I HATE remembering a fic and just being completely unable to find it. Was it deleted??? Am I using the wrong tags?? Why doesn't A03 let you use tags to search your history ??? (Please please add this it would be so nice)

I have no way to find this fic and it's been living in my head for nearly 3 weeks now and it's driving me mad. Like ready to fight the sun mad. I can't even remember who wrote it and I only remember the plot and the last line and I'm going crazy

Anyways incase anyone does recognize the fic it's a Trash of the counts family fic. Basically Cale tells the truth about his trasmigration to Ron but says it a little too bluntly and there are misunderstanding. Basically they think he got like a bunch of memories of his past life not that he was someone else. It goes around the cast and ends with Deruth shouting "My son WHAT" or something close to that. It also may have been the title but I'm not sure.

Cale being genuinely kind and wanting what is best for himself and for the people he cherishes as friends, family and loved ones, but I want him to unleash hell on those that are his enemies. Let him hunt them down callously, sending hounds after them for they are not worthy of being a dragon's prey- and let them witness their last moments alive by promising to hand deliver their remains to their families.

In the end, he doesn't even keep that promise of his. They shouldn't have dared to trust him.

Leaning his cheek on the palm of his hand, he watches them breathe their last and whispers low and sweet in their ears, "I changed my mind. What better gift to give your family, than the bright hope that you may still be alive somewhere? Let them wait... until they forget."

He keeps watch over them as they claw desperately in the dirt, tears spilling over, cursing him as blood-filled spittle runs down their chin before failing to move again. there's nothing I love more about lcf than the fact that almost all of the main characters are survivors and how it seriously engraves into you, again and again, the importance of being alive FIRST. It's so refreshing to see an mc who prioritizes safety more than anything else, who won't push past the limits.. like serious limits of everyone just for the sake of winning(now if cale can also do this and walk his talk, it would be perfect.. but that wouldn't make him the cale that we all know and love). it provides you with this mentality that retreating doesn't mean immediate failure, and that there will always be another chance to try again. that one closed door doesn't imply a dead end but a chance to open an alternative path. it's such a simple message and yet we humans tend to forget it when we're facing adversities, a lot of times we're convinced we're forced to make self-destructive decisions... cale would prob have plans A to Z but there would never be a single one among them that has the possibility of him losing anyone even himself. so yes!! being alive is the best!!

Cale was extremely confused—who the hell were you? why were you here? did you know about the ancient powers? Why did you need a boat?

Cale but his spice tolerance is fucking ridiculous

Beacrox is trying to perfect a spicy recipe and Cale wants to taste so he lets him with a warning that it's pretty spicy

Cale tries it anyway and doesn't make a face, doesn't to that breathing inwards thing or anything. He nonchalantly puts his spoon down and is like- "Pretty good, could use some more spice though."

And Beacrox, bless his heart, has to do a double take. Like- "?????"

He'd let others try samples and they were suffering for at least 30 minutes

His young master, who detests sour things and has a sweet tooth, said he wants more chili flakes???

Not what he was expecting but oh well-

So like those fics where the children want Beacrox and Cale to have a cook-off, Raon picks the spicy category

He hears Cale whispering to himself "okay mild spices" and thinks nothing of it.

Once they're done, Cale's dish is inedible to everyone but Choi han

It looks delicious and everyone wanted to try some but after bud tried it first and almost died they've been rightfully nervous-

Like, I get it: "it's a story and blah blah blah it doesn't matter in story or in the plot!", but realistically if my child brought home a random man while hammered I would be very concerned.

I was reading through the TCF's novel's reviews and I'm laughing hysterically to myself because are we reading the same book?

I understand if you dropped it early and I won't blame you, but what people really needs to understand it's that Trash of the Count's Family is the very definition of a slowburn.

Yes, I'll admit the novel's long as hell and maybe that's not for everyone, but what counters it is the very worldbuilding and character development. It's slow, but it's so smooth and vast and profound.

There's so few stories with a worldbuilding as complete and detailed as this one; the arcs are just cinematographic masterpieces and so well detailed I could practically imagine the scene in my head in HD (Specially when shit starts hitting the fan in vol. 1, readers will know what I'm talking about); and the character development is smooth and progressive for a lot of the many, MANY side characters TCF has and so very well written you can't help but sympathise and cheer for them all.

I found that you have to have patience reading this book because a lot happens, all the time, but eventually everything just clicks together with an unnerving amount of sense if you give it enough time to develop. You just have to be patient and you definitely will be rewarded.

I do read some krs!Cale-centric fanfiction but when it come to LCF 'canon'-verse, I avoided E-rated and shippy ones and I don't usually bookmarked them

It's hard to find one to my liking because most M-rated and T-rated ones still with ships and s3xual content while there are few with those rates because of the theme or gore or language but most are not, so...

I like the light read ones, but most of the times I just want to read the heavy ones that without ships but those are so rare...

Idk whether you, @grumpywiltedlettuce, already read them or not but these are the one I like the most!!

I have enjoyed some of the TCF reaction fics, but I feel like there's a major problem.

Namely, that it's really hard for fic writers to stay motivated for over 700+ chapters, so it feels like they all start off strong for the beginning (especially rescuing Raon) and then peter out. We never get to the really good stuff.

Never reach that flashback when Cale reads the letter from the GoD, or see reactions to Choi Han rushing over to see Kim Rok Soo after getting Choi Jung Soo's records. Never have them see the Sealed God's test, and really... Post-apocalyptic Korea horrified Alberu, for good reason. Not that it's explicitly stated, but when is it ever? He had quite the reaction when he was trying to decide what to tell everyone else.

I've had some thoughts on how I would do it, but fair warning - I'm not much of a writer, and will probably never write it. All my respect for the ones that regularly write fanfic because I have like - less than a handful? Maybe, maybe, if I haven't moved on after finishing this reread, I'll try writing it myself.

The other thing is that I've been reading part 2 - only as far as eatapplepies has translated as I find mtl more confusing than helpful - and I'm really liking the Heavenly Demon. He seems to have fallen for our Cale pretty hard, and I'm interested in seeing how that goes.

So I have been playing around with ideas.

First - Dodam is trying to find 'that terrible bastard', and is dragging around his Choi Han.

He reaches Korea. Og!Cale as KRS, specifically. He has his own attribute, one to help him track down Cale, so he can pull up visions/memories related to that.

He pulls up the dream meeting between Cale and KRS.

There are a few team 1 members present, particularly Kim Minh Ah. Cue a bit of chaos, some 'aha' moments, and the long and the short of it is Dodam is going to pull up some of just what they're team leader is up to. (And if Dodam can figure out exactly which world or dimension to to next, and OG! Cale gets the bittersweet ability to see how his deal with the God of Death prevented the destruction he'd lived through, well... That's fine too)

During that brief moment, the Henituse noticed some strange mana fluctuations and managed to get Rosalyn there. She's basically able to tap into the feed and see and hear what's going on.

And divine intervention (like perhaps a god of love) extends the feed to the Heavenly Demon.

What would follow would be an abbreviated version of the key points. Sure, it loses some of the flavor... But we don't actually need, say, the amusing anecdote where an elf mistook Cale for a dragon.

Anyways, the more I thought about it the more I thought about how team 1 would react.

Because the minute they see those monster statues you know they'll all be going 'what the fuck?!?'

They will probably also nod knowingly at some of Cale's more shocking plans. Like hey, there he goes agreeing to help the Mogoru Empire put out the fire he started with the Whipper kingdom.

Just like he did when they were dealing with that one corrupt guild

And if they ever get as far as seeing the Heavenly Demon, I'm sure one team member will be like 'Is.. is he flirting with Team Leader-nim?!?'

Cue stories where Team Leader Kim Rok Soo avoided a honeypot - except now they're thinking maybe he was just too dense to notice?

Imagine everyone just shouting in shock when he drops a cookie and immediately squats down, looks at it for 2 seconds, and then pops it into his mouth.

After that??? They watch him like hawks because he's basically a toddler putting random things into his mouth... Like you can't tell me his old habits wouldn't kick in sometimes and he wouldn't dig up some random wild carrot or smth and just smack some dirt off before taking a bite. Ron would literally have to take it away.. and you know the little kid thing where the parents dust the dirt off the kids hands and stuff?? That.

Cale: I don't get why you guys are so against leaving me alone??? I'm grown .

Man, I wonder how it'll feel like for an aro/ace person to suddenly be thrown into an otome game, or one of those romance fantasy isekais. Like damn, that'll be all levels of awkward and horrifying, but I want to see one where they just nail all the platonic routes. Why can't people simply exist as good friends regardless of gender? ╮(￣～￣)╭

This thought was inspired by seeing so many fics of Otome AU feat. Cale from TCF. Now don't get me wrong, I love them, but I can't see him having a special relationship with someone, not when there's such major found family platonic vibes.

Also, that guy's denial and inability to comprehend people liking him that way is possibly bigger than his workaholic tendencies, not to mention he doesn't seem like the type to ever give romance a second thought. Guy's already a single mom to... How many kids?

I must say tho, other than the romance aspect, Cake really seems to fit the Otome protagonist to a T (plus minus the tragic backstory and traumatic *waves* everything), just going around fixing all the problems, attracting 'flies' everywhere and causing misunderstandings. Atp I don't even know what I'm saying anym. Anyways I think I also just described like half the Korean novels out there, or maybe I just have a specific type.

Tldr; Cale is aro/ace (tbh the novel barely even touches on romance, which I am quite happy about), he deserves all the love in the multiverse, and we stan his one-sided pining of slacker life-chan
