The trio doesn't know how to make small talk

Norman tries so hard to do it and come off as polite and friendly but he doesn't really know what to say??

"The weather is really balanced today!"

"And what is your favourite book if I may ask?"

But if he says "have you ever[..]" the conversation could go from the weather to why the Pythagoras theorem is actually useful for day to day life and scientific related topics

Piggybacking off the tags of my previous post but it pains me to think of how Takahiro Obata still went balls to the wall for the new tracks in S2 even after TPN Committee gave up on making a satisfying adaption. The choral backing of this track that plays during the pursuit of the first wild demon the kids encounter in S2e01 (but before the pursuer demons from the farm show up) enhances the gravity of the situation they find themselves in, elevating it beyond the surface layer of their singular, individual encounter to one of another plane where they’re fighting for their very souls, underscored with percussion to ramp up the tension and then the introduction of the brass for a grand sense of triumph. This is taking advantage of a medium shift.

Chapter 129: "My Burden"

I dunno if this room is somewhere beneath the paradise hideout or just nearby. Anime gives the impression that this place is under the room the trio were just having their discussion in, but regardless on wherever we are right now, how in the hell did y'all manage to move a demon this large down here? I know Cislo, Barbara and Zazie are strong but could they manage that?

Norman looking almost sad that Emma & Mujika are close, if only because he knows how important Emma considers all her friends, so the emotional ties between them is the main problem. Their bond is only convenient as it'll help locate Mujika later. Also, Cislo's face in the second panel is funny to me.

Of course I shall praise Barbara's voice actresses for how they portrayed her anger in this scene, and as terrifying as her flashbacks to Lambda are, I do like it also gives us a brief look at Goodwill Ridge and the artificial lighting it uses similar to the Grand Valley farms & Goldy Pond, as we found out in the ch77 extra page with Violet & Emma.

I feel so bad for them and how they have to endure these kinds of attacks almost daily, not to mention the trauma that resulted from all those years trapped at Lambda being experimented on. It's clear to see why their hatred towards the demons is so strong.

The way the anime shifts in and out of focus on this one moment is real nice too, as if our vision is getting blurry by our own tears.

I can also appreciate how the anime kept Norman's face hidden during the majority of this conversation. It really enjoys making him seem so cold.

Seeing all those jars full of demon parts really puts into perspective just how busy Norman and the squad have been since their escape. To conduct so many experiments on the demons, among destroying countless farms, rescuing other children, maintaining paradise and making deals with demons is certainly a lot to handle in just about ten months (they escaped Lambda in February and it's currently November, yeah?)

To this day I'm baffled they managed to escape Lambda at all. I mean, I'm still in awe how the fifteen kids escaped GF and that was with mainly Isabella on guard. And I love that woman with all my heart and soul and know exactly how big of a threat she is on her own, but compared to several demons? And with other adults always on watch? How?? I know Norman had help from Smee and whatever else but damn guys.

I can't even blame him about having no regrets or even his choices. Of course Norman's methods are extreme but so is everything else in this world. It's cruel and unrelenting and if you don't fight back just as hard then you'll die. He's simply using what he learned in order to survive.

This shouldn't be a surprise. This panel and quote of his is damn iconic. The anime could never replicate the same kind of energy.

Thinking of the fact Yuugo and Ray could've had multiple filler episodes during the Goldy Pond arc to flesh out their bond....

It kinda hurts because the anime had so much potential it just straight-up missed!!!!! I had been saying thousands of times before it came out: give me all the younger kids fillers. I was... Kinda ok with the season being so short and them not having announced Bunkerman's VA, because since I couldn't see them including Goldy Pond in 11 episosodes, I thought it would have given us additional, original content on the time the children spent with Sonju and Musica. I'm not kidding when I say I genuinely enjoyed the first half of episosode 4 (no Bunkerman aside)- the kids being kids was exactly what I wanted. I was just striving for more content, while what they gave us was.. That. But it's ok, it's over now.

love love love the way clothing in tpn is used as a symbol of oppression with the plain pure-white gendered dress code at the farms but also as a symbol of rebellion and liberation post-escape with the bunker uniforms that, while still plain on their own are no longer subject to a rigid dress code and can be modified by the kids however they please, such as gillian altering the longer skirts into short pleated ones to suit hers and other girls' styles and covering hers and the younger kids' shirts in patches and even smaller things that set kids apart like don's short sleeves and nat keeping his shirt tucked in etc etc.

clothing as a rebellion against gender roles where the girls are always shown wearing skirts at gracefield even in the middle of winter, and how they're all dressed exactly the same as the boys during the escape. many of the girls choosing to wear skirts with the bunker uniforms but wearing pants in situations where its more practical or comfortable to do so. emma, the protagonist, never wearing a skirt after the escape. paula, violet, and barbara never being seen in a skirt at all. violet's entire character being a rejection of gender roles.

colored clothing as a form of rebellion in only seeing monocrome button-up uniforms when the kids are on the run and then getting to goldy pond, the first arc where they fight back against the demons head-on, and everyone is wearing unique, brightly colored outfits. how ray specifically is one of the people who have suffered the farm’s oppression the longest due to knowing the farm’s secret from the beginning, and how post timeskip he’s always seen with a blue scarf that sets his outfit apart from all the other black and white uniforms. seeing bright unique clothing again with the lambda squad while they go around blowing up farms and liberating kids.

clothing as a symbol of personal growth with norman wearing a suit during his minerva meltdown because he has taken on the responsibility of protecting and saving every cattle child despite the fact that he himself is only a child, and how afterward he is shown matching with emma, ray, don, and gilda again. main story ray wearing bright white because thats all he was able to wear vs post-canon ray who is always shown wearing black/dark colors because those are the colors that HE likes. i love clothes in tpn

Here’s some info about him:

- He has double swords

- He got a Electro Vision

- He has a broken mask that look like a tiger/fox (I don’t really know honestly)

- His tiger plushie is always on him

- The plushie is a gift from Norman, but Vincent gave it to him

- He’s born at Lambda

- He’s five years old

- He doesn’t talk

- Norman and the squad are the only one who can understand him

- He’s really attached to the gang, especially the boss

- The braids in his hair are done by Barbara when she’s bored

- Even if he can’t really talk, he still love to tell the gang stories, since he knows that they understand him

- He love to give them hugs

- One time he is serious, the other he act like a child

- He had been created the same way the Electro Archon created the Shogun and Scaramouch
