and here’s some more exciting news to share with you, we won the FIRST place for #mango (ghottam) @konkan_fruit_fest Ghottam are the local wild varieties of mangoes, exceptionally sweet, very fragrant and each variety has a unique flavour. Most Goan homes have a wild mango tree, now on the decline as they are being cut down to make space. We are the third generation having these fruits, so our tree is probably more than a 100 years at the least. The only way to eat these #mangoes is to tear of a bit at one end, suck up all the juicy flesh first, then tear open the mango and dig in. Messy and delicious. The condition of fallen radhachura trees on the boundary walls of our house. With the municipality not doing any private house works now, getting labourers to cut down fallen trees is a daunting task. This has resulted in feuds between neighbours as they seek to cut down the fallen trees without seeking permission. Amidst this #cycloneamphan chaos I went to take the last photographs of this tree which have been a solace to me. Seeing it in this state for the last couple of days from my balcony felt like I am living with a corpse. So, when the final preparations are being made I came down to take one last look. You lived gently my dear and served many. You served many a bulbuls and woodpeckers - and a woman broken and depressed. I am sorry I couldn't do that for you.
