oh yeah I did finish totk last friday. it was fine I was able to beat the final boss. fun game, my overwhelming zelda bias is encoded to the core of my being, but I definitely agree with the writing critiques re: throwing botw zelda under the bus by reinforcing all the fate/worth/tradition baggage, it was really disappointing to have zelda and link reunite after botw and then immediately separate for totk... at least send link back and make zelda the protag to keep it fresh. there's also a... well, imo, a strange thematic war of future vs past where the past needs to guide the next generation and the next generation needs to overcome the past, but there's no clear thesis on what needs to be kept from the past and why. and in fact... link losing the blessings of the previous champions (the only memento he had left from them) hurt my feelings :'( and they were almost completely irrelevant except for mipha having a statue. I mean, technically you could consider 'things to keep' as amping up technological advances based on context from the past, but that wasn't really relevant to the wider world AND ALSO that was ALREADY present in botw, with zelda as a more active agent in Exploring The Possibilities(ish)... there's the idea of inheriting power/duty tied to the new champions, but it feels kind of weak because that was already present from each of the past champions already having a direct impact on their people... I dunno, it works as narrative justification for a video game to have story and mechanics, but it was disappointing to me after how much characterization we got from zelda during botw

OKAY IM ACTUALLY AMAZED

so the game adjusts the difficulty of temples based on where you are in the game ! ! !

so i did the wind temple with Sidon, Riju, Max Stamina, 40+ damage weapons etc... and the constructs I fought on the deck were level IV or higher. The weapons I found in the chests were 40+ damage too.

But im watching this guy, who's playing the wind temple as his first... and the constructs are level II, and the weapons he's getting are around 15-20 damage.

MAN. okay. actually amazed at the attention to detail. maybe this isn't something to be gawking at but I didn't know they did this ! ! ! that's crazy ! ! ! :D It takes into account your level! ! ! I dont remember if BOTW did that with the Divine Beasts... I dont think it did?

anyway, this game great actually.

Im the guy who goes around Hyrule putting individual arrows in crates. It doesn't pay well but when what you do helps people thats its own kind of reward

idk I was not very emotionally invested in the story of totk like... it's giving nothing. sorry. I did not feel like a part of this world or an attachment to these characters. you won't ever be skyward sword

like half a year ago I stopped playing totk bc I kept eating shit at the silver lionel right before the final boss & today I picked it up & was just like. whatever I’m finishing the game today.

tip: don't do this. took me like 7 i hate yous to even hit him with the full force of it 😭 the lynels are just too vigilant and agile to let you walk up and hit them with that bugs bunny shit

I wanna progress in totk (main quest-wise I've just completed the regional phenomenae) but my sister likes to watch me play and shes still needs to do the rito temple... so I'm scared to progress which would probably spoil her 😭 yesterday I tried to go to hyrule castle cause I want royal guards stuff & zelda started trying to talk to me and i literally closed the game and loaded a previous save
