Misty Quigley is such a compelling character because at literally every opportunity, she makes things ten times worse while also undeniably getting shit done. like yeah, you all got arrested and traumatized and did murders and resorted to ritualistic cannibalism and all that shit, but did she NOT deliver results? The yellowjackets should’ve been more specific when they asked for solutions to their problems, because Misty will solve your problem. only issue is that she’ll do it by creating four new problems that somehow combine to cancel out the original problem.
#yellowjackets#misty quigley#i have NEVER seen a character hit the perfect intersection of girlfailure and girlboss before but I’ll be damned if misty doesnt#also she’s literally batshit insane and her every action has me either screaming at my tv or staring in horror#Misty would somehow manage to tokyo drift a trolley while trying to solve the trolley problem

Some people need to do things with a hands-on approach. Some problems are just difficult for some people. Maybe we should blame the person who introduced the trolley problem in the first place.

🫀cover reveal🫀
Oh no! My bookshelf fell over and the cover for That Devil, Ambition was revealed!
It's here! The cover for my next standalone young adult fantasy - That Devil, Ambition - from HarperCollins is here, and it's gorgeous!
I have been obsessed with this cover since the original concept crossed my desk. It's foreboding, moody, and a little suspicious. I feel so lucky to have the team at Harper in my corner for this ambitious book.
From Fabian (my boy! it's my terrible boy!) peering through the stacks to the cracked glasses, there's just so much on this cover that makes me smile. It's perfect.
I hope y'all love it as much as I do and go look at Colin's other work. He's done some of my favorite covers.

From Lambda Literary Award finalist Linsey Miller comes this thrilling stand-alone fantasy about the lengths we'll go to get ahead—an incredibly fresh, twisty love letter to dark academia...with a body count. Perfect for fans of A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid, Gallant by V. E. Schwab, and All of Us Villains by Amanda Foody and C. L. Herman. There is only one school worth graduating from, and it creates as many magicians as it does graves… First in his class and last in his noble line, Fabian Galloway’s only hope of a good future is passing his elite school's honors class. It’s only offered to the best thirteen students, and those students have a single assignment: kill their professor. If they succeed, their student debt is forgiven. However, if an assassination attempt fails or the professor is alive at the end of the year, the students’ lives are forfeit. And dealing with the professor, a devil summoned solely to kill or be killed, is no easy task. Fabian isn't worried, though. He trusts his best friends—softhearted math genius Credence and absent-minded but insightful Euphemia—to help. After all, that’s why he befriended them. As the months pass and their professor remains impossibly alive, the trio must use every asset they have to survive. Or else failure will be on their academic records—and their tombstones—forever.

the most important aspect of my trixie the pixie fanon characterization is that she is, MOST of the time, so close to being right. she is deeply intelligent and perceptive, she can match penny blow for blow in an argument and her critical thinking skills are a finely-hewn edge the likes of which you could use to slice through a mountain like butter
and if she ever used those critical thinking skills. well then maybe something would get fucking done around here. alas.
#trixie in my mind has all the tools to get to the proper conclusion she just LOVES to fucking jump#she chooses to take epic swandives off the fucking handle when the stairs are right there#or. chooses is a strong word. my babygirl angel blorbo princess has an amygdala so overactive it's started taking gym selfies#TRAGIC NEWS: supergenius who could solve a million trolley problems instead having an anxiety attack about gluten intolerance and pthalates#so many of my unposted sketches are just trixie chewing her nails and crying#i love her but she has to have giant wet eyes#people love to draw middle aged sexymen men wet and pathetic and shivering. and thats trixie (2 me). she can be a sexyman if she wants.#watford reunion when

I must not respond to the dumb takes on my trolley problem post. Responses are the mind killer. Responses are the little death that lead to engaging with idiots.
#it's not an alternative to the trolley problem it is the trolley problem in different words#i'm not trying to 'solve' it#im pointing out how refusal to engage with the problem#is in fact an answer to it#that all attempts to avoid answering the question ultimately are an answer:#that the (non)respondant would rather do nothing than pull the lever#the trolley problem

You know, there's absolutely value in asking "who's going around tying people to tracks and how can we stop them" but it does not change the fact that right now, in this moment, there are people tied to the tracks. Somebody is going to die. And you have a lever.
#trolley problem#politics#interrogating the framing of a metaphorical thought experiment can be very enlightening#but refusing to engage with that framing and insisting that that means you've solved it isn't the gotcha people seem to think it is

Wait this is so difficult because on one hand that's og George that dream fell in love with but on the other hand the clone Georges are also 100% George and both the clones and dream will feel upset at dream fighting clone George this is so sad 😭😭
Dream you get upset that the George's are fighting and he doesn't want any of them to get hurt and George and the clones would immediately stop because they hate seeing Dream upset
NO ACTUALLY YEAH😭😭😭😭😭dream would be so distressed the georges would stop dead and apologize 10 times

been thinking for days now about the post that just casually dropped "the only way to solve a trolley problem is to build a third track" on me like a sack of ACME-brand bricks

you are missing the point of the orpheus and eurydice myth it's not a riddle to be solved it's a tragedy
there are many versions and reasons why he turns around but in the end, the devotion that led him to the underworld is the same devotion that means he must turn back to see her and lose her once again
#it's the same mindset of 'solving' the trolley problem#you aren't supposed to be the cleverest most special little guy ever it's a story/thought experiment#i have a headache rn so im being a bit of a hater
