i love space and she does too, so i based the layout (loosely) on an official space heroes comic cover i saved a while a ago (under the cut)

look at this and tell me it doesnt go hard. this is supposed to be for a knockoff series why did the creators put their budget into this masterpiece i am so upset there aren't more high quality covers available

ight so when drawing nova, i realised

despite watching 2012 tmnt from day 1 i never drew ANY of them

it is hard to pick names i completely forgot how difficult it is, i've been vibing with the same name for 4 years, sorry to everyone figuring out theirs

on the topic of names i was going to have her be 'Lenova' but it is apparently an obscure name and sounds too close to the 'lenovo' tech brand

uh last few things if i draw any propaganda for her in the competition there is a very real chance her design will change slightly due to the fact i have never drawn the 2012 hamato siblings + her design currently feels a little too minimal. i personally don't think she'd change much about her appearance but she'd do a little more than this

It’s that time again! Official sign ups are now open!

For those of you who are new, this is an art tournament dedicated to our favourite babygirl, transfem Leo! This isn’t a heavily competitive tournament, our intention and focus is to give everyone a chance and excuse to brag about their art and their take on transfem Leo, we’re keeping everything fun and friendly here!

Sign ups will be open for two weeks starting today (March 1 - March 15 edit; sign ups have been extended for an extra week! Ending on March 22!) Below, you’ll find our list of rules and criteria, as well as instructions on how to submit your work!

RULES

• Both digital and traditional art is allowed! And it can be anything from a plain sketch to a fully lined and coloured piece!

• We won't be allowing edits, but tracing from the official comics or cartoons is fine! (No tracing of fanart, even with consent)

• NO AI ART! Any AI submitters will be blocked and if art is discovered to be AI at any point in the tournament it will be immediately disqualified!

• All iterations and AUs are welcome!

• Your transfem Leo does not need to identify as female, use she/her pronouns, or be fem-presenting (as much as a turtle can present as any gender anyways). "Trans" in this case is using the umbrella term, and nonbinary identities fall under that! "Fem" here can mean feminine, female presenting, female identifying, or even just using she/her pronouns! (This can get a little tricky to use as a requirement because gender is fake but basically if you think your Leo belongs here then they most likely do)

• The art piece itself must obviously include and focus on our babygirl, but if you want to draw other characters with her you can!

• For those who participated in the first season of the tournament, as long as you didn’t make it to the finals or semi-finals, you can participate again with a new submission!

• No gore, nsfw, or tcest. We don't be promoting any bashing of these things though, DNIs are fine but any variation of "kys" is not okay. Trying to keep things clean and easygoing here!

• If you’re submitting something that is part of an AU that features a triggering topic (self harm, suicide, abuse, CSA, etc.), your submitted work can not contain these topics, and the post that your submission is linked to must contain a trigger warning in the post itself (not in the tags) for those who follow our links and may be interested in seeing more of your AU

• A link to the post with your art (so we can link to it during the tournament!)

• Your babygirl’s name (Leonardo, Lee, Leonora, etc.)

• Your babygirl’s pronouns (she/her, he/she, she/they, he/they, etc.)

EGG POLL: ROUND 1 PART 1 RECAP

the first half of round 1 was very competitive, with a few unexpected turnarounds! as always guys lets try to remember that this is just a silly competition for fun, and whoever ends up winning every headcanon here is awesome just by nature of making it into the tournament!

hunter vs tobias

this poll was a lot closer than expected, especially considering hunter was the #1 most submitted character! tobias had a really strong showing, especially with a lot of campaigning in the post tags, but in the end hunter pulled through. this result could suggest hunter is a lot weaker than initially thought though, will he make it to the next round?

gene vs neo

this one was also surprisingly competitive, with a lot of campaigning on both sides. gene got the most initial nominations so he was the expected winner, but neo is one of the most classic trans readings of a character, and got a lot of support from people who might not have thought of him originally! in the end neo pulled ahead. neo and hunter will certainly make an interesting match up next round!

ashe vs leonardo

ashe was one of the most interesting nominees to watch going in, as he ended up sweeping the nominations with 18 submissions! in the end though, the huge support for this headcanon among just roll with it fans couldn't offset the fandom's small size. but this was in no small part thanks to the tmnt fandom's rallying around leonardo! both of these characters got a huge amount of support, and we ended up with our first two pieces of amazing fanart! but if tmnt's success in the autism swag summit is any indicator, leo might be a competitor to watch going into future rounds!

rain vs finn

rain was another nominee with a size disadvantage going in. while ward fans did their best to rally, they couldn't beat finn, another character with an overall few number of submissions but who ended up winning from sheer popularity. ward fans took it in stride though, with some noting that rain losing in the first round might be the most in character outcome. we also got another great piece of fanart! finn did not get a lot of campaigning, definitely indicating he might be in danger in future rounds.

ralsei vs ken

this was a difficult one for me as i really love both of these headcanons! digimon fans presented some great arguments, but couldn't overcome the trans ralsei headcanon (which has years of support, pioneered by yours truly...) time will tell if deltarune fans can push this headcanon forward to other rounds! either way trans girl ken will surely live on in our hearts :)

sonic vs haruhi

this one was a pretty surprising upset! sonic was one of the most nominated characters, but got beaten out by haruhi who actually received zero direct nominations. sonic fans likely put more weight behind tails, which is overall a more popular headcanon. some argued haruhi is too textually trans to really be considered an egg (although by not being canon she still fits into the rules of this competition). this argument will surely come into play in future rounds though, and likely with mion vs lake in part 2 of this round!

luigi vs double d

another upset, although not the most surprising one. although luigi recieved a lot of support in the nomination round, fans overall decided this headcanon didn't hold up to scrutiny quite as well as double d, who is arguably(?) canon already (but still eligible according to tournament rules) i would not be surprised to see double d go even further in future rounds!

tails vs fuuta

this was another with a pretty obvious outcome from the beginning, with transfem tails being another super classic egg headcanon. fuuta didn't really stand much of a chance, with some fans calling it a popularity poll (this is just how seeding works guys, i'm sorry!) despite their smaller fanbase though, milgram fans showed a lot of support and provided evidence of their own. while egg fuuta will always live on, sonic fans may end up pushing even harder for tails in future rounds with sonic eliminated. only time will tell!

INTEREST CHECK

Our favourite trans turtle deserves some love, and we all deserve a chance to share our appreciation for her

I'm here to potentially host a bracket tournament for art of transfem Leo! Where anyone who draws our babygirl can submit their cutest Leo! She can be drawn specifically for this competition, or she can be one of your favourite drawings you've done for her at any point in the past!

(Though try not to worry too much about winning, we're mostly here to hype up our girl and give as many artists as possible a chance to show off!)

What I need to know is:

1. How many artists are interested in competing! Art doesn't need to be ready right this second if you want to draw for the tournament, but if the interest check succeeds don't wait too long! Because I don't think I'd be able to hold off starting the competition for any longer than a week!

2. How many other people are interested in voting!

If I can get at least 12 artists (minimum, maximum will be decided if we reach that point, but right now I can't think of a number I'd have to stop at) then the tournament is a go!
