Radford Racing Continues Wildhorse Motorsports August 2023

I am really excited about this news, announced Monday July 31, 2023 actually:

Radford Racing School announces major business expansion at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, including NHRA-sanctioned drag strip, to remain open and part of the school’s growing business near Chandler, Arizona. By collaborating with the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park on the Gila River Indian Reservation to keep these courses open;

* 10-turn, 1.25-mile road course; the

* 11-turn, 1.1-mile road course with 3/8-mile straightaway; and the

* 1/4-mile NHRA-sanctioned drag strip open and available to Radford students.

Radford Racing School’s existing tracks include:

* 15-turn, 1.6-mile main track designed by champion racer Bob Bondurant in 1990, and recently upgraded and a

* .75mile kart track and

* 10-acre skills pad

Off-track, a newly renovated guest center, track-side student lounge, gift shop, and event center complete the Radford Racing School experience, which is shared by thousands of drivers from the around the world each year. Now that all tracks will remain open, Radford has the capacity to accommodate more students and classes, offer new automotive experiences, and the ability to bring major automotive and motorsports related events to the region. With this news, Radford Racing School is now the largest driving and racing school in the world, spanning more than 447 acres.

It's an extremely versatile facility, not to mention enormous. What a lovely hybrid revival from the late 50s by Zagato themselves, 9 coupé & 9 speedsters upon 356 chassis as Ferry had specified decades before at the behest of Claude Storez, a Prince among racers. Sadly a crash in the one produced in period lead to Storez demise and the racecar’s disappearance. In 2015 Zagato fabricated these 18 cars, 3 with Carrera engines, (one Speedster), completing them according to in period craftsmanship. Sean Smith and Ben Branch of Silodrome have done superb articles on one of the examples.
