End credits scene #2 in Love and Thunder... let's talk about it (obviously spoilers below)
TW: Cancer, death
Valhalla is only for warriors who die during battle (as established in Sif's scene during dialouge that seemed to be just throwaway lines at the time). Jane didn't die until after the literal battle with Gorr was over.
In other words, Jane doesn't go to Valhalla for dying bravely during the battle with Gorr. Jane goes to Valhalla for dying bravely during her battle with cancer, and I just think that's a beautiful statement about people who are fighting severe, severe illnesses.

random thor thoughts (SPOILERS)
it looked like they reused the Romulan makeup from 2009 Star Trek and gave everybody white hair and contacts instead of tattoos
also they could have imported Eric Bana from Star Trek 2009 and it would have had about the same impact - The Dark World and Star Trek 2009 felt like they had the same throwaway-type villain, in that the villain wasn't really compelling in and of themselves, it was more an excuse to bring people together (Thor and Loki, the entire Enterprise crew)
idk I enjoyed the Thor movie but in retrospect I think I basically enjoyed the movie because of the actors' performances and dialogue more than the actual plot
(on that note this movie hit one of those Things I Hate: having a character become possessed by a macguffin type thing in order to further the plot. said character will often gain some kind of insight from said possession, but I really hate turning a character into an object because of a plot contrivance. Was not a fan of this in Atlantis, was not a fan of it in any Star Trek episode where someone is ~possessed by aliens~, was not a fan of it here. It wasn't as poorly done as it could have been, but 'it's not as bad as it could have been!' is...not what I would've liked to have seen.)
This is really a movie where the actors are literally the reason to see the movie - their performances (particularly Hiddleston's Loki - the local movie reviewer basically said 'he stole the movie whenever he was on-screen' and they're right.) But everybody here does a fantastic job with what they're given (Chris Hemsworth and Rene Russo both deserve particular kudos) and basically everybody gets a moment of their own to shine (except the non-Volstagg/Fandral member of the Warriors Three, wtf was up with that), and - yeah, this movie was plot-holey and the villains/macguffin thing aren't particularly compelling and there are some characters who are sort of ??? in terms of reasons for being there (Ian the Intern), but the performances and dialogue really made this enjoyable. (Kat Dennings, kudos on your comic timing. Darcy reacts the way I think I would react in a lot of these situations, in terms of actually saying things like "WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?" instead of delivering a quippy one-liner on cue.)
also, DO NOT GO ON IMDB. you will spoil yourself for an uncredited cameo and you do not want to be spoiled on that. IT IS FANTASTIC.
(also, somebody please please please give me some kind of Shakespearan epic-ish thing with Patrick Stewart and Tom Hiddleston and I think I would fall over in happiness. make it fantasy epic and I would die of fangirl squees.)
oh, and finally: does anyone think that final postcredits scene might have been better (and made Chris O'Dowd's appearance in the movie have a point) if that scene had been Jane and Chris O'Dowd (did his character even have a name, I don't remember) - but anyway, if it had been their second attempt at a date and they're sitting down with a menu and Thor shows up and poor Chris O'Dowd is all "...oh. uh...okay."
and then you could cut to that monster chasing birds outside the window or something, but...idk, I think that would've been cuter/brought the movie full circle/just been a better post-credits scene.
(and who else is betting that the Agents of SHIELD are going to have to track that monster down on TV in a couple weeks?)

SPOILER ALERT -THOR: THE DARK WORLD
I just got it why Odin let Thor keep the hammer at the end! Is because if he takes it back he's not gonna be able to lift it so then Thor will know it's actually not Odin but Loki!

agentmarvel said: I’m worried about this too :/ everyone assumes people see things at the same time buttt.. Yeah, I honestly thought there was a worldwide premier date at first (that would be really nice omg), but unfortunately there isn't.  Like I said, I'll be tagging my spoilers as 'thorspoilers', and it would be great if everyone could tag there spoilers too. A lot of us don't live where it will be premiering until later, and I know I'm not the only one who doesn't want the movie spoiled for them! I hope nobody spoils the movie for you, if you or anyone would like me to tag my spoilers as anything else so you don't have to blacklist multiple spoiler tags, just let me know!

Happy Thor weekend!! Since I've picked up a lot of new followers since the last Marvel movie release, here's the deal...
I'm seeing it tonight, but won't post anything but my spoilers free thoughts until Sunday. Then the spoilers emerge. I know not everyone will have seen the movie, so spoilers will be tagged #thorspoilers #thorloveandthunderspoilers and #thor4spoilers if you want to block tags.

thor spoilers beneath
Does it bother anyone else that Asgardians can take high-impact blows (like Thor can be thrown back into solid rock, blown through stuff, etc.) without any sort of trauma/crush injury/even any bruising whatsoever...
...but that one single sharp stab wound from a regular sword is enough to be fatal? (Granted, there are cases where this would certainly be the case IRL with our medical technology - aortic dissection or some serious stabby wound that severs something - but every time someone gets stabbed in this movie everybody assumes ~definite instant fatality~ and...
...uh, what about Asgardian technology that is so advanced as to be magical? I get that (okay, major spoiler time now) - I get that when Loki is stabbed, Thor would think he was dying because they're on a different planet in the middle of a battle and he's not exactly going to get him back to Asgard, but with Frigga...she's at the heart of the Nine Worlds, we've just seen massive medical technology in play, we know she's still alive (if just barely) when Thor comes into the room, and nobody even tries to yell for a healer or transport her somewhere for medical attention or anything? Also, what's up with the imperviousness to blunt force trauma and impact while being hugely hugely vulnerable to pointy metal objects?
Just plot points that bug me (and make me want to retreat into the idea that Frigga pulled a Loki and used illusion magic to make herself appear dead in an attempt to bring her sons together or something because seriously she did have a tremendous moment of awesome there (and how great would it have been if she had actually killed Malekith right then and there and the real Big Bad ended up being his sidekick?) but...yeah, was not a fan of that death.

Guys!
Thor 2 doesn't come out where I live for a while after it comes to Europe, so could you please, please tag your spoilers? I'll be tagging any spoilers that I can't help but reblog as 'thorspoilers', so if you don't want to see any of those posts of mine you can blacklist that. Thanks!
