Dear Vector Prime, A long time ago your incarnation from Axiom Nexus told us about how a team of scientists worked to create the Trainbots, and each of them named a different member of the team. Since then we've learned about two other Trainbots, Yamabuki and Ginou - who named them?

They named themselves, as it happens—though not without some outside influence.

As with the majority of the prototype "G Liner" Trainbots, Yamabuki was not given a formal name upon her creation, instead going by her development codename "Yellow" or her nickname "Doctor". It was under this name that she met fellow medic Atari Hitotonari of the Earth Defense Command, who helped Yellow to work through her complicated feelings about her position as the Trainbots' doctor, and the two subsequently became close friends. One evening, Atari remarked that Yellow's paintwork reminded her of her favorite flower, the Japanese kerria; during her time as a member of the EDC's Kiss Players, Atari would look at those flowers to take her mind off of the stress of her experiences, and she now found that looking at Yellow gave her the same feeling of comfort. Touched by Atari's kind words, Yellow decided to rename herself "Yamabuki" after the flower, as a tribute to her friend.

Ginou, meanwhile, was originally known as "Silver" for the layer of silvanite—a unique, reactive metal—that covered his superstructure. After discovering his ability to manipulate silvanite to create protective barriers, Silver travelled to the New Energy Resource Research and Development Laboratory where the substance had been discovered, wanting to learn more and master his strange powers. Doctor Ōgaki, head of the laboratory, took Silver under his wing; he had more experience with silvanite than most, as his friend, the late Ginnosuke Minakaze, had discovered the mineral while the two were working together. With Ōgaki's guidance, Silver became a proficient combat nurse and defensive warrior, and took the name "Ginou" to honor his mentor's old friend.

Okay so imagine all 6 trainbots got on the lost light, and sometimes Shouki would make Rodimus ride him (not in a transportation way) in Rodimus's office. Now, imagine Yukikaze (Shouki's canon younger brother) walks in on them and NOPEs right out

One thing I don't really get:

MPM lacks the fit and finish of masterpiece. In many areas it's clunky and underdone, without the premium feel. Yet the fandom claims it's "Masterpiece".

MPG has the fit and finish, the class, the engineering, yet because the combined mode is a little bit lacking in the proportions department, and because it follows the realistic style of old MP, not the toon style of new MP, "it's not MP".

I've...never understood. I feel the general consensus is all backwards.

you're telling me the japanese g1 continuity has a combiner team called the trainbots who are all trains and they just ? don't appear in any american transformers timeline? they're exclusive to the japanese g1 timeline?

There are two types of favorite characters in the Transformers fandom, and most people have one of each.

1: an at least semi-popular character, has had some sort of media in the past decade and has a decent amount of fans

2: the blorbo who has one line and hasn't seen the light of day since 1988, you're pretty sure you're their only fan. Not even AO3 has fics of them

His own. He heard music in all the sounds his keen audio receptors sensed, and as a result composed music in unusual time signatures, such as 84/19. Typical tracks consist of sounds of tinny aircraft overhead and bassy rail-grinding of underground trainbots; the rhythmic clicking of his cassettes shuffling and rewinding in his chest compartment; the unique sound of dozens of transforming cogs converting simultaneously.

He also listens to Daft Punk.

What have I done. Anyway, I need to ride this train in more ways than one. I feel like Shouki would be into cockwarming and sweet interfacing. You know what? It's crackship time. G1 Shouki x IDW Rodimus. I might actually design IDW designs for the trainbots.
