This Girl Can

The This Girl Can campaign has been successfully promoting the This Girl Can movement, promoting women to lead more active lifestyles in whatever ways that they can. Sport England launched the campaign in 2015, across Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok and YouTube.

The campaign used a wide variety of tools to engage its audience and to get them involved. Images (as seen in Figure 1), videos (as seen in Figure 2), stories and hashtags were implemented to gain the audience’s attention.

These tools were also successful in causing the audience to start posting their own journeys and content using the #ThisGirlCan hashtag. This also resulted in a growing audience number, as people were generating their own content for the campaign and sharing it on their personal social media.

This campaign was successful at gaining and retaining attention. Implementing the campaign across multiple media platforms that use different digital content was smart and tactical, and resulted in more content being generated by the audience. It is an inspiring campaign that has managed to sustain itself over multiple years as a result of high engagement and the positivity that the campaign spreads.

Looking at aesthetics on Instagram // Personal Branding.

I have been inspired by the ‘Aesthetic’ look for the branding of my project so have been exploring different peoples pages to get some inspiration.

Jack Ward - jack_c_ward I like the way that he uses different images that have the same minimalistic style, so that when placed together they will create an interesting and intriguing style. 

This girl can - thisgirlcanuk The same type and similar images are being used together and this has created a vibrant but still collective brand identity. This is something i am going to try and create.

Missguided - missguided The pink theme goes through all the images, and they have intentionally played with the contrast of white space and this has created an interesting grid style. This is something i could try and experiment with throughout the campaign.

Instagram

Instagram is one of the most widely used forms of social media, and i think this could be something that the campaign really harnesses and uses in a productive way. Digital media is a large part of this brief and I'm going to try and explore the idea as far as possible.
