Look, I'm not making my Stan doesn't regain his memories and gets put into a care home under the guise of dementia idea into anything more than an idea, but I do have some more thoughts to add.

In order for it to actually be passed off as dementia, Stan's ability to retain memories would've had to have been damaged. Maybe not entirely, but still seriously damaged. I put in the comments of my last post how I think the other characters feel about Stan, so I'm not going to say anything more on that. Finally, I think that there's no way for him to regain any memories, but he'll occasionally get the ghost of feelings when something triggers what would be a reminder of a memory. Most of the time, this means anger and lashing out, which only helps to enforce the dementia ideas.

Stan would be seriously suffering because he knows he doesn't have dementia, but he doesn't have any other memories, so he supposes he can't argue against it. Not to mention, he doesn't like the sad looks on the faces of these people he doesn't recognise or remember, but they feel familiar enough that he doesn't like them being sad. He has no such qualms about the staff at the care home and frequently treats them badly. He really doesn't want to be there after all, and hates how he's being treated. (No hate to care home workers. I respect them so much.)
