#slowpractice under #performance conditions For #fastplaying passages I practice #undertempo with #tinybow strokes which have #stickysounds This prepares #qualitysound as the passage gets #fasterandfaster Here’s an example of a #practiceroutine I use and teach my #violinstudents learning J.B Accolay’s #violinconcerto in #aminor 5 videos: 1) Practice half measures with pauses. Include all #dynamics (don’t wait until the passage is learned to do the #crescendo and #decrescendo ~swipe left~ 2) Slightly faster. One measure at a time. ~swipe left~ 3) Slightly faster. No pauses. Don’t forget dynamics! ~swipe left~ 4) Slightly faster, still under tempo. Notice how the small sticky bows are starting to sound “normal” ~swipe left~ 5) Performance version. Notes are clear and brilliant as a result of training the small bow strokes. I feel in control of the bow. Dynamics sound natural and clear as a result of including them all along. Swipe back to video 1 and notice how I am using the same amount of bow at every speed! the clintons hate poc too and were openly against gay marriage for a very long time but go off i guess

ok i will! since we’re both two white folks discussing the feelings of black people, i’ll refrain from making vague statements about how they should feel about any given public figure and just point to straight facts: poc were hillary clinton’s most reliably loyal voting bloc, not just against trump but also in the democratic primaries. how do you explain that? they don’t know what’s good for them?

now, because you’re probably thinking about the 1994 crime bill when you say things like “the clintons hate poc” (a bill that caused great damage to communities of color), hillary has since apologized for that (even though she was only first lady at the time, and wives are not their husband’s keepers, etc. -- btw, bernie sanders voted for the bill in ‘94). now, in 2016, she actually had a really ambitious, comprehensive plan regarding criminal justice reform, with the goal of ending mass incarceration. 

and anyway, hillary clinton spent 2016 calling out white people for their racism, probably to her detriment at the polls, so i don’t even????

“were openly against gay marriage for a very long time” i once said in like 2012 that two boys kissing was kinda weird and now i love to get weird if you get my meaning. people change. we’re both young, i think, so it might be hard sometimes for us to grasp just how much progress has been made in LGBT rights in like the last 20 years. unless they beat anyone up for liking dick, i’m not super concerned that they thought marriage was between man and woman in 2002, if that’s not the case anymore.

and honestly, do i even need to pull up receipts on hillary’s support for the LGBT community? from publically going against her own husband’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy as far back as 1999, to countless recent examples i’m sure your memory has been able to hold if you were paying any attention. i’m tired now

there is definitely a fine line between making sure people understand the potential danger of a storm this size and sensationalizing. I think there was too much focus on it being a category 5 at one point and not enough on storm surges, which is where most of the damage is going to come from in places that aren’t in the direct path of the eye

while I was in St. Augustine, this reporter for channel 10 literally shoved a mic in this lady’s face outside a convenience store and was breathlessly shouting “WE SEE YOU’RE GETTING SUPPLIES, ARE YOU SCARED FOR YOUR LIFE RIGHT NOW?? ISN’T THIS STORM HORRIBLE??”

The Complete Dykes to Watch Out For - Alison Bechdel

I picked up "the new and improved dykes to watch out for" collection recently and was blown away. The characters are so vivid and developed, dealing with issues that are considered wildly progressive even by today's standards. Plus the drawings are gorgeous. I want to read all of it.
