I agree that Niall has a pretty good chance of reaching number 1 in the UK. His biggest competition would probably have been Tom Grennan, but he has now postponed his album to the following week. Janelle Monae and Jason Isbell are also coming out with new albums, but I doubt that they will beat him.
In the US, he will also have to compete with older albums by Morgan Wallen - his album was on top of the chart this week with 129k units sold in its 12th week as number 1 - Taylor Swift, and Sza. Heartbreak Weather debuted at number 4 with 60k units sold, and if the new album sell around the same number, it could still debut within the top 5. I think the big question is how many vinyls The Show is going to sell. They didn’t have vinyls on the release date of HBW, but different collectable vinyls have featured pretty heavily in the release strategy for the new album. Announcing the album so far it advance and making it open for pre-orders must also mean that Niall’s team have a pretty good idea of how well the album is going to perform first week.
I hadn't seen what the numbers were in the US - it does seem unlikely that Niall will sell those sorts of numbers. But it does sort of depend on how much the numbers can be boosted.
It's been a long time since Heartbreak Weather and strategies have changed significantly. There was no need to have your vinyl ready before the album dropped then, because you could bundle a digital download with the vinyl and it'd be counted (at least in the US - that's why Folklore was announced when it was - in fact Taylor's albums are often good ways to trace when billboard rules are changing. Speak Now is coming out just after the rules allow bundling again).

My 72 yo Dad is a swifty.
He is a massive music fan, literally any type which is probably where I get it from.
He watches you tube and reads online music reviews.
I spoke to him last night and had a long conversation about Taylor and her music. All about the rights to her work and re recording them.
He has a man cave in his house with his record player and I don’t even want to guess how many vinyls he has. Some are from the 60s.
He thinks Taylor is an amazing singer, writer and musician.
I need to protect this man at all costs, my Dad is the sweetest.
He will ring me up and say oh have you heard the new Tom Grennan song or Ed Sheeran is taking over the top 10 this week.
🤣

Little something about me!
Hi all of you lovely people! I thought that I haven’t really introduced myself around here for a while and I’ve received quite a few new followers since, so I thought I would give it a little go. I’m not sure if people really care who the bloggers are on Tumblr, but I like to know something about those I reblog from the most so here we are!
Well first of all my name is Sara, I’m from Finland and I was born in 1997 so I'm currently 23 years old. However, I always forget to update my page and up until yesterday it still said I was 19 so... When I’m not procrastinating on Tumblr I study social studies at the University of Helsinki. I’m starting my second year in the autumn, so I still have a year until I need to decide what I’m going to major in. I think it might be development studies, but I’m not quite sure! I’m really interested in themes such as human rights, global justice and equality, gender equality etc. but also war history and conflicts.
Other that, on my free time I enjoy spending time at home - lol. When I say my age, I should say I’m 23 going 64 because I just love staying home, baking, knitting, doing other kinds of crafts and attending to my small garden at the back of my row house apartment. I really enjoy reading books and also watching films and analyzing everything from sound design to camerawork and colours. I also love music and I think music should be appreciated as a form of art rather than background noise and I’m a huge advocate for listening to full albums, instead of just singles. I actually have a vinyl player I use for listening to all my favourite albums, so you see I really belong to the 1960′s or something. Some of my favourites include Florence & the Machine, Arctic Monkeys, Tom Grennan, The Blossoms and so the list continues. I also love music from the 60′s and 70′s. None of my favourites really play live in Finland so I travel to London several times a year just to catch a few gigs whenever I go. So If I do leave home, I usually do so in order to go to London haha. Oh and I also work part time as a shop assistant for a Finnish design brand “Iittala”. I spend way too much money there, but at least my apartment is always filled with beautiful items!
I’ve ran this blog for quite a many years now, alternating between periods of being very active and then less so. My first Tumblr blog is still my most active one ,the url is currently @noorasaetre-trash, but its theme has changed throughout the years quite a lot. At first I was all about The Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Sherlock and Supernatural but since then it has changed into a.. well simply a big mess. Now it’s mostly memes, posts about whatever show I’m currently binging and then what happens to appear on my dash. But anyhow, if you’re being followed by that blog, then you’ll know it’s me yay! I also have an “aesthetic” blog which is @pastels-and-rainydays. So I try to keep this blog very much about Austen’s work and sometimes other period dramas, which are always tagged with “other”. If you want to find me on instagram then it’s @Sara.oona, I used to post a lot but nowadays I mostly stick to stories! I no longer have time for editing my photos and it’s too much pressure to keep a nice feed going - although one really doesn’t have to, but that’s just who I am as a person, everything has to be beautiful! So using stories is a lot more stress free and in the moment in my opinion.
So here’s a little bit about me and in return I would love to hear some of you people introducing yourselves!

I don’t have much to be proud of at the moment but I’d like to think that I can be proud of being pretty good at finding artists about to go big. Right now one of my predictions, Tom Grennan, is about to hit it big but I identified him as one to watch in mid 2016 and I’m confident enough of his talent that I’ve already purchased a signed vinyl
However. I’ve inadvertently reminded myself that I’ll be hitting that dreaded Three Zero later this year - he had an interview with NME about him meeting his hero, Alex Turner from Arctic Monkeys. I remember when Arctic Monkeys were themselves unknowns about to hit big. Seeing musicians now talking about how they idolised bands I grew up with is... disconcerting. And depressing, if I’m perfectly honest

Barn on the Farm 2018
Tumblr media
The premise of BOTF is to support smaller and up and coming artists, having in the past provided crucial stepping stones for now huge names such as Catfish, Ben Howard, etc. and this is something we loved about the festival. Here at Dr Vinyl our main aim has always been to support up coming artists, having started our magazine by visiting and reviewing small gigs often by music students in Brighton.
BOTF is not a commercial festival which is a refreshing break from the rest of the festival season nowadays; the ones we once loved seem to be growing more expensive and more – I hate to say it- mainstream, every year, and the focus has been shifted to making money rather than providing the best experience. But as I said, Barn on the Farm is not one of these and its great! Consisting of a couple thousand people - a lot calmer than many other weekends away - there is a tremendous sense of community and an all round friendly atmosphere. As the site itself is relatively small and not too densely packed with partiers, it was a common occurrence to walk past the artists you’ve just seen perform and stop for a chat.
Given that the festival is set on Over Farm in Gloucester, the scenery is beautiful; fields where you can strawberry pick, hanging baskets of flowers, fairy lights and other decorations. For anyone familiar with Boomtown festival, the stage design is similar to that of the Oldtown sector. One is actually set up inside the barn itself raised on the top floor, so festival-goers can stand beneath and get a great view of the performance!
We saw some fantastic new acts such as The Howl and The Hum which we certainly see a bright future for. By now we know BOTF gives potential-next-big-thing artists the leg up that they need, and will be keeping our eyes on these few over the next couple years!
Aside from the smaller acts, the mainstage artist graced us with amazing performances. Zak Abel, Tom Misch, Tom Walker and Tom Grennan were audience favourites, drawing almost everyone to the main stage pit for a party.
Another personal favourite was Barney Artist. It was a brilliant act to break up all the various indie bands with some hip hop to get everyone dancing – and a charismatic and humorous performer which was entertaining to watch even if you don’t like the genre.
Besides the artists, there was plenty of other entertainment provided. There were animals to be fed, ranging from the normal pigs, donkeys etc. to the unusual emus! As mentioned earlier, there was strawberry picking, yoga, pottery, and you could even get a private plane ride!
An eco-friendly approach was also taken to the weekend by which attendees pay a £3 deposit for a re-usable cup to put their drinks in during the weekend. This was a great way to reduce waste, as we’ve all seen the apocalyptic-like sight at the end of a festival weekend, where cups and rubbish litter the floor as far as the eye can see.
In conclusion we highly recommend Barn on the Farm to anyone looking for a light hearted weekend away featuring some top quality live music. We’ll be getting our tickets asap!

This is most difficult task I’ve ever had to do for this blog. I cannot choose my highlights! I loved each and every gig I attended this year. So many special moments I witnessed thanks to incredible artists who gave 100% to their audience. So I will try to name a few gigs and I will let you know why they were special to me. I apologize already since this blog post will probably the longest I’ve ever done.
My gig highlight of the year: Marteria
I saw him twice – at Gurtenfestival and at his headline show in Zurich. Both times he completely took over the whole venue and the people were at his command. The atmosphere was incredible and the energy blew the roof of the building. But my fondest memory is actually the morning after the Gurten gig. We literally stayed awake until the clouds were purple again which is one of Marteria’s songs “Lila Wolken”. It was the perfect ending to a very special four days at the Gurtenfestival.
The most special venue: P!nk
When it was announced that P!nk would only play 5 odd shows this summer I knew I had to go to Berlin to see her. I’ve never been to Berlin so it was even more special. I love the city and I loved the two gigs at the Waldbühne. A stage set into midst of a very green forrest just outside the city. It was raining a lot but that didn’t matter. Finally after years I saw my P!nk again. I grew up with her and her gigs and it will forever remind me of my childhood. It was just perfect.
My first interview: Naturally 7
I’ve always been a huge fan of the 7 lads from America but this summer they actually made a huge accomplishment possible. They agreed to give me my first interview for Kekoas Korner after their wonderful gig at the Live at Sunset the day before. I will always be very grateful for that and will support them forever. Their shows are brilliant and I would suggest if you haven’t seen them – go see them!!! It’s well worth your money plus they really make an effort to meet the fans after the show. Go say hello.
My first time as a Merch Seller: Welshly Arms
The guys from Welshly Arms were looking for a volunteer to sell their merchandising. Obviously I took that opportunity 🙂 Let me just say each and everyone of them were super nice and very grateful that I helped them. I was happy to help plus I got to witness an amazing gig! Being a Merch girl is great and I loved to talk to all the fans about the band. I also got to interview the guys from Welshly Arms before their show.
The best entertainer EVER: Robbie Williams
Robbie Williams is hands down the best entertainer and knows how to put up a good show. He rocked the Letzigrund for around two hours and blew fireworks and confetti and fire into the air like there was no tomorrow. He also brought out his dad which gave the show a very cute touch. Only recently it was brought to our attention that Robbie Williams actually was quite sick during that performance after which he flew directly to London into the intensive care unit for a week. It was actually a miracle that he performed that night! Thank you for that but please next time listen to your body Mr. Williams and cancel the show.
The longest show with the most stars: Capital’s Summertime Ball
We spent 7 hours at the Wembley stadium in London and got to see so many stars. Bruno Mars opened the show. JP Cooper, Niall Horan, Charlie Puth, Dua Lipa, Clean bandit and this is just the beginning. My highlight was that I finally got to see Sean Paul live. He did an amazing job and since he was quite close to the end he took my last energy so that I was seriously knackered and couldn’t enjoy Little Mix who closed the show.
The hottest gig: Pegasus
It was July and it was boiling hot. The Pegasus gig was at 8 IN THE MORNING on a ferry on lake Zurich. It was the perfect weather and the perfect gig. Pegasus are a super talented band from Switzerland and everyone just had a good time and by the time it finished we were already sweating.
The most colourful gig: Coldplay
oznor
oznor
It took me years to like Coldplay and to make me want to see them. This summer I suddenly felt the urge so within two weeks I organised a little trip to go to Frankfurt and see them. The weather was awful but the gig was great! Tove Lo and Femme Schmidt supported them. But what I liked the most were the colours. I have never seen such a colourful concert and what I also loved was how appreciative the band was.
The best rock gig: Stone Sour
oznor
That’s a hard one. I really loved Guns ‘N Roses and you know they are just legendary! Mando Diao were incredible to see live and I want to see them soon again! But I think I will give this one to Stone Sour because they seriously f*****g rocked and Corey Taylor has an amazing voice aaaand he looks gorgeous! 😀
The most special voices: Tom Grennan
This one was also very close. Jacob Banks and Tom Grennan went head-to-head. Both have super special voices which give me goosebumps and both are very very talented. But Tom Grennan got the call because he seemed more open to his fans and made the effort to meet each and everyone. This is what I want to see in an aspiring artist.
Best Newcomer 2017: KARAVANN
I got to meet the two lovely lads from KARAVANN for an interview before I even seen them live. They seem really serious about their venture and I have a good feeling about their journey. In August I finally got to see them live and believe me they didn’t disappoint. They have an incredibly international sound and they make sure that you have a good time at the gig. Please check them out and go say hi after the gig 🙂
The worst gig EVER: Kings of Leon
I didn’t think I would ever say this but unfortunately I had to witness the worst show ever from Kings of Leon. They didn’t want to be on stage, they didn’t know where they were and they played songs no-one wanted to hear. For an hour you could hear a pin drop in the Hallenstadion and everyone was quite baffled at how bad they were. Since I paid a lot of money to see them it was even worse. So two big thumbs down for you guys!
The most relaxing gig: Anastacia and Baschi at Bossard Arena
The people were super relaxed and to be honest the arena was quite empty. Nonetheless did we have a brilliant time! Anastacia was amazing and she is just a force on stage. Baschi is our Swiss Robbie Williams and entertained the sh*t out of the Arena. So I had space to dance, I knew the songs, I had an amazing time! 🙂
The Scandinavian gigs: Lukas Graham & Mans Zelmerlöw
oznor
mde
oznor
oznor
cof
I got to see the sound check of Lukas Graham and we spoke a little afterwards. Super lovely lads and just very talented and grateful to travel the world with their music. I’ve seen them twice already and they’ve done a brill job both times. Mans Zelmerlöw won the ESC and came to Switzerland twice already. Always very special gigs!
Kekoas Korner’s soft spot: Gavin DeGraw
oznor
cof
I literally grew up with his music. His song “I don’t want to be” is my hymn for anything. When I listen to the song I always have to sing out loud. He is an incredible musician and I am so glad that I was always able to meet him after the show. He is so nice. If you have the chance please listen to this guy.
The Irish frenzy: Walking on Cars, The Coronas, Tom Walker
dav
As you might know I go a little crazy for Irish bands.. 😉 The lovely Walking on Cars came to Switzerland 4 times this year and I saw 3 of them. Zurich, Lausanne and Lucerne. Each gig was different and I just love their music! They were supported by Tom Walker. Another Irish lad who’s very talented and is coming to Switzerland on 20th April 18. Go check him out! Lastly I got to interview the Coronas in October and the lovely Danny gave me some tips for my trip to Dublin.
The good times with Bastille
Bastille always make sure that everyone has an amazing time. We jump, we kinda dance, we sing. They are an incredible live band and unfortunately I won’t be seeing them next year on April, 20th 18. But please go and let me know how it was. The very talented brits are coming back with their newest record and I’m very much looking forward to see them some other time…. maybe at a festival again.
Best Merchandising Top 5:
1. Welshly Arms – This has to be number 1 since I sold their merch and I proudly did so because they really were amazing. I love the designs of the T-Shirts and the Jackets. They also had Vinyls and hats too. I still wear their stuff every other day. 2. Guns N’Roses – The designs of the shirts are amazing and I nearly got two shirts. 3. Ed Sheeran – He had a various range of Merch. I really loved the Army Jacket and the lumber jack shirt. The jacket was one of my favourite this summer. 4. Stone Sour – Lots of nice designs on T-Shirts plus signed Vinyls. 5. Amber Run – I loved the lion on their shirt and I still regret that I didn’t buy that shirt. Jacob Banks came really close to making it into the Top 5. He was selling a shirt where it said in this is merchandising and below Jacob Banks. I thought this was hilarious and I was this close to buying it.
All those gigs wouldn’t have been possible without the help of ARTNOIR magazine, Just Because, Mainland Music, ABC production and Goodnews. Thank you for supporting Kekoas Korner!
Lastly I want to thank all my concert buddies for joining me at various gig and for having as much fun as I did! ❤
I cannot wait for all the gigs in 2018! So bring on the new year 🙂
I’d love to know what your concert highlights 2017 are. Please leave a comment below or on Kekoas Korner social media channels Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
Kekoas Korner's concert highlights 2017. Read more by clicking on the below. This is most difficult task I've ever had to do for this blog. I cannot choose my highlights!
