Anyways, as they're going through the rooms in the parable, Narry eventually brings up one of his stories again. The Director responds that, it's a little weird how Narry keeps talking about his stories, and yet the Director has no idea what any of them are about. Narry never told him.

Narry says well! of course not! It's not finished yet! None of my stories are...

Director asks him why?

Narry says that stories are art, and art takes time. It has to be perfect, each new line must be able to flow into the next-- he doesn't want to make a story and then re read it and realize he screwed up somewhere. It's a labor of love... a very, very, very, long labor... of love.

There's silence for a moment before the Director tells him he would like to hear what he has anyway. Even if it isn't done. Narry refuses at first, saying that he hardly has anything written down and... and... it's embarrassing and-- not good enough yet-

Then he sees the blue words in the air write just two words: c'mon. please?

Narry sighs and grumbles about it, but takes a small notepad out of his pocket. This isn't the main place he keeps his stories, but he likes to have it on him to write when things come to his mind. You never know when inspiration strikes! It could strike anywhere, really-- it's struck him in the shower before. But then the pages got all wet... and... Narry trails off, realizing he's rambling like a loser and just clears his throat.

He begins to read, but the Director stops him. Opens a door to a new room.

Narry inquires about the room. The Director tells him that it's a good room for ideas and lays down, his arms folded behind his head. He looks up expectantly at Narry. Narry takes a moment to realize that he wants Narry to read to him. Narry blushes a little at this, taking out his notebook and bashfully rambling a bit about how his ideas are not done, and not to judge yet, but if the Director has any uh- any constructive criticism, he'd be glad to hear it.

The Director nods.

Narry begins to read. And as he does... something appears on the walls.

Narry watches, dumbfounded for a moment, as the light dances on the wall... then slowly fades out. The Director looks up at him and asks him why he stopped.

"The- the walls..." Narry responds, pointing to the now blank surface. "M-my story was on there. Did you do that?"

The Director shrugs a shoulder, a small smile in his eyes. He explains that: a little bit of that was him, but a little bit of it was also Narry. This room shows you what you're thinking. The Director uses it a lot when he thinks of rooms for the parable to really flesh them out. He pauses for a moment then chuckles a bit and adds: I wouldn't be able to think up anything like what was just there-- most of my thoughts are architecture. All the artsy things were you.

Narry gives the Director a bashful little hand wave, as if to say 'oh, stop it. don't flatter me' but not so secretly, that comment went to his ego. The Director knows that, and smiles knowingly before shutting his eyes again and asking Narry to keep reading. It was a nice story so far, maybe a bit heavy in prose, but good.

Narry's face falls into a grumpy frown and objects to the 'prose' criticism, but when Director goes to remind him about his request for 'constructive criticism'-- Narry cuts him off and keeps reading.

"Twas burning flesh and the twinkling of dashed hopes round her neck, a gift for the heavens, taken untimely from the feet of its mortal bearers. They were not to know her true blessings, blind to their own skin. If there was ever a moment when the truth was made known, it was not one recognized by eyes, but by a more intangible spirit whose true name conflicted with that of the vessel that carried it."

All the while, the images on the walls danced, showing his words coming to life. Narry found it hard to look away, sometimes faltering in his speech as he got distracted by the visuals.

Eventually, he came to the end of his excerpt... but... kept going anyways-- improvising. just to see more.

The Director claps softly, sitting up. He tells Narry that it was a nice story. He has some notes, but he's definitely interested to see where it goes.

Narry sighs defeatedly. No, he says, I didn't have much to work with, actually... I ended up just- just improvising at the end there-- ugh. My prose is lackluster, I would need more time...

The Director shakes his head. He points to the wall. He says that to him, it looked like Narry was enjoying what he wrote. He couldn't stop staring at the wonderful imagery that appeared there-- and that imagery would not have been possible if his descriptions were poorly written. Sure, it was a bit wordy, but the tone was... good!

The Director shrugs. He apologizes, he's not much of a writer. He laughs to himself at the irony for a moment before continuing.

He tells Narry that as long as he enjoyed writing, it was good. And if Narry was willing to just make up new lines on the fly like that, then he certainly enjoyed it.

Narry takes a moment to think about what the Director said, then sighs and chuckles a bit. He shrugs and nods. He agrees, yeah, it was nice. To see his story come to life like that... even if it isn't... perfect yet-- maybe he could... he could improve upon it? If- if the Director didn't mind, actually... could he be allowed in here again?

The Director nods. Of course he can.

Narry smiles down at him.

My god, The Narrator the most autistic thing on the planet. It’s like, I get that the manual is written the way that it is to be humorous and slightly unsettling, but boy if it does not feel like the Autism Experience playing out in miniature. 

The over explanation and difficulty with trimming it down. This is a whole ass mood right here. Overexplaining everything because you’re so used to being misunderstood and taken out of context. 

This could also be seen as info-dumping about a special interest since the dude is unquestionably obsessed with his game and story.

The all or nothing, black and white, ridged thinking.

Extremely blunt and literal instructions. The lack of understanding that if a person bought this, they probably know what a video game is and has the means to play it.

And on the opposite end is explanations and instructions that come off as bizarre and nonsensical but make sense and are logical to him. Another whole ass mood when it comes to the Autism Experience where you explain things in such a way that makes sense to you only to find out you’re making no sense to the person you’re trying to explain the thing to.

And last but not least, once you get past The Narrator’s usual over-exaggerated ego and overconfidence that of course spirals into crippling, destructive self-doubt by the end of the manual, you find that there is genuine earnestness beneath it all. The Narrator feels like this character who is super eager to show off this thing he made and that he is beyond passionate about, but there is a fundamental communication barrier between himself and his audience, which is funny since he quite literally is just a voice and all he does is communicate. He struggles to understand humans and we struggle to understand him. If that isn’t The Autism Experience, I don’t know what is lmao.

In conclusion, I judge The Stanley Parable Manual to have committed an Autism. We should all make our own instruction manuals in honor of this dork and we should all come together to give him a bigger page count because the world need The Stanley Parable Instruction Manual: Director’s Cut with all 400 pages restored. Let the man instruct us on how to play The Stanley Parable unfiltered and uncensored.

Ok so I wasn't planning on sending anything but I'm doing anti-Narrator propaganda rn

For context: hi! I'm a big fan of TSP! I've played the original game and seen multiple playthroughs of the Ultra Deluxe since I couldn't get it in my hands. I love the Narrator, he's my fav (right after the Bucket, that is /j). But I don't want him to win! And I have my reasons.

My biggest gripe with Narry here is that he isn't fully in control, a trait vital to being a good Web avatar. Homeboy might say he's controlling the narrative but in actuality he's got nothing against the Parable. (Yes, the Parable is a separate entity.)

There are multiple instances in the game where the Narrator tries to go back to the narrative he's cooked up, only for either Stanley or the Parable to disagree and fuck with his plans.

The Parable has the most direct control, given that apparently nothing can control it. I mean, there's an entire ending called "the Confusion Ending" that's just Narry getting confused by where the Parable is directing him and Stanley. The Narrator is not in control here. He doesn't realize what is happening, the strings are not in his hands.

And then there's Stanley. Stanley. The definition of Some Guy™. You'd think that a Web avatar that's gotten into the Web Tournament semifinals would be pushing him around like a ragdoll but nope! The game's most barebones plot is "the Narrator wrote a story for Stanley to play out, Stanley doesn't like it starts fucking around and finding out". Like that's the plot. The Narrator not being in full control is the point of the game.

I wouldn't call Stanley or the Parable Web either. The Parable is more of a Spiral manifestation that's making Narrator lose his mind, and Stanley is Just Some Guy. So it's not like Narry is out-Webbed or something, he's just that incompetent.

My point here is that the Narrator is not fully in control of what happens, therefore making him a weaker Web avatar than Director Lee Harvey Oswald. I'm not even a fan of DOT but judging by the bible that is his description I know he deserves to win. Because when Director Lee Harvey Oswald is controlling the world, the pathetic babygirl that is the Narrator is struggling to make Stanley walk through a single left door.

Nathan & Stanley (Stanley Burrows, Paraverse Alias is Burley, uses She/They/He) are part of an AU of sorts where instead of them being in a video game, they're part of a 1930s TV cartoon show. Nathan Albright (goes by any pronouns besides She/Her), who used to be human, was overjoyed to see that his passion project, & him to an extent, was given the chance to become a fully fledged show & went on over to CrowsCrowsCrows Studio in order to start. Unbeknownst to him, they weren't fully transparent on how the show would be produced. When he thought he was going to be a director for the show, they meant that he'd literally become a TV show. They shoved them into a big machine resembling a film camera & he becomes a cartoon. He creates blank states of the rest of the cast overtime through new powers he gained, though by doing that they've now gotten their own personalities. Those would keep developing overtime, especially when they got thrown into the Paraverse.

After a particular decision was put into Season 1 (I've a drabble for that for more info lol), CrowsCrowsCrows decided to put his show into thin ice. How it was done? For every negative large review, he & his cast would feel head-on, whether it's physically (Nathan w/ his forms) or mentally (Stanley w/ her violence problems).

Since their parable's set in 1935, they're able to get introduced to the Paraverse through a time machine that Tony Vendura (TV/ this parable's TK, goes by It/They) made in its spare time. It actually meant for the machine to just go back for an episode gag, but they ended up getting it to work forwards as well! Originally, it was just Nathan who went, & he stayed in the background most of the time. Now, both he & Stanley go, Stanley being much more social. Seriously, she's got a partner there! That's neat, & she's poly so she's still open for more partners! :)) (/j, /silly, /unless,,,)

Speaking of his other form, his eyes will go onto his palms by default, but can morph onto other parts if he's using said hands. They're also his glasses lens, meaning that he cries though his glasses in human form.

TV & the Parable's Conductor (Curator; don't have a name for her yet lol) also have another form since the show change.
