#Trektober Day 26, "Academy Era". If they don't someday go back for the salamander babies and force Janeway to deal with the stress of their college years, I will be deeply saddened.
For the fifth year in a row, Aisha and I are kicking off the first phase of Trektober with release of the official 2023 prompt lists. Releasing the lists now gives everyone participating plenty of time to plan ahead before posting starts in October.
As in previous years, there are three lists, each with their own theme.
As always, the third (spicy) prompt list can be found below the cut, for those who prefer to avoid.
This is definitely my favourite one so far. I love how it turned out, and I actually really enjoyed filling in all that space!
(ID under cut)
[Image ID: A black and white drawing of Spock from Star Trek: The Original Series.
Spock is standing in front of a window on the Observation Deck, hands clasped behind his back. The edge of the window serves as the border of the piece, and the inner wall of the deck is not rendered. Spock himself is silhouetted against the view from the window - the Earth, floating amidst a sea of stars. The silhouette extends to the edge of the image, breaking the border.
Above the drawing is written "Trektober" and "Day 6 - Observation Deck." Below it is written "@aerialworms" and "Spocktober"./End ID]
Fanbinding: Speculative Cardassian Reproductive Xenobiology by tinsnip
One of the prompts for Day 4 of @trektober-challenge is Alien Anatomy, so I thought it would be fun to do a quick bind of @tinsnip's classic Speculative Cardassian Reproductive Xenobiology!
This was made using perfect binding, the binding method used for paperbacks, although the cover is technically cloth (HYANG faux crocodile leather in Holographic Peacock Blue Iridescence, backed with paper). The textblock is printed on 4 x 6" index cards. The fonts on the title page are DS9 Title and DS9 Credits from st-minutiae.com, and most of the rest of the text is 11 point Sabon.
#Trektober Day 4, "Other Trek Crossover". Pretty sure Riker talked about gambling with Quark at some point so I like the idea of getting Data involved. Geordi can read the cards for tongo but doesn't understand the rules and is getting increasingly worried.
Let's go for the Inktober 2023 with Worf ready for a ritual training.
I'm improvising my own themes to try to make cool illustrations to put in a portfolio.
in which likely Jim has been playing dress-up with Gaila, and has come home to show off his new outfit :))
dip ink pen, Indian ink, and watercolour on Arches cold pressed paper, approx A5 size
a v short McKirk ficlet I wrote inspired by this below the cut (but you're welcome to read the art however you want) :
Jim sauntered into the room, bare-chested and with hair slightly damp from his shower, Starfleet Academy sweatpants slung low on his hips and —
and something distinctly lacy peeking out underneath. Jim met his eyes and Leonard could feel his cheeks heat.
"Jim, what the hell are you wearing?"
Jim's face was the picture of innocence as he propped himself up against the counter, swiping an apple from the fruit bowl and breaking the skin with his teeth. "What, my sweatpants?" he asked around a mouthful of apple.
"Not your damn sweatpants," Leonard groused, "what's that underneath?"
Jim placed his apple down carefully on the counter. "Oh this?"
He hooked his thumbs in the waistband of the sweatpants and pulled them ever lower, revealing a black mesh suspender belt and the top of what seemed to be a lacy blue thong.
"Just something Gaila helped me pick out, like what you see?" he smirked.
[I absolutely might turn this into a longer fic when I get the chance, so watch this space!]
The prompt list for Trektober 2022 is finally here. For those of you who are new, the event goes like this:
Each day, there are three prompts, one from each list (lists are below, with the spicy prompts under a cut for those who want to avoid)
Pick a prompt (or combine them if you’re feeling fun!) and create something for it. It doesn’t have to be fic! It can be art! A playlist! A video! Interpretive dance! Anything!
Post it! Use the trektober 2022 tag! Add it to the AO3 collection if you want!
Enjoy everyone else’s work!
And that’s about it. If you have any other questions, there’s an FAQ on the blog, or feel free to send us a DM or ask!
