And the oldest of my new writing implement friends is the Pal pencil, a mechanical pencil from 1920/21. I looked it up, this is apparently the silver plated original model. The lead comes out for use and retracts by twisting the knob at top. Under that knob is an ossified 100 year old eraser, which amuses me greatly. @Inktober day 16: Wild . Wild Brown Pelikans fly free over the Pacific off Land’s End, San Francisco. . One of the best moments of this year for me going to San Francisco with @ThomasLaborey. The pink skies on our first day there and then seeing wild Brown Pelikans flying near Land’s End was absolutely magic! 🌅🌊✨ . Col-o-ring gradient: the purples (the ones I have swatched, anyway) Second from the left is bungubox imperial purple, which I have regretted not buying at #sfpenshow in 2015 ever since. So I was able to get it directly from the sailor table at #sfpenshow2019 ! Finally I can stop trying to find a similar, and just enjoy it. I am glad it is still different from my others. (There is more difference between the tones in real life and light than this photo will present to you) They go from blue leaning to magenta leaning, to desaturated. The other special pen I found at #sfpenshow2019 , a vintage sheaffer flex nib, housed in black and pearl celluloid. The nib is the thing. It has a firmness and is yet flexible, reminding me of the experience writing with vintage esterbrook dip nibs. It is different in feeling from my other flex nib pens, which I am apparently collecting now. 🤷🏻‍♀️ @paperwantsapen may like to know that I’ve inked it up, and reaffirmed how lovely it is to write with.
