The life behind the victimized

We all have a story in life, many stories in fact as well travel through life. We gain a sensor of who we are, the liberty of sticking to our choices no matter what people think, purpose is important, morals are subjective. Of course we learn many more life values but these are some I feel match the story Im about to tell.

Im tired of crying . Im tired of yelling. Im tired of being sad. Im tired of pretending. Im tired of being alone. Im tired of being angry. Im tired of feeling crazy. Im tired of feelin stuck. Im tired of needing help. Im tired of remembering. Im tired of being different. Im tired of feeling empty inside. Im tired of feeling worthless. Im tired of not being able to just let go. Im tired of wishing I could just start all over. Im tired of dreaming of a life I will never have. Im tired of trying. Im tired of breathing. Most of all Im tired of being tired!

Im sure many of you can relate to some of these feelings. I know I can as these are all feelings Ive felt at least once if not several times in my life. I feel I need to explain why Ive felt these and what may have contributed to these feelings.

It started at a young age really.,, I learned very quickly the view of the world around me, feelings , emotions, thoughts, beliefs. Its part of the cognative stages of childhood devlopment. Which is very important for ones well being later on in life. And this is where I begin to tell you where this is going. Of course Im sure your wondering. Bullying... Yes I said it. And Im sure youve experienced it wether it be the aggressor or the victim. In my case I was both. And there was reasons as to why.

This story may get sad. So prepare yourself. Everything Im about to tell you ties into one another. And explains so much of the person I was, and who I am today.

My trust was broken at a young age ( around 7ish ) as I was sexually assulted by someone who was suppose to protect me. Be my guidence in life. I remember waking up in the middle of the night being told not to say a word I bad things would happen. Such as getting into trouble and many other excuses as I do not remember at this moment. I was scared and confused as to what was going on. Here is where some of the previous emotions come into play. I was sad, felt different, needing help,crying, and most important remembering. I was tired of remembering the several events and to this day I still am.

This was the very first event in my life where I realized life can be terrible. I learned much more as I progressed through life. In school I was bullied verbally, socially, and physically. Did you know that bullying can affect someone 4 decades into thier future. 4 DECADES! Bullying can cause someone so many issues. Again the feelings above. Such as feeling worthless, feeling empty, sad, being alone, pretending to be ok, being angry, letting things go. I felt all these.

It started off by name calling, teasing, pushing on the play ground. Yeah no big deal right.... Well it took a huge downward spiral once I hit junior high and high school. The name calling, teasing, and pushing continued but in a much more agressive manner. The name calling went from juvenile to agressive. Such as stupid, idiot, ugly to slut, bitch, nasty and so on. I remember in junior high I had a huge crush on this popular boy. All the (popular) girls knew it and felt it would be funny to play a funny little joke on me and tell me that I this boy liked me as well and that he wanted to date me. I was so excited! ( Possibly slighty naive also) They told me he wanted to talk to me at recess. So of couse at recess I went to talk to him. The whole school was around! Ok well maybe not the whole school but at the time it felt like it. They all wanted to watch thier evil trick in play. The boy told me I was a fat nasty slut and that he never said he would date me. Which was true he didnt. It was all a sick joke. Some mean girls shit right there.

 I was assulted several times for no reason. Had my head bashed into a brick wall. Punched in the face. I remember having a boy in junior high forced his hand down my pants. A few years later the same boy was in the back of the vehicle that transported 3 or 4 kids to a vocational school playing with this... well you know what. Calling myself and another girl names and trying to force our hands... well you get the picture.

I had gum thrown in my hair, things knocked off my desk, and so on.

I learned a few things from all this... There is no way to make yourself less bullyable, Bystanders are worse then the bullies ( true even my own friends watched me get my face smashed into a brick wall!), The desire to lash back can become unbearable ( I became a very mean person as I felt it was the only way to stick up for myself and I became a very angry teenager/young adult), and most importantly you can survive that shit and walk away a better person.

Now as an adult Ive been through many other events such as being mentally, physcally, emotionally, and sexually abused. I dont need to get into details now. Maybe another time as this blog is already getting very long. Ive gone through alot of dissapointment in life. In which has made me who I am today. The good , the bad, and the ugly.

I stuggle everyday with anxiety. Which was caused by events throughout my life. My brain never shuts off. I turn a mole hole into a mountain as my mother would say. At times I feel Im not good enough, I get sad, I feel crazy, empty, worthless, tired of remember, cant let go of things and so on.

Im learning that life is what you make of it. You can choice to be mad about all the things youve been though,feel sorry for yourself, feel down, depressed,having a low self esteem, ext. But doing this just breeds negativity which can be very unhealthy. You choice your path in life. How to control your emotions and feelings. Yes it can be hard to get your emotions and feelings in order but it can be done. With lots of work! Hell Im still working on making myself a better person. It can be a daily struggle at times. Trust me.

You have beliefs in who you are. So if you think negative there for you become. You think your ugly, fat, stupid... there for you become. So next time you feel a negative thought or feeling about yourself... try and reframe it, transform it and see a strength rather then a weakness. Sometimes its hard seeing a strength in yourself. The stregnths are there I promise. You just need to find them! The trick is to see things from a different more powerful perspective.

The fine folks at eufy were kind enough to send us a sampling of their latest security cameras to install around our house for testing. eufy sent their Video Doorbell, their Smart Floodlight with Camera, as well as their brand new, updated eufyCam 2 home security camera system. The combination of these cameras allowed us to keep an eye on our entire property within one single app, the eufy Security app.

The Video Doorbell covers the front door and front yard, the Smart Floodlight covers the driveway and side front yard, while the two eufyCam 2 cameras cover the backyard and the other side yard. These cameras replaced Ring cameras that we had previously been paying $30/year for the privilege of accessing our recordings.

The cameras maintain their aesthetic design as well as their fantastic features, including incredible 1-year battery life and excellent video quality. Night vision looks great and provides great clarity for those late-night recordings. The eufyCam 2 is a great option for security camera installations where you dont have an existing power source. The Video Doorbell is easy to install as long as you understand basic electrical work. After turning off the electrical circuit, you disconnect your existing doorbell and connect two wires to the eufy Video Doorbell. The Video Doorbell even comes with a couple different angled mounts to ensure you get the best possible view with your new doorbell cam.

Eufys Video Doorbell notifies you when it sees a person, but ignores things like dogs, deer, etc. The clarity of the video recordings is really good and makes it easy to see whos at your door, whether its night or day. The Video Doorbell has an HDR feature that ensures you get clear video even when theres bright backlighting, which is great for our situation because we often have the sun facing our door. We would sometimes get false alerts for shapes that look like a person, so the AI isnt perfect, but it gets it right 95% of the time.

Unlike its competitors, the eufy Video Doorbell comes with a plug-in speaker in the box that alerts you to someone ringing the doorbell in the house. Similar to Rings Chime device, the Video Doorbell chime plugs directly into a household outlet and syncs simply and easily with your doorbell. Its perfect if you have a babysitter watching the kids but dont want to share access to the eufy Security app with them. You can change the volume of the ring within the eufy Security app.

The 4GB of local storage is located inside the doorbell itself, which honestly does not feel as secure as the eufyCam 2 systems storage. My concern is what would happen if someone with malicious intent destroys the Video Doorbell with a hammer. Will you still be able to access the recordings if the doorbell itself is destroyed or even just offline due to damage? With the eufyCam 2, the storage is located in the home base, which is inside your house, so even if your eufyCam 2 camera is destroyed, youll still be able to access the recordings.

The last (but not least) security camera that I installed was the Smart Floodlight with Camera, which is exactly what it sounds like. It replaces an existing floodlight and adds security camera functionality, which extremely convenient, since you already have power there. Similar to the Video Doorbell, you simply hook up the two wires, plus ground wire, and youre pretty much set. Install was a breeze thanks to eufy having the foresight to include a metal hanger that allowed me to hang the floodlight while I was connecting the wires while standing at the top of a ladder.

The direction of the LED lights are totally adjustable, however, the camera is less so. The LED lights are super-bright and were a huge improvement over our previous metal halide lamps. They make it look almost like daylight out on our driveway at night. The video and audio quality is what Id come to expect from eufy; crystal clear. You can customize the motion sensitivity and even put it in motion test mode where you can walk up the driveway and the status LED will blink when it detects motion so you know its set properly. The video storage is local to the Smart Floodlight with Camera, which features 1080p quality video with the ability for 2-way audio.

This is more for tech entrepreneurs here. However, the core ideas can be taken out for some other businesses. Let me know if it helps.I was answering the question “What are the strategies to convert a free user to a premium user for a SaaS product?” and the answer became an article in itself. At the same time, it’s yet another one of my core fundamentals which I think can impact someone. Below is my answer.It’s all about intent.If your intent is to make as much money as possible as fast as possible (i.e short term), the answer is not for you. You’ll do things that other guys/gurus mention such as “Provide incentive for prospects to sign up for freemium but do not provide too much value so that free version of the product is enough.” — that’s corny, dull and lacking a long-term vision.Here’s something that I’ve noticed within myself. At a point, I’ve realised I love some companies to the point where I feel like they’re my friend. They’ve done so much good to me and they’ve been “by my side” to a point where I don’t have any problem with parting with my money.There’s an emotional connection between me and them. It may sound dramatic but it’s true. When I pay them I do so happily as I support their cause.Here’s the TLDR answerHelp them grow so you can grow together.By that I mean the freemium model should offer the client the chance to grow — equality of opportunity — and if it does happen that they grow and become profitable, the SaaS starts charging based on that. In a sense, value-based pricing, or at least as much as it could get with a scalable model.In other words, open up the doors for a lot of people and then benefit mutually from the winners.Objection 1But I don’t want to have users on the freemium plan leeching my resourcesNow here’s the catch — I’d say charge the winners enough so that it’ll cover the expenses for those who didn’t get it yet (or leeches, because I know that might be going through your mind, especially if you’re a business person).Charge them enough so that you won’t get mad when you find out about that couple of users that just sucked the benefits of your benevolence and never contributed towards your company.Objection 2I can’t afford to offer the free plan to so many peopleHere’s another magnificent thing that happens when you open the doors for everyone — word of mouth is on steroids. You’re on a fast track to word-of-mouth express. It’s possible you might have heard this comparison before — arguably you can reach 1000 people. And one of these people knows 1000 people. That means you’re a person away from a million. And two people away from a billion.If your intent is to do good and give chances to everyone to prove themselves, within that network of a billion some of the engagements will include how nice it is that your SaaS is doing them good — whether they pay or not.Therefore, I’m pretty confident when I say that the ARR you’ll get to in 1–2 years, given the money you’ll be burning initially because of the free plan (it’s not the case all the time though) will be significantly bigger than the ARR you’d have by implementing the shitty tactic of“Provide incentive for prospects to sign up for freemium but do not provide too much value so that free version of the product is enough.”Give them bloody enough if you can. Because you’ll have a customer for life and some of them will become even friends. And then when they win and scale, they’ll be more than happy to pay you. And I’ll state it again: they’ll be happy to pay you amounts of value that will cover for those on a freemium plan.Why? Simple — you see it everywhere. Millionaires who grew up as orphans donate back to orphanages because without these houses, they couldn’t have won. Most of the time it’s more than just THE orphanage they grew up in. We’re humans and once we accumulate resources, if the intent is good in that person, they want to help the cause. Remember what I wrote above that in my case I wanted to contribute to the company’s cause?Objection 3I really can’t afford it because I don’t have the money right now — I’m bootstrapping it, hence no investmentsFair. Charge for what you do, don’t offer a freemium plan or do so but only as a trial. But as soon as you’re able to do what I said above, please do it.The point is this: the more you’re able to give away for free, the more it will come back to you. It won’t make any sense to you unless you’ve experienced it yourself but maybe one single reader will simply trust it by heart and she or he will be taken far.Here’s another choice of words for sceptics: the more you’re able to give to people, the more you’ll be able to ask from them (eventually). Makes sense?Some practical examplesI’ll give some examples below along with a brief description. Cloud services are more prone to do so given the fact that what they offer is more fungible and is easier to be priced in a “pay as you go” model.Dropbox — 2 GB free for anyone. Moreover, get people onboard and we’ll give you more. All for free. Help me, help you.Spotify — free music, no problem. Just ads. If you mind them (i.e. if your time is more valuable than the monthly $10), we’ve got you as well.GitHub — sure, put your beloved code and creations on our platform. Open to anyone. If you’re looking to do more than just a hobby, only then we’ll charge youFirebase — If your database downloads exceed 10 GB/mo, then you’re pretty serious and most probably you can afford to pay for a solution. If not, however, it’s fine, we’ll take the risk with you. Let’s see if your idea works, no problem if it doesn’t. We’ll swallow it.Cloudflare (which I absolutely love by the way, even though I don’t use their service) — You know what guys, we’ll sell you the domains at wholesale price, we won’t get any commission. And if your website is tiny, it’s just a small personal website or a blog that just started, it’s fine. Stay for free. Only later, when you worry about high-performance and security (which is when you’re at a later stage), we’ll start charging you.MailChimpThe bottom lineOpening up the doors for everyone can go this way.
