how James and Willow became friends with each other: the headcanon

-Willow was shy at first and things were a bit awkward with one another when they were first hired. then one day James asked about the tv show compilation Willow was watching during break, and after getting the name out of her set out to watch a few episodes in order to be a bit more friendly with her. ended up watching the whole show. -when James talked to her about it during break she started rambling about how the show was her favorite and other aspects until she got self conscious and clammed up. and opened up again when James encouraged her to continue. despite it being her favorite show she had no one to talk to about it other than Jackie, due to her anxieties. -(the show in question is called "The Sugary and Natural Made", although fans tend to shorten it to "SugarNatural".) -at some point they started visiting each other's house and watch the show together as episodes aired live. then they just started hanging out and they talked about other things too. Happy Trans Day of Visibility! Here's an info post about some trans characters' identities, ft. a couple more revamps of older characters that I haven't mentioned yet. As with the Aro Week post, I'm including their ages to show the variety there.

Zhenya (21 y/o): AMAB demiboy; uses he/him, she/her and it/its pronouns; originally he just used he/she, but later added it/its because he doesn't mind being called that and also thinks it can be funny; he doesn't really use they/them, mostly because the Russian language doesn't have singular they and he wants to have the same pronouns in Russian and English.

Lev (early to mid 40s): trans man; uses he/him pronouns; being a woman didn't make him dysphoric, he had no strong feelings about it, but upon experimenting with his gender he discovered that he's explicitly happy being a man; though he had always been somewhat jealous of men's ability to have mustaches; he likes cats and has some catlike traits himself, so he chose the name Lev, which means "lion" in Russian; he encourages people to use his old name and pronouns when talking about his pre-transition self, viewing it as historically accurate and not wanting to "retcon" the past.

Luna (30 y/o): transfem non-binary; uses they/them and she/her pronouns and both neutral and feminine terms; their presentation is feminine; they did voice training and speak in a higher voice now; they chose the name Luna in large part because they love astronomy and everything to do with space, like planets, stars, etc.

Ginger (early 50s): trans woman; uses she/her pronouns; she didn't do voice training and still has a masculine voice; she discovered her identity slightly over a decade ago, after she was already married and had kids.

Sam (15 y/o): AFAB demigirl; uses she/her and they/them pronouns; her full name is Samantha, but she goes by Sam, liking that it's both short and gender-neutral.

Rufus (mid 50s): AMAB genderqueer/genderless; uses he/him pronouns and masculine terms; he describes himself as "a man, but in a genderless way, if that makes sense"; he presents androgynous or feminine; sometimes strangers mistake him for a trans woman and call him "ma'am" and he has to correct them.

Steven (early to mid 50s): trans man; uses he/him pronouns; he's masculine presenting, but sometimes wears nail polish; he named himself after a sports player he liked; he's the partner of Rufus and they have two biological children together.

Angelo (16 y/o): trans guy; uses he/him pronouns; his birth name was Angela and he liked the sound of it, so he just changed the last letter to make it masculine when choosing a new name.

Willow (15-16 y/o): non-binary; uses they/them and he/him pronouns; their presentation is butch/masculine.

Missy (32 y/o): genderqueer; uses they/them pronouns and neutral terms; they were raised female, but they have come to identify with the term genderqueer and feel more connected to it than they did to womanhood, in part influenced by their experiences as an intersex person.

Harley (mid 20s): transmasc genderfluid; uses they/them and ze/zir pronouns; they alternate between wearing a binder or a regular bra, and thus having either a flat chest or breasts, depending on their mood; while they're fluid between various genders, they also went through some masculinizing treatments.

Maggie (mid 30s): trans woman; uses she/her pronouns; fairly feminine in her presentation; she did voice training and normally uses a higher voice, but uses her natural deeper voice at times, like when doing a drill instructor impression.

Debi (early 20s): trans woman; uses she/her pronouns; she's butch in her presentation; she realized she was trans and was able to get care early, so her voice never got deep.

Kendall (30 y/o): bigender (female + male); uses she/her and he/him pronouns; goes both by Kendall and the nicknames Ken or Kenna, one masculine and one feminine respectively; sometimes she presents more feminine, other times he presents more masculine.

Iris (mid 30s): genderfluid; uses any pronouns; has an androgynous voice; they play around with their gender presentation a lot.

Hello! A while ago, I posted my LGBTQ+ headcanons for the arc 1 and arc 2 protagonists (I think arc 3 is still in my drafts). But since I made those, they have changed so I wanted to make one post with all protagonist headcanons together. The Owl House AU where Luz takes a lot longer to get to the Demon Realm. Everyone is grown up and in covens. Amity is in an arranged marriage to Hunter, and they both hate it.

Then Luz shows up, and they both fall for her.

Or: “Hey, my husband and I saw you from across the bar, and we hate each other’s vibes”

Some ideas:

Hunter is definitely pushing the max life expectancy for Golden Guards. This is helped in part by Amity being smart enough to figure out that every Golden Guard is the exact same height, build, and they all die young. Hunter doesn’t know the specifics, but he knows if Belos finds out he knows anything he would get killed. The two of them keep it a secret.

Hunter and Amity have separate bedrooms but a shared library. They’re good friends they just aren’t in love, and resent the artificiality of their marriage.

With Hunter running the Emperor’s Coven and Amity running Blight Industries, they don’t see each other very much outside of their house (Manor? Castle?)

Edric and Emira got disowned for tarnishing the family image (read: they ran away from Odalia’s abusive bullshit the literal second they turned 18). They couldn’t bring Amity with them, and Odalia made sure she couldn’t leave by getting her married to Hunter. Amity understands, and she’s glad they escaped, but she can’t honestly say she doesn’t hold some resentment for them, both for indirectly causing her arranged marriage and for leaving her behind.

None of the Grimwalkers had ever lived long enough to get proposed to, so Belos had no idea what to do about it. He signed off on it as a way to insure that Blight Industries was firmly under control. He secretly gets something of a kick out of trapping his brother’s grimwalker in a loveless marriage to a witch.

Because their marriage is basically an issue of national security / the Blight’s reputation, they have to keep up appearances as a couple. Odalia threatened the Twins, and Belos threatened Amity. Suffice to say, neither wants to fuck this up.

Speaking of the Twins, they ran away before they could get coven sigils. They do off the record healing for criminals fronted as a veterinary clinic. Edric is the public face, but it’s Emira’s illegal healing that keeps food on the table. Edric feels useless because of that.

Edric fronts in Beastkeeping and Emira in Healing, but since they don’t have sigils they can still do Illusion magic. They use that trick to fake sigils so they can operate semi-above board. They help Eda out on odd jobs / keeping the curse at bay with potions / babysitting King. Both dabble in potions enough to make the Boiling Isles equivalent of black market testosterone for Edric.

Edric is transmasc, and uses illusion magic to help with his image. It was that, coupled with Emira coming out as gay, that forced them to run away from Blight Manor.

I can’t decide if Hunter is out transmasc or transfem and hasn’t ever had the space to figure it out. On one hand if he’s transmasc there’s the angst of unsafe binding, and Luz gets a girlfriend and a boyfriend. On the other hand, if we go transfem there’s Amity helping her realize and helping with her gender expression while they’re in private, plus the angst of never being able to be out in public and the canon typical identity issues.

Willow graduated in the abomination track, but with Gus’s help managed to avoid getting a sigil. She studies plant magic in secret, and got a  concealment stone from the Twins that makes it look like she has an Abomination sigil so she doesn’t get arrested. Because she can’t use the magic she’s actually good at without getting busted, she got a job with the twins in their clinic working the counter. Since the veterinarian service is run at a loss to give plausible deniability to the back ally emergency room / hrt dealer, it’s basically a charity case. She tries to help out wherever she can so she doesn’t feel like dead weight.

Gus and Mattolomule are dating.

Alador is still overworked making abominations, but Amity tries to make it easier on him.

Hunter has Flapjack. He just stumbled onto the Bat Queen while on a patrol and Flapjack stuck with him.

Terra is dead. She got super old and Raine pushed her off a ledge. I don’t know who the new plant coven head is. New plant coven head smokes pot

LOSING MY MIND OVER TRANS HUNTER

because. because the gender of it all. like transfem or transmasc hunter have wildly different paths and not just in terms of expression

like. like transmasc hunter would be adored (as close as you can get to 'adoration' from belos 🤢) because belos is like 'oh good he's not "betraying" me by "choosing" to look different' (quotation marks because although transphobia doesn't exist on the boiling Isles, belos is still a Freak) and he gets very invested in hunter's transition to the point where hunter looking like caleb is as much of an occasion as hunter getting his staff

whereas with transfem hunter,,,,,,,,,, sweet baby angel darling You Are In For A Ride. actually i feel so bad for her oh my god. like, belos Would Not Be Having It, but there's really no reason he could use to justify his disdain for it (especially when gender kings darius and eber Are Right There)

so i feel she and belos settle on they/them for now, but it's definitely a point of tension between them both. gets the same reaction as talking about wild magic except belos can't say 'gender killed our family'

and when willow says it in earshot of darius he goes 'see you at the castle, little princess?' to test the waters AND THE LOOK OF PURE JOY ON HUNTER'S FACE,,,,,, i am actually tearing up just thinking about her i love her so much

anyway back to transmasc hunter. And Uh. post-hollow mind Is Not Good. before all of this hunter had been really secure in his gender but now he can't even look in the mirror without getting terrified. because he made this 'choice' didn't he? he 'chose' to look like this random dead guy and now he's a 'willing' symbol of belos' evil.

from this point onwards, transmasc hunter has a MASSIVE struggle with his gender. he doesn't want to detransition, but he definitely doesn't want to be anything like caleb.

i can see him drifting towards they/them pronouns and neos, and fucking with xyr gender as hard as possible (this is the start of their hawaiian shirt arc, much to darius's dismay and raine's joy). just,,, they have to rebuild their identity from the ground up. but they have their friends

transfem hunter, on the other hand, is having the time of her life. she and the kids go dress shopping! eda gives her eda's old makeup box! darius sits and paints their nails!!!!! HE CALLS HER HIS DAUGHTER!!!!!!!!!!! RAINE CALLS HER THEIR NIECE!!!
