Content warning!!
This is about last stand of the wreckers and it includes SPOILERS. I also really wished someone had warned me about how bad it gets. Honest to god I’m putting this under a cut because it deserves a trigger warning.
Warnings: violence, mentions of that one Saving Private Ryan scene, I shouldn’t have read the series at midnight.
The only reason idw hasn’t perished for being too gory is because they are robots not humans, Springer gets HIS FACE PUNCHED OFF and that scene where it’s finally explained by Ironfist via flashback what Impactor did- how jaded everyone but Springer was to his actions.
No one helped Springer, they watched as he desperately tried to save the Povans. I wanna hold that boy close now oh my god.
And oh my lord the TWO SIDEDNESS. Especially Rotormaster’s panels about being an excellent flier! And he just admits he was lying??? AND THEN GETS SHOT IN THE FACE??
Fun thing is: I connect with transformers more than I do with humans. Call it my autism or something but I would much rather live in a world where gender doesn’t exist and I’m a big tall robot. That being said, I think this hit me way harder than it should’ve.
Impactor in the beginning showing his weakness too. It’s not super obvious but you can tell he DOES NOT want to go back to g-9. He is traumatized and despite his literal war crimes I would give him a cup of chocolate milk. He needs to be comforted so bad. All of them do.
TW: death and Saving Private Ryan
There were only 4 deaths. Only 4 wrecker deaths and each one felt like my heart was being crushed. It was disgusting, vile, brutal just for the hell of it. I saw my favourite characters at their lowest. It was awful. The last time I felt like this I was watching the saving private Ryan D-Day scene. It didn’t make me cry but it gave me nightmares for three days. I really hope that sins of the wreckers is gentler.
The comic is a masterpiece and I commend the people who wrote it. The details and the writing made me feel for ironfist, pyro, and verity. Characters I did not know prior to reading the comic. I seriously felt like I was there with them and that’s probably the reason I was so affected by all the tragedy. I personally got to understand springer and Impactor a little better, and know why Fort Max goes into a fit in mtmte. I can’t be mad or upset about it because it was good- but I really think more fans should put warnings on the comics before you read them. I read some of the brutal DC comics and was not this affected by them. Probably something to do with attachment to the characters.
Still, I love it as much as I hate it. It really opened my eyes to how bad it gets in the war- as much as I want it to be the funni g1 stuff. IDW is great but I honestly think you should be over 16 to read that- I’m lucky I only read MTMTE when I was little.
Also this: I love prowl he’s my asshole. He makes calls for better or for worse and unfortunately he’s the guy you complain about when his call goes wrong. Still- I wanna kick his Praxian ass for not showing any empathy. Ultra Magnus is doing better than him (even tho I feel like he was kinda ooc)
Anyways that’s my two cents on Last Stand. It’s really bad but it’s done really well.

Book Review: Ruined Sinners to Reclaim
Tumblr media
What does Scripture say about sin, and how can it best be understood and articulated today? Ruined Sinners to Reclaim explores the depths of human sinfulness and the boundless grace of God.
Historical, Biblical, Theological, and Pastoral Perspective
The second book in a planned series on the Doctrines of Grace, this volume is a masterpiece. Edited by David Gibson and Jonathan Gibson, with contributions from respected theologians like Michael A. G. Haykin, Mark Jones, and Daniel Strange -- this book is incredibly rich. With the doctrine of Total Depravity as the basis, this book examines sin and depravity in historical, biblical, theological, and pastoral perspective.
Gibson and Gibson begin the book by explaining that we are to see the seriousness of our sin so that we can be stunned by the splendor of God and his stooping to save us. This book takes a doctrine from the past and provide a framework to best articulated today. It is a thorough and profound take on the subject matter of sin.
Good News
I was most pleased to read N. Gray Sutanto's essay On Revelation and the Psychical Effects of Sin. He shows how God gives common grace to restrain nonbelievers’ sinful selves so that they are actually never as bad as they could be. Christian witnesses can speak to the unconscious and conscious suppressing of sin, hoping and praying for the sheep to hear the voice of their Shepherd. I am challenged to find ways to disrupt and expose the way my family and friends willingly and unwillingly deeply suppress their knowledge of God and the ruptured relationship they have with him for the sake of evangelism.
Albert Mohler ends the book with a passionate call on Preaching to Sinners in a Secular Age. He acknowledges that the notion of sin is an affront to modern humanity. He reminds Christian preachers to see sin as essentially theological in nature. It is in this way that preachers can transform worldviews to understand sin as a human problem against a transcendent Creator. There is a cosmic significance to sin. And by preaching the whole counsel of God, we can allow scripture to give way to the Good News.
Rescued and Redeemed
Ruined Sinners to Reclaim not only explained the doctrine of Total Depravity but inspired me to reflect on my own relationship with sin of which I have been rescued and redeemed. As a masterful exploration of theological depth and pastoral relevance, this book illuminates sin in a world desperate for the incomparable grace of God.
I received a media copy of Ruined Sinners to Reclaim and this is my honest review. Writing Prompts: Old Kids Shows vs New Kids Shows
This is a 'self-made' prompt, as it were. I made it myself! I was thinking about how the kids of today find the childhood programs of my era to be weird. The cartoons of the 80s and 90s certainly have some unique qualities, but then again, to me, the cartoons of today's era have some quirks all their own.
Tumblr media
Yes, Bananaman was real. A boy eats a banana and becomes a superhero. The not-so-subtle message is 'eat your fruit and veg to be big and strong'. Not a bad message, but it was delivered in a terrifying way. There is something profoundly strange at how Bananaman looks. He is very unnatural. His transformation was faintly disturbing. Somehow, this was allowed on air.
Tumblr media
Button Moon was quite a sweet, gentle show, aimed at small children.
Tumblr media
Now this was a show I loved. It was called Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles here, due to negative connotations with the term ninja. The show, about four teenage, erm, mutant turtles, named after famous Renaissance artists, became a huge global success, and I remember the immense excitement of waiting to see the live-action movie. The TV series was formulaic; the evil pair of Shredder and Krang would attack, the turtles would thwart them, they'd escape and try again. On rare occasions, there's be a two-parter, but each episode was usually standalone.
Tumblr media
Darkwing Duck, like TMNT, was largely around standalone episodes. It was fun, it was pretty daft in places, and as with nearly all cartoons of the early 90s, actions and consequences of one episode did not carry over into the next. All that would begin to change with...
Tumblr media
Gargoyles could have been called a 'TNG' reunion. Several cast members from Star Trek: The Next Generation had recurring roles, including Jonathan Frakes as the self-centred Xanatos, and Marina Sirtis as the villainous Demona. Brent Spiner turned up as a couple of characters, and other Star Trek alumni appeared too (David Warner, Kate Mulgrew, Avery Brooks and Michael Dorn all starred, as did Nichelle Nichols. Gargoyles also broke the mould. Here was a darker, more serious show, that was still intended for children, but older children, and teens. It did not dumb things down. Actions had consequences. Characters made bad choices. There were story arcs lasting several episodes. It was a masterpiece, and it is a crime that Disney have not revisited this show. Modern cartoons now tend to have long-running threads, married to standalone episodes that might weave a thread into them. Kids are treated with respect, with a lot of 'kids' shows being quite sophisticated. Take for example, My Little Pony, which despite being aimed at small children, garnered a lot of respect for its storytelling and style. Sometimes kids TV can be very preachy (there was a Stargate show, Stargate Infinity, that was painfully over the top for this), and this can be be very off-putting. Some modern cartoons for older kids are, to me, surreal (then again, Bananaman is surreal to today's generation).
Tumblr media
This is an insane show. It is filled with deliberately different forms of animation, and features some crazily different characters, in an eclectic world. It is bright and colourful on the surface, but some of the stories stray into grim territory! There is a wry sense of humour that underpins the slapstick element, and one of the characters - Richard - can give Homer Simpson a run for his money in the stupid dad stakes. I have laughed out loud several times at this show. It is quite brilliant.
Tumblr media
Star vs the Forces of Evil is a show I myself sorely underestimated when I first saw it. Underneath the bubbly, zippy façade is a deep, cultivated show, with lore and history and creativity. There are long-running arcs, romances, themes of discrimination and oppression, and it's one of the most sophisticated shows out there.
Tumblr media
The original DuckTales was an entertaining show with a catchy theme song. I enjoyed it. DuckTales 2017 is an absolutely superb show, a champion of gorgeous animation, great characters, and so many different ways of entertaining the audience. There is not a bad episode of this show, which both pays homage to the original show, whilst updating the characters and setting. I love this show so much that I have a tattoo of Scrooge McDuck on my arm, and I lamented its early demise in a lengthy post last year. Read the full article

2004 Musical Best of List
Top 10 CD’s – Full lengths 2004
10.   Juno Reactor – Labyrinth
Any new Juno Reactor release should be of note to fans.  This one certainly doesn’t disappoint old fans and should find a legion of new fans as well.  “Labyrinth” is a masterpiece of orchestral-techno-trance that plays like an energetic fueled epic. A range of diverse world music influences from the Spanish guitar work on into native chants and more shines through here next to super crisp production. Some of “Labyrinths” songs are much more softened than usual material showcasing a new spirit for Juno Reactor.
 09.   Pow[d]er Pussy – 6 ways from Sunday
A collaboration between Herman of Ah Cama-Sotz and This Morn' Omina’s Mika Goedrijk.  Each of these artist and their individual projects can certainly hold their own while together they continue to push new boundaries with sound.  Last years “One Day” 3” CD was just a teaser of things to come and the long player “6 Ways from Sunday” delivers quick, powerful, heavy contagious beats of industrial dance noise.  From the get-go - driving techno rhythms and a futuristic sound yet with some roughness and raw energy also reminds of the old EBM style.  Packaged nicely in a minimal cardboard case as well. <>
08.   Parallel Project - Fusion
Negative Format's Alex Matheu usually never fails to make my list. For 2004 he returns with his side (Parallel) Project. Take Alex’s gifted work in the genres of ebm and trance, plus some astonishing exploration into down-tempo, ethereal and break beat and then add a host of diverse guest vocalist from across the scene including Seize’s Sandrine Gouriou, Stromkerns Ned Kirby, Tom Shear of Assemblage 23, Meyer of Haujobb, Jennifer Parkin from Ayria, System Syn’s Clint Carney, Psyche front man Darrin Huss, Courtney Bangert of God Module, Victoria Lloyd of Claire Voyant, a rare vocal performance by VNV Nations Mark Jackson, Kristy Venrick of the Azoic as well as G. Wygonik from Cut.Rate.Box.  The result is a satisfying album full of club potential yet with enough material as well for after club/at home headphone listening. While some have expressed thoughts that the guest vocals only play second fiddle to all the musical dynamics, my personal take on it is that the different vocalists really set this release apart from Alex’s main trance tendencies of Negative Format and lend themselves well to new styles.
07.   Blank – Artificial Breathing Certainly had to include this release, which has been a favorite since June. Blank first made an appearance mixing Stromkern’s “Perfect Sunrise” and in 2004 released a steady stream of 3 releases(!!!) – the full-length “Artificial Breathing”, the single “Overhead” and then the split remix release with Icon of Coil side-project Moonitor for the U-Turn 3 release series.  2004 was certainly Blanks year, but I’ll be shocked, saddened and surprised to see this release possibly omitted from many top 10 lists this year. Drawing inspiration from the early industrial pioneers along with the more modern trance masters, Blanks debut full length is dynamically paced aggressive dark ebm with trance elements, full of soaring soundscapes and  progressive rhythm structures with no slowdowns.  Targeted right for the dance floor, it’s been a while since I’ve heard this much exuberance in a release, especially so with a debut.  With a nod to Leather Strip, XMTP and especially “Hard-wired” era FLA “Artificial Breathing” is a great release that can serve as a transition between the harsher elektro bands and the more accessible future-pop stylings. Let’s hope more people pay attention to this promising act.
06.   State of the Union – Inpendium
A disc to become instantly addicted to.  Hearing of WTII Records financial “problems” I thought this might never see a domestic release so I got the import version on Infacted. (The domestic version has since been released).  What this band has transformed themselves into is nothing short of amazing.  State’s debut failed to make a blip on my radar but “Inpendium” hits the mark BIG TIME.  Conceived as a concept album dealing with devastation of the future and present on a personal as well as global scale “Inpendium” covers a lot of ground both lyrically and musically. “Intro” and “Escape” serve as a transitional launch pad right into the floor killer “Timerunner”. And then in an odd turn SOtU takes the listener into a delerium-like instrumental with ”Trapped in Time”. The rest of this disc follows the conceptual theme well in some momentous and inventive songs.  Can’t wait to hear what they do next. Of note is that
Johann Sebastian will be working on the music for the next Bruderschaft release.
05.   Icon of Coil – Machines are Us Limited box edition</>
Quite possibly, Icon of Coils most definitive release.  Highly anticipated and certainly a disc that measured up to the hype surrounding the release. Being an insane collector I ordered the strictly limited edition deluxe box set (1500 copies worldwide). The contents include a special booklet, postcard, and sticker in a pocket, the regular CD, plus the special 6-track bonus CD ''SoundDivE.P.,'' which includes EXCLUSIVE tracks.  Icon of Coil continues executing near flawless musical perfection on this release. Razor-sharp baselines meld with uplifting synth arpegiations propelling songs straight for dance floor dominance once again. Sticking with what they know and exercise well (call it future-pop if you must), IOC did experiment with some more electroclash and d+b-like rhythms to great effect on “Machines”. While the ebm fueled “Shelter” and “Dead Enough for Life” were constantly in heavy rotation on dance floors, for me it was the slower "Sleepless" that really REALLY caught my attention. The emotional intensity alone in that song is worth the price of the CD itself yet there is much in the ways of intensity throughout the entire disc.  The accompanying Sound:Dive EP features some further excursions into IoC music. Sadly the 8am version of Sleep:less doesn’t pack the same punch as the regular CD version, but hearing Delobbo COMPLETELY trance out “Transfer Complete” is a fair trade off as are the other mixes/selections of  “Consumer” and “Wiretrip”.   A phenomenal year for Icon Of Coil complete with a US tour to back up the release and members still found the time to release material from all their side projects including Combichrist, Monofader, Moonitor and Panzer AG .  Don’t expect them to slow down in 2005 either.<>
04.   Seabound – Beyond Flatline
Seabounds music is always captivating and “Beyond Flatline” continues to showcase this bands talents. This German duo more so than any other band elicits a strong cinematic and moody imagery/feeling within each release and individual song.  Their sound is mature and focused from the more upfront future-pop techno of “Contact” and “Poisonous Friend” into the subdued “Soul Diver”. Another standout aspect of Seabound is the constantly personal lyrics that paint a scene within ones mind so perfectly. It’s hauntingly beautiful at times, but you’d expect that from a vocalist who’s real job is professor and Chair of Differential Psychology and Psychodiagnostics in the Department of Psychology at the University of Saarland!!!  A fully coherent release from vocal-oriented to (almost) instrumental songs, from pop with an undercurrent to a reminiscence of industrial sounds.
03.   Mind.In.a.Box – Lost Alone
Not classifiable and not an album that can be pigeonholed, nor should it. “Lost Alone” is intricate and complex, a conceptual story following the theme of isolation/being alone.  The music itself is made by a shy and reclusive Viennese video game developer and is a striking amalgamation of many electronic sounds that all provide a flowing dark dance groove. HIGHLY innovative with plenty of digital trickery, vocoder and vocal effects throughout. Take a listen to the one-sided telephone conversation in “"Questions," for an example of the vocal trickery. Continued listens allows the listener to still discover things buried within the flawless production, crafty beats, seductive bass, and REALLY moody arrangements. Fans won’t have to wait long for a follow up as Mind.In.A.Box is already preparing a new single and album "Dreamweb" planned for  the first half of 2005.
<>
02.   Assemblage 23 – Storm deluxe import edition</>
There’s something special about Tom Shear and Assemblage 23.  The elements used to create his music are really quite simplistic in nature - nothing too self-aggrandizing like a plethora of other acts who come off as over excessive on so many levels.  Assemblage 23 consistently delivers and “Storm”, Assemblages 4
th
release continues Toms further dominance of the elektro-industrial scene.  Call it ebm.synthpop, futurepop, whatever – everything fans have come to expect from a23 is presented here and even more so finely tuned and layered.  Certainly Shears other gifted and perhaps most appealing ability is the lyrical content that is ever so emotive.  If you’re falling apart, the telling quality of any a23 lyric can bring strength within. Oh yeah, he can also put those lyrics against a steady BPM for a club track. Just about anything on this disc could have hit the club floors.  I got to hear all these tracks played live @ Infest 04 before the official CD release and the wait was almost unbearable for this release.  Imagine having all those superior a23 hooks in your head for a solid month!!!  The deluxe import version comes packaged in a tri-fold cardboard case - opening the left hand side is a pocket with a pull out 11x17 poster on one side - absolutely beautiful- and on the other the lyrics. The disc rest in a tray in the middle section while the right hand fold out contains a cd-booklet of additional photographs taken by Jenny Sturgis (Scott Sturgis' -converter- wife). The photographs are stunning black and white with one key focal point and serve as a bit of symbolism for the lyrical quality of each track. The cardboard packaging vs. the gloss print of the domestic sleeve/design that I've also seen, just seems to bring about the overall feel of the artwork much better. Obviously a bit more cost involved in packaging a release this way, but with the rise in cd copying it's nice to see some artist putting extra care into giving something more back to the consumer. If you didn't buy the domestic version and want something a little cooler and different, you should consider the import version – but whatever you do, don’t let this release slip you by.
<>
01.   Destroid – Future Prophecies </>
Surprised?  Yeah a hard choice with so much good music released this year.  Destroid shook my mind from the get go.  Even harder to believe that elektro music’s most notorious drunkard is one half the mastermind behind this side-project.  Yeah, Daniel Meyer (of Haujobb and 1 million other projects) teams with the mysterious Japanese Yamazaki to form Destroid.  These guys have taken everything from the elektronik music scenes and just COMPLETELY broke every standard this genre has come to expect. It’s all here from power-electronics to ebm to some future pop, atmospheric overtones and even a ballad(!) yet there’s a consistent flow guiding the listener through the 13 tracks. Full of impact “Future Prophecies” is uncommonly varied and full of impact ~ not much more needs to be said, but a listen should be mandatory.
Honorable Mentions
Pzycho Bitch -The day before and the Day after Sinister female vocals and catchy rhythms Retrosic – God of Hell 3 cd book version Dark electro box set  ltd. to 666 featuring "GOD OF HELL" (Album-CD), "SERVANT OF HELL" (Bonus-CD), "RARITIES COLLECTION" (Bonus-CD-II) Spetzsnaz – Grand Redesign So good it was re-issued with bonus tracks – the new kings of ebm!
<> Last Influence of Brain – Illusions and Reality
Dark apocalyptic electro from Slovakia. A remarkable first effort but they’ll really hit their mark and individual identity on their 2nd CD
Das Ich – Lava Glut
15 years of creating tunes and Das Ich still pounds out a great CD. People always dance to the VNV mix of Destillat so why not make a whole disc that sounds similar!?
System Syn – Premeditated
A great mixture of harshness and more melodic synth sophistication Clint’s voice is the most distinct in the genre.
Terrorfakt – Cold Steel World
Pummeling and awesome. Hard to take all in one sitting/listen however
Wai Pai Wai – s/t
Another output for Ah Cama Sotz’s
Herman Klapholz - edgy, intelligent and danceable but not as effective as Pow[d]er Pussy
In Strict Confidence – Holy Ltd Edition
Killer artwork forced me to purchase the ltd box version. ISC’s quintessential darkwave qualities well executed throughout the entire disc.
</>
Imperative Reaction – Redemption Third release is a charm.  Electro-synth-dance-ROCK.  Would have made the top 10 if I remembered to play it more often at the clubs and the kids would have danced to it rather than being so close-minded.
Top 10 singles of 2004
<>
10  Virtual Embrace – Roots of Evil
Limited 12-track club EP. An electro assaults of upbeat noise sequences, effected vox and earth-shattering electro beats in the same company as Tactical Sekt, Aslan Faction or Amduscia. The EP includes exclusive remixes from Glis, Solitary Experiments, Schattenschlag, Neikka RPM and many, many more. Prepare for a new brutality.
09.  Spetsnaz – Perfect Body
This new EP continues with the old-school EBM vibe of pioneers like DAF and Nitzer Ebb.  Vigorous rhythms, chanting vocals and hard sequenced bass-lines. “That Perfect Body” is just fun and addicting in the same way Ebbs “Join in the Chant” is. The Earlobe mix has a bit more trance synth work than the original and the new On the edge ( Bodybeats Version ) mixes things around the standard Teutonic beats. If you miss the glory days of Nitzer Ebb this band is for you.
08.  Lights of Euphoria – One Nation
LoE Mastermind Torben Schmidt plays synths live for Suicide Commando so it was naturally only a matter of time before the influence of Johans music creeped into Lights of Euphoria.  This release sounds more like SC than Lights of Euphoria and that’s even ignoring the fact Johan van Roy adds vocals on  "You Better run".  Title track "One Nation" even features more darkly and aggressive overtones. Remixes from Massiv in Mensch and Syrian push the original mix into techno trance and synthpop realms respectively, while Painbastard and Heimataerde take “You Better Run” into unmerciful new arrangements.
</> <>07.  Combichrist – Blut Royalle
Limited edition white vinyl of 666 copies.  Combichrist new one is rigid, refusing to play nice. This is the ugly brother side-project to Icon of Coils front man.  Very rhythmic aggressive electronic music (almost dirty techno) incorporating an aural onslaught meant to disturb. Fans of Ant-Zen/Hymen artist are familiar with this style of music through artist like Roger Rotor or even Imminent, but with Andy’s fame with Icon of Coil he’s introducing these sounds to an audience who may have ignored them until now.
06.  Neikka RPM – Here’s Your Revolution the DJ edition
Limited to 150 copies only, female fronted Neikka RPM creates beat-heavy seductive trance music with a spontaneous edge, despite the mountains of technology. An addicting song in its standard version. Great remixes are offered by the likes of Negative Format and Dj Delobbo who each take the song into further deep trance territories. Diskonnekted and Dunkelwerk each push the song to more hostile territory, while Razed in Black and Rotersand each work their own signature characteristics into the mix. With the limited nature of this release, these may be long gone, but keep you eyes and ears open for this band.</> <>
05.  Apoptygma Berzerk – Harmonizer DVD/Unicorn
Finally the long awaited "Unicorn" EP.  This was supposed to be released soon after the complete shit album Harmonizer.  Got to hand it to Apop for making a single that restores my faith in them a little.  There are several new versions of "Unicorn" as well as an ok cover of The Cure's "A Strange Day," and a brand new Apoptygma Berzerk song. Most notable and most upbeat remix of Unicorn comes from T.O.Y who turn it into an electro stomper. The most out of character remix comes from Hocico who try desperately to take a fluff pop song and turn it into something evil, I’m still scratching my head on that one. Other mixes come from Groths own Fairlight Children (electroclash in sound) and the retro synth sounding Freezepop. A DJ has his choice of varied styles with this release. They really made this song standout again.  "The Making Of Harmonizer" DVD makes for a nice all-encompassing package but the single should have been released on it’s own.
04. Seabound w/ Pride and Fall – Beyond Flatline Tour EP
A split release from the Beyond Flatline Tour 2004.  Seabound offers 2 tracks  “Watching Over You”  (Beacon In The Night mix ) and “Floating”  ( feat. Andrew Sega ) and while I love the newer version of “Watching” it’s “Floating” that demands to be heard.  The first time I got this I must have played it 5 times or more on repeat.  This is Seabound at their absolute emotional best. A mid-tempo dance track with deep lyrics. The lyrics according to lead singer “A blend of many personal things and they mean a lot to me. Part of them is inspired by virtual trips into my past… re-live all the details I remember. At the time when I wrote Floating, I felt that I had changed for the worse and I had the strong wish to go back. Parts of the lyrics are inspired by the Chinese Yue Lann Festival. For one long lunar month during the Hungry Ghost Festival, ghosts are said to roam the earth…A third source for the lyrics to "Floating" was Stephen King's "IT" in which a malevolent clown lures children into the underworld. The line "We are (all) floating here" is from that book.”  If you hear one song this year make this one it.
Pride and Fall’s first track “Angel” is VNV-inspired futurepop yet the usually whisper-like vocals take on a more sinister-tone which is a welcome change. Pride and Fall also deliver a newer mix of “December”. This version is far superior improvement to the original mix as it starts slow and builds in intensity continuing to accelerate through the chorus and onto the end.  The original version took forever to get going and slowed to a crawl halfway through and eventually faded out.  This is sure to be a collector’s item and well worth the hunt to find it.</><>
03. State of the Union – Timerunner
The first single from State of the Union's album
Inpendum
just exploded.  I remember the first time dropping this at the club and usually the floor half clears for new stuff, but nobody left and even more came out to dance. I’ve never seen a new song work so well. This is full on euro-flavored futurepop dance like VNV Nation or Covenants “Call the Ships to Port” with shimmering arpeggios, catchy hooks (both synth wise and lyrically) and furious drums. This served as a perfect teaser to the full-length
02. Suicide Commando – Cause of Death: Suicide/One Nation Under God
</>
4 years ago, Johan Van Roy talked of ending SC, good thing he didn’t cause from 2000 until now the Belgian has released some of his most captivating work. Cause of Death: Suicide continues his abusive songwriting. Like Hellraiser and Face of Death earlier, the music continues the traditions of strong melody over strong abrasive beats. Heard in clubs everywhere this year (and luckily for me live at Infest) this one certainly was stunning. Great remixes from Fiendflug, Converter, Hocico, Grendal, Wumpscut and A23 only makes this more appealing.
01. Synapse & Seizure - Enzyme K7-5 Synapse & Seizure produce their music separately, but these two artist from the Hague decided to present themselves as a team on this release. First things first - this is a release without real melodies, but the sounds and effects make sure the tracks are interesting from the beginning until the end.  Synapse’s track “Renoised Sine” features a kick that’s incredibly very low and rough. It will blow you away! The sounds and effects in this track are great. Closest comparison would be that of say maybe Converter, but even Converter sounds weak after hearing this (and I LOVE Converter) The drive in the track is cool and will keep you dancing all the time. Seizure’s “Pneumatic Transmission” is also a dark track, again with a straight in your face kick! Distorted percussion sounds, cool rumbling bass effects and the relentless kick you’ll feel instantly. The track just keeps on going and going.  This release is a severe beating… So how come I’ve never played this out at the clubs?!  Let’s just say the close-minded sheep are nowhere near ready for this quite yet.
Top 5 compilations of 2004
05. Septic Vol. 4
Mostly pale in comparison to the other 3 compilations prior. This might be due to Dependents loss of heavy hitters like VNV and Covenant and stupidly dropping Ivory Frequency.  The German labels focus now has shifted to introducing newer acts and picking up scraps from labels who have gone under and bands looking for new contracts. Septic 4 did have some strong tracks however such as Blame (brilliant smooth elektro-trance) and Standeg (new project of ex-haujobb musician).  Some exclusive remixes are to be found like This Morn' Omina "One Eyed Man" (Kill The Daemon), Seabound "Transformer" (Antiseptic RMX), and Pride and Fall "Omniscient" (Remix). Where’s Suicide Commando however???<>  04. Infacted Vol. 1</>
90% totally new material including exclusive new tracks and remixes from a label to keep your eye on! Offered at a cheap price as well. AND a 12-page booklet introducing the bands and their releases. Great tracks from NamNamBulu, Endanger and State of the Union.  Fans get to hear the new harsher direction of Glis and get an introduction to great new acts such as Frozen Plazma and Heimataerde. <>
03.  Cryonica Tanz Vol 3
The third release in the Cryonica Tanz series is a double CD collection that includes 30 unique tracks from thirty unique electro bands.  A wide range of styles from futurepop (Matrix - Senseless Game, Mono Chrome - Riveted ( Seize mix)) to harsh elektro (Dunkelwerk - Die Sechste Armee ( club is a battlefield cut ), Solitary Experiments - Watching Over You ( cut off )) into noise (Terrorfakt - Like Bricks And Thunder), some elektro-trance stylings  (Swarf – Subtext, Seize - Unbreakable ( broken mix )) and finally some old-school inspired material (Oil 10 - Le Bar ( happy hour mix ), Spetsnaz - To The Core ( Extended 2.0 ).  Showcasing the variety of the scenes many musical styles there’s something for everyone on Cryonica Tanz 3</>
02.  Re;Connected – Alfa Matrix A special deluxe digipak double CD featuring ALL EXCLUSIVE and previously UNRELEASED material from ALL artists on the 3 year old Alfa Matrix Label. Big names and bigger new comers are featured here. Front 242 and related side projects Male or Female, Under Viewer ( a brand new song of P. Codenys and JL De Meyer's side project ) and Daniel B's solo-effort Prothese are represented well.  Dive also appears as well as the classic older ebm-industro acts Insekt and A;GRUMH.  A new mix of Bruderschafts - Forever ( Virtual Embrace mix ) is included and is certainly one of the best mixes of the abundance of that track. Regenerator, Collide, Nebula-H, Ayria, Hungry Lucy and more are all present. Even recently signed new artist like Unter Null and Agonised by Love aren’t left out (Thank goodness cause Unter Null is a must hear!!!) Most appealing about this compilation is the VERY wide variety of musical styles presented from power noise to EBM through harsh electro, synthpop, dark trip hop, and Industrial dance. One style doesn’t over dominate another.  Each track you can instantly become addicted to.  While Wax Trax became synonymous with the early industrial and ebm scene, Alfa Matrix is becoming a quick label entity of epic proportions as well.
<> 01.  Machineries of Joy Vol. 3
2 disc set featuring 32 completely new, exclusively remixed and original tracks only to be found on this collection.  Spotlighting the ever growing and consistently outstanding mainly harsh-elektro OutOfLine label, listeners will find big names like Decoded Feedback, Hocico, Icon Of Coil, Angels & Agony, Amduscia, BlutEngel, Terminal Choice, God Module, Accessory, Haujobb and CombiChrist right next to the newer breed of next big things like Analogue Brain, Destroid, Aesthetic Perfection, Soman, The Horrorist and UnterART. So much to explore on this disc.</>
Expecting more for 2004
<>
Skinny Puppy – Greater Wrong of the Right
From an earlier review of mine: Quite truthfully after two listens it has failed to leave any impression on me. Technically the CD sounds amazing but it lacks the innovation and elements that made Puppy so influential. Maybe it's because it's been eight years, maybe it's in part due to Dwayne Goettels absence, maybe it's because Ogre isn't destroying himself with drugs or maybe it's because every directionless industrial band has copied the bands style since, but I really expected MUCH more from all the hype that has surrounded this release. Hardly innovative and hardly ground breaking like past releases and not that that is the only criteria for a outstanding CD, but there is not even a single song that has something that captures my attention making me want to go back for a repeated listen. I can list five other recent releases that would be a better investment: Pneumatic Detach - "Pareses Re:infected" , This Morn' Omina - "Le Serpent Blanc, Le Serpent Rouge", Yelworc - Trinity (after a 10 year(!) absence a band influenced by Puppy releases a BETTER album than Puppy!), Pzychobitch - The Day Before / The Day After, [SITD] – Stronghold.  Sure, without Puppy some of those bands wouldn't exist, but these bands are using the things Puppy was SOLELY responsible for implementing and carrying the horror-tech sound further where I REALLY would have expected Puppy to be more pioneering on this release. I figured some of the side-projects would have provided a testing ground for what works and what doesn't.
Still love Skinny Puppy, seen them many times in concert and would not hesitate a minute to see them again. Their catalog still holds some of the best industrial songs ever, but the expected Skinny Puppy intensity on "The Greater Wrong Of The Right" just isn't there for me. Earlier albums served as great representations of what Skinny Puppy stood for, but this new CD plays more like a compromise of artistic differences, which should have been resolved in the different side-projects (which also had very little in common).
</> <>
Die Warzau – Convenience</>
Very excited that one of my all-time favorites let by bygones be bygones and reformed this year. It’s been 9 years since the last Die Warzau release “Engine”.  I really wanted and expected this CD to welcome back the band to the forefront of the scene, but the bottom line is this release just falls short.  Their wide range of influences (everything from Beatles like pop to world music) just seems to miss the mark, like they’ve been completely removed from what’s taken place in the areas of industrial rock for all those years. Some of this sounds straight up alterna-teen-rock like the fodder you’d hear overplayed on ‘new music now’ radio. With the earlier “All Good Girls” song, DW did catch a brief moment of radio stardom – do they want more now? To their credit, Die Warzau have the unique ability to foresee oncoming musical trends or simply redefine existing ones, but Convenience really gave me no reference to where they’re headed. Each track seems to play like Die Warzau mocking today’s musical trends with “yeah we can do that to” and my constructive criticism of that is it comes across as less creative for a band that can usually blow the doors off a studio anytime.  Perhaps repeated listens will warm me up and unearth what I’ve overlooked with this release, nevertheless glad they are back as they can and will release more good music. Let’s hope for a tour soon.
Startling Revelation of 2004
Virtual Embrace
Blasting right out of the underground this year!  VIRTUAL><EMBRACE is the devilish solo-assault of Mike Johnson (member of Sero.Overdose, Agonoize, Infekktion...).  The guy was everywhere with killer mixes for artist like Bruderschaft, Stark, Aiboforcen, XP8, and more…ALWAYS extremely aggressive and offering no compromise for club potential.  Anything this guy put his imprint on seemed to find its way into my set list or CD decks.
Comeback of the Year award 2004
Yelworc – Trinity Who would have guessed that one of the early developers of dark-horror-elektro would return with a killer disc (in my eyes outdoing even Skinny Puppy’s latest)  Absolutely sinister!
<>Portion Control – Well Come
The legends that influenced Skinny Puppy, FLA, Blixa Bargeld and even opened for Depeche Mode on the Some Great Reward tour return to influential status with an album setting new trends yet again.  Always forward thinking and constantly progressing.</> <>
Flesh Field – Strain
An act that sadly got caught in the demise of a once great label (Inception) returns totally rejuvenated. Huge string stabs, clever drum programming and (GASP!) guitar make for a great release. Released in late November, sadly I haven’t had more time to let the fervor of this release sink in in such short time.</>
Best Retrospective release of 2004
Klinik – Klinik
Released 15 years ago as a box set (of which I own the vinyl version) this has finally been re-released.  The tracks intentionally sound as they did then – no re-mastering here, just the cold, slow, dark and minimal creepy electronics the Klinik is known for. It may sound retro to some but keep in mind Klinik are legends that influenced everyone else who has since mimicked their sound.
Bands to watch in 2005
UV  - Ohio based harsh elektro artist signed to BLC productions this year and are full of motivation and ideas!
Shnarph ! – The lead singer of Plastic goes more aggressive and noise-like
Der Arbeiter - MIlitarypop.  Think Laibach/Fiendflug-like marches with some BPM’s for the dance floor.
Unter Null – Music as harsh as Tactical Sekt, fronted by a female who’ll prove the harsh-elektro scene is not just dominated by boys’ noise.

Okay here is my official rant post about My Engineer, specifically the finale. Spoiler: I literally have zero criticism for it so it’s just gonna be me gushing about how perfect it was, and analyzing some things. (I save the best analysis, RamKing, for last)
I’ve mentioned this before, but as a whole this series was so good I think for just how well put together it was. All the couples got pretty equal or at least well distributed screen time. And for couples who got less (Like TharaFrong) I assume they’re keeping it open for season two. You couldn't really get bored watching because it always flowed so well into the next scene, and all the couples were really great and special for their own reasons. Plus the character development was great and I know it’s gonna get even better in season two.
Now I want to go in and talk about all the couples:
BohnDuen
Throughout the airing of this series, I saw many people having doubts about BohnDuen. I saw many good points such as how they were reallly bad at communicating, Duen never tried to understand Bohn’s feelings, and Bohn was always too pushy about things. However as the series progressed we could see them slowly evolving and becoming better. Obviously even at the end, they still have problems but they’ve improved so much and I know that in Season two they will continue to progress. For Bohn, he started out super jealous. He was always really pushy towards Duen. Towards the middle he finally started to become better, keeping his jealousy more in check and pulling back a little. For Duen, who kept ignoring Duen’s feelings, he finally started trying to see things from Bohn’s point of view. He opened up a little more and even changed their relationship status on Facebook, something he knew would mean a lot to Bohn. For both of them, recognizing their flaws was hard but they wanted to be better for each other. Also in the finale, we got Duen finally telling Bohn he loves him. That was a really big deal for Duen who honestly is pretty shy. This is his first relationship. He’s not used to someone being jealous over him, someone thinking he’s cute. Physical affection was also something that came hard to Duen, but as seen by the finale (*sobs*) he’s evolving in that regard as well, even initiating a kiss himself.
Tumblr media
I really liked too, how before the second kiss when Duen put up his hand to block him, how Bohn kissed him through his hand (twiceeee). Bohn accepted that maybe Duen wasn’t ready for a second kiss yet, and let Duen make the choice. Even when Duen lowered his hand he let him make the choice, which he did and initiated that second kiss. <3 I think these two putting in so much effort for each other and developing so much as a couple, and as individuals indicates a really great future ahead for them.
MekBoss
Okay I’ll be real, I may have doubted Boss for just a tiny second. I heard a rumor they were gonna have an unhappy ending so when Fon (Is that her name? I’m too lazy to look it up) showed up I got scared. But omg Bossss!!!! He handled it so well. He was so sweet to Fon, and that hug honestly made me cry a little. I was really happy that he told her she shouldn’t give up becoming an idol too. It wouldn’t have been right for her to have to give up her dream for Boss. (It was really sweet that she was willing though) And then when he went back to Mek and revealed their relationship with that megaphone? A cinematic masterpiece. For Mek, who had spent so long hiding his feelings for Boss, Boss clearly stating that they are together and that he loves him in front of everyone would have been such a cathartic release for Mek. For Boss too, who had also had feelings for him tucked away.
Tumblr media
In that moment Boss was choosing Mek 100% without a doubt. All the time they had spent together, the way Mek always helped and took care of Boss. He was fully realizing that he wanted Mek and only Mek. They spent so long being so close but so far from each other. That moment was a new start for them, a real start.  lmao and Ting’s reaction will never not be the funniest thing ever: “What the hell? Did I join a volunteer camp of a love camp here?!”
TharaFrong
Agdhh poor Frong lmao. I had a feeling nothing major would happen with them in the finale since they were moving slower than the others. Frong, after getting over his feelings for Duen so quickly falling for someone else, Thara, would be really hard. After experiencing Duen’s rejection (sort of, Duen was so clueless during that smh) putting himself out there again would be really hard. But he started falling for Thara anyways, falling for the way he took care of his patients (specifically Frong’s mom), the kindness he so naturally gives to others (such as searching for Thara’s necklace, and the weirder aspects of his personality (such as a certain adorable lizard he can’t seem to stop talking about).
Tumblr media
I don’t really see Thara’s line as friend/brother zoning him. More as I feel that he hasn’t considered Frong in that way yet (although him taking pictures of him shirtless was a bit suspicious lmao) and I think in season two we’ll see him develop feelings as well. (I’m kinda hoping for them to be a lil angsty ngl)
Okay. Here it is. RAMKING.
They 100% had THE best buildup, and plot. The way they met, the slow transformation into friendship, people around them either shipping them or thinking they were a couple, it was all so !!! It was perfect too, because they had us so convinced that King was gay panicking, and pushing Ram away because he didn’t understand what he was felling BUT NO he knew EXACTLY how he felt, and he’d just been holding himself back this whole time. I can’t get over that. All those flashbacks they showed, King knew exactly what he was feeling and it was overwhelming that he finally couldn’t take it anymore. I think when Ram made him that crown, and their friends commented that they looked cute together, like a couple.. I think that’s when King really started to realize he couldn’t do it any more. While Ram was smiling, King had a different look.
He seemed to be under the impression Ram didn’t feel the same, or maybe he was hesitating because of all the stress that Ram has been under with his dad. I think it was the former though. His face when Ram put his arm around him in episode 13 was so unsure. I originally took it to mean that he didn’t understand what he was feeling, but now I’m thinking it was because he couldn’t understand why Ram was doing that. It’s like he was torn between his feelings, and his uncertainty of Ram’s feelings. He had no way of knowing for sure if Ram had feelings (although at the point, the way Ram looked at him and took care of him it would have been hard to miss, but when your emotions for someone are so strong it’s hard to see things from a clear perspective. Does it seem like they feel the same because you want to? Or because they really do?) For King, who understands Ram so well, not being able to tell how he was feeling was terrifying, and having to hold himself back was painful (as he said himself *sobs*) As for Ram, I think he also knew full well what his feelings were, and also didn’t know how King felt. He was happy just staying by his side, as a friend taking care of him. King suddenly pulling away was confusing for Ram. It hurt him to be away from him, but he was patient and waited for King to tell him why he was acting the way he was. King had always been so understanding with Ram’s emotions, and Ram wanted to do the same. While they were apart, I noticed how during BohnDuen’s reunion and MekBoss’ confession they focused on King’s reaction. He was happy for his friends, but I saw another emotion in his expression. One that reflected the conflict and pain he was feeling over his emotions for Ram.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way he went from smiling, to that face was soo good. That one little moment was a big indicator of what was going on in King’s head and the pain he was currently feeling.
Then, finally (it might have helped that he was a little drunk) King admitted to everything he’d been feeling. That he was pushing him away because he feels good with him, and it was painful to hold back around him all the time. And we all know what happened next (*Sobbing noises*) They finally released all those emotions they’d been holding in, the pull they’d felt for each other since day one, the unexplainably deep understanding they have for each other. It all came together. Okay but that kiss was so !!!! Like the !!! the foreheads!!! The closed eyes!!! It was all passion, emotion it was so aHHH
Tumblr media
Then the way they were lying the next morning (also may or may not be my new computer wallpaper oops) was so !! They’re turned in towards each other, King’s arm lying against Ram’s chest, his head tucker into him. I thought that position did a great job of reflecting them as a couple. The way they kept being drawn to each other. Also, after King woke up and the way he so quickly believed that Ram had forgotten what had happened last night, made me even more certain that King is scared and uncertain of Ram’s feelings. They both obviously have feelings for each other, it’s now just a matter of figuring out how to express them to each other. (Although who knows what complications Season 2 could throw at them)
Okay So I lied, I do have a very small criticism: I didn’t like that Bohn pulled the “I don’t like men, I just like you” line. That always bugs me. In BL there’s always a fine between a series being genuinely good and romantic and a series being focused on mainly fan service. I’ve always seen that line as a sign that a series is gonna be kinda fan service-y. However, My Engineer was not at all like that. It was definitely one of the good ones (one of the best honestly) so in this case that line wasn’t a bad sign. Still, I wish that hadn’t been included. Also, we deserved more Cupcake content and we better get some in season two. I want to see Thara baby his lizard some more god dammnit.
Also this is random but I really hope they give Ting a man in S2. She deserves it. (Or a girlfriend in which case I volunteer I love her so much)
This was a really massive post and if you read this entire thing I would like to give you a virtual hug. Have a good day!! <3 I’m gonna go back to sobbing and replaying the episode now

I haven’t read Drarry in more than a year, and yet, today, a masterpiece sprung right in front of my eyes, bit by bit, taking shape in all its hilarious unadulterated glory.
I herby present you, a new ficlet by unadulteratedstorycollector :
Title: Pick Me Up  G,1313 words
Summary: Draco loses the bones in his legs. Harry is unsympathetic
Tags: Auror Harry Potter, Auror Draco Malfoy, Auror Partners, Crack, One long joke, actually, a series of jokes about having no bones, in your legs
Excerpt:
“Fuck off,” Draco growls. He looks like he might be crying, which Harry can forgive because his bones have just been shattered and then vanished. Harry would be crying too. Before Harry can move, not that he was planning on doing so, Draco is dragging himself along the floor again. His wand is between his teeth, and he’s muttering something to himself.
He gets about a foot down the road when Harry starts to follow him.
“Do you need me to carry you?” he asks, sidestepping quickly before Draco can swing for his junk.
“Don’t fucking touch me,” Draco says around his wand. Harry holds up his hands before shoving them into his pockets. He strolls slowly down the road next to his partner, enjoying the spring evening, and pointedly ignoring the scrape and shuffle of Draco dragging his lifeless legs along the floor. It rained today. Lots of nice puddles along the street.
After ten minutes of walking excruciatingly slowly, Harry gets bored. He looks down to a sweaty, angry Draco and takes his own life into his hands. “How about I grab your arms and just drag you along the floor? It might be quicker.”

Thursday 6/5/21: Masters of Musical Mashups
I do not consider myself a musically minded person, but I feel I enjoy music as a past time more than the average joe. When I engage with audio entertainment, I do so with my soul, to the point where songs I have nostalgia for can move me to tears.
Tumblr media
Sorry for using K-On for mood-setting imagery again, but its a cute and fun aesthetic.
But before I meander too much off-topic, today's on-topic is specifically about music derived from existing media. Parody is the immediate word that comes to mind, but the type of derivative musical masterpieces I wanna highlight in this blog post goes a bit deeper than that.
The internet is an amazing place (maybe I should retitle this blog series to that string of words), and I've been exposed to many smaller or otherwise hidden musical talents that I would not have encountered in everyday life. Today let's discuss two musical talents from YouTube who have made it their mission to incinerate existing music in a grand inferno, and rebirth a new sound, like a radiant phoenix. The masters of mashups.
High Quality Videogame Rips: SiIvaGunner
Tumblr media
SiIvaGunner (spelt s-i-i-v-a-g-u-n-n-e-r) is a videogame OST ripping channel. It owes it name to fellow videogame rip channel GilvaSunner, (g-i-l-v-a-s-u-n-n-e-r), who in turn pays homage to original videogame ripping channel Silvagunner (s-i-l-v-a-g-u-n-n-e-r).
Confusing names aside, the purpose of a videogame rip channel is to provide audio acquired directly from a videogame's files in order to fully enjoy the original soundtrack (OST) in its purest form. There are hundreds of such channels on YouTube, but SiIvaGunner has been set apart from the rest by the specific ripping skillset of its community. Take a listen to this:
youtube
SiIvaGunner songs are a fun bait-and-switch type entertainment, where the bit usually involves using the thumbnail and title of a video game song, but the artist has used the sound font of that game to construct a completely different tune.
A lot of the time, this is as simple as using a Mario soundfont to play notes of a TV show theme (as above), but sometimes, it can go further. Many of SiIvaGunner's most popular hits involve just straight remixes of mainstream music mashed up with videogame tunes.
youtube
And sometimes, the musician will go one more step, and sentence mix lyrics from the videogame song or mainstream song to make a song of entirely new meaning.
youtube
SiIvaGunner is not one artist, there is an entire community of musical artists who contribute their pieces to this channel. The channel uploads often double digits of videos daily, so if I've intrigued you at all, please check the channel out!
A World of Mouth: Neil Cicierega
Tumblr media
Neil Cicierega is an internet legend. He has been creating online entertainment for almost two decades. Particularly credits include his Potter Puppet Pals series, and his own original music under the name "Lemon Demon", with works such as The Ultimate Showdown and Two Trucks.
youtube
Given his aptitude in comedy and musical talent, it is not surprising that Neil jumped into the parody/remixing scene. But whereas other parody artists and remixers simply created their own altered versions of popular music, Neil Cicierega created something on entire other level.
Neil has recently released his fourth album in the Mouth series, a collection of mashup music that transforms popular mainstream music into something new and fantastic. Neil will take the vocals from one song and transplant it into the instrumentals of another song. Often this contrast is used for comedic effect, but in my opinion, many of the songs he's remixed sound catchier and more fun than the originals.
youtube
The namesake of his series, Smash Mouth, feature heavily in a number of his songs. Given the meme-able nature of Smash Mouth, thanks to Shrek, the Mouth series is known across the internet for its fun parodic nature.
Smash Mouth is far from the only source Neil Cicierega uses. Source music is taken from all genres of popular 20th and 21st century hits. Neil has a musical ear where he can perfectly match any lyrics with their instrumental soulmate. The pairing needn't be songs of the same genre however, and some of his most fun music comes from combining music from polar opposite genres.
youtube
Using the vocals from AC/DC's Back in Black with the instruments from Vanessa Carlton's A Thousand Miles sounds like a pair that shouldn't work. But Neil knows his rhythm and it goes off. And while Neil is a master of putting hard-ass lyrics to a softer song, that doesn't mean he can't go in the other direction. Below is Spongerock, a mashup of the Spongebob theme song and Queen's We Will Rock You.
youtube
Some of Neil's remixes aren't mashups at all, but rather a transformation of a song into something silly, bizarre and barely recognisable from the original. The prime example being Bustin.
youtube
Neil Cicierega posts his original music on Spotify, and his Mouth series can be found on his Soundcloud. Fans have uploaded most of the Mouth series to Youtube, and if you have a spare few hours (or want to consume it over a few days), a fan has compiled all of his albums into one long video, The Mouth Experience:
youtube
I've given my readers plenty of good music to listen to today, so if you do enjoy yourselves or have already experienced these musical geniuses before, be sure to let me know and spread the word.

elle’s self rec list
So I did one of those about two years ago and I decided why not do another one! Some fics from the old one will probably be repeated here, but who cares, it’s my list, I get to make the rules :D
There's Something About Us - T, Hartwin, Merlin/Roxy, Percilot, AU,  Words: 49,369
Roxy had her eyes closed, twirling her drum sticks expertly but unnecessarily between beats, unbothered by the strands of brown hair that had gotten loose from her ponytail. Merlin had shuffled closer to her drumset, as he often did, his feet keeping her rhythm, eyes closed as if in concentration. Percival was half hunched over his keyboard, looking at the crowd without seeing it, his voice having taken that far-away edge that only added to the ethereal of their song.
Without shame, he started swaying to their music, letting it wash over everything else so that only their harmony stayed.
In which Eggsy, Roxy, Merlin and Percival are a famous alien music band, Harry is a hero of the Galactic Patrol and Valentine and Gazelle are evil humans.
This one is my longest fic to date and quite frankly, I am insanely proud of it. It’s heavily based on the Interstella 5555 movie Daft Punk did for their Discovery album, but you don’t need to be familiar with it to read this. It took me four years to finish this and probably closer to five years to write it all since I started writing a while before I started posted it. But oh man, am I proud of this story.
Of Flowers, Thunderstorm and Tranquility - M, Hartwin, AU,  Words: 9,702
The fresh snow crinkles satisfyingly under his feet as Harry slowly makes his rounds of his part of the Forest. He is seconds away from humming when a whimpering sound from a bush nearby gives him pause.
Harry carefully makes his way towards the sound, on his guard. He gasps in surprise when he parts the foliage. He doesn’t know what he expected, but one thing is certain, it wasn’t the unconscious Summer Child curled up around himself.
This one is quite probably the one I will forever think as my masterpiece. The idea pounced on me and wouldn’t let me go until I had written it all. It is also on of the very few stories I ever wrote that goes higher than a T rating.
of flowers and fireflies - cowritten by @insanereddragon - M, Merwin, AU,  Words: 43,882
“You're trying to tell me that you're my dog?”
“Well, yes. Though I’d rather you say familiar if you don’t mind.”
“That’s… That’s impossible. The spell didn’t work.”
--
Eggsy is a familiar. For many human lifetimes, familiars live waiting for a call from one of the populations magic users. During their time of waiting, they seek out magical sanctuaries for their kind. Eggsy and Lee are on their way to one such place when tragedy strikes, and only Eggsy makes it to his new home at the Hart estate sanctuary.
Merlin is a magic user. After the death of his family, Merlin is taken in by the Hart family on their estate. It’s there, growing up beside Harry, that he first learns of his magical abilities and struggles with growing up without the support of a magical family.
Even though their paths cross while growing up on the estate, it isn’t until many years later when Merlin performs a summoning for a familiar that they connect. A friendship grows to something more while the two learn to navigate their newly formed bond.
So there are two reasons why I absolutely love this story/verse. The first one is that I got to write it with Red. Back then when we decided that ‘hey, we only need 10k for a mini bang, let’s do this, 5k each will be a walk in the park’ we were just starting our friendship. Fastforward a few years later and I can’t envision my life with Red in it. Also we were very dumb and both have no chill because the easy 10k mini-bang we thought this story would be ended up being  a 43k proper big bang
Only love can hurt like this - T, Eggsy/Tilde, Hartwin, Eggsy/Harry/Tilde,  Words: 8,001
He’s not stupid, his life isn’t a fairy tale, he’s not going to marry the princess now that he’s saved the world. Heck, if his life was a fairy tale, he would rather be the princess marrying the Knight.
Harry is dead, Eggsy has picked up his mantle as a spy and Tilde doing her job as a princess and helping to lead her country in the trying times after V-Day. But even busy as they are, Tilde and Eggsy both kept in contact and what develops between them is more than simple friendship.
All in all, life isn't that bad.
Except Harry isn't as dead as they all thought he was.
I started writing this before the sequel was out and my only regret is that the movie treated Tilde’s character do terribly. There are so many different ways they could have handled it so that Tilde would still end up being Eggsy’s motivation for really wanting the antidote and well... They really didn’t go that way, did they? Anyone, concerning Tilde, I am mostly in fanon-land where it concerns her or whatever @solrosan comes up with because Rosa is an amazing writer and one of the very few I will accept angst from. But I digress. Consider this as a fix-it that instead of ignoring Tilde completely, goes the route I prefer when I see love triangle and transforms the situation into a healthy triad. Because I can.
I Get a Little Bit… - G, Merlahad, Ghenghis Khan video AU, Words: 6,062
Merlin is putting his two children to bed when his phone starts ringing with a too familiar alert. He curses under his breath, thankful that Roxy is already fast asleep and won’t reprimand him on his language.
Or the Genghis Khan Merlahad au everyone wanted but nobody was writing.
The summary is pretty self-explanatory here I think.
Nous n’avons rien à faire, rien que d’être heureux  - T, Merlahad, Merhartwin, AU,  Words: 5,982
“Harry, Merlin, I present you the first gift of my courtship. It is my intent, if you accept, to show you that I can not only provide for you a home and protection, but cherish you.”
Harry and Merlin have been in a relationship for decades. Many a siren have proposed them over the years, but Eggsy is the first one they're willing to give a chance.
And Eggsy isn't about to let it go to waste.
So I was insanely lucky during the last reverse-bang and managed to lay claim on a couple of @paxdracona artwork (I love Pax and all of her art too, it’s so inspiring and wonderful and gorgeous and yeah, go stare at it you won’t regret it). This story is what I came up with for it and I must say I am quite proud of it. Who doesn’t love a good courting fic after all?
Don’t be scared of what you don’t already know - G, Hartwin, AU,  Words: 14,601
“I wouldn’t mind the company for one more day.” Harry smiles sheepishly and Eggsy spies a glimmer of something raw in his warm brown eye.
It’s all he needed to be convinced. It’s not really selfish if he suspects Harry is just lonely as he is, right?
“Okay, yeah. I can totally wait another day.”
After he's been chased out of his commune by his dick stepfather, a surprisingly kind dragon invites Eggsy to stay at his place for the night. Or well, it's supposed to be just for one night, but Harry doesn't seem to mind when Eggsy's stay keeps getting longer and longer.
That’s one of the other reverse-bang I wrote and the other artwork I got to claim from @paxdracona which made me insanely happy at the time because well, I had already written a few ficlets about her dragon!Harry and magpie!Eggsy and I really wanted to write a longer one.
Room for Three (Not Only You and Me) - G, Merhartwin, Words: 6,797
The first time it happens Merlin honestly doesn’t know.
Though, in Merlin’s defense there is nothing indicating that this is any different than usual.
Wherein Merlin date-crashes Harry and Eggsy’s dates without realising it at first. Except, when Merlin tries to give them some space, they don’t seem to be happy about it.
Writing oblivious characters is always fun especially when you wouldn’t expect this character to be so clueless most of the time. Also, well this is the fic that made me meet Red so of course Imma forever recs this.
Stay - T, Hartwin,  Words: 2,765
They nearly walk by without seeing the other, the only reason they do in the end is because Eggsy has to suddenly sidestep a wandering child and would have tripped on his own feet if it wasn’t for the hand shooting out and righting him at the last moment.
He turns around to thank the stranger only to realise that a stranger the man is not, even if he’s barely recognizable from the last memory he has of him.
After Poppygeddon, Eggsy stayed a Kingsman agent but Harry decided it was time for him to retire. Which also meant going halfway across the world and cutting all ties with his previous life. They never thought they would meet again.
Of course they do.
I wrote this as a gift to @honey-bee-britt and while the series is still not completed, it can still be read as a stand-alone. I am so proud of this one fic too. It’s some of my best work I think.
If I only could make a deal with God -  T, Hartwin,  Words: 5,089
He's not even sure he wants to be a part of Kingsman anymore. The Knights might accept him now that he's saved the world from Valentine's madness, but there's only one position to fill. And he doesn't know how to feel about taking up Galahad’s mantle. Not sure how he feels about replacing Harry.
The night after Harry has been killed by Valentine and Eggsy has saved the world from the madman, a familiar fox appears to him and leads him to the Underworld.
If luck is on his side, Eggsy might just sway the God of Death into returning Harry's soul to the living.
Who wants a Hartwin retelling of the Orpheus and Eurydice legend? Because this is what it is. Because this is me and of course I will write as many mythology au or fics with mythology references that I possibly can.

Slots of the Jungle
Which type of treasure hunt are you most looking forward to, if that's the case. Allow Jungle Wild Slots to transport you to a period and location that has been forgotten by the passage of the years. The ruins of a long-forgotten civilization lie buried deep behind a lush forest, and a priceless treasure awaits you within its walls. For your convenience, there are numerous suggestions as to where this prize can be found in the game. This time, it's all up to you to track down the clues and understand the messages that will lead you to riches that far exceed your wildest dreams.
When it comes to slot machine games, WMS Gaming is known for creating amazing themed games, as proven by its masterpieces such as the Monopoly slots and the Men in Black slot machines. Those looking for a slot machine game that is on par with Zeus Slots or Palace of Riches will be pleased to know that the G+ Series of slots has everything they are looking for. The "Big Win" feature, which is a signature of G+ slot machine gambling titles, allows players to celebrate their large winnings by receiving free bonus spins as a reward. When you win a large sum of money, such as 100 or more coins, the message "Big Win" is displayed on the screen. The words "Big Win" are presented on the screen alongside visuals of coins bursting from an imaginary fountain, indicating a successful wager. A piece of music will be played through the machine's speakers throughout the "Big Win" countdown, which will signify how much money you've won. This commonly occurs following a large single-spin win or at the conclusion of the free spins round.
This video slot machine has five reels and twenty pay lines, which makes it known as the Jungle Wild slot machine. On this penny slot machine, you have the option of betting up to twenty coins per line if you so desire. As a result, the maximum amount of money you can wager on every particular spin is $4.00 per spin. Slot machine players appear to win only a small sum on practically every spin they make, according to the statistics. The free spins are one of the main reasons why people keep coming back to Jungle Wild Slots.
The pyramid represents the scatter symbol in Jungle Wild Slots. The free spins bonus may only be triggered if three or more pyramid symbols appear on the reels. During the course of the free spin games, it is possible to win additional free spins. This feature can be triggered in the same way that you were awarded your original bonus spins: by landing three or more pyramid symbols anywhere on the screen. During the free spins, two of the reels are transformed into wild symbols. Every symbol on the reels is replaced by a wild image, resulting in the full reel being transformed into a wild image. In the majority of circumstances, a random selection of wild reels is selected for each spin of the reels. As you can see, winning the free bonus spins might result in a substantial cash reward. During the free spins, you'll have the best fun possible.
You will discover a broad range of slot machines to choose from after you have entered the casino building. Jungle Wild Slots, on the other hand, are a personal favorite of mine. This particular slot machine has become a popular choice among a huge number of other slot machine gamers in recent years. Jungle Wild slot video machines have been spotted in Indian casinos, Las Vegas casinos, and even Harrah's New Orleans, to name a few locations. During the weekend, it is highly unusual that a Jungle Wild Slots machine will be vacant. To be completely honest, I can't recall ever having a big amount of money in my bank account after playing this particular slot machine. The opposite has been true with my wife, who has done so on a number of occasions. When you bet the maximum amount, you're more than likely to win $500 or less on the majority of your wagers.
Jungle Wild Slots players can win cash prizes by playing the game. I'd like to share some words of wisdom with you. After hitting a "big win" of $200 or more, we've discovered that the ideal technique is to cash out and find a different slot machine to play on. Professional sports are a very competitive environment, and victories of this size are quite rare. Many people who have won money at a slot machine have afterward expressed regret for not taking their winnings and cashing them in. When it comes to risk and bankroll management, it goes without saying that you'll choose a strategy that suits your needs.

FOMA 16: Romanian Coastland
FOMA goes back to Romania. Miruna Dunu is exploring the seaside architecture on the Romanian Black Sea coast. She is passionate about collecting postcards that brought her to the investigation of the complex case study of the socialist leisure facilities between 1960s and 1980s. Her Forgotten Masterpieces are revealing the vast political mechanism, the social discrimination and the hyper real narrative of the seaside holiday architecture, the forgotten promised paradise.
Tumblr media

Historically a privilege of the aristocracy, leisure only became accessible to the masses in the 20th Century. In the particular case of seaside leisure, it was a gradual process that combined ideological aspects on the one hand, such as health pursuits and the creation of the modern man, and more practical considerations on the other hand, like the new work patterns imposed by the Industrial Revolution. Furthermore, with a working class already on the rise before WW2, state policies for paid workers’ holidays drove leisure and its associated architecture one step further.
Making no exception to the established trends, the basis of the Romanian seaside leisure was laid with the emergence of the first treatment facilities in the late 19th Century. In the early 1900s, the first beach cabins appear together with a wooden pavilion of Victorian inspiration, in the old fisherman’s village of Mamaia.

The inter-war period marked a significant increase in the emergence of seaside facilities. Once reserved for the wealthy few or merely a contemplative retreat for romantic flâneurs, the coastal area became a popular destination for fashionable activities like water sports and sun-bathing. The architecture would reflect the novel lifestyle, turning into a breeding ground for spatial experiments and typologies that would hardly belong to the urban setting.
Despite the gradual and relative democratisation of the seaside developments, the aristocracy’s traditional access to the coastal retreat facilities remained prominent, especially in the 1920s. A notable architectural addition of the time is the Royal Palace of Mamaia, completed in 1926. Commissioned by the Romanian royal family, the Neo-Romanian style villa situated in the proximity of the beach is designed by Italian architect Mario Stoppa and consists of lower horizontal volumes with terraces and a watchtower as the main vertical element. The design cleverly combines vernacular elements and textures with the latest technological developments of the time, such as central heating and air conditioning. Unlike the cubist buildings that would become increasingly popular on the coast, the Royal Palace of Mamaia pays homage to the local traditions of the building crafts, exploring the specific architectural expressions of the area.

With the concept of free time on the rise, it wasn’t long before radical spatial experiments appeared on the seaside, driven by both the trends of the latest architectural discourse and the necessities of the new leisure activities. Modernist villas displaying pure geometric structures, unconventionally-shaped bungalows and steamboat-like hotels radically transformed the urban fabric of the resorts, equally reflecting the architects’ and the public’s interest in the contemporary European tendencies. The rising number of tourists stimulated further investments in the seaside’s infrastructure and development. The mid-1930s saw the inauguration of an Art Deco style Casino right at the heart of Mamaia resort. Designed by architect Victor G. Ștephănescu, the building was hosting a restaurant, a dancehall, shops, a police office, telephone booths and the manager’s private suite. Additional beach cabins and a concrete pier with slides, two wharfs for small boats and a terrace-bar at its very end completed the ensemble. The Mamaia Casino complex readily became one of the main attractions on the Romanian coast, hosting thousands of local and foreign visitors each year.

The abrupt transition to communism in the post-war period brought a fundamentally different approach to leisure policies, thus pushing the spatial production in a different direction. Implemented in two stages, the socialist seaside project drove beach tourism to an unprecedented scale.
Tumblr media
The vibrant atmosphere on the terrace of the restaurant club Neon in 1957. | Postcard author’s collection, unknown photographer, 1963
The first phase, spanning from 1955 to 1965, focused on leisure as a hygienic retreat, the spatial production consequently reflecting this through the low-rise hotels and spas. Following the international trends, the buildings integrate a functionalist modernist aesthetic achieved through the use of glass, concrete and steel. A notable level of architectural experimentation was involved in the design of clubs and restaurants such as Neon. Elevated on elegant concrete pillars, the attention to detail is visible through the bespoke design of the balustrades, floor-tiling and concrete shell roof.
While the first phase intensified the construction of amenities in existing beach towns, the second phase of the seaside development consisted of erecting a series of resorts ex-nihilo. Fuelled by both the public success of the first stage and an extended political agenda aimed at attracting foreign tourists, the architecture and urban planning of the new resorts confidently incorporate the augmented scale.

The environmental impact of this massive intervention is not to be underplayed, with nature being shaped and enhanced in order to fit the ambitious vision of the architects. The cliffs were carved, a rich natural forest was in part cut down and artificial lakes completed a highly engineered landscape. However, architects strived to incorporate the natural features of the site into their designs. Although the resorts were in certain cases filled with standard boxy high- and low-rise hotels following the same blueprints, two developments stand out for their tailored response to the site conditions. The Amfiteatru-Belvedere-Panoramic ensemble integrates public spaces and other loisir amenities within the actual hotel buildings, merging vertical and horizontal circulation through a series of terraces and wide flights of stairs.
Tumblr media
Spectacular views from every angle of Amfiteatru-Belvedere-Panoramic. | Postcard from author’s collection, photo by Al. Florescu, 1974
The Aurora resort consists of a series of hotels with a distinctive silhouette that merges modernist pure geometric shapes with organic angulations and layouts that create semi-enclosed spaces filled with vegetation. The architects’ interest in the contemporary (western) discourse becomes apparent in these interventions and echoes Romania’s relative political openness of the early 1970’s. The construction pace slowed down with the last additions to the socialist coastal development made in the late 1970s. The austerity of the following decade entailed a significant cut down on the state funding for the seaside tourism. Today, a vast majority of the socialist buildings are still standing and largely operated, be them poorly maintained or carefully refurbished. However, the chaotic privatisation policies following the communist downfall resulted in a fragmented landscape that renders the modernist-inspiration layout almost illegible.
Tumblr media

Although benefitting from a superior architectural quality when compared to the mass housing developments across the country, the seaside project consistently acted as a microcosm reflecting though its spatiality the broader Romanian socio-political reality, from cultural experimentation and dictatorial control to turbulent transition to free-market economy. In this sense, it is a typical example of how an exceptional sample can paint a rather accurate picture of the whole, if looked at in all its complexity.

Scotland’s national architecture awards – RIAS announces its buildings of the year
RIAS Awards in 2021 Winning Buildings
2nd of September 2021 – Fourteen outstanding new Scottish buildings have been named today as winners of Scotland’s national architecture awards by the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS).
As well as exemplary new housing, education and healthcare facilities, this year’s RIAS Awards winners include a new training centre for Scotland’s sporting champions, a temporary museum housing a Charles Rennie Mackintosh masterpiece, and a moveable microhome on the Isle of Skye.
The 2021 RIAS Awards winners are:
Aberdeen Art Gallery, Aberdeen by Hoskins Architects

Aberdeen Art Gallery
A decade-long redevelopment project, delivering major new exhibition and education spaces, a complete renewal of servicing and environmental control systems, as well as improved art handling, storage, back of house and study facilities. The special character of the original spaces is preserved, while a dramatic new rooftop extension signals the gallery’s renewal to the city.

This moveable one-bedroom home emulates the form and proportions of traditional highland rural houses, and was developed as a prototype lightweight and thermally efficient house for a rural landscape. Its three open light-filled rooms flow into each other, and feature deep storage to make clever use of the limited space. Designed to be beautiful while also being practical and sustainable, the re-use and maintenance of this project were paramount to its creation.
An Cala, Sutherland by Mary Arnold-Forster Architects

This two-bedroom micro-home was designed to fit on a fixed grid that related to the size of a lorry, with its 13 modules constructed offsite, transported up a single track lane and erected in four days on a site facing Loch Nedd. The robust house can face all weathers and requires no heating apart from a small wood burner.
Bayes Centre, Edinburgh by Bennetts Associates

Bayes Centre
Edinburgh University’s new building the final phase of a redevelopment programme commenced in 2003. This is a building for research, business and learning, designed to enable collaboration between different users in the data industry, and a place to linger and exchange ideas.
Dunira Street Housing, Glasgow by Elder & Cannon Architects This development of 71 homes is part of a larger regeneration programme in Glasgow, and provides a wide variety of homes, including accessible flats and houses. Elder & Cannon Architects have reinstated a perimeter ‘tenement’ block, carefully balancing private amenity space and an improved public realm.
Edinburgh Printmakers, Edinburgh by Page\Park Architects The only surviving structure from the Castle Mills industrial complex – where almost 2 million pairs of rubber boots were made for the British Army in World War One- is now a new creative hub, thanks the redevelopment of a derelict listed derelict building into a welcoming multi-use arts complex.
The Egg Shed, Ardrishaig by Oliver Chapman Architects The aim of this modest building was to improve the built environment of Ardrishaig’s waterfront and increase the tourist offer within the village. The Egg Shed provides a new destination for learning about the rich heritage of the area alongside facilities for both visitors and local residents. Using flood resistant materials this easily visible project builds upon Scottish Canals’ existing facilities to allow story-telling and tourism to flourish.
The Hill House Box, Helensburgh by Carmody Groarke A radical approach to conservation sees the creation of a demountable structure and walkway encasing Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s Grade A listed masterpiece, in a hybridisation of tradition and intervention. The Hill House Box provides an environment for the building to dry out from prolonged water damage, alongside visitor facilities allowing people to see its conservation at close quarters.
King’s Stables Road, Edinburgh by Fletcher Joseph Associates This mix of private and rented accommodation (including student flats and a hotel) transforms a former council depot into a lively, attractive environment. Its muted palette of traditional materials blends into the existing fabric of the Old Town, and the improved public realm is now linked to historic closes with views to and from Edinburgh Castle.
Kyle House, Sutherland by Groves-Raines Architects Studios Ltd. Believed to have been built using stones from the nearby Dun Mhaigh Iron Age broch, this nineteenth century unlisted building has been brought back to life as a place for guests to spend time in a beautiful Sutherland landscape. Groves-Raines Architects’ restoration and refurbishment has introduced subtle yet significant contemporary interventions to the exterior, and a series of highly refined, almost monastic interiors within.
Maidenhill Primary School and Nursery, Newton Mearns by BDP Sitting in the heart of a brand new 800 house development, this school provides a variety of flexible spaces for learning arranged around a central atrium ‘heart’. A restrained palette of colours creates a comforting background to learning, and a thoughtful relationship with the surrounding landscape gives pupils space to explore.
Maryhill Locks, Maryhill by jmarchitects Maryhill Locks reinterprets the traditional terrace to create 33 flexible and sustainable homes for young professionals and families, close to Glasgow city centre. Brick enclosures at the front cleverly conceal bins and cars, a linking footpath behind the rear gardens is a safe shared space for young children to play, and a hidden allotment sits at the heart of the scheme.
The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, Glasgow by Ryder Architecture This innovative and welcoming building and landscape puts patients first, and is the first hospice in the UK to follow the Scandinavian-inspired ‘Sengetun’ model of care which puts placemaking at its heart. The hospice creates light-filled and familiar places that look and feel like home, with medical assistance sitting firmly in the background.
sportscotland National Sports Training Centre Inverclyde by Reiach and Hall Architects Designed as the UK’s first fully inclusive residential sports facility, this project boasts impressive sports training facilities alongside flexible and adaptable space for accommodation, learning, meeting and offices, with a ribbon-like design that weaves across the landscape. Athletes who have trained here include several Scottish Paralympians – currently seeking glory in Tokyo.
The RIAS Awards demonstrate the quality and breadth of architectural endeavour in Scotland. All types and sizes of architectural projects can win a RIAS Award, as the list of 2021 awards winners demonstrates. Buildings are assessed by an expert jury who look at each project’s architectural integrity, usability and context, delivery and execution, and sustainability.
The winners of the RIAS Awards will become the ‘longlist’ for the RIAS Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award. The shortlist for the 2021 Andrew Doolan Award will be announced on 30 September, with the winner announced on 30 November.
RIAS President Christina Gaiger PRAIS said:
“The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of our built environment to individuals and communities, and the RIAS Awards are a moment to pause and celebrate the incredible difference that architects are making across the country. This year’s RIAS Awards demonstrate the critical role architecture can play – whether that is delivering better homes and public services, addressing climate change, celebrating our shared culture and heritage, or simply giving moments of real delight. There is a real breadth in this year’s clutch of RIAS Awards, and each of them is a very worthy winner.”

expensive karambit Explained in Fewer than 140 Characters
The smart Trick of Knives Only Millionaires Can Afford That Nobody is Discussing
youtube
The blade itself is based upon a personalized piece they made with each other. It has a 3. 75-inch CPM 20CV blade, carbon fiber composite handle, Sub-Frame lock, light weight aluminum backspacer, as well as titanium clip. I'm not actually sure if I need to put this on here due to the fact that the production years were 2017 to 2018, though they're still available.
