“I still can’t believe we’re going short,” he breathes out, studying her nails in a way that would be considered almost creepy if it were not Remus on one end and Marlene on the other. “Remus. Look at me,” she says in the most serious tone he’d ever heard her. He does what he's told, looking at her curiously and only a little nervously. “Wh… Yeah?” “I have a date tonight,” she hints suggestively, like he’s supposed to know what she means. All he can manage is a confused pout as his brows knit together, looking like a child sat at the adults table for the first time trying to understand why everyone is laughing, but it prompts Marlene to keep going. “With a girl…” She continues. Still, Remus is completely lost, shaking his head and raising his eyebrow in question. “And, well, not to brag, per se,” she starts, most definitely bragging, and jerking her head to the side to flip her hair out of the way. “But, this girl really likes me.” “Marls… I’m not- I’m not following…” He admits, looking, if anything, a little concerned. “Remus, do you know what sex is?” She asks bluntly with a mock-innocent grin, and a furious blush takes over his face. He fumbles around with his words for a moment before finding them again. “Wh- Christ, Marlene!” He gets out, looking back down and refusing any further eye contact. The red in his cheeks doesn’t disperse when the realisation hits him like a truck and renders him speechless for all of ten seconds. Marlene breaks down in laughter, head thrown back, snorts and guffaws, the whole package, and Remus has to keep pulling her hands down as she tries to reach up and wipe tears off her face.

whoever came up with this idea thank youuuuuu because this was so so fun to do!!! i got a mix of aesthetics which i wasn't expecting, but kind of love because i feel like i tend to vary a lot depending on the day and my mood. overall, i think the middle row fits me best more consistently (and also all the books, books are everything to me).

i also tried using my full name and entered "abigail core aesthetic", but all i got was pictures of hyunjin (which is accurate but not helpful here)

this is such a cute idea, it's so interesting to see what everyone gets! i really had no idea what to expect when i searched for mine, but i like that its kind of a cool mix of things. i do love mushroom core, so that was fun to see that i got that! the photos of the trees and river remind me a lot of the pacific northwest which i've always called home, so it was comforting to see those photos come up.

Thinking about Edward Elric as the Amestrian Military's specialest little unfireable boy

State alchemists can be fired for underperforming. We know this up front from the likes of Shou Tucker. And this makes a ton of sense from the homunculi's standpoint since the state alchemists are sacrifice candidates, and the homunculi would want to cull the weakest candidates and focus only on cultivating the strongest ones who stand the best chance of opening the portal.

........Then there's Edward. Who's already opened the portal.

There's no need to cultivate him. No gamble taken on whether he's good enough to open the portal. He passed the final test already. Graduated 4 semesters early.

And as such, has a free pass to do Absolute Fuck All.

And I'm imagining how funny this is from like an outside perspective.

Some newish state alchemist who'd only ever read up on the stories of Edward Elric, ready and excited to start their career of being paid handsomely with endless freedom to research and travel and do anything they want in the pursuit of science... surprised and confused to find themselves put on probation their first month for things like "ignoring orders." Which is, as best they had thought, a famous Edward Elric pastime.

Roy showing a slight bit of stress about his yearly state alchemist report, and Ed just snorting and rolling his eyes at Roy because every year HE just hastily does his on the train ride over (canon in the manga, a travesty it was left out of the anime) and it gets rubber stamped. Ed not realizing that other alchemists' reports get genuinely scrutinized and torn apart while Ed is free to turn in whatever absolute bullshit he thinks of 36 hours ahead of time. One year his report was about whether alchemy could be done via dance (conclusion: no it can't) and no one cared. Roy WANTS to tell Ed there's some kind of unknown favoritism around Ed making him literally bullet-proof but Roy has no way to phrase this that doesn't sound like he's just in denial and mad at how good Ed's train-reports are.

Guy from the Internal Amestrian Affairs sector who's responsible for auditing other internal military personel for any suspicious activity hitting about 1 million red flags for Edward Elric, issuing a STRONG and URGENT recommendation to suspend the alchemist pending further investigation into things like "literal bunk-buddies with two members of the Xingese royalty (enemy nation)" and "spent $10,000,000 of his stipend on a librarian to make her re-copy (what he seemed to interpret as?) military records in some extremely transparent effort to unearth state secrets (it was a recipe book but he was literally asking her about state secrets)" and "literally has never once obeyed an order, ever, not even once in his career, and is on public record having said 'I do not care about the goals and protections of the Amestrian Military. I am in fact only pursuing my own interests several of which are diametrically opposed to the safety and well-being of the governing body of Amestris'"

The issued recommendation is intercepted before it even reaches its intended desk. President Bradley himself has taken issue with it and denies it before a single set of eyes has seen it. The President's veto stamp is a terrifying hammer, used rarely, and it is now sitting on the auditor's desk.

The auditor sleeps with one eye open from then on out.

adventure time lore is insane. it starts off just being a goofy kids show that has magic for no reason, but then you learn that all magic users are manic and/or depressed (what betty calls sadness and madness). because it turns out magic is actually a cosmic force beyond mortal comprehension, that itself was learned from cosmic entities that predated the existence of time itself inside a sea of monsters. and "magic" really is just understanding more about the nature of the universe than most people. that, in a way, reality isnt "real" and understanding that allows you to mold it. and thats magic. but that drives you to insanity and/or apathy. and there are beings who hold significant cosmic importance who are more prone to magic. and the reason magic became prevalent on earth is because of a nuclear war a thousand years ago, which released the entity that represents the destruction of all life onto the world. and after a nuclear apocalypse this gave way to a new earth, where magic could thrive. but a lot of the beings we see arent even magical, theyre just mutants from what happened 1000 years ago. and humanity as we know it has been all but wiped out. but everything stays the same because cycles of war and violence continue. and it doesnt matter if its nukes or magic. everything stays the same, but still changes.
