what is a mtg color combination(or single color if you prefer) that you generally find unfun to play against in commander, and 3 or so commanders/general deck themes in that color/colors that you've nevertheless rather enjoyed playing against?
hmm i dont tend to find paritcular color combinations inherently anoyinfg to play against. the closest is simic+ valuesalop commanders who i find boring to play against because theyu offer absolutely no texture to the game in the way that almost any other commander would. but yknow those are bad because theyre draw card put land placeholder simic face commandre text rather than just because of their colours. honeslty if theres any color id i think makes for worse decks its 5c because it opens the gates to sooo many generic value pieces. but i still like playing against 5c decks that are fun and textured and not just like kenrith goodstuff. one of my friends has a really funny ramos dragon engine deck that runs every single three-color charm which leads to some really fun gameplay

would you recommend reading naruto? i'm beginning to want context for the various konoha plots and shenanigans that befall you so very often
Since the dawn of time, humans have wondered :  should you read Naruto? Many people's answer (cowards) was a flippant  "don't watch Naruto". I think we can do better.
I think the way to ensure everyone has a good time is to make a list of why people watch naruto and what is enjoyable abt it or not and let you decide for yourself if you should watch it or not. This is not a review of naruto or an opinion piece on whether it is good or not.
Let's start with the bad parts :)
-Kishimoto's politics. Without too much spoiler, most of the bad parts of the system in Naruto will in fact just stay as is.
-The animation. Studio Pierrot does its job and there are some genuinely really good moments but i won't try and sell you Naruto on its animation. It's fine.
-The story. Kishimoto's politics and writing capabilities simply could not handle a story going on for more than 10 years lol!
Reasons people watch or read Naruto anyway:
-Shonen brain. It is genuinely very fun to see characters use powers of escalating magnitude to fight against each other with cool sounds and visuals and strategies. Many fights in naruto are great to watch, including those at the end too. I believe you are a touhou enjoyer ? i think you will like this. yippe adrenaline etc. the fights are good in the manga as well.
-The art. This is especially relevant if you're going to read it instead of watch as your ask suggests, the art in naruto is lovely! It's very endearing to see the evolution of it too, from the earlier more scratchy scrappy style to the more polished. It's a very idk... balanced type of art? just enough lines.
-The music. This is only relevant if you decide to watch it but the music really is so so good and iconic. And of course the endings and openings....
-Worldbuilding. Many fun settings and lore :)
-The characters. There are abt 56435675867 gajillions characters and groups of people and you Will find someone to get attached too.
-Of course, the most important part of any work that people get involved with, its actual badness. Some vague notion of "potential" gets people invested, and they start posting when that potential doesn't get realised. This potential can start from nostalgia, investment in a character who never gets developed, hope that kishi would have better politics or a better ending, trying to correct things, or just the desire to explore a world you like! Naruto functions best as a sandbox, which is the conclusion of this post I guess. If you would like to get involved, you will probably like it. If not, probably not. Hope this helps :)

i cant muster up the energy to watch any more of the anime that came out today or answer my inbox questions but i CAN make up more girlie fighters. and im going to address the things one of my asks is talking about for these ones so i dont have to do it after. also going to mark each as "M" or "NM" for Magical/Nonmagical because its relevant for one of these characters. @treesurface if u wanna turn these into proper characters be my guest<3
Euphrasia, Spirit of Adventure (NM) - Euphrasia is a tall, androgynous human with shoulder-length brown hair with a streak of green in it in the front that matches their eyes. they wear a long brown duster-type coat and fight with twin swords. their standard attacks are quick and short-range, but they can combine the swords into a double-bladed staff for powerful longer-range attacks, and they can use it as a thrown weapon for actual ranged strikes. so a kind of stance fighter, i guess? block is omnidirectional when in staff mode and a directional counter in swords mode. their attack names evoke freedom and adventure, referencing the wind often, and their Instant Kill "A New Adventure Together" is a series of fast-paced strikes that leave the opponent on the ground, and then they reach out and say 'hey, lets do something more fun' and then a bunch of postcards of different stages with them posing collage on the screen.
The Hand, Death's Emissary (NM) - a dark, hooded figure with a small raven perched on their shoulder. their face is obscured in shadow and they carry a massive, rusted broadsword that they drag behind them and use as a glorified club (its quite dull). slow movement and attacks, and they can use the raven to deal damage from afar as a kind of puppet. if the raven is killed (takes two or three hits) they receive a buff that increases speed and damage for the rest of the fight. they have rush attacks featuring their other companion, a bull covered in (or made of? visually unclear) rusted plates of metal. omnidirectional block. their attack names reference the goddess of death that they serve and concepts of futility and destiny, and their Instant Kill "My Lady's Will" uses the bull to gore the enemy and throw them to the ground. the heavens open and light and feathers shine down on the opponent, but the light is a dark, ominous purple and the feathers are black. the hand steps over the opponent and they can see a face under their hood. it's their own face. then they stab them.
Varil, Witch Slayer (NM) - Varil is a hulking creature like a massive, hunched-over old woman in a tattered cloak. she wears a mask made of bark with holes carved for eyes and a smile. her withered arms and cruel, black fingernails extend from her sleeves and hold a long spear. her attacks are slow, but the spear has a sweet spot mechanic if you hit at the end of the strike. she also has claw attacks. her primary gimmick is that she takes less damage from magic and can store it to power up her attacks or launch ranged attacks. omnidirectional block. her attack names typically evoke old grandma things like quilts and tea and strawberry bushes (and snakes, shes a fan of snakes), but her powered up attack names are centered around vengeance and reclamation. her Instant Kills are both grapples. for normal characters it's "Made Just For You", where she grabs them and says 'ive had enough of this, havent you? let's have tea instead. i'll brew a fresh pot just for you' and then youre suddenly in her creepy shack in the woods and she's brewing a suspicious tea and stirring it with what is clearly a magic wand she pulled from a jar full of assorted wands, some of which are bloodstained. she pours a cup for both of you and you drink it, terrified but more afraid of disobeying. but its good and you have a nice chat and the atmosphere lightens! but for magic characters, its "Silent Once More", and she grabs them and just crushes them to death in her arms, then she goes and has tea by herself, smiling at the sound of the birds outside.
Isekai DLC (spoilers for if i ever go back to write more of this):
Accidental Hero, Luna (NM, becomes M) - Luna is a tall trans woman (very important that whoever does her voice is trans) wearing light metal armour over ripped up, bloody jeans and a similarly damaged hoodie. she fights with a sword and shield, and her movements are kind of panicky and unrefined. Once you deal about half the enemy's hp, or fill a meter or something, you can transform into her second form, which has nicer, longer hair, more boobs, and better-fitting armour. her attacks become more powerful as she knows how to fight, and she gains access to ranged earth magic attacks and magically empowered sword strikes. directional block that becomes a magic-based counter after transformation. her basic attack names reference her novice skill level and her unfamiliarity with the new world she's found herself in, and her upgraded attack names are confident and strong-willed. her Instant Kill is "Another Accident", a very purposeful strike that slays the enemy and sends them to meet the god of perfection, a humanoid made entirely out of light sitting at a booth at a hibachi restaurant, who annoyedly does some paperwork and sends the enemy to live in another world since their death is legally considered a heavenly accident.
Maya's Masterpiece, Robot Boyfriend (NM) - Robot Boyfriend is a large, blocky construct made out of shining steel. he has wide, flat shoulders, upon which rides his creator and controller, Maya, a cheerful black half-dwarf with thick, curly hair done up like two floppy bunny ears above her head who wears an orange shirt under blue overalls. robot boyfriend can't speak or act independently because he is just a big hunk of metal with magic circuits inlaid into his joints, so they control as one character. they have heavy standard attacks, but also a bunch of fun ones like the robot's arms spinning like a helicopter that hits multiple times, and rocket punches, and some momentary transformations by moving block pieces around, and it can launch into the air with rocket boosters on its feet. not for very long tho. omnidirectional block just using the robot's arms. their attack names are fun cutesy things like 'Go, Rocket Punch!' and some of them make references to going on dates with the robot. her Instant Kill, "Let's Finish This!", is Maya standing triumphantly on robot boyfriend's shoulders and pointing towards the enemy, and the robot transforms into a sort of f-zero style rocket car and careens into them, launching them into the sky. She points again, and the robot transforms into an enormous sniper rail gun, which Maya aims at the falling enemy (one eye closed, the other looking through a dbz-scanner-style eyepiece, and tongue out the side of her mouth in concentration) and then she fires it. the rail collides with the enemy in a big explosion that isnt possible chemically speaking.
Slacker Sister, Norn (M) - A nun whose robes are lined with gold in a similar style to Valyrie's priest(ess) outfit. her black bangs stick out from her habit, her posture is far too casual, and she enters the match smoking a cigarette, which she puts out on her shoe and stores in her pocket for later. she primarily attacks with light/holy magic at range, but she can do disengage attacks that use melee-range light magic and move her away from the opponent. she has high, floaty jumps and quick movement speed. her light magic is mostly things like spears of light that she launches, and her holy magic is called down from the heavens in beams. she has no special block, but can instead perform a heal over time. her attack names all have a kind of air of like, disinterested teenage rebellion infused into their religious language. her Instant Kill, "God's Everlasting Peace Or Whatever", features her praying solemnly, and then the heavens open up and hundreds of divine beams tear the enemy to shreds while she leans up against a wall out of sight for a smoke.
Multiversal Mage, Thalia (M) - Lia alt! this is a visibly younger lia with less fancy robes and no staff. i think i said base lia has a staff right? well she does. she plays much more like a normal mage in this incarnation, using earth, water, and ice magic (but not interchangeable between spells like her base form). Using consecutive attacks of a certain type allows her to build up Spheres of that material, which orbit her head, and you can use them to unleash a homing strike that hits as many times as she has spheres (up to 6). using a different kind of magic removes all previously collected spheres, and enemy attacks can break one sphere at a time if they hit the 'halo'. earth spells are slow and powerful, water spells have knockback or slow effects, and ice spells are quick and sharp. her block depends on what kind of spheres she has, and she cant block without a sphere. earth is omnidirectional, water is omnidirectional and pushes back, and ice is a directional counter. each one adds a sphere when struck (one per attack, regardless of how many hits the attack does). her attack names reference the new magic of an unfamiliar, exciting world. her Instant Kill, "Mage's Frontier", swamps the enemy in muddy water and freezes it in place, with spires of ice and stone coiling around them. Dozens of spheres of all three kinds float up, as well as one massive sphere of whatever type of sphere you had at casting, and the small ones pelt the enemy before the big one crushes them completely.
Heavenly Gaolbreaker, the Witch of Ascension (M) - the Witch of Ascension is a woman with jagged, dirty red hair and a mad look in her eyes. She wears a brown set of tattered robes and hat, and manacles with broken chains dangle from her wrists. her spells are astronomical in both scale and aesthetic, though positioning is important for ranged attacks. her melee spells strike with conjured stars (round, fiery, rather than pointed cartoon ones), and her long range spells are things like comet or meteor strikes, planet rings thrown as returning discs, etc. She can create nebula clouds that slow enemies inside them and she can cause planets to orbit around her at specific distances. omnidirectional block using planet rings around her. Her attack names are deeply arrogant and chuuni, referencing the stars and the heavens and ascending to the realm of the gods by her own power. Her Instant Kill, "Witness to the End of All Things", initiates a supernova of multiversal proportions in the distance. She tears a hole in space and time and leaps through it, leaving behind a little etoile doll. the enemy watches the approaching wall of exploding stardust in horror, while the doll puts a hand to its chin and watches the enemy. the camera zooms in on and into the doll's eye, where the Witch is watching the events on a TV screen from a fancy couch. She grabs the remote and turns it off just as the enemy's face begins to melt.

On the floor, crying, begging, ive been searching and searching for anything about creating or trying to create an origami anurognathus. This man is so SO so shaped, it feels like it should be Impossible that theres Nothing origami'd about him- and yet i can find Nothing. My one hope is that someone more involved in the origami world might know more than i can find. Have you ever seen any patterns or models related to anurognathus or even just similarly shaped..?
Wow this guy sure has an incedible shape.... pug dino. I haven't been able to find an anurognathis model exactly either but! From what I see the main difference from other more common pteroaurs is the aforementioned pug like flat face. As such I think you moight be able to modify some other winged dino models? I've selected some under the cut If anyone want to chime in with more ideas please do :) @treesurface I know has folded some ancient guys, and perhaps @cctinsleybaxter has smth in his cambrian park
this quetzal already has a fairly flat face and a short stubby tail. I don't know if the short legs could be lengthened though
dimorphodon models already have a flatter rounder face, I think gomez's model especially could be modified a bit to be closer to your guy
this archeopterix has too big a wingspan but it's usually easier to make things smaller than bigger. The neck to head ration is closer than the dimorphodon earlier

more girlie fighter characters
bc why not. its so fun. plus if im ever famous my fans can come read these posts and design a fighting game in my honour. my game designer @treesurface will shape these into something usable later lmao
Base Characters:
Adela, the Chained Dog - Corpse version of Adela, whose reins are held by Valyrie! Valyrie is largely the same as her base incarnation, but without the ability to boost her damage. Damage is made up for with Adela, who lacks her signature gear. Instead, she crawls on all fours like a horrible monster and attacks animalistically. Her attacks deal a combination of light and dark damage. Their block is just valyrie pulling on her collar and forcing her into the way of attacks, which doesn't deal damage. Despite being named Adela, the actual character who takes damage is Valyrie, so its her you're supposed to hit. Their Instant Kill is a grotesque grapple where adela wraps around them and pulls them into her ribcage, and valyrie stabs them through the heart with a burst of holy magic.
Wren - Mel's little apprentice! she's basically just a smaller, weaker, more excited version of Mel with easier dodge timing. She doesn't get the scars Mel gets, and she obviously doesnt have a dragonfire wound, but she makes up for it with a small off-hand defender she can use to block attacks. i imagine this would be used in place of the ability Mel has to take a hit for reduced damage, so Wren would take no damage. She still has to play aggressively, of course. Her Instant Kill would be doing some Shadow of the Colossus shit to her opponent to get up onto their shoulders and then stabbing them in the eyes with both blades. for shorter characters the animation just looks really stupid and has the same effect.
The Navigator - a second Actual Boy character. He's a blue tiefling-style pirate who removes his vest before the match to reveal his body is covered in silver tattoos of constellations, which glow when he uses magic. It also reveals jagged, obviously unprofessional top surgery scars. He wields a curved cutlass for melee attacks, water magic for shorter-range attacks, and long-range starfall-type spells. his block summons a sphere of water around him, and for his Instant Kill he hits the opponent with a star that launches them out of the map and onto a ship, which the goddess of the seas sinks to a watery grave.
Theocracy DLC Characters:
Ano, Achrann, and Curtis are in this section, since they're theocracy characters.
Cecilia the Valkyrie - A middle-aged milf of an elf with short, white hair, dressed in shining silver armour. She fights with a mid-length spear and a shield. Her fighting style is defensive and generally relies on finding or creating an opening in your opponent's defense before hitting them with powerful piercing attacks. Her block just uses her shield, and her Instant Kill wreathes her spear in divine magic, elongating it into a massive halberd that she stabs through the opponent's chest. I think she can do this for other weapons, too, like to give herself slightly longer reach, or to create throwable javelins. those arent instant kill though
Lucia the Blind - You know Lucia, right? from images? Lucia is primarily a mage, and her handmaiden holds her hand to guide her. the handmaiden uses a knife that deals poison damage over time for short-range melee attacks, while Lucia casts red lightning spells and black fire spells at long range. one of her supers involves lifting her eyepatch and shooting a sickly golden beam at the enemy for serious damage. for her block, the handmaiden just takes a hit for her. her Instant Kill is that she transforms the handmaiden into a humanoid monster made of cobbled-together body parts, and the handmaiden destroys the opponent with a huge silver and gold beam that descends from the heavens.
Anise the Godless - A ragged-looking half elf in a shabby old cloak. her movement speed is slow because she walks with a crutch made of a tree branch. Her main mechanic is that she takes less damage from enemy attacks, and she can sacrifice her own health to add permanent buffs to herself. she can increase her damage, increase her speed, and make herself immune to poison and rot damage, as well as other damage over time effects. She is also more affected by . i forget the word. enemy attacks causing her to stumble or fall. her attacks are fast paced unarmed strikes, or attacks with her crutch, and she has a lot of dashes. she has a Pain Meter that slowly increases when she uses dash attacks, and when it hits max she's momentarily stunned. her block is primarily a counter, and her Instant Kill is just a fast-paced series of attacks that send you into the air before she blasts you with a silver beam from her eye.
Nest, War's Apostle - Nest alt! Her outfit is a lot fancier and cooler than her original one, which is just like. a white t-shirt over pants in fistfight form, and kind of shitty iron armour in knight form. instead of being a two-stance fighter, Alt Nest is a three-stance fighter! each stance uses her sword and shield, but she gets one that's focused on scrappy, dirty fighting with trips and counters and grapples, one that's more long-ranged with lightning spells and fire spells, and one that's more defensive, using her shield and sword for blocks, parries, and counters. She can also wreathe herself in pink and black energy in any form to increase her damage and speed, at the cost of some gauge or other. her Instant Kill would be hitting with a combination of all three, knocking the enemy over, summoning a huge flame and bursts of lightning on them, and then hitting them with an enormous sword made of the same pink and black energy.

@treesurface asked to see the other side since he's asymmetrical... like most asymmetrical models the tail is the first victim (invisible from this side)+the anal fin is hidden too. i was also lazier on the finishing so he looks less polished but that's just on me

origami anomalocaris!!!!! design is by makoto yamaguchi, folded with double sided tissue foil
this one was a pain to fold, but i'm really glad i did it regardless
some particular pain points were the eyes and the shape of the central torso structure, the eyes are basically made by opening out a point into an octagon and it's really easy to fuck up, and the torso structure has like a combined open and closed sink thing
that said the eyes are really cool once they're done imo
robert lang's cicada uses something similar, not looking forward to that whenever i get around to attempting that
also i had to make the paper the same color on both sides as well since one set of tail fins is made with the back side of the paper and ends up a different color otherwise

what are some words where you like their constituent sounds and/or motions?
oh congrats on getting unshadowbanned! couldn’t see these asks before…
also, I really like how the names of the Orlando innamorato/Furioso characters roll off the tongue… something about the sounds of their words and the motions of the mouth while saying them is very pleasing to me

thinking about how in a post-canon bara magna, lariska might choose to replace her prosthetic as a way of distancing herself from the shadowed one, and how she might replace it with something in memory of nidikhi
OOH I LOVE THIS A LOT!!! I never really thought of Lariska changing her prosthetic but GOD GOD THAT MAKES SOOOO much sense. Just, it’s this getting rid of bad memories  but also really symbolic of how she lets him go.
AAAAAAA I LOVE THE IDEA OF HER REPLACING IT WITH SOMETHING THAT IS IN MEMORY OF NIDHIKI. THe question now is though...what exactly would that something be

idk if you have posted it already somewhere, but is there a chance you could post the gif form of the amane pose from the nonbinary bang and amane post, i think it's his round win animation(not like edited with the nb colors, i just mean the animation)
i know you mostly do color palette requests, but i figured it was worth asking since it's similar to other stuff you post, although it's understandable if you cannot or do not want to
thanks either way!!!

Dunkleosteus, designed by Fumiaka Kawahata, folded with a 6-inch sheet of kami paper
really good folding experience!!! remarkably clear and readable given that the instructions were all in japanese and i was working just from the diagrams. really only a few difficult points(particularly the lower jaw, i'm not certain i did that quite right, but i think it's close enough)
it captures the bony look quite well in my eyes, especially up at the head. i think it does feel a little flimsy for most of the folding process, however, up until the very end where a crimp is used to lock a lot of the structure and to add dimensionality to the model
