So I noticed something in Nightmare Mode that I'm not sure if anybody else has mentioned yet.

Possible spoilers for the TNMN lore below.

So, you know how some of the nightmare counterparts have relevance to the real world? Like Yog being a vampire, and one of the Francis doppelgangers says blood is "scarlet milk"?

Well, we're all aware at this point that Dr. Afton is a reference to William Afton at this point, and his nightmare counterparts is basically Springtrap. HOWEVER, his counterpart is a skin collector, too, as mentioned by one of the documents he can hand you.

That, and recently it's been found out that Dr. Afton is possibly involved in the Trojan Horse Project, the project that probably created the doppelgangers in the first place. Really, the only way that he ISN'T involved is if it was a different Dr. Afton, which is unlikely. So, could the skin collector part be a reference to that? Like, the doppels basically "steal" the skins of the person they're pretending to be in order to sneak inside? Idk just food for thought.

This is sorta how I imagined my nightmare scenario writing to feel like. Unable to focus, scared, being criticized, then succumbing to painful failure.

I saw people saying maybe the nightmare residents represent something about them so I'm going to give my two coins of what they could mean if this is the case outside of being easter eggs characters

TW: Brief mentions of eating disorder, fear of blood, fear of pregnancy, Childhood trauma (Not really super detail), misogynistic and other fears, PSTD (not detail), insomnia, self esteem

Again these are few of the residents not everyone is going to be mentioned!

Mia: Her nightmare counterpart is the princess of death, so it could be that she might be pregnant and scared of dying in childbirth or scared her unborn baby dies in some way

Nacha: Pests are known to be bugs or animals that could cause problems for crops, livestock, food, etc. Maybe she has a fear of animals and bugs because she is a chef and food in kitchens in a café or restaurant normally attracts mice, rats, ants, flies, etc OR the place she works at has very unhealthy kitchen or someone really hates her guts and makes her scared with bugs and animals that cause pest when she is working

Anastacha: Her nightmare counterpart causes misfortune since Anastacha might not know her father (Francis), she might feel like she caused her mother (Nacha) to suffer by being a single mum and living in apartments even compared herself to her classmates who has houses and parents (mum and dad since this was 1950s.) While she has a single mum with no knowledge of her father. But another guess based on theories by this fandom that Nacha was married and cheated on her husband with Francis (playing on the milkman child thing) causing Anastacha being an "Affair baby". So if this is the case, Maybe Anastacha knows she is an "Affair baby" and thinks she caused misfortune on her mother and her mum's husband by being born from an affair.

Elenois: since she is a model, she most likely dealt with very misogynistic men, maybe the misogynistic men demonised her.

Selenne: she has low self esteem and thinks she causing problems for everyone.

Francis: Fear of blood

Izaack: Eating disorder

Roman: He probably has put people in deep debt

Lois: insomnia since her nightmare counterpart creates nightmares and I did look up if nightmares are related to insomnia and found out it can cause a high risk of nightmares (Correct me if I'm wrong!)

Gloria: Fear of death

Angus: He is probably doing shady business

Steven: PSTD from his time in the military

Mclooy: Fear of going insane (probably due to doppels)

Robetsky: Maybe he got trauma from hunting, probably when he was young boy

Albertsky: Childhood trauma (Maybe whenever he was born and years he was teenager and child the punishments he got were very cruel)

So someone on reddit sloved tnmn nightmare mode letter the Clown dude but trying to be mysterious gives the player

So you are going to hear me yap about the doppelgangers

So I was right about the doppelgangers being created in my guesses of what anti D.D.D note means.

So the doppelgangers was created by in universe unnamed military company of the government (again also unnamed of where this government is)

The doppelgangers are apart of a project called the "The Trojan Horse project" (Named after The Greek mythology)

They were created around 1945 (Meaning they been around 10 years in the events of Tnmn)

They were two main people behind this a new character called "Oswald d keppler" and an old character "DR.W.AFTON"

My theory is doppelgangers were created to be spies for a fictional war then a real life war that happened in the past

But at some point the doppelgangers got loose.

Either the doppelgangers think people in the apartments are soilders/nurses for the rival of this unknown fictional war aka being the "goal" or they know they are man made creatures causing them to have a hatred for humanity and want to end humanity for that reason or they were exposed to the violence nature of war and they started to mimic it or if they are human experiments they might want revenge on the people who wronged them.

We still don't know if the doppelgangers were human experiments or actual man made creations.

But that just a theory
