So somehow, and please do not ask me how, but somehow I ended up on the President’s email list of donors.  His campaign or whatever has been sending me emails for the past couple of days saying that to remain a sustaining member, which I am guessing means that to continue to receive updates on how things are going or whatever, then I need to donate.  The minimum is $10.  The email says I have until 11:59pm September 30, 2017 to donate.  If I donate by this deadline then my name will be included on the list that the President himself requested because he wants to know.  I am sorry Mr. President, but there are more important things going on in this country and the world than who likes you and who donates to you.  Maybe instead of requesting a list of names of people who donate money to you and your “campaign” you should focus on the needs of the people in this country.  And not just the people who like you or voted for you but the entire country.  If you haven’t noticed sir this country is hurting, badly.  And so many of the people in this country are crying out.  Look at Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico.  They have been devastated by the natural disasters of hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria.  Look at Charlottesville, that was a horrible horrible event that happened and is still happening by people who believe, that they are better than other people just because of the color of their skin.  And, sir in my opinion, you are the one who gave those people a voice.  Because you stand before the American People and share your opinions, which is your right under the first amendment, but a lot of what you say cannot be backed up by fact.  To me sir you come off as an angry white man who longs for times gone by where the white privilege was swept under the rug.  Sir it is 2017 times have changed and even though you are older and most older people do not like change I personally think you should embrace the change that is happening in this country and around the world.  Embrace it in the way that you have embraced twitter.  And maybe use your voice for something good instead of something hurtful and hateful, which goes against the Christian beliefs you profess that you have.

Malacañang on Napoles
Dear Mr. President,
ngayon papayagan ba natin siyang maging state witness?
Mr. President, bakit parang napakaespesyal naman ata ni ms napoles.

To the President:
Dear Mr. President (Barack Obama - to be exact),
First off, I'd like to say how much of an inspiration you are. Not just to me, however, but to the entire Black community. You, indeed, bring "dreams" to a whole new level. And I honestly just want to say thank you. I know, it's sort of cliche for me to be all sprung off the fact that we have a Black President in office. However, as a Black man (a YOUNG Black man - at that), how could I not be overexcited? How could I not jump for joy whenever somebody mentions your name? How could I not get offended when somebody bashes you? How could I not want to tweet any and everything you say every five seconds? Like, if I didn't react the way I did - that would lowkey be suspect. Nevertheless, you're amazing. And the fact that you're striving towards your dreams is purely inspiring.
Barack (may I call you "Barack?"), I am a young Black writer. And my main goal - my main focus is to inspire the world through my poetry. I know, it sounds like quite a mission; but when I see poets like Langston Hughes creating an outline for writers such as myself, I know it's possible. Now, why do I mention this? Well, it's almost simple. Black poets have for decades hit the same bump in the road when it comes to the poetry community on a national scale. You see, I want my poetry to be read in many magazines. I want people to connect with my words, with my passion. I want to inspire readers and poetry lovers alike. I want to show various communities that dreams are possible. And they do come true. So, where is my bump at? The poetry community is predominately White. Or, that's the way it seems. That being said, Black writers are known to be too "aggressive," "political," "sensitive," and "honest." Therefore, because we seem to be all that - we don't get a break in the poetry community. And because of this, young Black poets don't have many idols to look up to. No mentors that look like them to keep them striving - to keep them fighting for that dream - for the impossible.
Now, Barack, don't take me out of context. I felt the need to share this to let you know that I will never give up. I plan on making my dream a reality. But, not just for my benefits. I want to be the example for Black poets, young and old, that there is hope for our community. Just as you did. I plan on striving for excellence and striving for the "impossible." One day I WILL inspire the world through my poetry. I have my heart and mind made up. And I can truly thank you for that. Listening to you speak, watching you strive, seeing you never quitting, is truly an inspiration to me (and I'm sure hundreds of others). And I want to say thank you.. again, hahaha! I mean, there are hundreds of people against you and you still reach for the stars. And that's what I will do. Besides, once you reach your star; you're going to need some company right?! See you there Barack!
Best Wishes, LJ Hughes
