Just a reminder special characters affect your game. I know creators may not know this but your best option is to just use underscore and shorten the names. Players/people who download files, cleaning your files and renaming them is essential to hep with load times.

Bulk Rename Utility.  

A simple life saver program. As you know cc files with spaces and special characters makes our favorite game (The sims 2) very slow..

“ My Mods Folder is 12.3 GB and used to take 10-15 minutes to load. Tonight I removed all the spaces and special characters, and when I loaded my game it made a huge difference! 12.3 GB didn’t take any more than 2 minutes to load. And the game is a lot smoother now! “

If your game is slow too, you can get it to run faster by renaming your packages! All you have to do is remove the spaces and special characters! eg. this is a file name_1.package  > thisisafilename1.package

Here’s a program that allow us to rename several cc with just one button!

TS2 Program - Duplicate File Finder (Working)

So here’s A WORKING Duplicate File Finder that doesn’t require payments or anything, Its easy AND IT WORKS. It's a MUST-have program! It can really save your game!

DOWNLOAD LINK.

Tutorial:

1) Install the program, find it and open it.

2) Click the "Add Path" button.

3) Then Find your Downloads Folder (or any folder you want to check if it has double files)

Following this path: This PC>Documents>EA Games>The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection>Downloads

Select it and Click the OK Button.

4) Select the "START SEARCH" Button.

5) Wait Until the program finds the double files. (It won't take long)

6) When the "Report" window pops, click the OK button.

For better viewing, maximize the program.

7) You need to drag the window that shows the double files, so you can see their full names and where they are.

8) Now you will see the Double Files. 

Select each of one and click the "Delete Files" Button.

9) A window will pop asking you if you are sure to delete the selecting files.

Check the "Send to Recycle Bin" (to be safe) and Click the Yes Button.

10) Done. That's it!

TS2 Program/Tutorial - HoodChecker Neighborhood Corruption Detector

Here is a quite helpful (and must have) program made by Mootilda

that cleans the neighborhoods from corrupted files!

Here is a simple tutorial on how to run the program and fix the hoods.

1: Open the program "HoodChecker.exe" and press Strart

2: Select the Neighbourhood you want to fix and click Next

3: You can First "check" the hood if IT IS after all corrupted but if you already checked it, click the button "Remove"

4: The Program will gladly ask you (remind you) if you have a backup. Make one backup (copy) of your neighborhood and place it somewhere else. After that Press the Button Yes

5: Do NOT check the "Versioned backup" and Press the Finish Button

6: The program will do it's thing and all done. Click the Exit button and play your fixed game!

TS2 Program/Tutorial - SimPe With Object WorkShop & DDS Tools Tutorial

I wanted to create an invisible recolour for a furniture and i saw on the tutorial that was watching, that the guy was using "Object WorkShop" on the SimPe.. I realise that my SimPe doesn't have that, So i looked up and i found a version that has it. Here it is and here is how to enable "Build DXT" option (Needed for recolouring)

You will also need to isntal the CEP. Instal this too.

Here is the tutorial on how to enable the "Build DXT" option

1) Download From the DDS Utilities and instal them.

2) Open the SimPe, go to Extra and then Preferences

3) Go to SimPe Settings, Down there is a Browse Button. Press it.

4) Find the nvdxt.exe and Click Open. Then Click Ok and done!

After that you may want to be sure that your SimPe recognizes that you have installed the CEO.

1) Instal the CEO.

2) Open SimPe, go to Extra and then Preferences..

3) Go to FileTable Hit the Reload Button, After this You are Done.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THE SIMS 2 PLAYERS.

Recently my game (TS2) would lower the fps, crash or even not open.

After a long time i discovered that my windows 10 had an update and broke my game. Of course i disable ALL the updates for the future (that is a thing that you don’t have to follow..) and i found a solution.

The 4GB Patch Repair.I am gonna mention i have 10GB cc on my download folder and the update made my game reset by the 4GB patch repair (THAT I HAD in the past) and made it broke.

First to check if you had the 4GB patch in the past but you believe it has stopped working, go to your Sims 2 Folder in Documents:

Documents>The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection>Logs>DESKTOP-HIP7R3K-config-log.

Open this config note and if you see the Memory to be below 4.000 then you have to install the 4GB.

Download The 4GB Patch Repair Program HERE and follow the VERY simple tutorial ill write.

Extract the file.

Open it.

Go find your main Sims 2.exe file ( i have the Ultimate Collection so here is my Path)  “C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSBin\Sims2EP9.exe" 

Select it and click ok.

Done.

Open your game, wait it to lunch completely and close it.

After this, go again to your Sims 2 Folder in Documents:

Documents>The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection>Logs>DESKTOP-HIP7R3K-config-log. 

Open this config note and if you see the Memory to be changed into 4.000 then you are ready.

How can you make you game much faster! And other tips. (TS2)

I Have added links and tutorials!

1. Rename any CC in your game so they dont have spaces and symbols like %&[] in them by Using the Bulk Rename Utility. 

Here is my list with unwanted symbols.

2. Organize your downloads by putting them in categories 

(for example eyes,models,furnitures...)

3. Make sure you don’t have double, same CC files. To check and delete them, Download the Duplicate File Finder. (A MUST HAVE PROGRAM)

4. For us that have the Ultimate Collection, WHO needs origin?? PLAY TS2 WITHOUT IT! Follow this tutorial.

5. Make sure your game recognizes your graphics card.

If you have Intel PC make sure to follow this tutorial to set the best graphics for you.

6. Download the 4GB patch to avoid crashes.

7. Be extremely careful when you download cc (from where it is, how old they are, are they legit?) do you REALLY need them?

8. DON’T mess with the NPC! you can make your own look-alike sims.. just don’t mess with them.. 

9. The default sims 2 camera is awful.. How about you can see everything in full details?? Download a camera mod! I use the Gun Mods Camera Mod but there are many more.

10. Make sure to have as much backup you can by everything!

Personally i have 2 USB that each have copies of EVERYTHING.

(CC Downloads, The entire game, programs that i use if i re-install the game..)

11. Don’t play your game for hours. Reload after like 2-3 hours.

12. The Sims 2 has many mod/fixes by programers that play the game. For example the famous simNopke‘s Sim Shadow and SkyFix Mod. Search them.

13. Want a Sims 2 open world feel?? You can! Follow this tutorial and install this camera mod.

14. When you download a lot with CC, there is a chance, the lot to have unecessary hacks or CC recolours. That happens because the game doesn't separate the recolours you used on the specific CC you placed on your lot with the rest of the recolours the user had in their downloads and it included all of them anyway. What you can do about it, is to click on the objects, click on the recolour tool and delete the unwanted recolours that came with it. (YOU CAN'T IMAGINE how many unwanted cc i had to remove because of this) someone need to fix that. Maybe the 30% of your CC are unwanted recolours that came with a custom lot...

15. Its 2021 (right now). Luckily there are simmers that are amazing moders too and they making fix patches and programs for the sims 2. One of the best program/fix patch is Lazy duchess's RPC program. Search about it and install it. Its amazing and it fixes many thinking for the game.

16. Hood checker program by Mootilda is a life saving program that checks and fixes corrupted neighborhoods. IT'S A MUST HAVE program.

WHAT IS THE “SCRIPTORIUM”?

In brief: it helps users to install custom fireplaces, modular stairs, walls and lights.

In detail: Basically, it’s a revolutionary new approach to the custom scripts (modular stairs etc…). And, of course, the Scriptorium is also an installer (for Windows) that sets up your game to easily accept new custom scripts. The installer, in addition to enabling the support for custom script, also has the *option* (not active by default) to install the “RADIANCE” lighting mod (latest version)

HOW DOES THE “SCRIPTORIUM” WORK?

In brief: It creates the special folders where to put the text files for the custom modular stairs etc., and instructs the game to automatically load all the file found in those folders.

In detail: the Installer creates three special folders named “Scriptorium_ModularStairs”, “Scriptorium_Fireplaces” and “Scriptorium_Walls” in the folder (gamedir)\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Catalog\Scripts. Then appends one single line to the game files “modularstairs.txt”, “fireplaces.txt” and “walls.txt”: wildInclude Scriptorium_Fireplaces\*.* These two simple steps ensure the needed support for the custom content. As an added bonus, the installer creates some shortcuts in the Downloads folder, to easily access the various “Scriptorium…” folders. (These shortcuts are ignored by the game when loading). The support for the custom lights is identical: only difference, the “lighting.txt” and the “Scriptorium_CustomLights” folder are located in (gamedir)\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Lights. TS2 Tutorials - Fix the poor graphics caused by Intel with the Graphics Rules Maker ! ! !

Recently i had a new laptop with Windows 10 with 4,00 GB and intel graphics (Core TM i3-4005U CPU @ 1.70GHz ) for those who may want to know the specs. And when i download and run for the first time my game (The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection) the graphics were VERY bad and they looked like this:

Not only it looked like mess it was even flickering like this:

Also i couldn't / it didn't allow me to enable Smooth Edges.

I am very glad i was able to fix all of those problems and im happy to share the program and tutorial that helped me, with you guys ! ! !

The main program that helped me and fixed all the problems (the poor graphics, the flickering and enabled the smooth edges) was the Graphics Rules Maker.

What it also can do, if you choose them to do of course:

Force texture memory 

Disable Sim Shadows 

Fix Radeon HD 7000 series recognition 

High Quality on Intel Graphics 

Support VSync on Intel 

Default/Maximum resolution

Warning: Back-up the original Graphics Rules File in case your problems can’t be solved with this program and it caused you issues. The original file will be found here: The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\Config

Here’s the tutorial from the main site that i followed too:

1.  Download The Graphics Rules maker Program. No Spyware, adware etc!

2. Run the installer and follow its instructions.

3. Start the application from the start menu (or directly from the installer).

4. The application will try to locate your game. If it doesn't work, locate the game installation before continuing, by clicking the Browse button.

5. Apply the tweaks you want/need. Every tweak has a brief description as tooltip. 

6. Save the files. This may ask you to add your graphics card to the game's database. (Please don’t mind the NVIDIA texts in the tutorial picture. If you have Intel it will have Intel texts instead of NVIDIA.)

7.  Launch the game and see if everything works as expected.

The game’s graphics will improve to this (ALOT better):

The Flickering will be gone and you will can enable the Smooth Edges:

Thank so much the Graphics Rules Maker ! ! In my case it really saved me! now i can play again my favorite game! (i believe the program also works with nvidia graphics but i don’t think nvidia users would ever have this problem.. it seems to be more common with intel graphics.) I hope i helped people with the same issues in the sims 2 game, like me.

After you Create your new Objects/Recolors, you can use the Scenegrapher plugin to check for the most common Mistakes.

If everything is as it should be, you can Preview your Object in 3D. SimPE can also show you a preview for each Color Option an Object has.

The Application Wizards of SimPE is the easiest Way to create Color Options, it only takes 5 clicks to create a new Recolor using WOS.

All Recolors created by SimPE are based on the CEP (created by Numenor and RGiles). That means you are unlikley to run into Conflicts with other Content Creators that Recolored the same Object, and it even saves your Server some Traffic, as using the CEP generally decreases the Size of the resulting package.

Scan your World.

But the abilities of SimPE go way beyond the plain Editing of Sim related Files and Objects. It ships with a Plugin called Scan Folder, which you can use to Maintain all your Downloads, find some faulty packages (including Neighborhoods) and Fix them.

The Scan Folders Plugin can also Change the Categories of your Skin/Clothing Files, or create Replacements for the default Skin Tones based on any Skin you like.

TS2 Tutorials - NO MORE ORIGIN NEEDED TO PLAY/OPEN THE SIMS 2!

GUARANTEED NO VIRUS LIKE OTHER SAME VERSIONS.

The fix to stop Origin from needing to be running in the background is to replace the Sims2EP9.exe with the noCD version of it.

You need to download this one:

You will be installing it in:
