I’ve been living with my boyfriend and his family for a while. Now I’ve haven’t really stuffed myself like before but these people.. they eat a LOT

So here’s a little feedee story from me to you ❤️

We were about to eat one day, and we got called to the table. As soon as I looked around, I saw on everyone’s seat, a massive ducking steak with potatoes, Caesar salad, the steak was medium rare, seasoned and there were ribs as well 😳 I don’t know how I did it but I managed to cram everything in my stomach

However, I was bloated, so much so that my shirt actually rolled up and I was trying hard to pull it down to avoid any awkward situations 😅 I am not joking when I say I felt PREGNANT. And looked it as well. I’ve always been told I look a couple of months along but this time? Like you could’ve swore I was at least on my third trimester

Anyways my mind started to race, and eventually because the struggle was too real, my shirt wouldn’t cover my belly button anymore, letting my piercing to be on display, I tried hiding under the table. At this point I’m red as a tomato. I had to say I needed the bathroom because I’m turned on, and I need to get something bigger to hide my food baby anyways. I got a hoodie, but this wasn’t even enough, it was still showing even under the hoodie!

Needless to say, when I say I’m being well fed, I mean WELL FED

The best part of it all is that I’m about to start hrt, and if you’re a trans woman you know that taking estrogen makes you ravenous, and I mean hungry 24/7. This means I’ll gain even more and probably a bit faster too. Not only on my belly but also around my body like hips, butt, chest. So I think I’m about to become a fully fledged fatty 🥰

- Boone terrified him at first, and after he learns about his biological father he avoids him for like a week from the guilt and shame. Besides that Boone makes sure he doesn't eat concrete because Spades is curious about the texture of it

- breaks down because not only does he look like Caesar he feels like he'll do one wrong move and turn into him

Hi! I’m Alistair— you can call me that, or you can use my username for pretty much everywhere else, TheetyPie/Theety. I don’t mind either way.

I’m a trans guy, I use he/they pronouns. I’m panromantic/asexual, and I’m 27 years old.

I have 3 cats, they’re my babies. I also (as you can tell from above) have a lot of OCs, and the number is still growing. I want to turn my ideas into a bigger creation someday, still not sure exactly where I want to go with it.

I do more than write. I do art, I like video games, music, and just collecting stuff. Current obsessions are Monster High, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, makeup, crystals, and jewelry.

Rules

The most important: I do not RP smut. In the past I’ve used the fade-to-black method, but I’m not entirely comfortable with that with most of my muses.

In the same vein, DO NOT FORCE SHIPS. I love ships as much as the next guy, but I would prefer to discuss it first, or for us to agree on it. It’s cool if your muse has a crush, totally fine— mine get crushes all the time! But make sure if you want to ship, we discuss it first.

In a similar vein to that one as well, no god-modding/powerplaying. If your character is strong, an immortal being, or whatever, cool! I have some of those too. But there should always be a limit. Don’t say your character is moving mine unless we’ve talked about that. Attempt to move them. Usually I follow along as long as boundaries aren’t pushed.

Don’t kill or seriously injure my muse without permission. Fights happen, of course, but again: discussion. I’m up for threads where my canon muses are injured or killed, but not where it happens to my OCs, unless we’re getting into a backstory and another OC that’s already deceased dies. Non-serious injuries are alright to come out of nowhere with, but if it’s a first meeting, I’d prefer to plot it out.

I’m semi-selective. I’m kind of particular about who I follow and who I thread with. I prefer us to be mutuals to thread, but you don’t have to be mutuals to send me things.

I’m very bad at keeping up with people. If you message me and I don’t respond, it’s usually bc I’m shy, I forgot, or I’m busy with work. It’s not you, I promise. Usually I don’t message first bc I’m nervous.

Back to shipping: I’m also multiship. Usually my ships are in different universes, unless discussed with all parties beforehand. The exception is a few of my OCs that are partnered together— ask about their availability. I love random ships, just talk to me about them!

I love duplicates of my muses. Whether it’s “x meets self” or I find someone I share a muse with, I love RPing with just about everyone. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if we have a muse in common!

One of my other most important statements, not really considered a rule, but it’s still important: if you want to know something about any muse, canon or OC, please tell me— ask or message me! I haven’t been able to write down a lot of info about any of them because I’m on mobile, but I will infodump for you if you need/want to know something. I love talking about my children, they’re precious to me.

If you send something in or make something for me when we haven’t even spoken, I might not feel comfortable responding. I’m very shy and nervous about not having any discussion beforehand. 😭

What’s your thoughts on how Bill got his powers?

At first, I thought that he had gotten them AFTER he destroyed his dimension, but that doesn’t really make any sense because he used his powers to destroy it in the first place.

Do you think he was born with them? Or something else?

Funny you should ask that, because Back In The Day i actually had a full Bill backstory fic planned- never written, but planned.

But in my fic, he was born with them! I forgot what my explanation was, or if I even had one. I guess.... have you seen Nope? The movie, y'know? Or at least heard of it? It's like they said in that movie- what does a bad miracle look like?

I suppose Bill's powers were a bad miracle.

I have my old notes somewhere, all I remember was that he was an Irregular in a family of Equilaterals, he had a twin (equilateral) brother named Caesar, he got corrective surgery to make him look "proper" at some point... uuhhh.... Flatland was divided into two "halves" a la the Berlin Wall, where one side was a lot stricter with the laws and a lot more prejudiced, while the other side was laxer with irregulars and the such, and Bill was on the strict side.

He was also adopted, because I remember a scene where he meets his biological, Isosceles father. His birth mother had since killed herself- tendencies like that ran in her family. I guess his Equilateral family just, adopted him with the intent to get him surgically fixed up once he was of proper age. But Bill, as a "genetic Irregular" was not allowed to have kids.

Bill rarely ever used his powers growing up, and his life with Caesar was fairly mundane, honestly, which was the point. They eventually moved out and lived together? Bill was a prostitute for a while with some irregulars who were being harbored by the guy in charge and it ended with his, uh, "boss" being blinded by him.

There was this subplot where Bill and a wealthy couple make a deal that benefits both of them- Bill, still angry at not being allowed to have kids, wanted a kid. The couple was societally expected to have a child, but didn't want one. So Bill was gonna impregnate the line woman, she was gonna have the baby in secret and tell everyone it was a stillbirth. And that she was so torn up over it that she can't bring herself to try again, no, not just yet, the loss, the wound, it still stings. You get the idea.

It ended very not well.

I swear this all connected WAY better back then. I'm 22 trying to remember 16, man, it's not gonna be a clear image.

ANYWAY point being, Bill was born with his powers and he did destroy his dimension with them in a semi-accidental fit of rage, i.e. he meant to burn stuff, just not everything.

And yes, he killed his brother in this incident. I remember that scene, it was fucking rough. You all should be glad I didn't write this.

And then a bunch of other stuff happened. There was a canon trans character. It was gonna be canon that the caesar cipher was named after Bill's brother, by Bill. He did that.

It probably would have been very not good but who knows? It's not like I was godawful back then. But there's my extremely long-winded answer~

Overall: The relationships and dialogue in this episode were super fun, I felt like we got to know a lot of the characters better. Joner leaving made me incredibly sad but I think that just reflects how well built-up and likable his character was in a short amount of time

Overall: Another banger episode, Mal especially was super interesting, I have no idea what her intention was but regardless sabotage is always interesting. Also the Kelaustin(?) is fire and all the characters are just really cool and fun

Overall: Dude I love this chapter so much, Courtney and McLovin’s friendship and the mounting issues with Mal are both so good. Also Scruffy’s spelling skills, mwah, god tier detail and win. I’m sad Patrick’s gone, he was my babygirl, but him finding Kitty of all people to be impressive and then losing because of it was like surprisingly cute and tragic? Autistic alpha male tsundere x full-on cryptid is a god tier dynamic that I’ve never considered before. I want good things for them

You said that Cherry was designed after Barbie, now I wanna know what the others are designed after. Especially Xaje, her brother, and Afia

Xaje was designed to be a bit of a mysterious female character with short hair, I had a specific trope in mind but I don't really have a name for it. Also, for her visuals, I wanted a black-and-white contrasting color scheme. I also wanted her to mostly appear to be soft. Xavier basically piggybacking off of that idea but also like the opposite. Where Xaje was soft, he was rough and sharp. It's also why he's relatively tall since she's pretty short. He's lost some of his edge from his character concept because I've grown entirely too fond of him. Afia's design went through many changes as she initially was not in the same story as Xaje. Her character concept was definitely always brown. Her clothing style was soft as well but flowy. I couldn't decide if I wanted her to be black or south Asian (Indian specifically) which is how I decided she should be both. Later I decided she'd have a religious aesthetic with influences from charlie brown and late '50s to '70s fashion. Lee Ann has far too many inspirations for me to count tbh but she was designed after an idol/sex worker concept that was supposed to be bright and make use of neon colors. So she bares a lot of resemblence to the memes from MEMEME!/GIRL protagonist, Kami-Sama. Her red star earrings are a direct reference to Jerrica Benton/ Jem from Jem. For Artemis, there were a lot of concepts for him but his design idea was that he'd wear a fur coat smoke cigarettes, and have long hair. He was supposed to look a bit tired and unkept. As his character evolved I decided id really exaggerate his hair and make it longer. The night I first drew him I also spontaneously decided to give him blonde tips based off of the musician Towkio. Morris's character concept was entirely to feed into the character archetype that was being poked fun of at the time which was the man with blonde hair and blue eyes who you have to guess if he's: a) Jack Morrison aka Soldier 76 (Overwatch), b) Joseph Christiansen (Dream Daddy Dating Simulator), or c) Steve Rogers aka Captain America (Marvel, duh). Though I will also say his concept started with the main character of the dating simulator, Coming Out On Top's main protagonist, Mark. The main idea is he is a clean-cut white guy who's gay. Caesar, who was pretty much created exactly around the time as Xaje bc I wanted two characters to come in a pair and be a duo, the concept was probably a mix of a lot of things. His design and personality take a couple notes from Fuyuhiko from DanganRonpa 2. but the idea for him was that he'd be aggressive but not necessarily burley or tall. In fact, I liked the idea of him being baby-faced. What's been pretty consistent in his design though is that his clothing style is a bit flamboyant and that he should look like he's made of gold. I’m not sure when I decided Joyce would have long silver hair? To be honest it was something I probably decided when I was making her look for this post  but Joyce was supposed to have a very distinct look every time you saw her but eventually I wanted to make her character more relevant and fashionable so I decided she’d have an insta baddie/ influencer look to her more than anything. Evol and Etah were based in appearance after  Aikurō Mikisugi from Kill la Kill (in both his nudist form and his everyday form) but honestly I’m glad they got a race lift because I’m not very fond of that character in retrospect. They’ve had many appearance references in the past years.  Travis was based off of someone who used to run this tumblr blog I followed a long time ago. They’ve long since left the site. I definitely wanted him to be a trans masc character who didn’t entirely fit everyone’s concept of masculinity since he shouldn’t have to! My decision to make him blasian was also in reference to an old OC I had that I’ve since retired. Clarrissa’s appearance takes inspiration from seductive characters and old comics of the like. Her idea was that she was a promiscuous character with a vintage aesthetic that was definitely rooted in rockabilly and pin-up art. Clover’s was based on the art of Kiwi-Byrd and their OCs. I’ve been a long time fan of their work.  Ferris was based off an older concept I had from a character which i suppose means his design takes cues from what alternative or indie men of color were wearing back in 2015.

30 days of Autism Acceptance: Day 3!

April 3: Talk about special interests. Do you have any? What are they? How long have you had them? What does it feel like to have special interests? What does having special interests mean to you? Talk about your past special interests

HOO BOY! Ok, I’ll try not to go on too long about my special interests, but I have a lot to say about them! Also, some of my special interests are in this weird grey area of “are they a SpIn or a hyperfixation?”, so I’ll cover those as well, and make it noted when that’s the case for one. Also, this will be VERY LONG, so I’ll put it under a cut.

SpIn #1 - Pokemon

Pokemon has been my main special interest since I was 9, I believe! Black was my first game that I got for my birthday, and I was super happy to get it since all of my friends at the time would talk about it! I’ve gotten (almost?) every major release since then, thought I usually only get one out of the two versions. 

The Pokemon games that I have are *inhales*: Black, Black 2, HeartGold (got a few years after it came out), X (I have the limited edition 3DS), Alpha Sapphire, Moon (first completed Pokedex!), Ultra Moon (haven’t beat and probably never will), Let’s Go, Eevee!, Sword (still trying to beat), Conquest, Art Academy, PMD: Gates to Infinity, Picross, Rumble World, Battle Trozei, Pokemon Quest, Pokemon Playhouse (for when I’m regressed), Poke Park 1 & 2,  My Pokemon Ranch, and Battle Revolution!

I also used to play the TCG competitively, and in my first competition, I placed 9th in my division! I stopped playing about a year after that though because the cards I used in my strategy when I would practice with my Dad were too old to be viable.

I have a growing stuffie and merch collection as well! I have a lot of Unova stuffies, and a print of the Unova map that I got at a ren faire when I was younger (it currently hangs above my dresser)! My two favorite stuffies at this time are Baby my Eevee Build-A-Bear (named after my Eevee in Let’s Go, Eevee!), and Lily my Wooloo! I have a couple of Pokemon sketch cards that friends of my Dad’s drew, and some prints and figure-y things I’ve gotten in Artist Alleys over the years!

I also own a couple of different Pokemon books (not the manga, though), and 2 of the movies, along with the OSTs for B/W, X/Y, and ORAS! I don’t have much as far as clothing goes though, except for my “Gotta Catch ‘Em All” scarf and a Pikachu hat I got at an old anime store at the mall that has since closed. That’s probably all I can remember right now!

SpIn #2 - Steam Powered Giraffe

SPG has been a special interest for about 4 years now? Anyway, they’re my #1 favorite band and have literally saved my life. Watching Bunny Bennett’s (who plays Rabbit) vlogs about her transition, along with listening to the song Transform that she wrote (waaay before they just made it a single) really helped me accept myself and come out. 

They also came at a time where I was struggling emotionally a lot, and I remember being stuck in the ER hooked up to an IV, and my mom played some of their albums for me to keep me calm and grounded. More recently, I saw them perform at Anime Midwest last year, and when they performed Transform (which neither me or my friends expected), we were all hugging each other and crying tears of joy (my friends are trans as well, and have also been touched by Bunny’s vlogs).

Their songs (not including the sad ones) make me really happy as well, and Make Believe makes me stim a lot in particular! I also got to sing Honeybee as part of a voice coaching summer camp I took last year, and it felt really good to do it! I really recommend listening to them, especially if you like steampunk and/or you’re looking for trans artists to support!

SpIn #3 - Little Shop of Horrors

So this is more of a fairly recent one, compared to the first two. This special interest mostly applies to the 1986 movie, but I’ve seen the stage musical as well! The music, the cast, the plot, it’s all *chef’s kiss*. But for real though, my two favorite things about the movie are the practical effects and the endings.

With the CGI fresh hell we got with CATS, you may thing, “wow, special effects were so much better back then”. Except here’s the thing, they were practical effects. Audrey II is (I believe) entirely puppetry, not CGI. The same applies for the musical as well! It really culminated at the end of the film during “Mean Green Mother from Outer Space”, when Audrey II is at it’s biggest and most elaborate. Speaking of that scene, I much prefer the director’s cut over the theatrical cut. I know that the happy ending is much better for Audrey and Seymour, but “Don’t Feed The Plants” is an absolute banger, and I get a good cry out of it too.

I heard they might be making a remake of the movie, which I’m hesitant about, again, seeing how CATS turned out. We can only hope that they listen to the fans, and make the right decisions when it comes to making it.

SpIn #4 - Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure

Ok, so this is one of those aformentioned “is it a SpIn or a hyperfixation” moments. I’ve been hyperfixated on JJBA for the past 6 months and I’m physically unable to shut up about it XD

I’m about to start watching part 4 of the anime, I just need to set aside time to do it. I watched it a tad out of order, my ex told me to skip part 1 and watch a synopsis of it, so I started with part 2 (I’m a huge part 2 stan btw), got to part 3, was confused by everything going on with DIO, so I went back, watched part 1, and then resumed part 3.

As I mentioned, I’m a huge part 2 stan, so I currently have several part 2 character cosplays in the works. This includes (but isn’t limited to) Caesar, Suzi Q, Playboy Bunny Caesar (inspired by a piece of art that @tinypalettes drew), Tequila Joseph (but like,, actually decent drag), and Cleric Suzi Q from the JJBA D&D session me and my friends are having. I also want to do a drag/latex DIO look, along with maid DIO inspired by an old JUMP cover and a fanfic I read the other day.

I get a little nervous about doing/going to JJBA events at conventions because I’m worried about running into my ex, but knowing that I have supportive people with me helps a lot.

SpIn #5 - Homestuck/Hiveswap

So this is another one of those “SpIn or hyperfixation” moments as well. I’ve been into Homestuck since late 2016, but I’ve never been super involved in the fandom. Like, yes, I have a moirail and I’ve been in and hosted panels at conventions, but I’ve encountered some toxic people in it, so I try to distance myself.

I will say, however, that Homestucks are loyal to their fandom, and will buy merch if they like it. When I say that, yes, I mean myself, but it’s mostly about my Etsy customers. If you look at my sales history, the majority of it is quadrant necklaces, almost always the moirail ones. I get some orders for horns and pillows too, but not as often as the necklaces. When it comes to exhibiting at conventions, it depends. I normally don’t put Homestuck stuff out on the table because it’s such a niche, but when I do, people will usually buy a lot at once. For example, at Wizard World Madison in 2018, one guy bought $50-60 worth of Homestuck sprites from me. That weekend was the best I’ve ever done, and I haven’t come close since. My Etsy store started out as just me making Homestuck sprites for me and my friends too, so I’m glad that I was able to expand and give others what I like as well.

I’m also involved in a Hiveswap YouTube musical, and I’ve made a lot of good friends through it! We’re on hiatus right now, but we should be starting up again soon! I also have a lot of Homestuck cosplays! I’ve done Karkat, John, Jade, Nepeta, Trickster Nepeta, Karkat Peixes (a bloodswap), and I have a lot more that I want to do!

SpIn #6 - Danganronpa

So Danganronpa is (probably) one of those last “SpIn or hyperfixation” things. I’ve been into Danganronpa since 2018 (I think?), and DR:AE is my favorite (mostly because I’m a Kotoko and Toko kinnie oof-)!

Right now, my only Danganronpa cosplay is Toko/Syo, but I’m working on a couple of j-fashion (particularly menhera and fairy kei) inspired looks to do with my moirail (who was the one who got me into j-fashion), and just some Amazon/eBay cosplays as well! I’m also working on a Future Foundation Toko cosplay to do with my moirail so we can do Tokomaru together (though most of it is thrifting and clothes I already have)!

I own DR1, SDR2, and DR:AE on my computer, but I don’t play them much. The second trial in DR1 gives me panic attacks because of the whole breaking of trust thing (I’ve heard the audios and I just,,, break down), I haven’t touched SDR2 yet, and I’m sucky at the controls for DR:AE. However, I’ve watched the anime and I’ve seen let’s plays, so I have a feel for what’s going on, though I may not remember it all correctly since I haven’t watched them in a while.

she sided with the legion from the time she saw vulpes in nipton bc Romam Armor Look Cool, cured caesar of his tumor & everything, and then just before the battle of hoover dam, assassinated caesar and sided with yes-man. she realized about halfway through her work for caesar that siding with the legion was never going to pay off and decided to Fool Him TM and then take vegas for herself

OOF probably like… leather armor sdkfjsdk i dont know. she wore the tribal raiding armor at the very beginning of the game. she doesnt wear the legion uniform but i imagine her w some Legion Accessories TM like a mark of caesar on her chest or something

her highest skills are melee, stealth, and medicine (she polishes that up real nice when she realizes caesar has cancer). secondary skills are explosives and lockpick. lowest skills would have to be barter and survival :/

the followers aren’t a fan of her because of all that legion business. the kings like her because she takes care of rex. the garrets generally dislike her. the van graffs like her a lot because she let them kill cass & did all their quests

the omertas: she did cachino’s quest so it’s pretty good / white gloves: idolized / chairmen: hey that’s the fink that killed benny / ncrmp: BAD / mr house: well considering the fact that she killed him, not excellent

literally just ‘she wants to’. the whole point of this courier was that she’s a no rules run, she’s lost a lot after the bullet scrambled her brain and she’s literally just doing whatever she wants to do

she has black hair in the “blast back” style. pretty short, like 5′4″. no piercings or tattoos (but she probably gets a legion brand at some point w like the mars symbol or something). there’s of course a bullet scar on her head, and a few around her arms and torso.  

22) how old are they? do they know their birthday? if so, what’s their sign?

she’s in her early-mid twenties, very young. im not sure if she remembers her bday (probs not) but she’s a Sagittarius

god no. she doesnt even try to learn latin jhjhkjgfkj she pronounces all of it wrong and caesar’s like please shut up,

she went to school in new reno so she can do all that. maybe not sing.

she likes to gamble. usually at the ultra-luxe. her luck is pretty good!

she usually stays in the lucky 38, in her hotel room in novac, or in the tent Big C TM hooked her up with at the fort. if it comes to it she’ll sleep in the ncrcf. no one else really lives in her 38 save for the securitrons

her caesar’s fall collection legion-brand machete babeyyyy, one n only! she’ll also use a pistol (a light shining in darkness most of the time since u know she sides w joshua graham) or a police baton if that’s appropriate

yes she does and no it isnt! she licked vulpes. just. right on his visibly ugly face. one time she tried to climb yes-man

the companions,, obviously dont think very well of her most of the time bc she’s legion. cass thinks she’s a Real Wild Card and respects her for that at first. raul doesn’t like her very much but he’ll still travel with her from time to time just to see what she Does TM.

36) why did you create them?

i wanted to do a no rules run! like i thought it would be cool to just. do the craziest things i could think of in fnv and do it all with one courier. and thus sarsaparilla was born

37) do they draw, paint, play any instruments?

hell no

38) how do they deal with injuries? do they use stimpaks, healing powder, med-x? does a companion help them? can they bear a lot of pain, or do they need to attend to injuries immediately? when they do have to see a doctor, do they have a preferred doctor, or do they just see anyone?

she uses all 3 depending on how bad the wound is. for minor wounds she uses healing powder because she has an abundance of it from the legion, but since she has fairly low endurance she often just has to use stimpaks & med-x. she’s not very tolerant to pain all of the time? but if she has a lot of adrenaline (which she comes by very easily) she can all but ignore it entirely. she doesnt have a preferred doctor

39) have they ever been irradiated? how did they deal with it? did it have lasting effects?

probably a few times but she just threw up and then took a bunch of rad-away and ended up fine. she’s never been damaged by radiation permanently 

40) in conversation, are they kind? gentle? sarcastic? rude? do they speak warmly and openly with people, or are they more guarded? do they talk a lot?

she’s somewhat talkative, she mostly says whatever pops into her head whenever it comes to mind so her talking is just. a big mess of Thoughts She Had. she likes making a lot of jokes that are mostly for her

she likes to travel quickly. no time to waste! she’s almost always using the roads

she thinks it’s really funny to blow vulpes’s cover whenever she sees him undercover on the strip & she almost gets killed every single time. oh holy shit it’s vulpes! vulpes inculta! spelled v-u-l-p– oh my god its the ncr mp quick vulpes take your dick out in this gift shop

yes but shes literally only seen blazing saddles, gladiator, and we bought a zoo

yes she did kill caesar! her securitrons killed vulpes at hoover dam and she was power-tripping so hard she didn’t realize they’d already gotten to him. she probably didnt think about him again before she died. she didnt assassinate kimball herself but she definitely assisted in making the assassination go smoothly, and im sure her robots got to hsu sometime before she had yes-man throw oliver off the dam skdjfskd

not to be fake deep but all this shit she does obviously causes more adrenaline than happiness. you could say that it’s when yes-man threw oliver off the dam, because that was her most exhilarating moment, or you could say that it was when she woke up in goodsprings, because it was the last time she was calm and being taken care of.

My Top 10 Movies Of 2017

So this was hard because I saw a lot of good shit this year and I thought 2017 was a way better year for films than 2016. Here’s my list:

1. Baby Driver Is Edgar Wright capable of making a terrible movie? The answer so far has been a resounding no. The man who gave us The Cornetto Trilogy and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World continues his unstoppable streak as one of the best film makers of the 21st century and gives us a fantastic hybrid of heist movie and jukebox musical. Baby Driver is an excellent example of great character study, technical prowess, and scene geography. I adored every second of it. It also has the best soundtrack of the year. Oh, and a film that finally knows how to use Jon Hamm correctly!

2. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Are Wonder Woman, Logan, and Thor: Ragnarok technically better movies than this? Probably. But I don’t care. GOTG Vol. 2 is still my favorite comic book movie of 2017 and holds the most emotional resonance for me. It deals with themes of losing a parent, toxic fatherhood, and making a family of people who aren’t blood-related to you and it had many moments where I wept in a movie theater openly. It’s a tearjerking heartbreaker that still manages to deliver the laughs and satisfying space battles. I can’t wait to see what James Gunn has in store for us in Guardians 3.

3. Blade Runner 2049 Easily the best science fiction movie of 2017. Absolutely gorgeous to look at, fantastic performances all around (including one of the best roles Harrison Ford has had in many years) and manages to ask a lot of poignant questions about what it means to be human. There are things about it I like even more than the original and that’s saying a lot. Unfortunately this didn’t do well at the box office, but I hope more people do see it. Denis Villeneuve is one of the most gifted directors working today.

4. Thor: Ragnarok The best movie in the Thor trilogy, the most fun I had at a movie all year, and it has some subtle anti-colonialism messaging to boot. Marvel lets Taika Waititi loose on their product and he gave us a cosmic party adventure that wouldn’t look out of place in the Flash Gordon universe. It’s drenched in 80′s - the colors, the costume design, and Mark Mothersbaugh’s synthy score, but it doesn’t feel cynical like the upcoming Ready Player One. Also, hearing the term “devil’s anus” in a superhero movie will never not be funny to me.

5. I, Tonya Darkly funny, well acted, and an almost feminist call-to-arms to reevaluate Tonya Harding in the pop-culture landscape. This is a star-making turn for Margot Robbie and I hope she wins all the awards she can for it. We also see strong acting from Sebastian Stan, Allison Janney, Paul Walter Hauser, and Bobby Canavale. The cast is stellar. I only saw this a couple days ago as of typing this out and I can’t stop thinking about it.

6. Star Wars: The Last Jedi My favorite Star Wars movie since The Empire Strikes Back. I loved The Force Awakens but you can’t deny it played it quite safe. This, on the other hand, does not. I love the weird, bold choices it makes in terms of storytelling and the Star Wars mythos, the characters, and the stunning visuals. Mark Hamill has never been better as Luke Skywalker and Rey, Kylo, Poe, and Finn continue to be fascinating. I also really loved Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico, a fangirl who loves Finn but doesn’t shy away from pointing out his faults. Plus a lot of MRA and Reddit choads hated this movie which gives it a ringing endorsement, as far as I’m concerned. 

7. Logan Lucky Holy shit. A movie about working-class people that doesn’t condescend to them. Steven Soderbergh’s return to the director’s chair sees him going back to the well for a heist movie but I liked this way better than any of his Ocean’s films. Adam Driver’s quiet dignity as Clyde and Channing Tatum’s likable Jimmy make for a great duo. Though Daniel Craig steals the show as Joe Bang. He’s terrific. There’s a scene in this movie where a little girl sings “Country Roads” by John Denver at a beauty pageant and could have been corny as hell and laughable. But it’s not. It’s a show-stopper and an emotionally effective moment.

8. Get Out The best horror movie of the year. No contest. Smart and genuinely scary. It has a lot of intelligent and relevant commentary about race in America but never comes across as preachy and heavy-handed. The fact that this is Jordan Peele’s first time as a director is astonishing. Oh, and I will never look at a spoon tapping against a teacup the same way ever again. *shudders*

9. Logan So if you’re Fox what do you do with the X-Men franchise after the disappointment of Apocalypse? Why, you do a Wolverine solo movie, make it R-Rated, and turn the universe into a dystopian western. Nice. Logan isn’t for everyone - it’s violent and bloody as hell and there are no happy endings. But I fucking loved it. It’s certainly the best X-Men film since First Class. Dafne Keen is a revelation as Laura Kinney (X-23) and one of my favorite female characters in recent memory. When her claws came out the first time I literally squeed in the theater. Please give her her own movie as soon as possible. Logan is a fitting send-off to Hugh Jackman’s signature role.

10. War For The Planet Of The Apes The third entry in the second best trilogy of the 2010′s (the first being Captain America) is a different breed of summer blockbuster and one I hope to see more of. It’s thoughtful, ambitious, and emotionally devastating. The themes of slavery and genocide and the allusions to militias and the white power movement are pretty clear and it definitely puts you on the side of the apes. Andy Serkis is still amazing as Caesar and the motion capture used to create him is astoundingly realistic, Woody Harrelson is genuinely frightening as the main villain, and Amiah Miller as the mute Nova is one of the best child performances of the year. Oh, and that last shot is killer. I’m hoping they make more of these films, but if they don’t this is one hell of a finale.

Some honorable mentions: Spider-Man: Homecoming Huge thank you to Marvel Studios for saving our favorite webslinger from the awful Amazing Spider-Man franchise, two movies that turned Peter Parker into Edward Cullen from Twilight (ugh).

Wonder Woman After the cinematic wrongness of Man Of Steel, Batman v. Superman, and Suicide Squad (three of the worst big-budget movies of the decade that are not Transformers films), I had really low expectations for this one and was pleasantly surprised by how good this is. Three words: No Man’s Land.

IT Another film that surprised the hell out of me. A horror movie released in the beginning of September has no fucking right to be this good. But it is!

Dunkirk Christopher Nolan at the peak of his powers. This almost made my top 10 list for its technical acumen alone but it didn’t quite make the cut.

Atomic Blonde Probably the best pure action movie of the year. Is the plot convoluted as all hell? Sure. But it has Charlize Theron kicking major ass in well-choreographed fight scenes and making out with Sofia Boutella. What’s not to love?

Haha well, I have a bunch and a whole story world I’m very slowly developing with them, but I’ll try and give some basics? If you want to know more specifics you can certainly ask!!! Under read more so people who don’t really have any interest don’t have to deal with my rambling haha

It’s a very fantasy world based idea. The ‘time period’ I’m planning on being a weird mesh of like slowly Industrializing but heavily mixed with magic and what might seem more older, like medival. Like I said, it’s a work in progress I’ve only just started adding elements of being Industrialized haha

But there’s a few basic “species” (races? not sure which terminology to use in it). There’s castors (humans), fae, trolls, and winged. (And sirens in a way but that’s a whole Discussion). Humans are as you’d expect, Fae are similar to Elves but very colorful (and don’t have wings) [also Fae don’t really have genders??? Like certainly don’t have any sort of gender binary system haha]. Trolls (who i really need to rename) are smaller creatures, think dwarves but rougher skin, grayer skin. Very homey creatures but sweet. Winged are like angels minus the holiness and smaller than humans as well.

Anyway, the Main Characters:

Lina and Leo. Twins. Castors. Immortal. They had gained their immortality after defeating a very powerful dragon together, the exact reasoning for gaining it was Pure Magic that they had discovered in doing so. Pure Magic is like a small pocket of very strong magic that has somehow clumped together. The reasoning for it clumping together is unknown and heavily debated. But that’s besides the point. Leo is King of his land, having worked his way up to there after he became immortal. But despite this is slowly making his kingdom more of a democracy than anything else.

You wouldn’t think Leo a king at first because he’s kinda overly friendly. Always happy, confident, excited for one project or another. He’s very full of life and seems as young as he looks (as he’s forever stuck at like 20). He’s also very pan and has had many relationships during his immortality, including multiple people at once. He’s also a very kind soul, doing whatever he can to help people. Despite all of this he has a tendency to be a bit cocky, sometimes full of himself. But he knows how powerful he is and won’t handle people not respecting that.

Now Lina. Lina is much quieter than her brother. While he’s taken to ruling, Lina has taken to recording. She’s taken to recording people’s stories, recording and observing history as it occurs. She helps individuals, traveling wherever she wants, meeting and befriending people along the way. She seems a bit colder, though really she’s just not as immediately friendly. She’s also the ultimate Mom Friend. I’ve giving her a bit of a sad history with others at times but it’s constantly changing as I’m developing things.

Now there’s one more immortal, Blair. She became immortal at a much later time than the twins, making her younger. She has recently risen to the throne of a kingdom of her own. Her backstory is a bit of a sad one. She’s a Fallen Winged, meaning she was banished from her home, wings taken from her. Being both bi and trans in a home very, well, strict in their views on that subject (at least at the times, since she had been banished things have improved), they were quick to kick her out. She spent times traveling, nothing else to do in her life. She started a search for Pure Magic, hoping to use it somehow to get her wings back. She does find it, but things went wrong and it granted her immortality instead. She’s a very rough person, very set in her ideals and a bit brash. She’s crude and aggressive but truly is trying to do good. She truly does care for those she’s trying to help. She’s just a poor misunderstood baby.

God this is getting long so I’ll try super short version of important mortal characters:

Ember. Castor with fire specifics. AFAB Bigender (she/he pronoun switches). Bi as fuck. Knight in Leo’s castle. Very loud and aggressive but fucking hilarious to be around. Think like. AH Michael in a way. Swears almost more than she says normal words. She doesn’t have much family but had met Lina when she was young. They’re good friends because of it and Lina is the reason Ember even became a knight. She also has a massive crush on Davy.

Davy. A girl siren who has gained legs with a run in with Pure Magic. A huge Gay. Very quiet, not just because she can’t speak. (Sirens can’t talk like people, can only communicate with their songs which imitate emotions. She and Leo have developed a sign language esc way of talking and Davy can write). She has one of the more tragic backstories which I think I’ve written somewhere before... Shy, studious. One of the sweetest things in the world. Has a crush on Ember.

Mikaängela. aka Angel. Winged. Pan af. Girl. She’s a very happy, friendly person. Always happy to meet everyone. Very nice to everyone she meets. She’s the messenger of Leo’s kingdom, travels places often. Makes friends everywhere. She left her home to see the world, also maybe because she just didn’t fit in as well with the rest of her family. It was never anything bad, never a horribly banishment or disowning. She just. Wanted something different from what they wanted and decided to make her own path. She’s just my happy character who everyone loves.

Caesar. Fae. (uses he/him pronouns tho). A HUGE Gay. One of Leo’s High Advisors. He’s a bit upidty, likes things organized, likes things neat. Very studious and quiet, keeps to himself but seems to have an air of authority around him. He can be sweet but you gotta dig through like three layers of cold and another layer of pretentious to see it. A bit fucked because of his massive crush of Leo, which is NOT ALLOWED (at least to him it isn’t. An Advisor shouldn’t have a crush on the King, that’s ridiculous)

Last one bc this is getting long. Quinn. Fae. They/them. The blacksmith of Leo’s kingdom. They’re tough, doesn’t put up with anyones shit, and would like to just be left alone to do their work. Though they also enjoy hanging out at taverns with the King and his friends. Dating two other people of which are not named or have any importance really. Considering making one of them the royal scientist who is a Troll girl. Is not named as of yet. Quinn is just for the great dialogue they have with the King, as they’re very informal around each other.
