My Hades weapon aspect tier list
Because I’m just Hades brainrot 24/7.
Tumblr media
(Ignore the E-tier, I made my rankings before I realized this website uses an E-tier.)
I use all of the aspects all of the time because I love to change things up. Full disclosure, though, I’ve max upgraded most of them but not all of them; maybe I’ll like some of them better once they’re fully upgraded, but who knows.
I feel the need to explain my rankings but I’m putting that under a Read More because I’ve written a full paragraph for most of these.
Aspect of Zagreus
Most Aspects of Zagreus are a baseline C-tier. They get the job done just fine but their little perks don’t make them anything special to me. The only exception to this is the fists’ Aspect of Zagreus, which I would call A-tier. Dodge chance is very valuable to me - if you check my records, Greater Evasion is actually my most-used boon.
Aspect of Nemesis - C-tier
I actually used to really love this one, and I still think bonus critical chance is valuable. But as my heat gets higher and higher, I find myself having a harder time with the sword in general and often resort to just attacking wildly and not feeling like I have the time to use the special, which means I don’t take advantage of this aspect’s main benefit.
Aspect of Poseidon - F-tier
Congrats, Poseidon, not only do you have my least favorite boons, you also have my least favorite aspect! You’re going to notice that I dislike the cast-centric aspects, and that’s because I rarely use cast and often forget it exists. But this aspect in particular I just don’t understand. It’s not like the bloodstones aren’t going to dislodge themselves eventually, and in the meantime, don’t you want them to stay in the enemies? Having bloodstones in them debuffs them. Not to mention it doesn’t work with Stygian Soul and is useless if you use Demeter, Dionysus, or Ares’s cast. In my opinion, the only boon that synergizes well with this aspect is Exit Wounds; otherwise, it’s pointless.
Aspect of Arthur - A-tier
Once you get over how slow it is, this aspect has a really beefy attack that cuts through enemies in no time. I actually got my fastest time ever with this aspect. Not to mention, 50 free HP? Yes please.
Aspect of Achilles - F-tier
Don’t hate me? I just find this one really difficult to control. Also, I usually like to use the spear’s special against Theseus and the Greatshields, because even if they block it from one direction it’ll still hit them coming back. I guess I still have that option with this aspect, but it’s not as intuitive.
Aspect of Hades - A-tier
My go-to on the spear. It’s not very flashy or exciting, but it does what you want it to do.
Aspect of Guan Yu - B-tier
This aspect has grown on me a lot, although I do think I still like it mostly as a novelty - it’s not exactly ideal for beating the game, but it’s something different and it’s a lot of fun to play around with. The small health pool is stressful, but stealing your health back is satisfying.
Aspect of Chaos - B-tier
According to Tiermaker’s average rankings, this is the favorite overall aspect. And I guess I get that. To me it’s okay. The problem with it for me is that the shield’s base special never really impressed me that much, and adding a few more shields to that equation isn’t that much of an improvement.
Aspect of Zeus - S-tier
This one is just awesome. It feels great being able to keep attacking and blocking while your special is out there doing its thing. Also, a quick tip: this one is called Aspect of Zeus for good reason. The special synergizes great with Zeus’s lighting effects, which basically let it do double damage. It’s really satisfying to watch, too.
Aspect of Beowulf - F-tier
Not only is this cast-based, but I really don’t think that any benefits offered by this aspect are worth taking 10% more damage. Every time I start a run with this aspect I immediately think “Fuck, this was a mistake.”
Aspect of Chiron - S-tier
I love choosing a single target and just feeding arrows into them, especially with stackable status effects on the special. This is my ol’ reliable when I want to use the bow.
Aspect of Hera - D-tier
I don’t hate this quite as much as the other cast-based aspects, because if I am going to use the cast, it’s good to get some range on it. Still, I find it underwhelming.
Aspect of Rama - D-tier
I like the special, and the heavy attack is pretty good. I just can’t get over how slowly this thing charges up.
Aspect of Talos - D-tier
I like to put Aphrodite’s Weak effect on this aspect’s special so enemies can’t hurt me as much even though I’ve brought them in close. Unfortunately, sometimes if an enemy is too far away when I use the special on them, it will give them the “magnetized” status effect (or whatever you want to call it) but won’t make them Weak, which is really annoying and the main reason I ranked this so low.
Aspect of Demeter - C-tier
The supercharged special is great in theory, but in practice it doesn’t help me very much because I always seem to waste it on a small enemy, or an enemy that already has very low health, or by just punching the air.
Aspect of Gilgamesh - B-tier
My boyfriend’s favorite aspect. He likes the risk-reward system of making an enemy both take more damage and deal more damage. I don’t like that. Usually I maim an enemy and then get the hell away from them until the effect resolves. What elevates this one for me are the extra dashes.
Aspect of Eris - D-tier
I was going to make this one F-tier, but last night I did a run with it and it was actually kind of decent so I bumped it up. It’s still really unwieldy to get into the right position to get the buff. Also, hot take, I think that they shouldn’t offer you the Hazard Bomb upgrade while you’re using this aspect because that’s just stupid.
Aspect of Hestia - F-tier
Reloading will give me one good shot? Just one? Great, thanks, I love it. Too bad it’s useless to me because my first shot usually misses.
Aspect of Lucifer - S-tier
I don’t know why everyone hates this aspect. It’s totally badass. Maybe I only ranked it S-tier because the other rail aspects suck so bad that this seems fantastic in comparison, but damn, I really love this crazy laser gun.

asks last night made me think about female tertiary riders. since yua is one will this become a trend? no way to know. but then I was like “ok going back which previous characters would have worked just fine as women?” and I used the list of tertiary riders from tiermaker bc it’s not an official designation and there’s no canon list
Tumblr media
kivala: self-explanatory
mage: self-explanatory. although I actually think if the other two mages were also women that would annoy me more bc it’s like oh women can be riders but only off-brand burlap colored ones. I see
delta: was a women in canon, briefly, off-screen. if she had stayed alive as a character instead of dying for takumi’s manpain that could have been interesting. the guy who ended up as the delta user was so boring that at least if he were a woman that would be something to stand out
snipe: thinking about nico snipe here. but in general i have no problem with the idea of a weird annoying woman who lives in an abandoned hospital and gets bullied by her teenage protégé
chalice: why not. feral woman in the process of rehabilitation who threatens to fucking kill people but warms up due to family and friendship? that’s good. it would also make people read kenzaki and hajime’s relationship as overtly romantic
todoroki: we just need more dumb female jocks in the world
den-o rod form: I dont consider the various den-o forms to be different riders but they’re on here so. I also already forgot why I put ura in this category. oh it’s bc I think his role within the group is kind of to make plans and wrangle the others which is often a feminine role anyway
den-o axe form: just for the yukata open to the waist with bandaged chest under vibe
necrom: that guy already basically has the character arc of a spoiled princess who learns about the real world
kuuga (onodera yuusuke): just why not. there isn’t anything about yuusuke that i think would become weird when applied to a female character instead. the fandom reaction to a female yuusuke I don’t know about. tsukasa/yuusuke shipping might become very big but also the number of people who think she is quote yuuseless unquote might increase too
woz: I think woz could be a woman. it doesn’t break the cardinal rule that a woz is a woz so it’s fine. woz’s slavish devotion towards sougo might become more unpleasant coming from a woman towards a man but I think it would be mitigated by woz clearly being evil and having insane woz motives
zolda: talked about this last night. I do think it would be good. also it would make that huge hilarious gun cool and sexy bc it would be like the valkyrie cannon scene in ragnarok
gills: a woman who’s a feral loner who screams and punches people. a swamp wife. sounds good to me
hoppers: hell hopper sisters anyone? they’re already such stupid and ridiculous characters that switching their gender wouldn’t trouble me. in fact it might even be a victory for feminism
leangle: I put him in maybe bc everyone in the entire show already dunks on him constantly so if it was “everyone is rude to the only female rider all the time” that would be no good. although if hajime is also a woman.. hmm...
drake: I think female daisuke would have to become a heterosexual woman bc so much of his character is hitting on babes and I dont think toei would allow an out and proud lesbian hero. in 2007 especially. but a flirty and stupid woman who always gets saved by her kid sister could be done well or poorly
zangetsu: somehow the idea of takatora being a woman in a position of power whose employees are all plotting against her bc she;s a huge dumbass doesn’t sit right with me. but there are no huge red flags so. nee-san is single and doesn’t have a husband
gridon: dont care about that guy maybe if he was a lady I would
bravo: oren’s a flamboyant gay man, so translated to a female character she would become a butch lesbian. butch lesbian who was a private military contractor but settled down for her dream of running a bakery is less good to me as a plot but I think I could deal bc oren doesn’t just give up on fighting
I dont even remember who this next guy is. oh knuckle. all i remember about him is he was kinda gay s maybe it would be bad to make him a woman bc then she would just come off as straight
chaser: gouchase becomes canon. theres maybe some weird stuff that might arise with a female chase but not worse than anything about medic so whatever
raia: I actually dont think tezuka should be a woman but I’m not mad about it so I didn’t make a category just for him. I think it becomes more cringe for a woman to dramatically die for shinji and I also think now that tezuka is canonically gay we shouldn’t erase that. even if female tezuka is a lesbian it’s still like wow another dead lesbian
lazer: female kiriya being like “ohoho I flirt with you but I also lie all the time” would come off different. people already portray kiriya as a fox in fanart but if she were a lady you wouldn’t even be able to find fanart without ears and tail. however I do want to see a female character who dresses exactly like kiriya
grease: I like the idea of a rough and tumble farmer lady who’s always going around with her boys. the mii-tan thing could be better or worse, depending. full on lesbian kazumin is worse bc it makes her obsessive horny lesbian who can’t take a no. kazumin who is theoretically a straight woman but just really loves mii-tan as an idol could be ok
rogue: i forgot his name. sorry gentoku. gentoku as a female villain who defects for a reason other than ~love~ would be good. but gentoku being secretly obsessed with ugly fashion is somehow bad to me in a female character
ryugen: no. we cant. no.
sasword: why did I put him in this category? well I think his comical and contrived failures to understand how the world works come close to crossing a line at times already and if tsurugi were a female character there is no way that it wouldn’t be used to infantilize and sexualize her in a creepy way. I thought about that scene where tsurugi dresses as a schoolboy and the outfit’s too small. that was already weird and unnecessary. I imagined it as an adult woman in a too-small schoolgirl uniform and I said Absolutely Not

Recently I was invited on Twitter to put together a Superman villain tier list from the tiermaker site; I did it while noting some options I was surprised weren’t there or simply wished for, and the original poster actually went ahead and added them, so I did it again. Figured it’d be fun to post it here along with my reasonings.
Tumblr media
S-tier: Lex and Superdoomsday are obvious. Darkseid arguably shouldn’t be here because ‘Superman villain’ is at most a tertiary role for him, but if we’re going with it he’s of course tops. Subjekt-17 is everything most of the D-tier villains aren’t as a living, breathing challenge to Superman’s ideals and priorities as a hero.
A-tier: Mxyzptlk, Bizarro, Terra-Man, Titano, Solaris, and Xa-Du the Phantom King are all I trust reasonably self-explanatory. Ghost Soldier as the by-the-book boy willing to fight Superman in the name of making Hard Calls is worth having around but didn't seem to make much impression, and Prankster was always fun even before his all-timer reinvention under Busiek as a distraction-for-hire.
B-tier: Brainiac, Metallo, and Parasite are all major names who never live up to the ideas that are either there from jump or have been bolted on over the years, but they’re still by no means bad. Livewire’s fun, and Nimrod has only been there the once but has nothing but potential. Vandal Savage I guess has starred as a Superman villain a few times,  while he's often bad it's never in a way that makes me think of him as anything less than a delightful character at his core when expressed by the likes of Morrison and Waid in other stories. Mr. Oz is terrible, but Jor-El himself as a not villainous but certainly antagonistic force in Bendis’s run as Superman's disapproving old-world dad whose place in the family is up in the air is fantastic.
C-tier: Leviathan, Atomic Skull, Red Cloud, and the Kryptonite Men are all...there. Ultraman, Mongul, and Zod all would have been D or F tier for their prominence relative to their lack of interesting ideas (or in Zod’s case the failure on the part of creators regarding his interesting ideas), but Bendis has managed to do a bit of work with each of them suggesting viable paths forward. Toyman SHOULD be one of the greats, but when he’s been portrayed as a fun character it feels like he’s never had his ‘distraction-for-hire’ scale breakthrough, and when he’s NOT a fun character he’s a pedophilic serial killer; his highs aren’t as high as you want them to be, and his lows are cavernous. And Puzzler I’ve only seen in Up, Up, and Away!, but she was fun there.
D-tier: Ulysses, Rogol Zaar, Manchester Black, Wraith, and Gog each have at least one truly great idea in play apiece, but have been so poorly executed that to salvage them at this point would take a comprehensive top-to-bottom revamp if not in fact a reboot.
F-tier: Eradicator, Cyborg Superman, and Doomsday are the unholy trinity of overblown no-hopers springing out of the 90s placed in positions of prominence by their roles in that time who enduringly make stories worse by their presence. Doomsday in particular, while not the worst of the lot, has the unique distinction of having a raft of riffs on him - Superdoomsday, Jimmy as Doomsday in All-Star, Davis Bloome, Devastator - every single one of whom are better. To fix them would mean making them those characters in name only. Those next two dudes from Jurgens and Johns’ runs whose names I don’t even remember are nothing, as is Equus. And while I haven’t read the Sand Superman Saga, my impression is that not only is he nothing too, but that story was the prototype of the modern “Superman is broken and we need to fix him” epic.
Don’t know: Never read anything with Master Jailer, Silver Banshee, Bloodsport, Rampage, Chemo, Conduit, Bruno Mannheim, Hellgrammite, or Riot in roles of note, and Maxima started out as a charitably dicey character but has been overhauled into a much more palatable one who now has basically nothing to do with Superman and I don’t know how to rank that.
Here’s the tiermaker in question if anyone wants to take their own crack at it.

the messages about oc interactions got me thinking about oc interactions with canon dudes, so ! i found a twisute tiermaker and decided to make one based on vinh’s thoughts on other students
below the cut !
t1: she’s got a bit of a ‘clashing siblings’ relationship with idia, and for as much as they grate on each other’s nerves — she does care for him, even if she’d never outright say so. it’s usually tough love from vinh, but she’s bound to come rushing if he’s ever in need.
t2: so vulnerable... they’re too human (save for the cat). vinh can’t help but want to hover and spoil them in anyway they want. she adores ‘weak’ people, even if it sounds a bit demeaning — she wants to see them grow stronger, even if she doesnt say it or it doesnt show on her face. they don’t even have to be magically or physically weak, so long as some part of them strikes her as ‘in need’, she’s inclined to take them under her wing.
t3: respectable students, she sees them as very capable individuals — she has no need to hover so closely, but she’ll do it out of politeness if asked. enjoys their company enough, won’t try to flit away as soon as she can. (azul is a special case, he makes her quite cautious however she still views him in an admirable light. she’s bound to flit away from him quicker than she would for other people in this tier however.)
t4: they’re cute. a chunk of them are first years, and that’s just because she thinks of them as incredibly... well, wet behind the ears. she’s fond of their naivety (read: stupidity), it warms the frigid heart like no other. she might mess with the people in this tier a bit — even her frigid facade is no match to the sheer power of idiots. she wants to tease them a bit — and she’ll do it all with a straight face, but just know that on the inside, she’s smiling. ah, humans... (and grimm). she’ll help them - no doubt, but expect some very subtle teasing that might fly right over their heads. that’s good - she likes morons.
t5: they’re respectable people in all honesty, but they’re so very... needy. she’s a very flighty person and it’s not very fun when someone aims to melt your wings when you’re trying to get things done. she’ll do favors for them when asked — with a bit of reluctance but nonetheless, she’ll do it. she’ll be pretty careful. might accidentally get dragged into something, but she’ll find a way out somehow.
t6: ah well, something about how equally flighty and mischievous they are makes her suspicious. they’re not very grounded people — and they’re certainly enough of a threat that she can’t consider them weak. they unsettle her because she can’t get a full grasp on them. they don’t seem to be a commanding/demanding type either, it’s too strange, it’s too familiar — she’s rather cautious.
t7: these are people who also try to stay in the shadow of someone else — a concept that vinh is very familiar with. vinh’s not particularly inclined to go hunt them down, and they’ve rarely (if ever) come to her for anything — she just doesn’t know them.
t8: she’s a model student! she’ll do anything that teachers ask, but the issue is when they expect more than what they asked for. vinh’s never one to go further than she has to, but model students need passion and sadly, that is tragically what vinh lacks most. ashton tries to get her fired up and raring to go, but she’s much too placid; dire is too eccentric and extreme while vinh is much too serene and sensible — at the very least, mozus tolerates her ability to follow instructions. her obedience is more along the lines of something akin to a tired but capable secretary when it comes down to academics.
