update on Bro’s typewriter power supply with the mercury thyratron tubes: it do a glowy. here is a video with him explaining a teensy bit of it. the whole power supply weighs like 100 pounds and takes up most of his table. he got it into the basement by himself.
the 2nd one is slightly damaged and only barely works, so he ordered an untested replacement and hopes it’ll work bc a tested tube is Very Expensive. the saucer-in-an-incandescent-bulb-lookin’ dude in the back glows on the top surface of the saucer sometimes. Bro says this is to help the tubes do whatever they do.
