Question when was the first time you had a teacher with a disability? And were they open about it?
#teacher#teachers#teaching#education#disability#disabilities#like I know I’ll be open to my students about having ADHD and Dyslexia and about my sensory issues and speech impediment#like first day I’ll tell them I have trouble speaking clearly and please ask me to repeat what I said if needed or slow down#also about my sensory issues and hopefully they would try and keep their voices down#to answer my own question in sixth grade my history teacher had Parkinson’s but she had to leave halfway through the year due to it#also in 6th grade my resource room teacher was so passionate when it came to the book ‘Out of my mind’ because of her son#I still remember her passion 6 years later#also probably not until 10/11 grade when I had a teacher who was open about her disability#my history teacher she’s a type one diabetic#she’s one of my fav teachers I hope my sister gets to have her one year
