Whenever I see a picture of Tom Hardy with his massive biceps out, the first thought that pops into my head is that that man must give the most exquisite hugs. It’s like the cottage core version of objectification or something
Yes!!! I know that man must give the greatest hugs - and back pats! Also 'cottagecore version of objectification' is so true and i'm borrowing it if thats okay... honestly this man can do it all, BJJ, jousting, made up accents... I love that for him so much!

Lawrence After Arabia (SPOILER ALERT)
Today thanks to the generosity and hospitality of @aivelin @steblynkaagain and @willdudedoo I watched the new “Lawrence After Arabia” movie and boy oh boy do I have thoughts, vibes and general WTFery (in no particular order) for you. Buckle up, lords, ladies and supreme rulers of the universe!
1. The soundtrack is... questionable. But we knew that already because it got released, complete with music video, so much earlier.
2. The CGI was... not good. We also knew that because we saw a snippet of it in the music video. But I was not expecting to see the entire screen turn green (like solid green) halfway through the movie. I really understand that the movie was crowdfunded but dammit, if I were a benefactor and saw this I would be severely disappointed. Why I personally refused to donate to this movie is a separate matter; please feel free to DM me if you want details.
3. The acting wasn’t the best. It sometimes felt a bit like a school play.
4. The movie tried too hard to be educational, especially in the beginning when the church custodian tells the little boy about Lawrence, during the public inquiry, during the scene when the secret agents read Lawrence’s file out loud and in the end after the funeral.
5. The movie was actually filmed on location in Clouds Hill, on the grounds and inside the cottage itself. The National Trust (the organisation currently looking after the property) initially denied Mark Griffin (the producer) permission to film on location. He then took to the media (both traditional and social) and ranted about how the National Trust denied his biopic but allowed a “Jane Austen and zombies” movie to be filmed on one of their locations until the Trust gave in.
6. There was a shitload of really random details from Lawrence’s life. Some felt like they were shoehorned in to make the film more educational.
7. I was astounded by the sheer amount of very “in your face” references to “Lawrence of Arabia” (1962), from “nothing is written” to numerous visual references (goggles hanging on the bush, shadow in robes) to literally naming a character William Potter to literally using the quote “the trick, William Potter, is not minding that it hurts”.
8. So many conspiracy theories! From the black car theory to Feisal possibly being poisoned. In fact the entire film is built around the premise that Lawrence was taken out by two secret service agents in a black car.
9. I really wanted to like Tom Barber Duffy as Lawrence but his performance was just... IDK, bland? There wasn’t much feeling there.
10. My notes here literally say: “did he just kiss Florence Hardy on the cheek?!” and that’s exactly what happened. We will revisit the Florence Hardy situation later.
11. I want the keffiyeh and the leather motorcycle gauntlets.
12. There’s a flashback to Ned’s childhood where he is seen receiving punishment from his mother. Sarah Lawrence displays a tactic I’ve seen among numerous Christian fundamentalists: she tells Ned she loves him and gives him a hug, then quickly pushes him away and proceeds to administer punishment, complete with the “I do this because I love you” messages.
13. Tom Barber Duffy’s visible piercings sparked joy in me. Thank you @aivelin for the screenshot.
Tumblr media
14. I was quite excited to see Laurent C. Lucas as Feisal simply because of the resemblance but, damn, he was disappointing and his attempt at a Hejazi accent wasn’t great.
15. Lawrence gets called a “bloody sadomasochistic little bastard” by the head of the secret service. So many opportunities for an intelligent short joke were missed in this movie.
16. “Feisal gives him status of son”. I thought that was Hussein? Am I confusing them? Can someone please help?
17. “If someone isn’t going to annihilate this little shit then I will”. Again, so many short joke opportunities...
18. SO MUCH talk about Ned and Oswald Mosley. I felt that at one point it was suggested that Ned may have sympathised with Mosley but I may be mistaken.
19. I have a weird feeling that Mark Griffin (the producer) was inspired by Matthew Eden’s infamous “The Murder of Lawrence of Arabia”.
20. Cally the dog is a very good boy and so far my favorite character. Cally’s performance was the best and is the only thing about this movie that deserves an award.
21. OMFG NED JUST FULL ON HUGGED FLORENCE HARDY
22. Is Mark trying to make Ned straight?!
23. What the fuck is going on with Ned and Florence Hardy and why does it look like Mark is shipping them?! During the 2 hour feature Ned kisses Florence on the cheek, Florence cups Ned’s face in her hands and kisses his cheek while he turns his head like he’s trying to get a kiss on the lips and then stops himself, Ned and Florence hug, Ned helps Florence down a fence/wall type thing and they have one of those moments where they stand a little too close, still holding onto each other and looking into each other’s eyes, then they hold hands while they walk to the village.
24. Ned pulls a gun on a journalist and almost shoots him. I’m sure this is a reference to that one time Lawrence punched a journalist for asking invasive questions.
25. Is Laurent C. Lucas in brownface make up?!
26. Why TF is Ned bathing in a basin if he has a whole-ass bathtub on the property?! Filming restrictions probably.
27. The secret service agents called Ned “a queer”. No context was provided as to why they would say that.
28. It would appear that the two secret service agents “were roommates” and “there was only one bed”. That is the actual setup of their room and they are filmed sitting on the one bed.
29. At this point my notes say that the soundtrack composer may have been inspired by the BBC News theme tune.
30. The accident is just a major WTF moment.
31. The blood pouring down Ned’s face is just... a lot.
32. Why was there a beep like when someone flatlines on a medical show?!
33. OMFG THAT DICK JUST WENT IN THERE AND INJECTED NED WITH SOMETHING
34. I liked Ned racing the train and the plane on his motorcycle. It was a fun touch.
35. Y’ALL LEAVE POOR MR BROUGH OUT OF YOUR SCHEMES, YOU SECRET SERVICE DIPSHITS
36. The dipshit blackmailed Mr Brough with a picture and I really want to know what was in that picture. Did I miss something?
37. Mark is really going to ride the whole black car thing to the death.
38. The inappropriately happy and upbeat version of “Jesu, Lover of My Soul” was used as the background for Ned’s funeral procession. It was supposed to be a march.
39. Mark Griffin has inserted himself into the movie as a secret agent and a voice-over guy.
40. Deraa was mentioned exactly twice, once as “an allegation” and referred to only as torture. No further context was provided.
41. Dahoum is referenced numerous times but without any context. I feel that Mark struggled to choose between the LGBT theory and his own heteronormative projections on Lawrence and decided to roll with both.
So there you have it. Two hours of my life that I will never get back.

Chapter 8: I knew
The morning of the third day since Jonathan Norbury's body had been found had started roughly for DS Miller, she hadn't have the chance to talk to Brian, neither as the SOCO nor her boyfriend, since the work in the cottage had turn into an all night venture, and with the time pressure on them finding any evidence was the most important thing at the moment, even more than date night with her and Freddie
And on the other hand she was grateful he didn't showed up, because that would imply she had to respond to his proposal to move together, and she would say yes, of course since Tom and Freddie like him and she was actually having strong feelings for him, and then she would have to tell it to Alec, and she couldn't do that to him, no yet at least.
They haven't been together that long and yet she could remember every afternoon working late in his house, with Daze pretending to not knowing anything but still making a nice dinner for the two of them, their silent walks on the beach where their silences said more than any loud scream.
But that was the problem with them, even when she hate to remember Joe, at least they fight there was more to their relationship than the silent understanding of loving each other, the biggest proof was that when she asked him to stop he simply said yes, and they move on, and they just resume their neverending friendship just like that.
That's why she couldn't move on with Brian, because that would hurt him and made him more emotionally reclusive, she just hope that Brian would be patient enough to wait for her.
A knock on the door make her stand up in a jump, she took her coffee mug and kiss Freddie and a reluctant Tom goodbye and wave at his father, before meeting his friend at the door.
"Morning" She said with a smile that was received with a dead stare like every time. "You look well rested" she joke and he only rolled his eyes at her before taking the coffee mug from her hands and taking a sip.
"The victims mother is at the station, apparently she saw the news and came all the way from London to claim his son's body" Alec said once he was inside the car.
"Yeah, well she is probably going to be difficult to deal with, Paul says they are wealthy people who own a major franchise of electronics shops" Miller said putting on the seat belt and starting the car.
Clementine Norbury was already waiting for them in the office, she was dressed in a tailored black pantsuit, and had short blond hair just like Jonathan, and the sad look of a broken heart in her blue eyes.
"Mrs. Norbury I assume?" Miller Said entering the office.
"Clementine is fine" She said extending her hand to her and then Hardy.
"I'm sorry for your loss madame, your husband call this morning announcing that you would come and asking about the case, and I'm sorry but we can't discuss anything about the case with you" Alec said trying to be polite.
"That won't be necessary detective, Hardy was it? I'm here on behalf of my son more than my husband" She said calmly.
"Excuse me?" Miller said confused since she was ready to have to calm down a posh entitled lady and this was completely different.
"I knew" She started and she took out her cellphone from her purse and put it on the desk "I knew my son was being unfaithful to Y/N, and I'm concerned that person could be responsible for what happened to him"
"Did you know this person? Clementine?" Alec ask coming out from behin the desk and sitting next to her.
"No, my husband and I, we were not thrill when he start dating a woman from Broadchurch, no offense" She said and Miller fight the urge to roll her eyes at her "But then we met Y/N and the positive impact she had on him, and I truly believed he was finally on the right path" Her voice crack for a moment.
"The right path? Instead of what exactly?" Hardy asked.
"He was a rich and handsome young man in London, what would you expect?" She said and Ellie knew her first instinct had been right "My husband send him here as punishment but a mere year later he was a changed man all because of her friendship"
Ellie walked out for a moment to make tea for the woman, remembering how Y/N had said she was only marrying him in London to make Clementine happy.
"And you didn't like Miss Y/L/N?" Alec ask the woman, remembering something he had read in Y/N's diary.
"She is a lovely woman, but if I'm honest I don't understand why my son was with her, but he was and in the end I just want him to come back home, and if that little town teacher would make it happen I was not opposing to their wedding" She said honestly, something Hardy respected but she was still an awful person.
"Mrs. Norbury when was the last time you saw your son?" He asked after a pause. "From the train station surveillance tape we know he never take the train last Tuesday, weren't you suspicious that he didn't showed up at home?" He said and start looking trough the folders on his desk.
"We are not going to look good on your provincial fearful of God eyes detective, I know" She started "But no, I was not worried because we knew he had been seeing another woman for the last six months and she had convinced him to finish his relationship with the teacher is simple, that's how life works, he ask us to cancel the venue like a month ago, and I was under the impression he would break up with her"
"But he didn't, did he change his mind again?" He finally found the picture he was looking for and look at it waiting for her to respond.
"He called me Monday morning, he said he regretted cheating on her and that the wedding was still on, and that this woman, whoever she was might take things badly, but that he was sure it was over"
"You didn't know? Not even her name? I mean she must have been important since she convince him to call off the wedding" He asked and make a sign to Miller to don't interrupt them since she was coming in with the cup of tea.
"She was a fling, I never thought he will cancel the wedding to marry the other woman, she only remind him he was not made to be a husband, and he wanted to be free, he always said she was not important, so I didn't ask"
"Clementine, do you recognize this?" He said showing her the picture of the crushed ring and the engagement picture they took from Y/N's cottage "Is this the same ring as this one?"
"Where did you find that? Jonathan said some stole it when that girl had one of his attacks two weeks ago, is my wedding ring" She said visibly shocked.
"It must have been hard to listen it was lost, were you mad at your son Clementine?" Hardy said pointing at his face.
"Of course I was mad, but not with him, I call her and I might have told her that well that she was not the woman for Jonathan... but at the time I thought they will be breaking up"
"And what happened next? Why didn't they break up?" He asked now looking straight in her eyes.
"I don't know, after that night he was acting weird. He got mad at me for calling her, he started to second guess his choice, he felt guilty about something, at the time I thought he felt guilty for cheating but now I don't know" She said now fully crying.
"Thanks Mrs. Norbury, that will be all, we will be in touch if something new comes out" Hardy said and Miller gave her the tea, she took two sips and composed herself before she could speak again.
"My son was not always a good man detective, but he didn't deserve to be killed, please find who did this" She stood up and walk away.
"Did you knew?" Ellie asked once she was away "Thay they have fight about the ring?"
"It was a hunch" He lied, remembering his promise to Dr. Florence about the diaries. "But it seems that something else happened that nigh"
"I know, otherwise he wouldn't have send the girl to her psychiatrist right after, do you think the side woman might be guilty?" She said taking the picture with the crushed ring.
"Maybe, first we need to found out who that was" He said and then he add more to himself "Why do they always have to be cheating?"
"Well I assume not all men in Broadchurch think like you" She said with a sad smile.
"This one is freaky!!" Brian said entering the room with unannounced and showing them a folder.
"What do you mean?" Hardy said a little surprised by the term he used to describe a murderer
"The blood remember?" He said showing him a picture of the living room after they remove the body. "I believe that was too much blood for a guy that was strangled, and it was"
"Brian, please go to the point before Hardy's head explodes" Ellie said looking at her friend loosing his patience.
"Al right, the blood on the floor had been frozen, it was the victim's blood but who ever did this collect about two pints of his blood and save it to set the crime scene"
"That's..." Alec was trying to find a word to describe the new information.
"Told you, freaky" Brian explained that the prints coming from the beach were in fact Norbury's but nothing much coming from the Cottage. "His house is something else, those guys were into weird stuff" He said and showed them the other folder and, the provocative underwear and sex toys that they recovered from the laundry basket in the victim's bathroom that Miller had overlooked.
Hardy felt uncomfortable looking at those pictures, not sure why, and he suddenly remembered.
"I need you to check those for DNA" He said. And both of them look disconcerted at him. "They might belong to the other woman" He add and Miller immediately understand.
"Other woman, what do you mean, you think these are not his fiance's?" Brian asked confused.
"We have evidence that he was cheating on her, and this woman might know something about his murder" Ellie explained.
"Well in that case, he might had it coming, he was already engaged, this lad must had been crazy to cheat on her" He said and Ellie smile thinking that maybe not all Broadchurch men were idiots.
Brian left with Miller to have lunch and Hardy hurried to lock the door and take out Y/N's diary, he scan the pages until he found what he was looking for.
Monday, April 15, 2019
11:00 pm. I feel like a child telling you this, but after dinner I tried to... oh my god this is stupid. I tried to have sex with Jonathan and once again he rejected me, is not like is super important but it has been like two months now, you are right doc, after he comes back we will have counseling together
He was disgusted to know that Norbury had been cheating on Y/N, so shamelessly on his house, but this might lead them to find whoever killed him. And he was starting to feel wrong about not telling Miller the truth about the diaries, then his thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door and he put the papers away quickly before opening the door.
"I'm sorry to interrupt Sir, but we found the victims car on an abandoned parking lot, with his suitcase in it" Harford said with excitement.
"Ok, let's go check it out" Alec took his jacket. "You can drive" He add to Katie disbelief.
"You want me to go? Shouldn't I call detective Miller?" She said unsure about what was happening.
"If you don't want to go, sure call her" Hardy said stopping for a moment.
"No, I want to go, sure let's go" She said and walked next to him to the cold morning.

Quarantine movie asks
@1920s-obsessed and @my-little-kraken tagged me for this, thank you both so very much! Loved reading yours. Here are mine:
Favourite movie: “Our hospitality”. I really treasure everything about this beauty.
Movie that makes you remember your childhood: “Babe”. The only movie I saw on the big screen during my teens. My friend and I sneaked to the cinema without our parents knowing, to see this, we were so bad!
Favourite Tom Hanks movie: “The ladykillers”, without a doubt.
Favourite Disney movie:  I loved the first silent-ish half of “Wall-E” (because of how much that cute little robot and his business reminded me of Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin). But my favourite ever animation is “Hoodwinked!”, no Disney.
Movie that makes you cry: Every time Lillian Gish tries to emote trauma or drama or sorrow or innocence lost she really gets to me.
Favourite 80s movie: “The purple rose of Cairo”. This period is seriously underrepresented in my watch list, though.
Favourite comedy: Every comedy by Buster Keaton or with Rock Hudson.
Favourite sports movie: Buster Keaton’s “College”.
Favourite courtroom movie: These never hold my attention. I’d like to go outside when watching a movie.
Favourite horror movie: “The hands of Orlac” (1924). Oh my. Conrad Veidt and his outrageous horrified looks at his horrible new hands.
Most overrated movie: “The artist” maybe. Mostly because I was so disappointed it was not more like a real silent movie. It’s pace, it’s focus, it’s intertitles.
Favourite gangster movie: “The informer” (1929). This gangster drama silent with heaps of bad choices by everyone got me glued to the screen. Plus Lars Hanson and Lya De Putti.
Favourite war movie: “Mrs. Miniver” impressed me. And “1917”.
Movie you can watch over and over again: All of Buster Keaton’s films! Of course. Including the painful ones, sadly. But what can a girl do. Also a year doesn’t go by without rewatching “It’s always fair weather” and “Lover come back” or “Send me no flowers”, my go-to comfort movies.
Movie with the best soundtrack: I really like to say thanks to Carl Davis here. For making his beautiful, beautiful orchestral scores for so many of my beloved silents. Whenever it’s possible I look for versions accompanied by his music. I sometimes even put on DVDs only to listen to the score (and imagine the movie).
Favourite Christmas movie: “Annie” and “It’s a wonderful life”.
Movie you’re embarrassed that you love: “Gubben i stugan” (1996). The old man in the cottage: basically a whole year in the life of an old man in his small forest cottage in Sweden, still living the way he did as a young man with his parents, the way they and the seasons taught him. This is 89 minutes of looking at nothing, really, still it is so relaxing, it doesn’t feel like a waste of time. I can’t be embarrassed about it. It’s just that I would love to find someone who’s weird enough to love this too! (You could try, it’s on YT.)
Favourite sequel: I can’t name one.
Favourite period drama: “Jude” with Christopher Eccleston and Kate Winslet. It’s just so raw and true. I still want to read the book by Thomas Hardy.
Favourite DC movie: I have no idea what DC means, so I’m going to say my favourite Leonardo DiCaprio movie is “Inception”.
Favourite movie quote:
Tumblr media
Sigh.
I’m going to tag everyone of my followers who likes to list their quarantine favourites too. I’d love to see more suggestions! Especially silents.

Sense and Sensibility (1995)
Tumblr media
It all started with Mr. Dashwood (Tom Wilkinson) telling his son, John (James Fleet) from his first marriage to take care of his father second wife and his three daughters because they will only get 500 pounds a year from Mr. Dashwood. John promise to help them but John’s wife, Fanny (Harriet Walter) thought the opposite, in the end, the ladies got nothing financially from him and he took their home. Elinor (Emma Thompson) prepare the staff and all to greet the new Mrs. Dashwood while Marianne (Kate Winslet) plays a mournful song on the piano and their little sister, Margaret (Emilie Francois) hiding in the treehouse. At dinner everyone is silent, Elinor tries to start a conversation but all Fanny talked about is her brother that will come to the estate later.
When Edward Ferrars (Hugh Grant) comes to the estate, enter the living room (?) and all of them are in there except Margaret. There is a constant battle of who is the lady of the house between Fanny and the Late Mrs. Dashwood (Gemma Jones). Edward is humbler than Fanny and they fall into an argument for a while with Edward supporting the Dashwood ladies. In the library, Edward found Margaret hiding under the table and then inform the Dashwood ladies about it. Edward got an idea to talk about atlas to make Margaret out from the table. As Edward stay in Dashwood estate, he becomes more familiar with the Dashwood ladies especially Elinor. Elinor and Edward start seeing each other. Fanny dislike how close Edward and Elinor are then told The Late Mrs. Dashwood that Edward will be disinherited if he married someone below their mother standard. It makes The Late Mrs. Dashwood announcing that the Dashwood ladies will move to a small cottage own by Sir John Middleton sooner.
Sir John Middleton (Robert Hardy) and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Jennings (Elizabeth Spriggs) are very friendly and warm they invited the Dashwood ladies to every event. Colonel Brandon (Alan Rickman) arrived late yet, finding himself attracted to Marianne. Colonel Brandon knew that Marianne doesn’t like him still, he tries to pursue Marianne. One day Mrs. Jennings invited the Dashwood ladies to have lawn bowl with Colonel Brandon. Mrs. Jennings thought that Marianne and Colonel only needs a little push but somehow Marianne looks upset and rudely rejected Colonel. When the ladies come home, Marianne talks about how annoyingly Mrs. Jennings is while the other ladies noticed there is a package arrived. It turns out from Edward, the Atlas that he promised to bring directly to them. Marianne who feel the tense in the atmosphere ask Margaret on a walk even though it almost rain. The rain comes and Marianne falls over the hill and twisted her ankle. Margaret comes back with a man that brings Marianne home. He is John Willoughby (Greg Wise), a nephew and the heir of Lady Allen. On the next day, the ladies are so excited to meet with Willoughby due to Marianne fall in love with him yet, Elinor finds him a little bit strange and suspicious but Marianne denies it by replying rudely to her.
Marianne and Willoughby spent a great deal of time together and it makes Colonel Brandon feel heartbroken but Marianne is too spoilt to ever think about other people feeling rather than her own. One day Colonel invites the Dashwood ladies, Mrs. Jennings, Sir John Middleton and Mr. Willoughby to a picnic. There Elinor meet Ms. Lucy Steel (Imogen Stubbs) and Mr. (Hugh Laurie) and Mrs. Palmer (Imelda Stanton) (Mrs. Jennings daughter and son-in-law). A letter comes for Colonel Brandon and Colonel Brandon need to go to London hurriedly and left the ladies of Dashwood with accompany of Willoughby to have a picnic of their own, Willoughby shows how he dislikes Colonel Brandon in the picnic. After the picnic end, Willoughby tells Marianne that tomorrow they should talk together alone. Marianne was so happy but, turns out Willoughby only saying that he must go to London immediately. After that day, all Marianne do is watching the outside hoping Willoughby to come back. On the other side, Elinor get to talk with Lucy Steel and Lucy tell her that she’s been engaged with Edward for 5 years. Mrs. Jennings thinks it is her job to make sure Elinor, Lucy, and Marianne to get married so, she invites the three ladies to go to London with her.
Arrive at London Marianne doesn’t stop sending Willoughby letter in hope he will reply and see her yet, the letter nor his presence never came. Due to John Dashwood and his wife, Fanny is in town, Marianne and Elinor obligate to see them which later makes them being invited to a ball that Fanny’s held. Because of forces from Mrs. Jennings, Elinor has to dance with the younger brother of Edward, Robert (Richard Lumsden) which later give Elinor the presence of Willoughby. Marianne see it and yell his name which they exchange greeting but Willoughby dismissed himself quickly and goes to a wealthy lady, Ms. Grey (Lone Vidahl). Turns out Willoughby seduced and abandoned Colonel Brandon ward, Beth, the illegitimate daughter of his former love and marrying Ms. Grey for the sake of money due to Lady Allen disinherited him. Meanwhile, Fanny and Lucy grow closer together, Lucy thought that she can tell her about her secret but it didn’t go well. Edward’s mother refuses to agree on the engagement but Edward stays true to Lucy and got disinherited. Colonel feels sympathy about it and gives Edward the parish on his estate through Elinor. Edward is so grateful yet guilty for he chose Lucy instead of Elinor.
Elinor and Marianne are going back to Devonshire but have to stay one night in the country estate of the Palmers that reside near Willoughby estate. Marianne takes a stroll in the garden even though it almost rain. She goes to the hill nearby Willoughby estate and the rain come heavily. Colonel Brandon goes to search for her and found her but she is in an unfortunate state. On the morning she is diagnosed to have an infection fever so, the Palmers goes away from the estate leaving Elinor, Marianne and Colonel Brandon alone. Colonel gets so anxious and asks Elinor what he needs to do, Elinor asks him to bring their mother here. On the next day, Marianne awake and in a better state when Colonel Brandon come back along with the Late Mrs. Dashwood. Marianne then has a new appreciation to Colonel Brandon and begin spending time together with him until one day Colonel must go away not for long but he can’t tell Marianne where he goes because it is a secret which reality, he goes to buy her a piano. Later, Marianne admits to Elinor that even if Willoughby choose to marry her, Love would not be enough for him anymore. One day the Dashwood ladies heard the news that Lucy already married to Mr. Ferrars and its broke Elinor’s heart because she assumed that Edward is already married but turns out Lucy is married to Robert Ferrars and Edward come directly to Dashwood cottage to propose Elinor. On the last scene, there is a wedding between Colonel Brandon and Marianne that Willoughby watches from afar and then rides away.
For your information, this movie is based on one of Jane Austen novels. More fact, I see the resembles between Jane Austen novels, Pride and Prejudice, and Sense and Sensibility. They both did have the scene of the male character happens to go directly to Ladies house and the Ladies try their best to behave and then the proposal happens. Every time I watch this movie and that scene come up, I always get mixed up with the scene from the Pride and Prejudice but, maybe it is only me who does that. Anyway, Emma Thompson who played Elinor is one of the writers of the screenplay. Compare to the novel, the movie shows us more of Edward and Brandon character while in the novel the only male character that springs out is only Willoughby. The story is very good due to the fact that it did explaining the error of the novel like making Edward and Brandon character more visible so that the viewer can actually feel the love process between the couples. The actor and actress also being selected in a very excellent way with the evidence that they did a great job in portrait their character of the movie. I like Colonel Brandon character and Elinor so much because they act really mature in handling their love problem while I very dislike Marianne character. She is very rude to Elinor and also, she is rude to Colonel Brandon for if she is rejecting him, she should be clearer about it and politely. She also judges Colonel too quickly, for me what happened to her is worth it and she actually not worthy for Colonel Brandon but still at that time and place, Marianne character is acceptable due to the custom of the era and how the ladies need to be discreet and mainly dependent on man for a living. In conclusion, even though I like the actors and actresses a lot, I prefer to watch Pride and Prejudice than Sense and Sensibility because of the story and character. I didn’t say that Emma Thompson writes it poorly but, more about the real novel story that the movie based on.

I’m way more invested in this fictional divorce than I ever expected to be.
_____________
Ellie makes several calls and texts. A fellow parent, who agrees to look after Tom for a few days. Tom, to tell him not to go home. The school, to keep an eye out for a suspicious man. Beth, to keep Mark from the house for a few days. Jocelyn, on the off chance that now Joe is here, her advice would shift.
When she turns around, debating as to whether to ask SOCO if they could access the CCTV for the mobile homes, she's surprised to see Hardy come out onto the balcony. What's more, he's holding two mugs of tea.
Wordlessly, she takes it.
Hardy leans on the door jamb, blocking her way inside, and despite his demanding posture his face is full of nervousness. It reminds Ellie of the time he cornered her in a woman's bath, eager to help her feel better but not sure how. He's learned since then, though. Picked up on Ellie's own way of providing support and care.
The tea is infinity better than the fries he fed her a month ago.
He stared at her, and she sips her tea without looking at him. While this time feels more charged than previous times they've been in this situation, Hardy's gaze more attentive than ever, they're at the same stalemate. Ellie is in some desperate need of emotional comfort, but Hardy's rubbish at providing it. In the past, she also never really wanted it from him, from her boss. But as she sips her tea, made as she likes it, Ellie thinks she doesn't mind, just a little, that Hardy is offering support in his own way.
She won't ask for anything more though. She doesn't want Hardy to whisk her away from a troublesome husband, stashing her in an isolated cottage. Ellie wants things done and that means confrontation. She's not sure Hardy is the one to help her with that. Oh, he'd get in Joe's fact alright, she thinks, but Hardy's the type to crank up the aggressiveness and protectiveness when someone he's vowed to help is in a tough situation. She doesn't want Hardy in Joe's face, she wants herself in Joe's face, and Hardy might not let her.

Season 2 premiere blog!
I like Hardy’s little house. Also glad he’s getting the pacemaker.
Claire must be the ex wife.
The scenery in this show is something else.
Ellie looks cute in her terrible neon jacket, though.
It’s gonna be okay. Hardy’s been dragged through hell and almost back, he’ll show you the way out.
As a med student hearing “home birth” makes me cringe...there’s just so much that can go wrong during birth.
I still like my Hardy in a fugue state is the killer theory from back before my innocence was stolen.
Beth, fucking chill with your misplaced anger at Ellie.
Lol at the ridiculous wigs.
Mark has negative brain cells now.
“What is the point of you?” Is now my favorite way to insult someone.
Hardy’s cute little shack got broken into, how sad for it. Stealing mail is a crime, homie.
Ellie is like the only person in this town to deal with grief correctly, by like going to see a therapist. Take notes everyone else. Oh babe, it’s not your fault :(
Wait so Joe just wants to be an extra hoe and drag everyone’s shit into the open??
Hardy’s made some questionable decisions in his life and one of them is definitely hiding a woman and child in a cottage.
Everyone just needs to stop making promises on this show.
Using people as bait is generally a very bad idea, and I’m almost certain you will die on the spot if anything happens to Claire.... so you know, Bad Idea (TM)
How the fuck does Joe think he can get out of this??
I think Mark and Tom playing FIFA is nice?
I don’t care about the lawyer drama. I like Jocelyn though.
Having the body exhumed is so horrible. What the hell.
Jesus Beth.
Everyone on the show has clearly attending the Standing Ominously seminar hosted by Alec Hardy.

In 1987, Tom and Julie invested in 44 acres for trial grounds at London Springs, south of Cottage Grove Lake. Each year Territorial's research garden staff grows and evaluates thousands of varieties for best taste, Northwest hardiness, and good germination. More recently they began reclaiming older, favorite vegetable varieties sometimes shelved by their seed suppliers. Harvesting their very tiny product has been their biggest challenge. In Lorane, they dried the bean pods on ground tarps and winnowed the seed from the pods by hand. Then they tried grinding tomatoes in a garden variety chipper-shredder and fluming the seeds out, similar to panning for gold. But seeds still keep their age-old secrets of survival, and Territorial's seed saving techniques range from natural fermentation to the newest processors. Today they grow almost 20% of the seed they offer, especially lettuces, tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash.

“SENSE AND SENSIBILITY” (1995) Review
Tumblr media
"SENSE AND SENSIBILITY" (1995) Review The year 1995 saw the beginning of an onslaught of Britain and the United States’ love affair with British author, Jane Austen. A love affair that has not abated after twenty-three (23) years. In 1995, the BBC aired Andrew Davies’ miniseries adaptation of Austen’s most famous novel, ”Pride and Prejudice”. And later that year, Hollywood released its adaptation of another Austen, ”Sense and Sensibility” - which I had just recently watched.
Directed by Ang Lee, ”SENSE AND SENSIBILITY”, starred Emma Thompson (who also wrote the screenplay), Kate Winslet, Alan Rickman and Hugh Grant. The story centered around Elinor (Thompson) and Marianne (Winslet), two daughters of Mr. Dashwood (Tom Wilkinson) by his second wife (Gemma Jones). They have a younger sister, Margaret (Emilie François), and an older half-brother named John (James Fleet). When their father dies, the family estate passes to John, and the Dashwood women are left in reduced circumstances. The story follows the Dashwood sisters to their new home, a cottage on a distant relative's property (Robert Hardy), where they experience both romance and heartbreak. The contrast between the quiet and sensible Elinor and the extroverted and occasionally impetuous Marianne is eventually resolved as each sister finds love and lasting happiness. This leads some to believe that the story’s title described how Elinor and Marianne find a balance between sense and sensibility in life and love. Producer Lindsay Doran made an excellent choice in selecting Lee to direct the film. First of all, he drew some excellent performances from his cast - especially from Thompson, Winslet, and Rickman. Lee also effectively drew filmgoers back into Regency England without allowing the film to resemble some kind of stiff painting or a museum piece. Although he initially had trouble with dealing with Western-style of filmmaking – especially in dealing with British cast members who questioned his direction and made suggestions regarding shots. He could be rather authoritarian with the cast, especially with Hugh Grant. The actor ended up calling him ”the Brute” behind his back. But Lee and the cast eventually got used to each other. Lee was also responsible for insisting that Thompson play the oldest Dashwood sister. And he Lee ordered Winslet to read poetry and novels from the late 18th century and early 19th century in order to get her to connect to Marianne’s romantic nature. And to give the movie its emotional core, he asked both Thompson and Winslet to room together during production. The two actresses remain close friends to this day. Not only was Lee ably assisted by his superb cast, but also by crew members such as costume designers Jenny Beavan and John Bright, production designer Luciana Arrighi, set decorator Ian Whittaker, art directors Philip Elton and Andrew Sanders; and cinematographer Michael Coulter, whose photography beautifully captured the English countryside in all of its glory. I especially have to give kudos to Coulter’s photography and Arrighi’s production design for a beautiful re-creation of Regency London. I also enjoyed composer Patrick Doyle’s score for the film. His use of John Dowland’s song, "Weep You No More Sad Fountains" as Marianne’s own theme song struck me as very impressive. But I have to especially give kudos to Emma Thompson for her marvelous adaptation of Austen’s novel. It may not have adhered exactly to the novel, but I found it well written, lively and paced just right. With the exception of two performances, I felt more than impressed with the cast. When Ang Lee had signed on as the movie’s director, he immediately suggested that Emma Thompson portray the oldest Dashwood sister, Elinor. Thompson considered herself too old for the role, considering that Elinor was at least 19-20 years old in the novel. But Lee suggested that she increase Elinor’s age to 27 in the screenplay, which would also make her distress at being a spinster easier for contemporary audiences to understand. Frankly, I feel that Lee made a good choice. Emma Thompson gave a superb performance as Elinor Dashwood, whose practical mind led her to act as the family’s de facto leader, following her father’s death. She also brilliantly conveyed Elinor’s emotional nature behind a mask of reticence via her eyes and various expressions. Kate Winslet had no need to be subtle as the more openly emotional Marianne Dashwood. Winslet was at least 20 years old when she filmed ”SENSE AND SENSIBILITY’. Yet, even at that tender age, Winslet proved that she had the talent and acting chops to portray the very complex Marianne. And yet, she managed to convey all aspects of Marianne’s personality – romantic, willful, emotional and sometimes a bit self-involved - with surprising subtlety. I found Alan Rickman impressive as one of the Dashwoods’ new neighbors, the quiet and dependable Colonel Christopher Brandon. I enjoyed the subtle manner in which Rickman expressed Brandon’s reluctance in expressing his love for Marianne, due to her feelings for another man. That other man proved to Greg Wise, who gave a surprisingly effective performance as the dashing, yet rakish John Willoughby. Wise has always struck me as a solid, but not particularly an exceptional actor, but I must admit that I consider Willoughby to be among his best performances. The movie’s supporting cast also included Robert Hardy and the late Elizabeth Spriggs, who gave amusing performances as Sir John Middleton, the Dashwoods’ cousin and benefactor; and Mrs. Jennings, Sir John’s mother-in-law. Gemma Jones was excellent as the emotional and sometimes girlish mother of the Dashwood sisters. I was also impressed by Harriet Walter, who portrayed the sisters’ shrewish sister-in-law, Fanny Dashwood. And Hugh Laurie gave a hilarious performance as the sardonic and long-suffering Mr. Palmer, Mrs. Jennings’ other son-in-law. And I must say that Imogen Stubbs also impressed me by her subtle performance as the cunning and manipulative Lucy Steele, who seemed to have a claim for the same man that Elinor Dashwood longs for. Speaking of Elinor Dashwood’s love, I finally come to the two performances that had failed to impress me. One of them belonged to Hugh Grant. He portrayed Edward Ferrars, one of Fanny Dashwood’s brothers that happened to be in love with Elinor and is claimed by the manipulative Lucy Steele as her fiancé. Remember his charming, yet modest performance in the hit 1994 comedy, "FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL"? Well, his Edward Ferrars turned out to be an early 19th century version of that particular role. Grant simply gave the same performance, but with more stuttering and well . . . the same charm. What had been fresh and original in 1994, ended up as old news a year later in "SENSE AND SENSIBILITY". Fortunately, he managed to create strong chemistry with both Thompson and Emilie François, who portrayed the young Margaret Dashwood. And he managed to inject a good deal of subtle wit into his portrayal of the low-key Edward. But the one performance that really did nothing for me belonged to Imelda Staunton. She portrayed Charlotte Jennings Palmer, Mrs. Jennings’ daughter and Mr. Palmer’s wife. Now I am a fan of Stauton, but I cannot say the same about her portrayal of Charlotte Palmer. I realize that the character was supposed to be annoying, but one could say the same about Sir John and Mrs. Middleton. But whereas I found Robert Hardy and Elizabeth Spriggs’ performances amusing and rather funny at times, Staunton’s slightly over-the-top portrayal of Charlotte Palmer ended up irritating the hell out of me. I understand that Andrew Davies had produced his own version of the Austen novel back in 2008. I cannot deny that the three-part miniseries is first rate. There are two other adaptations of Austen's 1811 novel that I have enjoyed. However, I still believe that this particular version is superior. It came as no surprise to me that it earned seven (7) Academy Award nominations and won one (1) for Thompson’s Adapted Screenplay. ”SENSE AND SENSIBILITY” is one movie I could watch over again without ever getting tired of it.

Put your iTunes (or Spotify) on shuffle. What are the first four songs that popped up?
My computer is being weird and won’t open iTunes right now, I rarely use Spotify so this is gonna be from the Discover Weekly, and therefore not super reflective of what I listen to lol.
Of Mice & Men - If We Were Ghosts
Atlas (Fin) - Birthright
Eve to Adam - The Price
A Sense of Purpose - Numb
I don’t know any of these lmao.
Ever had a song or poem written about you?
Not as such but there was a time I was on the subway with a friend and some random guy started improvising a song about my freckles, which was weird but harmless until it then because about blowjobs. I was sixteen. Men are trash.
When was the last time you played guitar?
I don’t play guitar so I don’t really remember the last time I would’ve messed around with one but you know what I do remember? The Green Day Incident of 2004. That was... a time.
Who is your celebrity crush?
I may or may not have referred to Tom Hardy in conversations with my mother as “your future son in law” more than once.
What’s a sound you hate + a sound you love?
People chewing, but a really particular wet chewing.
As for a sound I love, everyone else hates it but there’s a certain cadence to the noise the ticket printers at work when you’re printing out large orders of tickets that is just so soothing.
Do you believe in ghosts?
Not particularly, but I love me a good ghost walk.
How about aliens?
I mean I feel like realistically it’s unreasonable to assume there’s no life anywhere else in the universe.
Do you drive?
Nope. My licence actually just lapsed last week. My G1, ie the learners’ permit you qualify for at 16. You have five years to test through the graduated licence system to your full G. I have never done this. My G1 has lapsed on two separate occasions. Driving is not for me.
What was the last book you read?
Tweak: Growing Up On Methamphetamines by Nic Sheff.
Do you like the smell of gasoline?
I do, and have very specific sense memories of it relating to the boat at my grandparents’ cottage as a kid. And the marina, which always smelled like that.
What’s the worst injury you’ve ever had?
Probably the skull fracture I sustained as a toddler, which I don’t remember at all, but like, that’s not good right? Also I have a crushed vertebrae which is always gonna be a lil bitch so there’s that too.
Do you have any obsessions right now?
I mean I guess I’ve been consistently on my AFI bullshit for the last year and a half. I wanna say I’m in full Toronto FC obsession too because I love my boys but they’re pissing me the fuck off right now because they suck.
Do you tend to hold grudges against people who have done you wrong?
Lmao DO I! And against people who haven’t but are just... the worst.
In a relationship?
Nah. Can’t be fucked.
I’m gonna tag @invincible-selfxmade-punk @viridiean @anchorarms @tumblepumpkins @ratcoven @dirt-goth and whoever else feels like doing this nonsense.

I can’t believe my eyes! I can’t believe my fracking eyes! Look at the colour! So vibrant after all those years!
(Yes, that’s a lock of Lawrence’s hair, which he gave to Florence Hardy)

The Beginning in the End
@timepetalscollective for Hardy adoption drive.  HardyxMiller
This was prompted by a Nonny, who requested #100 from this list -  “How did you know where to find me?”
Tom steps forward with an issue he’s having on Twitter, unintentionally acting as a catalyst for our favorite duo.
A knock on Hardy’s office door made them look up from their lunches.  Hardy was meticulously picking through a salad, while Ellie scarfed down fish and chips.
“Tom!  What’re you doing here, sweetheart?” she asked in surprise, as her partner waved him in.
“Have a seat,” Hardy invited when the boy lingered in the doorway, fidgeting with the sleeve of his jumper.
“I don’t want to interrupt…” Tom shuffled inside finally, easing the door shut behind him.  He was clearly anxious, and the detectives exchanged worried looks.
“You’re not,” Hardy reassured him, as Ellie scooted down the couch to make room for her son.
Salad abandoned, he leaned forward to give Tom his full attention, but he remained silent, looking anywhere but at the adults.
“You know you can tell us anything, don’t you?” Ellie prompted gently, after an interminable minute of him staring at his feet and the partners making faces and subtly gesturing to each other.
Tom glanced up at Hardy then, and the man nodded in a hopefully reassuring manner.  “Take your time, but don’t be afraid.”
They waited patiently, and eventually it paid off.  “You know I’m on Twitter?”  Tom started haltingly, and the adults nodded.  Hardy grimaced at the mention of the platform, but held his tongue. “Well, I’m not an idiot, I don’t share anything too personal…” he trailed off.
“Right…” Hardy encouraged, but Ellie interrupted, jumping to conclusions.
“Is someone threating you? Are you being bullied?”
“Not exactly,” Tom replied softly, glancing up then.  He caught Hardy’s eye, and a ball of dread settled in the man’s gut as he realized where this might be going.
The teenager’s pleading gaze confirmed his guess, and he asked the question gently to spare the boy the struggle of stuttering it out.
“Tom?  Did your father contact you?”
He nodded slowly, sagging in relief at not having to say the words out loud.  “Yeah.”
Ellie opened her mouth, a furious look on her face, but Hardy held up a hand to silence her. “When did he first make contact?”
“About a month ago,” Tom mumbled, gaze fixed on the wall behind Hardy.
“A month?!” His mother started, and this time Hardy shot her a glare.
“I didn’t know it was him til yesterday,” the boy protested sheepishly.  “I thought he was another kid.  We talked footie, the new Avengers movie.  I had no idea, honest.”
“I believe you,” Hardy said calmly, and though Ellie snorted the two ignored her.  “What did you do after you found out?”
His calm handling of the news made Tom eager to open up – as much as a teenager was capable.  “Ignored it, didn’t post anything else.  Thought about it.  I wasn’t sure I should say anything, but-” he stopped there, glancing at his mother guiltily, leaving the rest unsaid.
“What do you think should be done?  What do you want?”  Hardy worked to keep Tom’s attention on himself, and not the rage building in his mother’s expression.
“I don’t know,” he sighed. “I don’t want any contact with him though.”
“Fair enough,” Hardy nodded, just as Ellie abruptly stood.
“I need some air.” Dropping a kiss to Tom’s forehead on her way past, she swept out of the room in a blur, leaving Tom and Hardy to blink after her.
“She’s mad,” Tom sighed again, staring at the door she’d just disappeared through.
“I think she’s worried,” Hardy replied carefully.  “Tom? Look at me, please.”
The teenager slowly did as he was bid, meeting Hardy’s eye.
“You did the right thing, coming to us,” Hardy said firmly.  “I know it mustn’t of been easy, but you did.  Well done.”
Tom glanced back towards the door again.  “D’ya really think so?”
“Aye.”  He reached over his desk to grab a notepad and pen. “Now, start at the beginning.”
-
Leaving Tom in his office to devour the rest of Ellie’s lunch, Hardy headed for the parking lot. As he drove across town, he considered all that Tom had told him.  The boy’s quiet unhappiness at being tricked by his once-beloved father hurt Hardy’s heart, and he was determined to get the Millers through this.  Now that Tom had been temporarily settled, it was time to focus on the boy’s mother.
Pulling into the parking lot at his destination, Hardy sat for a moment staring up at the unassuming cottage upon the hill.  Climbing out, he trudged up to the porch, settling down to wait on the stoop.
Not ten minutes later Ellie appeared, hiking up the hill.  She stopped dead when she saw his car, shading her eyes as she turned to look up at the house.  Resuming her trek, she was soon in front of him with a bitter smile on her face.
“How did you know where to find me?”
Shrugging, Hardy patted the spot next to him.  “Have a seat, Miller.”
She did, settling beside him with a sigh as she stared out at the ocean.  “D’you think it’s weird, that I came here?”
“Knew you’d be here, didn’t I?”  He leaned back on his hands, staring up at the blue sky.
“But how, though?” She stayed mostly upright, though she planted her hands behind her as well.  Their forearms brushed, a modicum of comfort offered and accepted.
“Do you know where I went after Lee Ashworth was acquitted?”
“No.”  She had her suspicions, given the context of the conversation, but she let him talk.
“The river.  I spent, oh, must’ve been six hours sitting on the bank, staring at where I’d found her.  Grieving everything that had been lost.  Pippa.  Lisa. My wife, my daughter.  My health.  Wondering if some other poor family was going to lose their daughter one day because he’d gone free.”
“Did it help?”
“No.”
She glanced at him, only to find he was already watching her.
“My point, Miller, is that sometimes that’s what we need for closure.  I knew you’d be here because that’s what I would have done.”
“No offense, sir, but that doesn’t make me feel better.”
Hardy cracked a smile at that.  “Miller- Ellie, I know that we have different methods. But at the end of the day, cards on the table, we have the same goals, the same burning desire for truth, and justice, and what-have-you.”
“Our hearts are in the same place,” she nodded, though her brow furrowed when he looked away.
“Yeah.”  The forced casualness and the way he couldn’t look at her confirmed something she’d always known deep down – something Beth had been teasing her about lately.
“Hardy?”
“Yeah?”  He glared out at the ocean.
“I think… I think they are.”
“What are?  Are what?”
“In the same place.”
His head jerked around to face her, surprise and cautious hope shining through.  “Aye?”
Ellie glanced behind her at the small cottage that had destroyed her life so thorough, and thought about the bitter irony of this being the moment, this being where this moment happened.
She sent up a prayer that Danny was safe and happy somewhere before stepping forward to her future, shaking off the chains this place had put on her so many years before.
“Yes.”

Chapter 5: Walls made of love
The diaries started as a joke, and Alec Could see Y/N was not taking her assignment seriously, he could even imagine Dr. Florence exasperated expression reading them, as much as he remembered the way she looked at him when talked about his own dreams. But every now and then there was some real opinion about her life.

08:00 am. I get to school and I didn't take breakfast, I had a boring morning, as boring as this bloody activity. Sorry doc, but you clearly fail on this one.
10:00 am That was rude I know, but what else you want me to tell, I had a boring lunch and I have a call from Jonathan's mother, I get it the ring was important and I know how much she doesn't me to take away her son, she doesn't have to be that bitchy about it.
By the time he reach the last five days he listened to the tape as he was reading, there were just little more details about what she ate, barely anything, and the people she talk around the day. One detail call his attention, apparently Paul was indulgent enough to let her drive for brief moments in straight lines, and Hardy was not sure if it was relevant for the case or not.
Then he finally found the recollection of the night she went out drinking with Ashley, she usually put on hours before writing so the doctor would follow better her descriptions.
2:30 - I just came home and took a shower, I'm sorry Doc, you will be receiving this one way late than usual, and please don't worry, I went for drinks with Ash as I told you yesterday I would, do you actually read this? I would hate to imagine a woman like you sitting at home alone waiting for my poor written crap. Anyway, I'll tell you a secret I didn't drink today, we were at the club at 10 but stupid Jonathan called me to tell me that I shouldn't be going out with, I told him where he could put his opinion, but I listen and took only mocktails, Ash didn't notice I think, she was so funk I even drove back, thankfully the streets were empty, I hope she didn't eat me out with Jonathan, and I will apologize to him lateer in the morning, I will tell him: I can't wait to be doing this for the rest of our lives.
I haven't told hin about your plann of putting me on medication, I will surprise him with it when he gets back, that would definitely make him happy.
"Hardy, Paul Coates is here, he wants to talk to you" One of the agents said and he immediately pull the papers behind some other files, they felt like something private not sure why.
"Sure, tell him I'll be out in a minute" He said and once he was away he move to close the blinds and the door of his office.
But if I'm completely honest I'm not sure if he actually wants me to get bettr or just wants me to be what he wants, as you said we all put on walls, and as I tried to move on from mine and from the memory of parents stopping me from getting out of Broadchurch I let Jonathan trapped me in litral walls in our huse, and the walls made of love that I built to keep me from telling him that I want to drive, that I need to work, that I'm capable, anyway have a nice night or morning or whatever time is you are reading this, I'll send you the next entry tomorrow.
Alec checked the time when Dr Florence received the document 2:53 am, so a few minutes after she wrote it, wich was obvious since it had several misspellings and missing letters.
He had already checked the traffic cameras around her home and all her movements checked out, there at 1:52 am just a few miles before the dirty road to her cottage he identified the car that should belong to Langford, and then the same car leaving at 2:05 however the first time he didn't notice that she was the one driving, and then Ashley driving back, apart from that her story checked out.
He stood up and walk to a waiting room where Paul was sitted , he respected the reverend but sometimes his good intentions could be too much.
"DI Hardy" He said always polite standing up to shake his hand "I'm sorry to bother you but is about Y/N"
"Do you have new information about the case?" Hardy said dryly, and sitedin front of him "I believe Miller already talked to you this morning, and I don't have more to say apart from that"
"No, I already say everything I know, is just I figured since Y/N is not going to be able to go back to his place because of ... the investigation and that" he frowned thinking about Jonathan's body "I thought maybe she could stay at the church, we always have a spare room and well since her family is not around I figured ..."
"How did you know she is getting free?" Alec interrupted him.
"Well I don't think she is responsible for anything" He started clearly surprised that he questioned that.
"Ah, you think you can do my job better than me?" Hardy said, clearly about to loose his temper.
"I just think, or at least I like to think I'm better at knowing people" Paul was more serious, and Hardy was shock by that, maybe it was the years of tragedy he had face with the town, or maybe it was something more personal.
"Oddly how things turn out isn't it? The fiance is gone, and now she goes back to you, and you even want her to live with you. And you are no longer with Becca do you? All seems way too convenient don't you think?" He said looking for something in the priest face, but there was only indignation.
"What are you suggesting? Really? You are going to questioning me?" He said and Hardy just remained silent with her arms crossed "Fine if I you need to know, and I'm surprised Ellie hasn't told you yet, I know her ages ago, her, Ashley we went to school together, and we were together for about one year, I don't know she was 26 at the time. And we broke up because I was busy with the church and we have been friends since then." He said quickly and Alec nodded.
"And you were friends with Norbury?" Alec asked not sure on why he wanted to know.
"I introduced them, a few weeks after he move here he began helping me at the church, and she often volunteers to watch the trouble makers, she must have watch Tom and Danny a couple times back in those days" a shadow of sorrow crossed his face remembering the young kid, something that happened often in broadchurch "I actually forgot to tell something to Ellie" He said remembering suddenly "I don't think is relevant but anyway, I am I meet Jonathan at a AA meeting, and that's why he started helping at the church. He had troubles with drinking at London that's why he came here."
"Did he ever relapse?" Alec ask suddenly with all his alarms on "Like recently?"
"Not that I know, he didn't want Y/N to know about it, and I ask him to talk to her before the wedding, I'm not sure if he did" The sad look was back now for his lost friend.
"She'll be out in fifty" Alec said standing up, and walking towards the door "You can wait for her here"
"What? Oh thanks, she has been trough a lot already, I hope I can help her out on this at least."
"You said her family is not around, what ever happened to them?" He said suddenly stopping at the door.
"They died, in a car accident ten years ago, she was about to leave town, she was not living with them anymore, she was the youngest and they care for her a lot, but after that she felt guilty I guess, she started coming more to church and her problem got worse for a few weeks, I hope that doesn't happen again".
"Sure" Hardy said and walked fast to the interrogation room where Y/N have spent the night. He found her sitted in the same place, and she had clearly been crying, he felt sorry for her, but he had to get things clear first.
"You lied to us" He started siting in front of her. "You drove home on Friday morning out of the bar" She only nodded and took a sip of the water bottle she hasn't touched yet.
"I'm sorry" Y/N said with a throaty voice "I did, I know I'm not supposed to but I actually can drive very well, and I haven't drink that night it, I thought it was safer if I take the wheel than Ash, but she was stubborn enough to drive back herself"
"Any particular reason on why you don't drink?" He asked not giving it much importance.
"I really don't like it that much, and it worsens my anxiety, so I may take a glass of wine here and there, I think that's why I blacked out so long two weeks ago I did drink a few more shots than my usual three" she said putting her hair behind her ear "He was in AA" She said biting her nails "Or at least I think he was, someone left a voice message about changing the hour for the meeting" She face Hardy with red eyes but she didn't cried, not anymore.
"Do you ever saw him drinking?" He asked and his mind was still in the coroner report trying to remember what he said about the content of the stomach.
"No, also he always had "Boy's night" with Paul on the day I knew he had his AA meetings, is weird how any of them thought I will figure it out" She had a sad smile on her face "I always thought he was a terrible liar because of it"
"You can leave, reverend Coats, amm Paul is waiting for you" She gave him a surprise look.
"Why is Paul here?" She asked then putting up her hands so he could uncuffed her.
"You can't go to your own place, we are still looking for evidence there" Alec said avoiding her gaze.
"Detective Hardy, do you believe me?" She asked caressing her wrist, they felt numb after all that time.
"Is there a reason I shouldn't?" He asked looking at her straight in the eyes.
"No, but earlier it felt like you thought it was me" She said.
"I don't have to believe you or not, I make questions and I follow evidence, and evidence doesn't suggest you did it" He avoided answer her directly.
"Then can I ask you a favor?" She said standing up. "When you find who did this to us, and I have faith in you to do it, if is someone I know, please don't tell me" Her voice was low and almost imperceptible and he had to bend over the table to listen better.
"Why?" He asked in a whisper almost as quiet as hers.
"Because I would hate them, and I would want to kill them, and I don't want to be that kind of person" She said and he could see the fear and sorrow in her eyes, and felt grateful that another officer entered to take her way from him. He went back to his office trying to forget that look when Miller walked in.
"Did you let her go? Paul told me on the way out she would stay at the church, that seems fine for now" She said looking at him but he was apparently not listening. "Ready to go see his apartment?"
"What does the coroner said about his stomach?" He asked suddenly leaning back on his chair.
"Vodka? Whiskey? Some sort of alcohol, why?" She asked curious.
"Yeah, something like that, come on Miller we can't lost more time" There he is, Miller smile when he put on his coat again and start walking outside. "By the way, I haven't told you this" He turned at her with a odd expression in his face "I am in therapy with Dr. Florence, I have been there for a few months now, is not important, I just thought you should know" He nodded and kept walking.
"Ok, sure, fine. That's great" Miller said against her impulse of asking more, she was glad he shared that of course, but she knew how hard must have been for him to admit it. "Anyway Becca Fisher owns the apartment where Norbury lived, she gave me the key"
They walked out and Alec started telling her about Jonathan's problem with alcohol, and a few other details he learned that morning but leaving out all about the diaries. He was sure as much as Ellie that Y/N was innocent but that only made things more complicated and he was hoping for a new lead to appear at the apartment, Please don't tell me her voice resonated in his mind and when he closed his eyes he could see her face. This was getting more and more difficult every minute.
I wasn't sure if people was actually reading this, but I'm glad they are, so if you want to be in the tag list just say so and I would gladly add you.
