I’m a member of the support team on Sims After Dark. I knew that the infant patch would be a doozie--and it was! What I was not prepared for was the sheer level of hate, hostility & harassment that we (support team members) would face.

People seemed to have lost any sense of common decency, humility, respect, or patience. It’s quite embarrassing that we had to release MORE THAN ONE server announcement on how to behave. It has really blown my mind that people were behaving the way they were to people who VOLUNTEER their time to HELP. I am not paid by EA nor am I affiliated with EA--I just really like helping other simmers play their game with mods & cc. There have also been several modders & content creators who have been relentlessly harassed on when they were going to update their mods/cc. WE DO NOT OWE YOU ANYTHING.

Given all of this, Sims After Dark has gone dark until March 21st. Hopefully everyone will take this time to re-evaluate how they speak to people online. I know that I for one will be taking time away and actually getting to play the game for the first time since the new content dropped.

Finally, I’ve attached some of the responses that I personally received IN PUBLIC CHANNELS. I was also personally harassed by a group of people who joined the server just to say stupid shit to me. This does not include responses that other support team members have received nor does it include the sheer volume of people saying things like: “When will x mod be updated?” “Is anyone going to help me?” or spamming the support channels. I hope these pictures help you all fully understand how we’ve been talked to the past couple of days. I’ve also blocked out the names & profile pictures of these people because I’m not a shit head and the intention behind this post is to give just a peek into what I’ve been experiencing. The Storyteller's Guild REBOOT - a simblr story discord

I made this server almost 18 months ago, but life got kind of busy and it fell to the wayside. But I've been DESPERATE to find like-minded simblrs. So, my best friend, who also helps mod this server, managed to persuade me to reboot this server and give it another chance at life, and we have some new ideas on how to make this server more active and involved!

Features:

A section for non-storytelling sims stuff including builds, CAS, edits, cc finds and wcifs.

Extensive storytelling section, including channels for worldbuilding, character development, story help, collabs, writing resources, and prompts.

Monthly (at least) writing and character development prompts! (also monthly CAS challenges, maybe??)

Sections for nonsims interests such as music, other video games, art, and reading!

Pet pics channel for your daily does of cute.

Channel for cc/pose making!

Color & pronoun roles, plus opt-in bonus channels.

Hi. I'm probably no one you know, but I'm a support banshee at Sims After Dark, a sims discord server where we help you fix your broken game. If you weren't aware of what's going on, we're shut down at the moment due to the behaviour many of the members have been displaying recently (definitely not all, but too many). Read more about that here https://www.tumblr.com/toastie-sim/712178620303589376 but be aware of the vulgar and sexual language if that bothers you.

For the people saying we were rude first: 'Remove all of your mods and cc, and watch the news channels for updates' is not rude.

'The mod you've been told to remove 5 times now is still broken and causing you errors' is not rude.

'Please stop coming into the support channels with mod folders full of known broken mods. Remove everything and wait for updates. Also delete the broken traits from 2015 permanently' is not rude.

'Okay, if you want to play with broken mods, that's up to you, but please stop coming into the support channels with errors from them' is not rude.

'Wicked Whims is not updated for the patch. Remove it' is not rude.

You know what's rude? Getting angry at the support person who's just trying to help you.

You know what's rude? Keeping coming back with the same mods that are breaking your game and doing nothing to help yourself, but still demanding help.

You know what's rude? 'This mod is actively breaking your game.' 'Well, it's working fine, why are you telling me it's broken? You're being so rude.'

You know what's rude? There are 500 people posting error files at the same time, and you are posting the same error file multiple times in all support channels and sometimes in all channels in all support servers. We cannot help everyone instantly. You have to wait your turn.

You know what's more than rude? Getting banned from the server for abusive behaviour, and then sending all of your friends to harass the person who banned you.



This is a good way to have no one left who is willing to help anyone. We're getting there. We are not machines--input error file, output message that is easy and convenient and will magically fix everything with no effort on your part. We are people, with lives outside of your game, and we expect some cooperation when it comes to helping you. That is not rude.



This is not new. We are, unfortunately, used to it by this point. It's the sheer number and volume of it that's wearing us down, and the escalation into stalking behaviour that scares us. Please, for everyone's sake, at least pretend to be a decent human being.

Calamity Forest - An Occult Themed Discord Server! 👻

I woke up this morning and thought about making my own discord server for the sims, specifically occult sims. So I did! I won’t lie, I’m very nervous to even be making this public. I never thought I’d run my own discord server as it seems like something that’d stress me out after a while, but I wanted to do my best to create one and keep it casual.

The server is occult themed, but you don’t have to play with occult sims to join. It’s still a simblr server in the end, with the common interest being the sims series. I just thought it’d be a fun idea to create a server that was themed, and while it was a stressful process, I had fun setting it up!
