Unfortunate circumstances bring the old gang back together but animosity hasn’t died down and the call of the drugs may lure them all back into old ways.

Though the surreal imagery and cinematography are as consistent with the original as they can be, some other aspects have been brought into the relevant decade by addressing more modern era. Similarly the more grotesque aspects of life aren’t censored and demonstrate that the fundamentals do not change regardless of the year.

There’s a prominent and necessary sense of bleakness throughout since the film is exploring the lower and more desperate elements of society but it’s not as wearing as it could be since it’s broken up by occasional surrealism which introduces bizarre things that work out as comedic in the serious setting.

It was good to see all the actors return and plenty of references to the original, almost working as a homage to it by even reusing some of the same narrative techniques and repeating shots. It’s useful that what seemed closed at the end of the first one were revisited with a realistic view and others were the more unusual parts such as the prison break.

The tone was certainly a little different to the original, most notably that it was overtly a sequel which had the upside of not having to introduce the characters, although it does that anyway, but it also means that it spends a great deal more time on referencing itself than creating an original plot.

6/10 -Just a cut above average-

-The development title for the film was”Porno” after the sequel to the original novel but only some parts were used for this sequel.

-A cyclist is seen wearing a skeleton mask in the opening scene, referencing the skull on the cover of the Trainspotting novel.

Every once in a while, I see something neat and also go, “I know what that is!” -- and I don’t merely mean about the massive EMD645E3 2-stroke diesel engine!

Recently T2 Trainspotting has been my biggest obsession! And since i also like The Proclaimers i was like “yeah this definitely needs to be a drawing “ so I made this between breaks because you know—school takes a lot of my time nowadays with 12th grade.

But also, Idk why i like it so much! I picked the movie because Ewan Mcgregor was in it but ended up being captivated by the aesthetics and characters, the gritty and brutal 2010s vibes too. Overall, it also reminded me of The Punisher. Also because of the psychological aspect of it and dark humour. Idk what to say, this was truly a peak movie. 10/10 and I really don’t give off good grades when it comes to movies because i’m very picky. But there is something so human about it and so flawed, violent yet beautiful about it. I can’t reccomend it enough.
