2, 6, and 17 for either Jan or Marion? (or both!)
Ty for the ask, Skylar! I'll do both!
2. How long was the process before the character reached its final version? (or a version that would be clearly recognizable as the character?)
Hm, I honestly don't think any of my characters are their final versions. They're still constantly shifting, gaining and losing traits.
Marion spent half a year or so just being a force of evil in the background of Juliette's story, and then when I played her, my roleplay partners got fond of her VERY quickly, so she got more evolution than other characters in a shorter time, haha. She also used to go by they/she, and sort of still does, but I'm tired of people thinking they can use he/him for her and that's a totally understandable repeated slipup, so it's she/her exclusively now :V
Jan is the character I play the most, so they get put through all of my phases and obsessions like a well loved sweater. They're being a knight right now. I don't think I'll ever stop messing with and adjusting their character to be as fun to write as possible, though I do fuss about keeping their development consistent on page in Particle Decay.
6. What was the thought process behind their appearance? Did you go mostly for the aesthetic or are there other reasons they look the way they do?
Marion was based on snails. I wanted her to look small and unassuming, so it's more of a surprise that she's the one pulling the strings. Letting her hair hang into her eyes is just an aesthetic choice though, and her lime/pink color scheme also developed over time as an aesthetic thing.
Jan is bird/bird cage based, which is something that's really only visible in the metal in their ears and their wispy hair anymore, haha. They're way more panther/wolf/dog themed nowadays. The rest about them, like the sleeveless turtlenecks, is just aesthetics and/or because I think it's cool, and lends an interesting contrast to how much of a loser they are.
17. Are there any motifs or symbols associated with the character? How are they represented, in their design, personality or in some other way?
Oh. I guess I answered that already. 😅
Marion is a snail that withdraws from the world, one of those highly deadly cone snail ones. She's also a cat, playing with her prey and making moves that catch you by surprise with how smart they can be. Her colors are lime green and pink, and I often draw her with stars and smileys.
Jan is a caged bird, caged by others and themself, trying to restrain something that wants to fly free. They're also a dog, searching for a warm home and someone by whose side they can stand in exchange for an idea of what the hell to do and how to act. They're also a panther because, well. You'll see. But they certainly have a strong prey drive. Their colors are black and red and all monochrome edge with very little decorations or symbols.

(new) Pinned post!
Hi all, I'm blazing-butterfly, you can call me BB or Blaze or whatever other nickname fits (just never call me mommy). Huge nerd and aspiring writer, posting and reblogging whatever I like with very little filter.
I have a sideblog for villainess yuri princess hornyposting and related self-indulgence at @hail-the-villainess.
You can find me on AO3 as Butterphoenix, I haven't posted much there yet but I'm hoping to work up the nerve >///<
Filter for less stress: #us politics // #cw transphobes // #transmysoginy // #puritan bullshit
Search for my favorite stuff (in no particular order): #saving // #hope // #villainess yuri // #lesbian vampires // #living weapon // #kink // #robot girl // #tokusatsu // #toy design // #game design // #story ideas // #my writing // #about myself
Yet more info below the cut:
Like the description says, I use she/her pronouns, I'm over 21, trans lesbian on the asexual spectrum (homoromantic aegosexual if you're into microlabels) but also into kink as a domme. Sometimes I'll post horny here, so please no minors following me! I'm also polyamorous, not open to new relationships at this time, but if you're respectful we can chat flirty or maybe RP. I'll make a separate post about my NSFW interests, uh... when I get around to it.
I struggle with anxiety and depression, and likely some combination of ADHD, bipolar and autism. I'm also pretty shy and introverted, so it's really hard for me to initiate or keep conversations going, and I just cannot do small talk. But I promise I'm friendly and actually love talking to people, so please reach out to me if you want! This also means I'll often want to do something but take a long time to actually do it, so try not to be weirded out if I suddenly pick back up something we were talking about ages ago.
I'm also a huge nerd about all kinds of things! Aside from the favorites I list above, I also love fantasy and scifi, real science and history, yuri/GL fiction (sapphiction?), puns and wordplay, writing, games of all kinds, analyzing media, cute animals... honestly the list of things I like goes on and on! Yet somehow I rarely end up getting into the big popular media that seemingly everyone else is into, so a lot of fandom goes right over my head.
I don't believe a DNI list will actually stop anyone from interacting with me, which is why I haven't bothered listing out every bad thing I'm against, but I've had a few annoying encounters with the groups in my hostile list so I wanna make it clear they're not welcome here.
Anyway, that's all I can think to say right now. Nice to meet you!

ugh, i hate seeing transphobic shit, especially masked by feminism, like you can be mad about something without misgendering a large portion of my community, bioessentialism is gross

Bob's burgers is a gross transmisogynist show anyway so who the fuck even cares about it.
Are there times in the show where problematic jokes are used? Yeah.
Could the show do better? Yeah.
Is it just gross transmisogyny and not worth giving a shit about? Hell no!
Take this exchange:
Linda: I predict the next person through that door will be tall, dark and handsome.
*Marshmallow, a transfeminine person of color and recurring character on the show walks into the restaurant.*
Linda: See, I was right!
Bob: Marshmallow isn’t handsome… she’s beautiful.
Marshmallow: Blush! *smiles*
Given the standards by which popular media treats us trans women, I think Bob’s Burgers does a pretty ok job at not being offensive. You’re entitled to your opinion, and I’d never try and get someone to watch it if they find it harmful to their mental health, but saying it isn’t even worth caring about/trying to make others feel bad for liking it isn’t ok.

Mind me asking? I'm a trans person myself, I recognise and celebrate my trans siblings identities and will fight anyone that says that trans people do not belong in feminism. However, I can recognise that some people just aren't attracted to certain genitals. A woman can have a penis, but some people, while truly seeing this person as a woman, just are not sexually attracted to said penis. How does this constitute as a TERF viewpoint? Not trying to start something, I just want to hear your side.
I addressed this in another ask.
The problem isn’t that she didn’t want to have sex with a penis. The problem was that she was writing off trans women as romantic partners because they are trans. This reduces trans women to their genitals, and ignores that some trans women undergo surgery.
When you ask someone out, you don’t pause and go “Oh wait, what genitals do you have?”
It doesn’t come up until you start talking about sex. And then you can just say “Oh, I don’t like sex with penises.” and then not have sex. You can have a romantic relationship without it. And if you decide that you need it, then you can have a discussion and choose to break up or open your relationship, whatever the choice may be.
As trans people, it’s our job to protect the most vulnerable among us. Trans women get the brunt of transphobia. They are the most targeted. We must prioritize them.
I will not address this any further. There are too many other people needing help for me to keep rehashing this.

Though it might be worth mentioning that I’m pretty sure she has deleted those screenshotted posts (not sure about twitter though.) She follows a lot of cryptos but the only posts by them she likes tend to be the usual “kill all men” “kink is actually sexual violence” SWERF type stuff. She’s obsessed with Dworkin, and for all her weirdness Dworkin still wrote that trans people should be supported.
Anyway, she’s PROBABLY a terf, but she hasn’t said anything outright transphobic in years, so right now I’m waiting for her to either be like “yeah I’m chill with trans ppl now” or to double down, and I think it’s probably going to be the latter. I’m not hopeful
Do you have proof of Buttess being a TERF? Specifically in relation to the “TE” part of that—i.e., not the Dworkin quote. /gen
