it had only been a few days since whiskey and the men she’d been traveling with set up camp at taos. everything about this place was new to her...but the biggest shock was the sense of camaraderie. the community of it all. she hadn’t gotten by for two years on the road by making friends, so the thought that all of these people cared about each other felt difficult to wrap her head around. lee’s words echoed in her mind. people came to taos to ‘reunite, swap materials, share stories, enjoy togetherness.’ 

it was a nice sentiment, but whiskey wasn’t totally buying into it yet. in fact, the only thing that was sticking in her mind was the swap swipe materials bit. she couldn’t help it—especially as she stared at a brand new, shiny walkman that someone had left in their beach chair carelessly while they went to go look at someone else’s trailer. whiskey glanced around innocently, eyes wide as she tried to sus out if she was in the clear. no one was really around, so she inched closer to the empty chair, to the walkman that was so close to being in her possession. she was still too far to make a grab for it, but just when she got close enough, she felt the worst chill climb up her spine. she was being watched. glancing over her shoulder again, she found the eyes that were burning into the back of her head, and she nearly choked when she saw him.

something about that face. it was like seeing a ghost. “what?” she spat bitterly, “do you need something?”

since the flood, cole had stuck closely by addison's side. it was the only way she didn't panic thinking about losing them in some way, even if they'd been together when the last disaster had happened. but it wasn't just the flood that kept cole's mind reeling, and as the couple strolled slowly through the trading post, she reached out to idly slip her fingers through addison's, pressing closer to them until her lips found their shoulder.

"hey, how's your niece doing? was she safe during the flood or did she get hit?"

Since neither of them had planned to be here, she had to take responsibility for changing her mind first, not wanting to miss out on everything. Plus, she thought the distraction would be good for them and hoped the night would go off without a hitch. Finding the set for Sza, she had briefly wandered off just to ditch her empty cup. Returning with a sudden jump onto Cole's back, she made sure to giggle in his ear so he knew it was her. Recognising the song playing only has her smirk growing as she loops her arms around his front, singing just soft enough for only him to hear. "Long as you dreamin' 'bout me, ain't no problem, I don't got nobody, just with you right now. Tell the truth, I look better under you," falling into a devious chuckle, she nips at the lobe of his ear before jumping down, circling around to his front. Keeping him close and letting the world around them fall away, she bit at her lower lip which soon broke into a grin. "What are you thinking about?" Teasing, knowing fine well what they had been up to the last time they listened to this track.

"Well, if it isn't the babiest Cerulli of them all." Of course Lance was dying to know how things panned out for Cole after their last conversation, but today was not a day to discuss it. If she brought it up - which he doubted she would - great. Otherwise he would just ask her later. "And already getting extra freckles to boot! God I'm jealous. I wish I had cute freckles across my nose."

Though they had spent almost every moment together since he returned, Cole thought it was time for a proper date. With the help of his grandparents and the twins, he had everything planned and in place to surprise the one woman who stole his heart and made him feel alive all over again. "Alright, so before we can start our evening of fun activities. I have a surprise for you." The smile he seemed to permanently wear whenever they were together only grew larger as he took her hand in his. "Now, before you protest and tell me it's too much, I just want you to know that this is something I want us to maybe do together someday." Without giving away any more information, he nodded toward the parking lot that he led them to, revealing a 'sold' sign on a little food truck. "Surprise! I know it's always been a dream of yours and I want you to follow those dreams Bee and I known it doesn't seem like much right now but it's yours to create into whatever you want and I'll help every step of the way." / @writermuses

"Cole," Laurel greeted succinctly as she took a seat across from him. She slid over a cup of black coffee and a few packets of sugar and creamer she'd picked up, raising a hand to say 'have at it.' She sat back, stirring her own drink a little as she appraised him. Laurel didn't do this often — checking in on former clients after she'd sent them on their way — but with Cole so close by in town and with her having vouched for him last time he'd gotten in trouble, she thought the occasional update was necessary. "Been a good boy lately?"

with her sunglasses shoved up to completely cover her eyes and a redbull dangling from her fingers, it was obvious that cole was hungover. then again, when wasn't she hungover? she'd gone a little too hard the night before, the jell-o shots in pretty colors all too enticing as she flirted her way into not paying ahigh bill. use what you know.

strolling up to the club now, cole shot ike a lazy smile. they were probably used to this song and dance from her by now, but just in case they weren't, she always managed to bring them a peace offering. "mornin' --- or afteroon? i don't know which it is. either way, do you need some energy?"
