A few weeks back, I drew this while playing a role playing game. The setting of the game was magical events taking place close to a fairy ring in the Scottish country side in 1828. . The woods are drawn with @3Oyster for @StudioFlaverse <The Witches> Arachne. The mushrooms are inked with @kyonooto Bengara-iro. The sky is colored with @tmkrinks Abalone diluted with tea. The grass is simply @inksbyvinta Piloncitos which is in my @faggionato_stylos. @Inktober day 17: Ornament . No better ornament in my world than an alebrije. . Every time I have been to Mexico, I have been fascinated by the magical creatures that adorn their homes, stores and entire world, and which they call alebrije. 🇲🇽 . About a year ago, during a business trip, I was surprised by my own alebrije which now adorns my night table. As a cat lover, I was not surprised to get a cat alebrije... despite the random way it made its way to me. 😸🐾 . My alebrije follows me each night in my dreams and does a rather good job at keeping nightmares at bay. It was also by my side while I drew... though my imaginary ornament is not at all like the one I have at home... ✨ . @Inktober day 16: Wild . Wild Brown Pelikans fly free over the Pacific off Land’s End, San Francisco. . One of the best moments of this year for me going to San Francisco with @ThomasLaborey. The pink skies on our first day there and then seeing wild Brown Pelikans flying near Land’s End was absolutely magic! 🌅🌊✨ . Since the @SFPenShow is what motivated the trip, I just had to use two of the inks from the show that have kept me California dreaming since: @inksbyvinta Julio 1991 and @StraitsPen’s show ink Rosé by the Box (currently in my @TWSBI 580al Pink). 💖 . @Inktober day 13: Ash . Ashes to ashes, dust to dust... 🔥💀 . As soon as I read the prompts for this years Inktober, I pictured this. So it’s actually the first one I drew for this October. It was a quick and energetic moment that led me to make it. I keep going back to look at it, but have not retouched it since mid September. My relationship with ashes is that of death, of fire in the chimney in Canadian winters and lots of matches burned lighting candles 🕯🔥 This year, I lost an amazing friend. We were by her side all the way until her cremation. Though we cannot touch her hands anymore, I still feel her warm presence. I guess this drawing is my way of saying farewell to her... 🍂❤️ . @Inktober day 13: Dragon🐉 . My favorite dragon story is that the Nine Dragon Pillar under the Yan’An highway in Shanghai. Back in 2006 when I practically lived in Shanghai, I would often pass by this pillar which is located close to People’s Square. It is first striking by its larger size and its unique aesthetics in silver and gold metal showing nine dragons. 🇨🇳🐉 Locals tell the story that in the mid-90s when they were building the highway, they just couldn’t drill to put in the pillar. The city and construction company brought in Feng Shui masters to vmfigure our what was wrong and none could help... eventually, a monk from the Jade Buddha Temple visited, blessed the construction site and advised that nine dragons be placed on the pillar, since this was the resting spot of the dragon that protects the city. Construction was finalized, with seven rather than one pillar and nine dragons to keep it happy... but it seems that the monk died days after the ceremony, perhaps cursed because he revealed the dragons secret. 🚧🐲🐉 I always imagined this dragon sleeping under the pillar, protecting its nest of dragon eggs and thinking the dragons on its pillar were her children...✨💤🐲💫 It was tricky to illustrate this one as I really wanted to do it justice (despite my limited technique).🙈 .
