sages, rescues princess from evil guy”. That’s... that’s the whole story. I’m not even being sarcastic or trying to make it sound bad. That’s literally the longest and best summary I can come up with about the game without mentioning every detail? Like, I could write a two paragraph summary about “boy then travels to temple A, then temple B, etc.” but like... that’d just be extra information.
Like, the characters are... well... flat. Malon appears twice in the game, just twice. She doesn’t show ANY affection for Link, at all, and this is coming from someone who confuses “Hello” with “She must love me”. Like, she literally shows no interest in him. She calls him “fairy boy” and teaches him a song, and gives him an egg, and you rescue her, except you don’t rescue her, you just save her horse.
And then Zelda... err... Shiek... err... Zelda? Err... Well, see, I’m confused here, too. Shiek and Zelda are the same people, but everyone is always like “OMG ZELDA” when... she has... two scenes... SHIEK is the one who shows up all the time (well, to teach you a song). And even then, Shiek has no real personality. Shiek’s just like “Yeah, so, here’s some random statement about this place, and here’s a song, I guess. It’ll teleport you here” then leaves. Yeah, Shiek is there in the village and gets beat up by Bongo Bongo... like... it’s not even a fight... Bongo Bongo just picks her up, throws her around, then attacks you. Sure, he was invisible and all, but like? She’s somehow a “badass”, but we never see this badassery?
I feel like a lot of what people like about the game is stuff never actually displayed in the game itself. “Shiek is a badass” SHIEK NEVER DOES ANYTHING. “Malon, Saria, Zelda, they all love Link” Saria is the ONLY person shown having any affection for Link, and she’s all “Your older now, we can’t be together” which is heartbreaking, but like... I never saw any affection from Malon or Zelda... Well, okay, Ruto got engaged to you... She was probably the only character that had much personality... And that was “I’m a snotty person that you’ll spend the whole dungeon yelling at, then I’ll appear as your fiancee seven years later for one scene”.
Heck, Nabooru has more character growth, and she has literally ONE SCENE in the entire game. Rather, you only meet her on one occassion, the Spirit Temple, where she’s like “Your a kid, but you’re hot, and I’ll totally fuck you” then she becomes a sage is like “I totally should have fucked you”. But seriously... even she was pretty bland.
One thing I do get is that OoT was the first one to cement the whole “history of Hyrule” thing... Oh... no... that’s not right either, cause that was ALttP that did that... So nevermind that, OoT doesn’t even have that going for it. In fact, the cutscenes for the creation of the world and the Triforce are so dull and bland that I really wish you could skip them, cause they’re like... 5 minute long cutscenes... TWO of which are literally just the Triforce spinning in place while Zelda talks.
I just... I don’t understand why it’s so adored and so loved. The camera controls suck ASS. Like, Z-targeting was awesome, but do you know how many times I had trouble lining the camera up so I could see what I wanted? “Let’s tilt the controller a little so I can turn just a little... NO! YOU TURNED TOO MUCH AND ALL I DID WAS NUDGE THE STICK!” Like, OMG... I really just could not figure out the camera controls really at all. And don’t even get me started on the infamous “unaimable bow”. Like, the hookshot had a red dot so you could aim it straight, but good freaking luck figuring out where the slingshot and bow were going to fire at.
And the waiting... so much god damn waiting... “Watch this cutscene of you opening a chest that takes 30 seconds EVERY TIME YOU OPEN ANY CHEST, EVEN THE DUNGEON MAP AND COMPASS WHICH YOU FIND EVERY DUNGEON!” Like what the hell? There’s no way around it, either. You just click the button and wait for the chest to slowly open, shimmer, Link hops into it, then hops out, then “DA DA DA DA!” you get your item along with a wall of text.
AND DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THAT GOD FUCKING DAMNED OWL AND HIS “DO YOU WANT TO HEAR THIS AGAIN?” BULLSHIT!
Anyway, someone, please, explain to me what is so great about this game. I really want to know. I’ve spent years... YEARS trying to figure out why OoT is the Number 1 video game of all time, even almost 20 years after the games release. Like, holy frick. Twilight Princess did so much things better than OoT. Twilight Princess was much more beautiful than OoT. WIND WAKER was probably one of the most hated games for how it looked, and it looked 100 times better than OoT. Like... OoT looks TERRIBLE in comparison to Wind Waker (WWHD... looks terrible in comparison to WW... -shudders- the bloom effect... so bright... makes it hard to see the game at all...) Hell, Skyward Sword played better then OoT and looked better, and it was... well... kinda bad? I’d probably rate it at the bottom of my Top 5 Zeldas at best?
So, why is OoT so “good”? Don’t get me wrong. OoT is a good game. I do enjoy it, and it was one of the first Zelda games I ever played but... like... almost any Zelda game plays better and looks better than Ocarina of Time... so why is it so adored?
Here’s my OoT experience story for you, maybe this is why I don’t like it as much as everyone does? So, I booted up OoT for the first time, yeah? Load up a game and create a new file. I should point out that it was a NEW FILE (you’ll get why in a moment). I see the cutscene with Navi and the Deku Tree, get woke up, hop out of bed, equip my gear (wait, what? Yeah, I had all of the gear), then walk out of the Kokiri Forest (cause I’m lost and not sure where to go) and get the Saria cutscene where I get the Ocarina.
I then walk to Castle Town and get the “Ganondorf chases Zelda cutscene then get the Ocarina of Time. I go to the Temple of Time, play the Ocarina, get the Master Sword. I then get the cutscene that follows with you and Rauru... I then get the “Zelda is Shiek” cutscene, followed immediately by the “You just entered the Temple of Time in the future” cutscene where I meet Shiek. Now confused, I walk out, find Ganon’s Tower, get the sage bridge cutscene. Enter the castle, solve the puzzles (remember, I had all the equipment? Also all the items), fight Ganon, game is over.
That was my experience playing OoT the first time. That was my experience with OoT the first 3 times (even starting another new file did the same thing). Maybe it’s because of that I never was able to enjoy the game in its “pure form” and thus end up liking it? I mean... if that’s true... then I think that pretty much proves that nostalgia is the only reason people enjoy OoT as much as they do... But I’m not here to point fingers. I just want to know... What makes OoT so great? Why is OoT the best Zelda game ever? Why is it the best game ever period? I just... I just don’t see it...
