Thanks! Sorry I took 1k years to respond. I’m very sorry. But to answer your question, he’s very optimistic and kind (which is why his name means positive) but he does have a violent side due to being a crocodile, his Godbrother is Hodari and his blood brother is Hasi (negative), Hasi is the opposite of Chanya and loves aggression, being mean and being spiteful.

He's a sweet lil guy!!! Definitely love his enthusiasm for sure.

Dude's got all the croc moves memorized! Technique is v important :)

7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?

Honestly, I really like that he's given as much love and attention as the main characters!!! tlg fandom really knows how to appreciate their side characters :3

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

I think he takes some of the croc moves and teaches his own lil self defense class to all the small reptiles of the Pride Lands and Outlands! He probably would get some students from the Back Lands too, I'd bet.

/There’s a post going around about which Lion Guard episodes are most essential/important to the plot, which I think is all well and good if you only want the bare-bones of the show and are only in it for the TLK2 characters/Tree of Life lions or whatever, but I think honestly does the show a disservice. There’s a lot of really good episodes in the first two-seasons that, while not ‘essential’ to the plot, really enhance the viewing experience as a whole, and these incidental guest-character driven episodes are usually a lot better than most of the ‘plot-driven’ ones. If you watch only the ‘plot relevant’ episodes of the Lion Guard you’re probably not going to like it very much

So rather than making a list of episodes I would recommend for first-time viewers, here’s a list of episodes I would recommend skipping, which I think makes for a much shorter list:

Season 1:

1x3 “Bunga the Wise”: ESPECIALLY if you’re not a Bunga/Timon and Pumbaa fan

1x8 “The Search for Utama”: It’s a Fuli character development episode right after another Fuli character development episode, and in this one the song is much worse and it’s also pretty Bunga-heavy

1x11 “Paintings and Predictions”: Not terrible, but very skippable

1x22 “The Lost Gorillas”: If you care about cool world-building things then only watch the last two minutes of this one, otherwise Dan and Phil are in it and are pretty intolerable

Season 2:

2x1 “Babysitter Bunga”: The jackals are back and this is (weirdly) Dogo’s last speaking appearance, and the baby animals are cute, but I would say this is the episode of The Lion Guard that feels the most like a preschool show

2x3 “The Travelling Baboon Show”: The Lion Guard does ‘selfish character learns to put the needs of others before their own’ plot three separate times, and this is the worst execution of it

2x12 “Timon and Pumbaa’s Christmas”: Season 2 is The Lion Guard at its best once the Scar plotline gets going, but this is a major roadblock. Listen to ‘Christmas in the Pridelands’ because its a bop and should be on every Christmas playlist, but other than that I might call this the worst episode of the show (at least in terms of standalones)

2x18 “The Wisdom of Kongwe”: This episode centres on a lot of good characters; Makini, Makucha, Fuli, and newcomer Kongwe, but none of them really have anything interesting to do. And the mission ends up not amounting to much.

2x22 “The Zebra Mastermind”: The zebra in question is maybe the worst character on the show, and a lot of this episode focuses on him and the ‘sidekick’ villains, who are usually well-meaning and dumb enough that you feel bad watching them get beat up. And this episode is a lot of The Lion Guard beating them up

2x24 “The Underground Adventure”: If you like Zuri and/or Tiifu, watch this one, but skip it if you don’t. The only plot-heavy thing that happens here is that Scar tries to kill Kion and Kiara, but they escape through tunnels

2x27 “The Queen’s Visit”: Unless you really liked Dhahabu and wanted her to be more than a one-episode character, skip this one as well. There’s not a lot new that it has to offer other than fleshing out her zebra side-characters a bit

Season 3:

(Honestly, I would recommend stopping after Battle for the Pridelands. It’s a nice ambiguous book-end to the series, and IMO is better than the actual finale. But if you really want to know what happens and how it all links up to TLK2, watch on)

3x3 “The Accidental Avalanche”: Doesn’t add new recurring characters, and doesn’t do much other than act as the beginning of Kion’s ‘dark-turn’. I was almost going to recommend skipping the one that comes after it, but it does introduce one of the main villains

3x5 “The Marsh of Mystery”: Kind of generic characters-go-on-a-journey filler. The only positive is it gives Makini and Ono some screentime, development, and a good song

3x7 “Journey of Memories”: I almost wasn’t going to put this one on here, but I would only recommend watching it if you really like Makini. Her flashbacks to her parents and their song are what make this episode worth it

3x10 “Friends to the End”: ...I guess this one is kind of plot relevant, I just don’t think it’s done very well. It comes almost out of nowhere, feels out of character and low-stakes for everyone involved, and is a complete character assassination of Bunga (yeah, he gets worse). It does feature a cute Clouded Leopard though which is cool

3x13 “Little Old Ginterbong”: Only thing plot-relevant in this episode is Ono getting his eyesight back. Otherwise it features Bunga meeting a skinny pink female honey badger who is meant to be his love interest and is 10x worse than he is. AVOID. 

3x14 “Poa the Destroyer”: Beshte is the best character don’t @ me, and this is nice for his last spotlight episode. But other than a good song this episode is major filler, and the penguin might just be worse than the zebra.

Absolutely living for my friendship headcanons I made for the crocodiles and the lizards cuz they’re legit so fun to play around with

-First there’s Makuu’s canon friendship with Hodari the gecko

-Pua’s also taken Hodari under his wing so now the little guy has 2 crocodile mentors, not to mention he tells the former leader everything

-Ucheshi and Hodari are so close they almost share a braincell

-Kenge’s now a sort-of honorary crocodile to Kiburi’s float cuz they’re good friends

Not only is Kenge an ally, but Njano’s proven to be a pretty good friend to Kiburi on several occasions. Hell, @spinnysocks and I agreed that all of Kiburi’s float would be all buddy-buddy with the skinks. Neema and Nyeusi are aroace icons who watch all the shit go down, Nyororo/green skink helps Tamka with his acting by teaching him how to be more…believable ig? (and by teaching him how to fake flirt with someone lol). Nyata would definitely encourage Nduli’s sassiness and helps him come up with witty comebacks

YA’LL I EVEN GOT KENGE TEACHING NDULI HOW TO BE MORE INTIMIDATING AT ONE POINT THAT’S HOW MUCH I LOVE THESE HC’S

I’m even thinking about Tamka and Nduli eventually befriending Hodari. They may have only used him in the past, but imagine them being unlikely friends when the little guy helps them out with something. Just a lil something to think about :)

Also I can’t help but imagine Tamka mentioning how he was being used by the meerkat mafia one time (as I mentioned in an episode idea I had for him) and Hodari goes “Been there, done that” and Tamka’s all “You have? By who????……..Oh yeah, my bad”

pride landers unite! thoughts

-good ep for plot/worldbuilding

-nice that the guard discussed the effects that the outlander’s war is having on the herds and other pridelanders

-also nice that they addressed how ridiculous of an event it is, to have scar come back, and how simba refuses to let any of the pridelanders know

-coach makuu H A R D C O R E

-but really i love makuu, a lot of characters in TLG can be considered 1-dimensional, but makuu is really not. he develops and changes through the show and has motives for his behavior. he’s not too nice, but he genuinely cares about the pridelanders and wants to help them (which ma tembo acknowledged)

-logistically, it makes a lot of sense to want the herds to try and fight a war. i have this headcanon in my stories that some kings/queens/guards have utilized the herds in unison to ward off enemies. gotta admit, seeing it in action in the watering hole seen WAS pretty badass.

-now the guard has the crocs on their side, which is really useful.

-i love makuu, gotta say it again

I grew up watching Tom & Jerry, Warner bros cartoons all that, that's why I -personally- don't like constant singing haha. My ex happened to watched it too and he liked it (was the crocs trying to get the hippos territory or something) and we exchanged some hippopotamus behavior info (which impressed him because it was very accurate. Expect the territorial marking obviously haha). I agree they can suck it. How they can tolerate Kopa and bash TLG (that's truly canon)? Geez

At least you had fun amirite?

Hello Spinny!! Spins! The Spinniest Spinner!!!

woah I typed ‘spin’ so many times it doesn't even look like a real word anymore, lol. Anyway, about the outlanders!! I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what would cause their conflicts with the Guard, and because I think of the Guard’s “protecting the circle of life” job to be almost like park rangers, so in this au the Outlanders are mostly…

…poachers!.

I mean if we think about it, most of the “bad guys” in this show only had crimes revolving around hunting. (and Scar, but we're ignoring him for now.)

All of the Tree of Life villains, (except Mama but shes also got drugs soooo yeah), Mpishi, Makucha in the Imaginary Okapi… and most of the Outlanders!

Kiburi and his float commit violations of fishing laws, taking in more fish than the legal limit, keeping undersized fish, or fishing restricted areas. As for what they look like, all of the crocs are Latino. I’m still deciding which Central American country their ancestors hail from. How they ended up in Africa is beyond me, lol. (Some are Afro-Latino perhaps? Idk.)

Janja and the hyenas are Black, and, obviously, take more than their fair share. (what they’ve got the tags for.) (This is all based off of the Massachusetts hunting system btw. Just writing what I know.) Again, they take prey that isn't legal, like young calves. There are also certain seasons for certain prey, which they disregard entirely.

J: “I'm hungry for zebra. C’mon fellas, lets go get some lunch.”

C (either one): “But Janja, zebra doesn’t open for another two weeks!”

J: “I know that already you furbrain, I just don’t care!”

The Jackals? Same thing as the hyenas, just less intense and also toss thievery into the mix.

The vultures? I don't think they actually committed any crimes… other than arson, LOL. Def white/British tho.

So, as protectors of the land and the wildlife on it, the Guard butts heads with the Outlanders quite a bit in this au.

Pretty much all of the Outlander dynamics are similar to what they were in the show. The Outlands itself is the poorest part of the general area, as well as having the highest crime rates. It’s hard for someone born in the Outlands to get out, and hard for Pridelanders to understand why anyone would want to stay there.

Being from the Outlands would come with a bad reputation, one that takes a lot to push past in order to make friends with a Pridelander, like we see in Never Judge a Hyena by its Spots. I think that prejudice would be a fun thing to explore.

Speaking of Jasiri and her clan, they're probably doing the best out of the Outland’s groups. I don't have a design for her yet, but I'm working on it.
