Pakistani women have made the move towards sustainable reusable sanitary products after suffering years of health issues related to single use sanitary pads. UNESCO projects such as ‘The Red Code’ started by three young Pakistani women in April of 2019; provides good quality menstrual hygiene products that benefit the women of Pakistan in more than one way. In 2019, Kenyan women started a campaign expressing their anger over always pads which they claimed caused rashes and burning sensations. The campaign was soon joined by Pakistani women who expressed similar sentiments regarding the product. Since then, many women across the country have switched brands while others have made the change towards reusable pads. Single use sanitary pads have been known to cause many health complications due to the chemicals found in pads for extra absorbency and bleaching which may cause defects such as rashes, irritation, infections, infertility and even cancer. Dr. Junaina Nadeem, a gynecologist in Islamabad explained that she frequently receives patients suffering from rashes caused by pads; “We frequently do. Rashes are mostly due to mesh tops of the pads. It’s also in those patients who use panties on a regular basis”. She also recommended that women suffering from burning and itching sensations should make a change towards cotton top pads. She also went on to elaborate other complications women face due to single use pads, such as; “Lacerations on perineal areas and they [women] frequently present complains about discharge and itching in the perineal area”. Health issues aside, pads are also known to be extremely harmful to the environment. An average pads takes up to a minimum of 500 years before it begins to disintegrate. Improper disposal of these pads leads to blockage of sewage systems and pads eventually end up in the sea releasing harmful toxins into the waters. An average woman will use between 5000-8000 pads in her lifetime, so the number of pads really adds up. The Red Code is a project funded by UNESCO and run by local Pakistani women. The project provides jobs to women living in rural areas allowing them some independence by earning extra money, while also making cloth pads accessible to people in remote areas. Cloth pads also have a cultural aspects. Especially for women living in rural areas, traditional forms of menstrual hygiene such as cloth are more acceptable and familiar. Cloth pads are also cheaper making it accessible to people of all backgrounds and much better for the environment since they are made with biodegradable materials. The Red Code also has a program which enables buyers to sponsor pads which are then donated to women and girls who cannot afford or access them. Pakistan has a long way to go in regards to the conversation surrounding women’s menstrual hygiene and women’s reproductive health in general. However, the problem isn’t just on a national scale but a global one. Pads are risking the health of women while also taking a toll on the environment. Women in the western world are currently protesting against period or tampon tax and demanding their governments remove the tax, arguing that periods are not a choice and should be exempt of taxes along with other necessities. The upside is that the conversation is being instigated in Pakistan even if it’s on a small scale. It can be hoped that women’s wellbeing will receive more attention in the future and that more initiatives and programs will be started where women are educated in regards to their bodies and what’s right and healthy for their reproductive health.

In the midst of the California gold rush Levi Strauss had the idea that the sure money was not in panning for gold but in selling stuff to the men combing the hills and rivers in search of fortune and fame, specifically with well-made trousers in heavy canvas. One thing about those gold seekers, they didn’t have time for anything that wasn’t hunting for gold. They slept just long enough to stay alert, ate hurriedly and sorely resented any interruption to their work schedule - including having to repair a rip in their trousers. So Strauss had a simple idea: put copper rivets in the corners of the pockets, making them virtually indestructible. Miners paid top dollar for these sturdy, riveted denim trousers and the Levi Strauss brand of blue jeans was born. They didn’t just corner the market. They created it - out of whole cloth. Their trousers, overalls and lined coats became a staple of outdoor and frontier life.

More than 150 years later, denim now accounted for about 7% of all apparel sales and Levi-Strauss was no longer the only brand on the market but had done well to evolve with times and was a $4 billion global business, headquartered still in San Francisco, where it had all started. Typically the company had been run by lifers, but sometimes the leadership slots would be given over to outside “garmentos,” people who specialized in fashion, mass apparel and retail. So they tapped into the talent pool of the world’s historically greatest consumer brand builder and hired P&G veteran Chip Bergh to run the company. Chip insisted that the company have a clear brand strategy and a sound business plan. With his new head of brands, Jean Sey, they hired hot agency Wieden+Kennedy (who had birthed Nike) and when the crash of 2008 hit, W+K gave them “Go Forth,” a campaign that seemed more like “Occupy Wall Street” than true Levi’s. Similarly, Levi’s would start thinking not share of jeans, but share of closet, which is why today, Levis Strauss & Co includes the Dockers and Denizen brands. But what were the jeans about? For they were the icon, the glue that holds the company together. Jim persuaded Chip that it was all about stories…
The story of people finding their true selves

Chip created a job for Jim, Brand President. Jim had the company look at the social and cultural history that surrounded jeans. After the miners, blue jeans were adopted by cowboys, who, as Marlboro would celebrate 75 years later, were living symbols of rugged independence. Then the bikers. Then the “rebels without a cause.” Then hippies. Then hipsters. Then start-ups. What did all of these cultural iconic lifestyles have in common? A desire to be true to themselves and a readiness to seize the day, trust their instincts, take action…to really be alive. They were all people who wanted their life to be a story, not a routine, not a calculation. In order for the brand to be ready for the next great generation of story seekers, it would have to think of itself as 150-year-old start up. It would have to live its own brand. And, slowly but surely, they began to realize that their new global brand idea would be: Live In Levi’s. Arçelik A. recently filed a lawsuit against LG Electronics and its subsidiaries in Germany and France over patent infringement in regard to the unlicensed implementation of the company’s direct-drive technology in“6 Motion” washing machines which are launched by LG Electronics. Arçelik is the owner of brands like Beko and Grundig.
Arçelik is amongst the top 100 global patent applicants of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). So, the company was granted a patent relating to its ‘direct drive’ washing machine technology and was originally developed by Arçelik only. The application for a patent was filed in 1997.
You must be curious to know how this technology works. So the answer to your question is here, this technology crucially prevents damage to clothes by enabling the drum to perform a half-turn cradle movement. Therefore this technology actually attracted the attention of many customers as well as manufacturers.
Series of events which lead to a lawsuit:
Patent granted to Arçelik in 1997relating to its ‘direct drive’ washing machine technology.
LG Electronics started the unlicensed implementation of the company’s direct-drive technology in its “6 Motion” washing machines.
After becoming aware of this infringement, Arçelik warned LG Electronics regarding the case and since then Arçelik has made every effort to resolve the dispute amicably with LG Electronics.
But, LG Electronics was determined to reject all of these efforts.
As a result, Arçelik filed a lawsuit against LG Electronics.
Arçelik, being a listed company, has a responsibility on its shoulders to ensure the protection of the hard work of its R&D team, its significant investment in innovation and intellectual property rights globally. Both the companies remained in talks for their ongoing collaborations in other fields also. Now it would be interesting to observe the impact of their legal battle on their collaborations.
Arçelik is having a vast expansion globally. We made a plan to check out the beauty of Northern Pakistan. Please note that flight PK-202 is about to leave for Lahore. Please be seated on it quickly before you get a beating for it. Firstly we will travel from Karachi to Lahore by air. There was a whole lot of foul smell in the aeroplane. I wonder if the boss has farted. Ahsan has got my stuff, and Junejo has got his own bag as well. Now we have to take a car from Lahore. It's so damn hot dude. It's much more than Karachi. Ahsan always forgets something or the other. What have you forgotten? I don't know let me see. Brother Ahsan has forgotten something, for sure. -Forgot my warm clothes at home, dude. -Okay nevermind. Luckily this video Ahsan has been sponsored by a clothing brand. -And they have a store in Lahore so-- -From FUROR store we picked up clothes. Friends did you meet my best friend. Amjad. Are Amjad's glasses better or mine? Every day now, "open sesame." I was feeling crazy hunger, so Moore and Ahsan told me they would take me for Lahore's traditional breakfast. I knew that when we would reach Lahore, I would get to eat something special for breakfast. So, I didn't tell them, but I don't eat "Paye" brother Ahsan. -No Phajja's "Paye", it's delicious. -It's too sticky. And we had decided this. You didn't know, but brother Moore and I had decided that we will definitely take you to eat Phajja's Paye. We were going towards a secret lake. Whose location pin was only on my phone. From Thokar we came onto the motorway and moved towards Kallar Kahar. They made a whole lot of fun of me because of Paye but now, how do I tell them that I don't even know how to swim.

There it's come, there it's come. This thing. After we reached we came to know that the location of the lake wasn't as secret as we expected it to be. The water was very cold dude. Oh! Cold system. The second one will also dive. Over here out of us three who knew to swim, were swimming that was only brother Mooroo whereas me and Ahsan both of us just dived. Still not a tourist spot. Still slightly secret. And I'm not going to tell you where it is. It's really about the small things in life. Assalam-alaikum viewers. We are at a lake in Kallar Kahar, water pool. Water pool. -We went there. -Water fall. Water fall. Water fool... ...is a lake. It's water fall. Assalam-alaikum viewers, we went to Kallar Kahar, it's a lake. We came to take a bath. we enjoyed, dived a little too but... ...got screwed. I'm wearing this seven kilo bag. It contains a laptop, camera, lenses. I'm feeling as if I'm picking up myself and walking. Caught the road and started heading towards Islamabad. Paid at toll plaza. Since we were going by Islamabad, so thought why not keep a fan meet up here. At FUROR's store... ...at Giga Mall. (indistinct dialogue) Common brother, viewers it's the second day of our travelogue.
Me, Junejo and Ahsan. You can see that Junejo has been woken up early and he isn't happy. Taking pleasure of Islamabad's beautiful views, we started heading for Naran. We thought at Savour Foods we would eat, what do we eat here? We would eat Pulao. Check out the people. Pulao must be good. Had one road rage experience. Uncle got saved, he was saying something wrong and I was getting angry. Well nevermind. Hey you! What are you doing? Where are you coming? Can't you see? We have kept all our bags in the open in the back of our pick up truck. And, if it rains then all of them will get wet. We didn't estimate this so now we are thinking if it does rain what will we do? As we thought, it turned out the same way. Oh dude! What will we do now Ahsan? I have a lot of expensive stuff in the bag. No problem boss, I will do something about it. This is called brother Ahsan's program. Keep all the stuff inside. This is the first time I'm going to the Northern Areas so I'm feeling a little road sick. The window is open so that if I vomit, it goes outside. And alongwith me brother Ahsan is also in the same state. He has made some system and is sitting. Mansehra. Near Muzaffarabad Ahsan saw two rivers of different colours meeting. A drone shot of this is a must.
While Mooroo and Ahsan were taking drone shots, I was promoting myself, again. The scene is something like this. Scenes are something like this. The journey became too long so thought we should stop at Balakot. We intended to reach Naran today. But here in Balakot there is a PTDC where for 5000 rupees per day we can keep three people in a double bedroom. Uncle said that the purest Chapli Kabab is over there. If we don't take risks with our stomach then what will we eat with. No no, what risk will we take? Stomach doesn't get spoilt with Chapli Kabab. I will talk to you in the bathroom tomorrow. By the look of it the restaurant seemed to be a torture chamber. Like they take out new ways of food poisoning secretively. See the state of the oil. But we were so hungry that we still too ate. Today we have a very long drive, Naran, Kaghan till wherever we can reach we will go. (indistinct dialogue) We have to go to Saiful Muluk so brother Ahsan is packing so that we may leave. Are you ready brother Junejo? -I'm ready I just haven't slept properly. -Why you didn't sleep? The message didn't come. Message didn't come, you copied my dialogue. (indistinct dialogue) It seems like everyone whose in Balakot is on their to some other place.
Their either on their way to Naran or Gilgit. It's a transitory place, limbo. The remaining travelling was done by us along side Kunhar river that is 166km long. Slowly and gradually we could figure out that we were going to a very beautiful place. And also a sign that the journey ahead would be risky and dangerous. Boss keep the car towards your side, if we fall we won't get up. Keep quiet keep quiet, my legs are already trembling. If reaching there would be easy then the place wouldn't be that enjoyable. This is Naran. Naran, Saiful Muluk, Lalazar, Babusar are considered to be bay stations for Noori valley and Poorvi valley. This is the main bazaar of Naran. We have come from Balakot to Naran haven't eaten anything since morning we will eat something now, brother Ahsan is falling here and there, we will eat something after that we have to go to Saiful Muluk. I'm seeing so many beautiful things so quickly. At this time they're only serving breakfast so we have ordered Nihari with sweet Lassi on the request of Ahsan. This is Babusar top, I'm feeling cold, can't feel anything, my hands are frozen. As far as our experience the information given to us by older men was incorrect. One old man said that, when a young guy told us that it's a four hour walk ahead the old man sreamt saying "No it's a six hour walk". When we were heading towards Saiful Muluk, an old man was returning in the same car Vigo. We asked him if Vigo would reach there and he replied it's very difficult, it's very difficult. So, but we reached in the same car ultimately. So word being that the information given by older men is usually discouraging and incorrect.
Ahead we met a young lad we asked him if this car would go and he replied try, it will go. -Very good. -Very good. Assalam-alaikum viewers, me and sir have come here for... ...rafting so see they have even given us a roller. This is a roller. While we were rafting I had recited the Ayatul-Kursi but while returning the Pathan driver made me recite all the Kalma's as well. It's important. We have filled diesel in our car, in the morning we-- Will go in this car to the top of Saiful Muluk. After that from there we would track it to Aansoo lake. The horses don't go till Aansoo lake. But they go till the base camp and after that we would have to walk it, hike-- 127 hours doesn't happen with us, that's all.

The spice is grown in some regions of Kashmir, including Pulwama, Budgam, Kishtwar and Srinagar. Kashmir saffron is a very precious and costly product. Kashmir saffron is renowned globally as a spice. It rejuvenates health and is used in cosmetics and for medicinal purposes. It has been associated with traditional Kashmiri cuisine.
