Pairing: Bradley 'Rooster' Bradshaw
Summary: You're at dinner with your boyfriend and some of his colleagues at a restaurant he chose when you look over the menu and realize there's no vegetarian option, but he's too busy with his friends to realize that. Bradley isn't.

"Babe, did you say this was formal or more casual?" you yell from the bedroom. Clothes are currently covering the bed as you attempt to find the perfect outfit for tonight. It's the first time he's ever brought you to an event with his colleagues from the Navy, and you want to make sure you look like someone who belongs next to him.
"I sort of like you like this," he murmurs, wrapping his arms around you from behind. You chuckle as you peel off his hands from your exposed stomach.
"You're saying I can go in my underwear?" He seems to consider it for just a moment before he picks up a black turtleneck.
"It's more casual than formal. Wear this. You always look amazing in it." He places a kiss on your cheek before leaving you to get ready. Carefully, you paint your lips red as the final touch before grabbing your bag.
"So, who exactly are we meeting?" You gently scratch his neck with your nails as he drives.
"Just a few of my colleagues from Top Gun. For the first time in a few years, we're all stationed in the same area. I'll introduce you when we get there," he says, keeping his eyes on the road. The rain is pouring down heavy outside, and you find yourself thanking the universe for the inkling you'd had when you left home to bring an umbrella.
"Damn, looks like we're the last to arrive," he mumbles, parking as close to the restaurant as possible. He grabs the umbrella and gets out. You wait for exactly thirty seconds before you realize that he's not coming to open your door. He actually just left you without an umbrella in the pouring rain. You roll down the window slightly to yell after him at the same time as he turns around.
"Could you grab the keys? I think I dropped them on the floor." Rightly so, the keys are on the floor of the car. But you're still without an umbrella, and he hasn't even noticed that you haven't gotten out of the car yet. As they start moving inside, one of them breaks apart from the group and rushes over to the car. Even though you're pissed, you put on a smile as he opens the door.
"Figured you might prefer to stay dry," the stranger laughs except he's not a stranger at all. No, you know that voice very well. Your smile tightens when you look into Bradley Bradshaw's taupe eyes. His jaw drops when he notices who you are.
"Shit," he breathes, but you're not about to let this ruin the night.
"Tonight is a big night for him." He nods - just once. And then he walks you to the door, making sure to cover you with his umbrella. Thankfully, there's an empty seat right next to him, and you hurry over to occupy it. Introductions are made, and you should get an Oscar for how well you pretend to have never ever heard the name Bradley Bradshaw before.
"So, Y/N, what do you pass the time with while this knucklehead is away?" the girl, Phoenix, asks with a kind smile. You're about to answer when he cuts in.
"Knucklehead? Who are you calling a knucklehead, Slippery Joe?" Then he embarks on the story of how Phoenix came to be known as Slippery Joe for dropping several valuable engine pieces and breaking every single one of them. You try to smile as they all joke around because you know how happy he is about tonight. So, you look over the menu and to your horror, you notice there's not a single vegetarian meal on this.
"Babe," you say quietly to get his attention, but he's too busy talking to one of the guys you can't remember the name of. That's when you notice Bradley staring directly at you with a menu in hand. You give him a pointed look.
Keep your mouth shut.
Only if you say something yourself.
Once again, you attempt to discretely get the attention of your boyfriend. You try to intertwine your fingers with his, but he moves his hand and inadvertently claps your hand before dropping it. With burning cheeks, you excuse yourself and head up to the bar.
"Is there any chance you can prepare a vegetarian dish?" you ask one of the waiters who passes by. She gives you a funny look, and you're well aware of the irony of asking that question at a steak house.
"The best we can offer is the salad bar," she apologizes before rushing off to another table. When you turn around, Bradley is standing right there.
"He picked the restaurant, you know." Clenching your jaw to keep from outright crying, you walk past him without even acknowledging him.
"He dropped your hand. What sort of dick does that?" Of course he noticed. Spinning around, you point to his chest.
"Not another word, okay? We happened years ago. You don't get to pretend like you know me or my relationship now," you say in a hushed voice to keep the rest of the table from hearing it. With a heavy heart, you return to your seat where your boyfriend continues to completely ignore your existence.
When the waiter comes over, you keep quiet while everyone else orders. When it finally becomes your turn, you smile and say: "I'm not that hungry, so can I just have the salad bar as my meal?" All the guys start howling and crying about how you can't turn down the meat in this place. You insist that you're not really that hungry even as Bradley looks like he's about to explode.
"If you're worried about the bill, I can cover it," your boyfriend whispers, and you can't believe that he thinks this is about money.
"I can't eat a single thing here. I don't eat meat." You try to keep your tone neutral, but you can't help sounding a little disappointed in him.
"Really, you want to pick a fight right now?" Before you even have a chance to respond, he turns back to his friends and throws himself into the conversation. Dumbstruck by his audacity, you keep quiet as the night goes on. Every time someone tries to bring you in to the conversation, he finds a way to make it all about him. And you really try to tell yourself that these people are his friends and he hasn't seen them in forever, but you can't help the nagging feeling that he'd prefer it if you weren't here. Too engrossed in the role of entertainer, he doesn't even notice when Bradley slides a plate of fries across the table to you.
'Clean' he mouths and then rejoins the conversation. With a grumbling stomach, you pull the fries over and notices that he's used his bread plate to make sure they haven't been touched by the meat juice. Despite your best intentions, you can't help but smile as you dig in. But the joy is short-lasting when your boyfriend finally notices.
"You could've just told me if you wanted fries," he says, giving Bradley a side eye that he politely ignores. But you see the smirk he's trying to hide.
"I think I need some air before dessert," you excuse yourself and walk outside. The rain has finally stopped so you take a deep breath and revel in the smell of wet earth.
"Petrichor."
"What?"
"Petrichor. It's what the smell after rain is called." You don't have to be a mind reader to know he too is remembering mornings spent on the balcony right after heavy rain.
"Right." Wrapping your arms around yourself, you take several deep breaths. Suddenly, a coat is draped across your shoulders.
"I know you get cold," he mumbles looking just about every direction except for yours. For once, you accept his kindness. Together, you enjoy the quietness of the evening as the party continues on inside.
"I know this isn't my place to ask but what the hell are you doing with that guy?" You don't immediately shut him down even though you should. This is dangerous territory.
"He's not normally like this," is your only response. And it's true. He's not normally this bad, but he doesn't always treat you like you deserve. You know. You've had many conversations with him about it.
"So, the Navy, huh? I didn't think you wanted that." You'd known Bradley when you were both young, and he'd sworn he wouldn't follow in his dad's footsteps if only to keep his mother from worrying.
"I didn't know what else to do when you left for college. I needed some sort of structure. The Navy offered me that and then I realized just how badly I wanted to be there." He takes a step towards you, and you're stupid enough to stay put. You and Bradley didn't break up because you stopped loving each other.
"What are you doing with him?" he asks again. This time quietly and... hurt? And you truly don't have an answer for Bradley because in this moment in time, you have no idea.
"Why do you care?" you counter.
"Because I love you. Always have, always will," he says as if it's the most obvious thing in the world. You take several steps back to create some space between you.
"You can't just say stuff like that!" you exclaim.
"Why not? I've flown with him, I've seen him with other women. He is a prick and one of the worst ones." You push past him and lets his coat drop to the floor before entering the restaurant again.
"Hey, I'm not feeling too good. I'll grab a cab home," you whisper and he doesn't even bother to offer to drive you home. He just smiles at you briefly before returning to the conversation. Making a beeline for the parking lot, you try to ignore Bradley. Even as he comes over to stand next to you. And especially as you start shivering from the cold. He doesn't dare offer you his coat this time.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have sprung that on you."
"No, you shouldn't have." A silence much different from before settles on you as you wait for the cab. You rub your arms to try to stay warm but it's impossible. God, why didn't you just bring a coat?
"I can drive you home. It's no problem." You wait at least five more minutes before you begrudgingly walk over to his car. He tries and fails to hide the smirk on his face when he doesn't even have to point it out to you.
"I remember stuff too," you say under your breath as you get in. This has always been his dream car. Even at the age of 16 with absolutely no money or prospects to ever earn enough money to pay for this. The drive back is quiet but you're so acutely aware of how close he is to you, you feel like you're going insane. He looks good. Even you can't deny that. And his cologne... God, his cologne is going to be the reason you lose your last shred of dignity.
"Thanks for the ride," you say once he pulls over outside your apartment.
"No problem." Get out of the car. You tell yourself over and over to get out of the car, but your body seems to have grown roots. Finally, you look over at Bradley only to find that he's already watching you.
"I won't invite you in." Because I might do something I'll regret.
"Okay." Just get out of the damn car... He's too close, and you can't think straight.
"For what it's worth I'd never treat you like that." For just a brief second, you try to convince yourself that you heard wrong, but you know he really just said that.
"I know." He inhales sharply but keeps quiet otherwise - letting you decide how to end the night. Seeing him, hearing his voice, it's all bringing back feelings you've kept buried for so long. You never imagined that you'd see him again but now he's sitting right next to you, and you can't ignore that feeling in your chest. Your heart used to beat for Bradley Bradshaw... it still does. Painfully slow, you reach out to grab his hand. He clutches it tightly in his.
"I've missed you," he whispers, baring his heart to you. Nothing happens that night. You need to end things with your boyfriend, be a decent person. But a week later, Bradley knocks on your door and when you open it, he kisses you instantly. Your hands are in his hair and his... they roam every curve of your body. He groans as you kiss his neck and let your tongue lick that sensitive spot right below his ear.
"You're so beautiful," he murmurs.
"Take me to the bedroom, Lieutenant."

When Ice said he was sorry, Mav didn't make a sound, and Ice feared he wouldn't talk still on the graduation day. But he did. He said, "Congratulations..." and Ice's heart skipped a beat.🥺🥺 And this was the happiest moment that day... Even happier than graduating itself.
But even after that, Ice couldn't find the opportunities to talk with Mav. He was silent most of the time. Because Carole had died shortly after Goose. And Ice could find Mav. Before he said, "My condolences," he was able to utter these words:
"Now the baby boy needs a parent to look after him."🥺
Mav answered in a breath: "I'll be his parent."
Ice: "But two makes it better."
Ice couldn't believe what he said instantly, but it was already too late... Mav's head slowly turned, causing an increase in Ice's heartbeats, Mav said nothing just like he hadn't spoken for a long while .....
But there were tears in his eyes and his lips were smiling.

Also, slight spoilers for Top Gun: Maverick if you haven't seen it

y/n sat back in her chair, listening mindlessly to the radio as she stared outside. Maverick had been shooting the team of aviators down pretty much all day, despite all of them being the best of the best. It was getting tiring. However, to an extent, it was entertaining. But only to an extent. Those two hundred pushups were killer. y/n had already done hers; she had been one of the first groups to go. And while she and Coyote had put up a good fight, Maverick still got them.
Now, Hangman and Phoenix and Bob were taking their turn.
“Say, Phoenix,” Hangman called. “How’s about we tell everybody Bob stands for something? Other than Robert, I meant.”
“Don’t take the bait, Bob,” Phoenix said. “Want to know why we call him Hangman?”
“Oh wait wait. I got it. Baby On Board.” Hangman’s laugh echoed through the radio’s speaker.
y/n shook her head.
Ever since they had been assigned this mission, Hangman had been picking on Bob. Hangman had been at Top Gun a year or so before Bob, and had been there with Coyote and Phoenix. Bob was also a few years younger than Hangman, which Hangman obviously saw as an opportunity to pick on the younger WSO.
“Shit!” Hangman suddenly said.
“Greetings, aviators,” Maverick said. “Fight’s on.”
“All right, Phoenix, let’s take this guy out. Break right!”
“Breaking right.”
“Where’s he going?” Bob asked.
y/n glanced at the radio.
“That’s why we call him Hangman,” Phoenix said. “He’ll always hang you out to dry.”
Not long after that, Maverick targeted Phoenix and Bob. Hangman tried going after Maverick by himself, only to get targeted himself. y/n couldn’t help but smile when she heard Hangman calling for assistance from his wingman.
“Phoenix, I can’t see him. How close am I? Phoenix?”
“I’m dead, dickhead,” Phoenix replied. Her smirk could be heard through the radio.
“See you in the afterlife, Bagman,” Bob said.
y/n laughed under her breath. She watched the next group get up to get ready for their run with Maverick. y/n looked back outside. Phoenix and Hangman were landing their planes. She watched as they got out of their flight gear and started doing their pushups with Hondo.
Eventually, they finished up, gathered their belongings and came inside. Phoenix was glaring holes into Hangman’s head. y/n shuffled over on the couch to make room for Bob. The WSO groaned as he sat down.
“Tough flight?” she asked, glancing between him and Phoenix.
“He’s good, I’ll give him that,” Bob said.
“We might have done better if someone hadn’t abandoned his wingman.” Phoenix threw another glare at Hangman, who ignored her.
Bob ran his hands over his face, pushing his glasses up slightly as he did.
“Question,” he said, his voice slightly muffled. His voice was soft enough that only y/n heard him. “Is it still murder if I give them a heads up?”
y/n smiled.
“That’s called a threat.”
“Damn.”
y/n burst into laughter at that. She could feel most of the room looking at her, but she didn’t care. She had missed Bob’s sarcastic comments.
The two of them had trained at Top Gun. They had become close friends during their time together, so when they eventually had to go their separate ways, y/n had been extremely disappointed. They had kept in touch with one another, but it was just different actually being in one another’s presence.
“Everything all right over there?” Hangman asked.
y/n glanced at him, still smiling.
“Doing just fine, Bagman,” she said.
“It’s Hangman.”
“Oh I know.”
A few others, including Bob, chuckled. y/n winked at Bob, resting her arm on the back of the couch. They listened to the rest of training, everyone on the edge of their seat when Hangman and Rooster went back in the air. Everyone could tell that there was beef between Rooster and Maverick, but the group wasn’t expecting them to go below the hard deck trying to best one another in a training exercise.
Training ended when they got back. Rooster went to do his push ups and Maverick dismissed the rest.
“I don’t know about you all,” Payback said, “but I need a drink after all that. Anyone up for heading to the Hard Deck?”
Tumblr media
Dagger Squad ended up claiming one of the pool tables at the back of the bar. They had gotten their drinks from Penny and settled in easily. y/n had chosen one of the stools by the pool tables to sit at. Bob sat next to her and Natasha stood nearby, waiting for her turn.
y/n had her arm around Bob’s chair, her fingers lightly running up Bob’s neck and into his hair. She glanced at him with a smile; his own fingers were tracing small patterns on her leg.
“So what were your thoughts on training today?” y/n asked, glancing between Natasha and Bob.
“Maverick’s a good pilot,” Natasha said. “He managed to shoot down every one of us today.”
“No kidding,” Bob said. “I barely saw him coming. Didn’t help that someone decided to abandon us.”
y/n gently rubbed his neck, trying to calm him a little. They hadn’t been working with the team very long, but they needed to be on good terms with everyone if they were going to work as a team.
“If this mission is as impossible as they’re making it out to be,” y/n said, “Maverick might be our best shot of preparing for it.”
The two nodded in agreement. They watched the others joke around, poking fun at one another as they drank and played pool. Jake sunk another ball, a smirk on his face. He stood up to look at the group.
“Who’s up next?” he called.
Natasha stepped forward, taking the cue from him as Javy reset the table.
y/n looked at Bob.
“You doing all right?” she asked.
“Yeah,” he said. “Just getting used to the new crew. Phoenix is a really good pilot. And I know everyone else is too, but I think some people are going to have to work through some things before the mission.”
“I know the feeling. We’ll figure it out though.”
Bob nodded. Just as the two went to turn their attention back to their friends, someone cleared their throat. y/n glanced to the left, noticing a man leaning on the wall where Phoenix had just been standing. He had a confident smirk on his face and his arms were crossed over his chest.
“Can we help you?” y/n asked.
“Mind if I buy you a drink?” the man said.
y/n exchanged a brief glance with Bob before shaking her head.
“Uh, I think I’m all right. If I want a drink, I can get it myself.”
“Then how about we play a game of pool?”
y/n rolled her eyes. She shifted her in seat to face him more, but left her arm around Bob’s shoulders.
“Listen, I’m really not interested. I’m here to have a good evening with my friends. And if you can’t tell, I’m also here with my boyfriend.”
Bob squeezed her leg. They could feel eyes falling on them, but they elected to ignore it.
“Seriously?” the man said. “This guy?” He motioned to Bob. “You can’t be serious, sweetheart.”
“She is being serious,” Bob said, glaring at the man.
“And I’m not your sweetheart,” y/n said. “What about that is hard to believe?”
“Honey, girls like you don’t go for guys like him.”
“There a problem over here?” The group turned to find that Jake had wandered over, Coyote behind him.
“No problem here,” y/n said. She offered them a fake smile that didn’t reach her eyes at all.
The man looked at Jake with a small smirk.
“I was just telling her that she would be better off with someone other than this baby-faced twig here-”
Suddenly, Bob was out of his seat, gripping the front of the man’s shirt, and landing a punch. The aviators quickly jumped into action to separate the two of them. Payback and Coyote grabbed Bob while Hangman and Omaha got the other man. y/n pulled Bob away, running her hands up his arms and to his face to try and calm him. She glanced over at their friends.
“Make sure Penny has him buy rounds,” she said.
She grabbed Bob’s hand and pulled him out onto the deck, away from everyone. When they were outside, Bob wrapped his arms around her waist. She immediately wrapped her arms around his neck, playing with his hair. They heard the bell inside ring and a cheer go up from the patrons. But the two stood quietly for several minutes.
“You beat me to it,” y/n said eventually. “I was probably gonna kill him.”
She felt him chuckle against her.
“I thought you said murder was bad.”
“No, I said giving a heads up to murder was called a threat.”
Bob pulled away slightly and smiled down at her.
“Ah, I see.” He sighed. “I’m sorry about all that. I think I was still wound up from training and needed to punch someone.”
“I get it.” She pushed his hair out of his face. “Think you’re ready to go back in? I think we’re going to have to explain to everyone what happened. None of them knew we’re together.”
“Phoenix knew.”
y/n tilted her head in confusion.
“How?”
“I told her. She’s my pilot, and I didn’t want there to be secrets.”
y/n smiled.
“I can appreciate that.” She leaned up to kiss him. “Are they watching?”
Bob glanced at the window and chuckled.
“They’re curious.”
“I’m sure.”
Bob leaned down the rest of the way to kiss him. He held her close, happy to have her in his arms.
“I love you,” he said.
“I love you too. Let’s head in before they start demanding answers.”

Top Gun : Maverick *spoilers*
FIVE THINGS :
1) Absolutely love the opening scene, felt a rush of nostalgia listening to “Danger Zone” and watching a similar scene of aircrafts taking off
2) Love the new pilots, especially, Rooster, Phoenix, Bob and Hangman. Hangman has the Iceman vibes to him coming to the rescue at the end
3) Enjoyed that beach scene where they play ball as part of a team building effort, seeing them having fun and laughter together and seeing Maverick smile
4) The aerial training and dogfight scenes are simply out of this world. The sounds of aircraft engines blasting about is just pure eargasm.
5) I didn’t expect so much sad scenes:
- Maverick’s looks when he hears Rooster singing “Great Balls of Fire” and Penny’s look of realisation when she sees his look  - Maverick’s reunion with Iceman and Iceman tells him to “You have to let go...” but Maverick replied, “I don’t know how... - Maverick getting looked down on because he’s “old” and “irrelevant”, being asked why is he still a Captain  - Maverick’s looks when angry Rooster tells him how easy it is for Maverick since he has no family, no children, no one cares if he dies
😭
BONUS :
THAT F-14 TOMCAT! 😱
It is one of those rare franchise where the sequel is as good as the original. The only wasted opportunity is not playing “Mighty Wings” at the end after Lady Gaga’s song.

Nightmares
Hangman x Reader
summary: In which you were in an accident during a mission, and have a nightmare that night, but Hangman is there to help and finally confesses his feelings
warnings: Plane crash, injuries, ANGST, i'm sorry its the only thing I know how to write at this point
wc: 1997
unedited and poor writing i'm sorry.
Tumblr media
This mission, to say the least, was a brutal one. You had never experienced anything like it and it terrified you. Though you knew what you were signing up for, being a fighter pilot, in Top Gun, being invited back, everything, you knew what you were getting into, yet it still scared you.
The pilots that you now considered family wouldn’t leave you alone, not even for a second, and part of you was thankful for that. Setting up a makeshift bed in a conference room that was unused on the USS Enterprise that was bringing them home, the entire team was there. They wanted to make sure you were alright, you got the brunt of the mission and they knew that you needed people surrounding you.
Sooner or later, after replaying everything in your head, just staring at the ceiling, exhaustion took over and you had no choice but to fall asleep, despite your best efforts.
Banking left and right repeatedly, dodging missile after missile, you were running out of time.
“Rooster where are you?” You said worriedly, not knowing how much longer you could dodge their attacks. Your wingman, Rooster, was busy helping Maverick, but you now needed help and were on your own.
“I’m coming, just hold on!” He grunted, like he was having issues of his own.
“You need to hurry up Roos!” You started getting panicky, which definitely was not like you. You were cool and calm under pressure, never having an issue. You were strong and confident, especially in the air.
Everyone on the ground was now starting to worry, the one person that shouldn’t and wouldn’t panic, was now panicking. Biting their nails and looking around at each other worriedly, they zoned in on listening to the comms that connected the pilots to each other and to the ground.
You were now out of time, Rooster couldn’t get to you in time and there was more than one enemy on your tail. Out of flares and missiles, you were running low on bullets too, dog fighting wasn’t an option either.
You’ll never forget the feeling of hopelessness you felt then. You knew the statistic you were briefed on before coming on the mission, the chance that someone wasn’t coming home from this one, you were that someone. You were the one to not come home.
You were the reason your family was going to get a knock on the door by 2 unknown soldiers, and are handed a folded up flag. You were the reason that Bradley would feel guilty for the rest of his life for not being able to save you, Mav too. You were the reason that the rest of the team, Hangman, Phoenix, Bob, all of them, weren’t going to be able to sleep at night knowing they weren’t there to help you.
“It’s too late Roos, make sure you get home safe please.” You said quietly over the comms, his yells automatically erupting. He was coming, but it was too late.
The enemy missile had hit your left wing before you had a chance to even see it coming. It shoved your plane forward and started it in the spiral. With one side of the plane down, it was going down in a flat spin and fast. Loosing your breath you grabbed onto anything that was around you, trying to hold yourself.
“I have to eject!” You yelled, not sure if you were trying to let everyone else know or get yourself to get it done. Either way you were reaching up to the handle above you to remove the canopy. It was a bad idea, although it was your only chance at any survival.
As soon as the canopy was opened, the flames from the missile exploding your wing were swept right into you, burning your flight suit right to your flesh.
Everyone that was connected to the comms would never forget your screams of agony, it haunted them.
Everything else was quite the blur for you, you weren’t sure if it was because you were knocked unconscious or because you trauma blocked the memories, but everything after your parachute opening was either gone or patched together.
What you do remember is hitting the ground, hard. It knocked the breath out of you but once you were able to taking in normal breaths, you tried moving. Tired reaching up to your check to turn on the tracking device that would let people know where you were, but the pain was excruciating. Letting out a blood curdling scream, you ran out of air again. Your body was in more pain than it has, and probably will ever experience.
You weren’t sure if you were able to turn on your tracking device, in too much pain to care, panic was washing over you by the second. This wasn’t how you were supposed to go, alone, scared, in pain.
The panic washed over you and consumed the rest of your thoughts, it was the last thing you remember before your eyes closed and black took over your vision.
You sat straight up, sweat drenching you and your chest rising and falling at a rapid pace. Hand on your chest to try and relieve the pressure you felt on it, you looked around. Everyone around was sleeping, dead to the world. It was a long day for all of them, yourself included, you just wish that you could sleep too.
You thought that you were the only one awake before you went to finish your look around at all the sleeping bodies and made eye contact with the green eyes that were full of concern.
Neither of you had said anything, you just stood up from your spot and walked, well basically ran,  out the door, not wanting to wake anyone up from your heavy breathing. No matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t catch your breath.
Not much longer, Jake followed you out, automatically going straight for you and wrapping you in his arms. You weren’t sure who needed it more, you or him, but neither of you said a word. He held you tight against his body and it was just what you needed to calm down.
You slowly but surely caught your breath again, but you never moved from your spot. It was late, or early in the morning, you weren’t sure, but you did know that no one was awake at this time. It was quiet on the ship, no sounds besides the breaths you two were taking, it was peaceful.
“Thank you” You whispered, not wanting to break the peacefulness. You didn’t move your head from its place on his chest. He had one arm wrapped around your body, the other holding your head to his chest. His head leaned against the top of yours as both of your arms attempted to wrap around his body, but he was much bigger than you, more built.
Neither of you said anything else, he gave a very faint hum to acknowledge you but there was no more attempt to talk.
Little did you know that while you were going through everything in the air, Hangman was losing his cool on the ground. He never got the chance to explain the feeling he developed over the course of training but you made him feel things he didn’t know he was capable of feeling. Love was all he could describe it as.
With that, and not knowing what was happening to you while you were out on the mission and him being grounded, he was losing his mind. Pulling at his usually well kept hair, pacing, practically yelling at his superiors to let him take off and find you, to help you, no one had every seen him act like this.
The other pilots never knew he felt that way about anyone, let alone you, and seeing the usually confident and cocky Hangman lose his cool and break down while their friend was losing their battle in the sky, it was terrifying for all parties included.
“I love you, Y/N” Jake finally said something. It knocked the air out of you yet again. You weren’t sure when your feelings started for the man, or when his feelings started for you, but for some reason it wasn’t a surprise. Well it was, just for the fact that you didn’t think tonight would be the start of this conversation, and that is what gave you a little shock, but you weren’t completely surprised.
Before you could say anything, he continued. “I didn’t know if you were going to come home to me and that was the most terrifying thing I have ever gone through,” He sounded like he was on the verge of tears. It tore your heart apart, but you didn’t look at him, you guys had stayed in the same position that you had been in for at least 20 minutes, just standing in the hallway, holding each other. “I don’t know if you feel the same way but I couldn’t hold it in any longer, not after what happened. Not knowing if I could see your e/c eyes again. Your smile. The way you put me in my place. I couldn’t bare never seeing you again and I just needed you to know that I love you.” He rambled. He was nervous that you didn’t feel the same way, and he wasn’t sure what would hurt more, if you didn’t want him or if you didn’t come back to him.
He didn’t have to worry about either though, not right now at least, because you pulled away and finally looked into his eyes. He looked so scared, exhausted. Your heart broke slightly, knowing you were the cause behind them.
“Jake,” You let out in a whisper, he looked like he was about to collapse, he probably thought you didn’t want him back but boy was he so wrong, “I love you too.” Was all you said as your hand went to rest on his cheek. The touch made him lean into your hand and his eyes close.
He felt like he could breathe again, he was okay and you were okay, you guys were going to be okay.
Jake leaned in slightly, closing the already close proximity you guys were in and letting his lips very softly touch yours. He never understood when people used to say that fireworks exploded when you finally kissed the one until them. He felt them all over his body, you did too. You had never felt such a thing, but once you did, you knew you wanted to experience this for the rest of your life.
“Come on, lets go get some sleep.” He gave you a soft smile after pulling away after a little while. You finally felt the wave of exhaustion hit you again, and you hoped that you could actually sleep this time. Jake could sense the bit of hesitation you had for going back to sleep but he held you close as you guys walked back to the door, “I’ll be right there with you the whole time, I won’t let anything happen to you baby.” He said quietly as you guys pushed throught the door and into the room.
You smile, leading the two of you to where you were sleeping before. Pulling the blanket up, you had slid yourself into the makeshift bed, and left room for him to climb in after you. After settling in, you laid your head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat go steady. It calmed you more than you realized, and soon enough you were dozing off.
“I love you y/n, always.” Jake said very quietly, even you could barley hear him. Feeling the soft touch of his lips on the top of your head you drifted off into sleep, finally able to get some peaceful rest now that you had him to protect you.

*Possible mild spoilers for Top Gun: Maverick*
In my mind, Rooster, Phoenix, Bob, Hangman, Payback, Fanboy, and Coyote became part of a special unit after the events of Top Gun: Maverick because I refuse to believe that they had to separate and go back to their squadrons.

Gorgeous
Pairing: Bradley 'Rooster' Bradshaw x fem!reader
Summary: Everyone goes to the bar to celebrate your night off before training starts tomorrow and Hangman get's a little too much. Needless to say, protective Bradley is pretty fucking hot (contains smut).
Doesn't necessarily contain any spoilers for Top Gun, but if you don't want any type of spoilers, it's probably best not to read on :)
Tumblr media
He intertwines his fingers with yours, and the feeling of his skin against yours is enough to calm the butterflies in your stomach. It's not easy for either of you to be walking back into this place, but you were handpicked for this mission. That's not something you ignore. Besides, part of you feel like coming home.
"Ready?" he asks, and you nod. The bar is already full, but most turn around to see the final two pilots arrive. Bradley 'Rooster' Bradshaw's reputation definitely proceeds him, and you're happy to let him have the spotlight.
"Don't let go of my hand," he whispers and you squeeze his hand gently to let him know that you're right there next to him.
"Well, well, well. As I live and breathe," Jake smirks. He looks at your intertwined fingers before looking up at you.
"You really have scraped the bottom since last," he remarks. Everyone gets busy with the pool game as Jake walks up to you and Bradley. Last time you were here, you came here with Jake. A fact none of you have forgotten.
"Gee. 10 seconds before you turned into a right asshole. Must be a new record for you." It's safe to say there's no lost love between you and Hangman.
"Rooster," he says instead of rising to your comment.
"Hangman. You look good." His grip on your hand tightens but he keeps his face neutral. Nobody wants an argument on the last free night before your mission.
"I'm very good, Rooster. Wish I could say the same about you." He returns to the game, giving you and Bradley a chance to take some deep breaths.
"I need a drink," you state, moving towards the bar. Bradley stays put when Phoenix comes over. You give her a grin before disappearing into the crowd of people. Minutes later you're back with a round of beer for everyone. You deserve it before things get serious tomorrow, besides some old guy at the bar had broken one of Penny's rules, so it's on him.
"So, Y/N. I heard you tanked your last mission. Had to get demoted to the spare team." Already, you're starting to regret that you even showed up tonight. Jake hasn't changed one bit. You're thankful when Bradley's hand finds yours again to let you know that he won't intervene but he's right there.
"And I heard you still weep over me at night," you say with a sweet and very fake smile. It's the wrong thing to say. You know that instantly because everything in his face reveals how he goes from uncomfortable teasing to downright cruel.
"Maybe we should introductions out the way, huh? Coyote, I'd love to hear how you got your name," Phoenix tries to diffuse the tension but the damage has already been done.
"No no, it's fine. She's right. I do weep at night because even I have to admit that you were the best shag I've ever had," he starts, and you feel Bradley go rigid next to you. Jake notices it too and it only makes his smile wider.
"Rooster, I don't doubt you already know this because we both know she gives it up quite easily—"
"Another word out of your mouth, and I will make sure you'll be carried out of here by paramedics." He isn't shouting, he hasn't even stepped closer to Jake, but there's no doubt that he's very serious. You look up at his face, and you've never seen him this angry before. His entire body is tense, and you just know it's taking everything in him to keep himself from throwing himself at Jake.
"You know, I'd be scared if I didn't know your reputation as a pilot, Rooster." Jake is still smiling as he steps closer to Bradley. It's a big mistake, and everyone knows it. You spot Coyote and Payback move closer too - probably to step in when these two start throwing punches.
"At least I care about my teammates enough to not leave them behind," Bradley counters as he releases your hand and steps in front of you.
"Shit," you breathe. This is about to kick off.
"Boys... No fighting in here." Penny is watching the whole scene unfold, and you feel relief hit you like a brick. They're not dumb enough to continue when Penny is standing right there.
"We were just leaving, Penny." You offer her a quick smile before grabbing Bradley's hand and pulling him through the crowd. You force yourself not to look at Jake who's definitely watching you leave with a smirk. Thankfully, the cold air outside seems to help Bradley calm down because he turns to you and says: "I'm sorry. I know you can handle yourself but the things he was saying. No man should speak about a woman like tha—" You wrap your arms around his neck and kiss him. Now that you're not worried about a potential fight, you can't ignore just how fucking hot Bradley looked in there.
"You are ridiculously hot. I don't think I've ever been more attracted to you than I was in there," you say when you finally break apart. You're breathing heavily but you want more. You want all of him right now.
"That was hot? I thought I totally ruined feminism by acting like a caveman and not letting you handle him yourself," he chuckles. You grab him by the collar and drag him with you to the side of the bar with no windows. You push him up against the wall and places a hand between his legs to cup his bulge.
"Listen, I can handle Jake anytime, but you being protective is just... God, it's sexy." You kiss him again and feel his body respond to your touch, which just turns you on even more. Both his hands cup your cheeks as he kisses you back. When he gently bites your lip, you're about ready to swoon.
"We should go somewhere more private," he whispers as a drunk man stumbles out the bar. You're hidden in the shadows but you know it's much better to go back to your room.
"Let's go," you say and drag him with you.
The walk back takes a lot longer than it should because you just can't keep your hands off each other. Every two seconds, you stop just to feel each other. You can hardly describe how good it feels when his body is pressed against yours. When you finally return, your cheeks are burning from anticipation. You've already unbuttoned his shirt by the time you hear the soft click of the door closing. It is not fair for any man to look like this.
"The things I want to do to you," you note as you look at your incredibly gorgeous boyfriend.
"Tell me," he breathes, eyes full of desire. You lean up and whisper things that would make most people blush, but he isn't blushing. In fact, he's looking at you and dares you to do just that. To do as you please with him, and you're more than happy to comply.
"Lie down on the bed." You wet your lips as you watch him lie down on the bed completely at your command. It's so different from how he is normally, but it gives you flutters in your stomach. You crawl on top of him and unzip his pants. You want to take it slow and drive him crazy, but you realise quickly that you can't wait. You want to feel him inside of you.
"I'm going to ride you," you say out loud and lock eyes with him. You bite down on your lower lip as you watch him struggle to lay still. In a matter of moments, you're both naked and very ready. For just a brief second, you hover on top of him, but it's not nearly enough for any of you.
"Please." One single word and it does so many things to you that you're not even remotely coherent enough to analyze. Your hands lean on his muscular chest as you start moving up and down. The lamp on the night shade is bathing Bradley in a soft, golden light, and you feel speechlees at the sight. Small beads of sweat are resting on his forehead, and you just might come right then and there.
"That's it," he moans and brings up his hands to your waist to help set the pace. When he sits up with you on top, you feel everything tighten as you come the first time.
"One more," he breathes, and you can do nothing but obey. The second orgasm hits you just as he finishes. You're both sweaty and panting when he wraps his strong arms around your waist and holds you in place as he gets up from the bed and carries you to the bathroom.
"Better clean up before we go to bed," he says, carefully lifting you up and off him. The emptiness hits you but it isn't long until Bradley has got the warm water running and falls to his knees in the shower. You don't have to be told when you spread your legs to give him access.
"You're so beautiful," he whispers against your inner thigh as he places little kisses up your thigh. Your hands find his hair, and you pull slightly as he reaches the spot. Your legs grow weak as you squeeze your eyes shut. He directs one of your legs over his shoulder for better access, and you're absolutely done for.
"Bradley," you gasp and grip his hair tightly. He groans and you feel the vibrations. It's almost too much pleasure at once. By the time, the water turns cold, you're almost too sleepy to stand on your own.
"I love you," he smiles as you cuddle up in bed.
"And I love you, Bradley Bradshaw."

jake seresin | masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hi everyone! here's my masterlist to my jake hangman seresin stories. 18+
More coming your way.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read them.
SERIES
Ivy
Reeling from a recent break-up with your childhood love, Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw; you find yourself in the arms of a certain asshole Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin by accident, you could say. The thing is, the morning after, the three of you are called back to Top Gun for a mission.
Should be easy enough to keep it all secret and put some distance between you and them, right? Not at all. Because at every turn either Rooster or Hangman is waiting for you, ready to make you come back to him or pour his heart out about his feelings for you. Secret hookups are honestly not your fault, being the best pilot that you can be within all that mess and choices have to be made without breaking someone’s heart.
Mamma mia
Going back to your hometown for a summer sounded like a good plan before you started your graduate program, what you didn’t count on was having three whirlwind romances with Bob ‘Bob’ Floyd, Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin, and Bradley ‘Rooster’Bradshaw. And much less, that you would end up pregnant by the end of the summer after they all graduated Top Gun and left. Six years later, Rooster, Hangman, and Bob are called back for a mission and they see you again. Now, with a six-year-old daughter that somehow they think looks exactly like them.

I have no clue how the communication system between these planes works but I believe they all can hear each other? So when Rooster went „talk to me, dad” and Mav replied and affectionately called him „kid” and told him not to think… everyone heard that? They must have thought „awwwww, these two again, such a sweet father-son moment BUT NOW IT’S NOT THE TIME TO DO THIS”.
Fuck, I love Rooster and Maverick so damn much, their relationship is my hands-down favourite thing about this movie.

What are your favorite parts of TGM that you feel enhance the original now?
Oh, so it mostly has to do with how it is now much more clear what the intention was behind throwing away Goose's dog tags into the ocean. And just his relationship with Goose in general.
Top Gun Maverick makes it very clear that Maverick was never throwing Goose out of his life by throwing those dog tags into the ocean. He still very much asks for Goose's opinions. But... It's less for what he said it for in the first movie and what all other pilots use it for. As a second set of eyes. No; this is for Goose's opinion. Maverick asks for Goose to talk to him when he sees the sun on the horizon, when he sees the beauty of the world. He would want to know what Goose's thoughts are, because he knows Goose would love it. It's about their love for the world and for each other.
Then there is the second time, and this really opened my eyes on what Maverick was doing when he threw Goose's dog tags (one set, Goose had two) into the ocean.
He wasn't letting him go.
He was burying him. Maverick was letting Goose's memory rest at sea. The place he and Goose spent the most time (other than the air) together. That's why he looks out at the ocean when he says it.
Maverick is metaphorically at Goose's grave.
And this being made much more clear that he never really just forgot Goose is so important because it shows one never really can let go of their loved ones. The love just changes.
By also putting Goose to rest at sea, Maverick is deciding that he wants to stay in the navy, at sea, by Goose. This is made clear by Warlock saying right afterward going, "You are where you belong."
And that makes me so damn happy. This makes the whole dog tags things less silly and more powerful.
I love Top Gun so much.
