Book No. 22

I bound my first tiny book last week, a very small copy of Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) by @tsttoain, and I am a convert. I love the cute size, I love that fucking up only costs one (1) sheet of A4, and I love turning a project around in a single evening. Seriously. 4-5 hours, including typesetting, and that’s with me pausing to figure out each set as I went. Amazing. It is a *revelation.*

Not only was this my first tiny book, this was also the author’s first foray into this ship and into writing smut; I really like the symmetry of trying something new in my binding when she was trying something new in her writing. I bound two copies, one for the author and one to keep.

I am always grateful to the @renegadepub discord community for their support, but they really came through this time as I gave myself a crash course in tiny typesetting and binding and turned this around in just a few hours.

With the exception of the pages, both copies are made entirely of scraps from previous projects, and I am delighted at how they’re both a new and complete object in their own right, and simultaneously one that carries with it the ghosts of other books books I’ve bound to date.

Fic Ask Game: Favorite Fic Lines

Hello people. So, I got some sudden inspiration for this little game, which goes hand in hand with the KinnPorsche Fanfic Comment Event a little bit, in my opinion: Share the lines of fics that have brought a big emotional reaction out of you. It can be anything, from sadness to happiness to horniness to anything in between. Lines that have stayed with you, no matter how long ago you read the fic. I believe our writers deserve a little praise in these trying times, don't you think? So, for me, some of them are the following: 1) "The rib hurts so much more now that someone else knows about it." - drank every scar, by @ginnymoonbeam - Tbh, I'd have to put the whole fic in here, but this is the line I tend to think of whenever the fic comes to mind. Rereading it now to find the line made my eyes water, it's so fucking visceral and perfect and I love it so much. Once again, thank you so, SO much for writing it and sharing it with the world ❤️ 2) "Vegas’ violence is unpredictable, painfully personal, and utterly, tragically ineffectual.

Pete forgives him all of it." - Civil Hands, by @ameliarating - I can't count the times I went feral over both Civil Hands and Deep Dive. As a fan of Pete, both of those fics mean the world to me, and this specific line has been on my mind since the moment I read it. I love how it showcases Vegas' effect on Pete's worldview, how Vegas made him break his own rules, and how he came to accept it, because it's him. Incredible writing, I love it so fucking much❤️ 3) "He’d rather be marked as disposable, he’d realized, than erased as invisible.

There was something bitter about realizing that he’d been both." - Once You Are Real, by @veliseraptor - Lise chose this for the summary and it's such a perfect choice. I think it's the reason I chose to read the fic in the first place. I am very emotional when it comes to the concept of Pete finding out he was forgotten, and this fic does an amazing job with it. I keep returning to it a lot, I love it to death. Painful in it's brilliance, I can't recommend it enough. 4) "“I don’t know,” Pete said unsteadily. “I don’t know. How could I know what that feels like? I’m not that kind of person.” He pulled against Vegas’s grip, and got nowhere. “You make my teeth ache. You make the world bright, like it’s real. It hurts. It’s hurt since I met you, but that means I can never forget I’m alive." - even the clearest water, by @luckydicekirby What a fic. The concept, the lines, the execution, it all deserves praise until the end of time. Pete's answer to Vegas' "Do you love me?" will always remain in my head as one of the best things VP-related I've ever read and ever will read in my life. I loved this so fucking much, I will never get over it ❤️ 5) "“And now you have nothing,” Kinn says. “As I said, a dumb move.”

“Wrong again,” Vegas says. “I now have something you don’t.”

“Oh?” Kinn doesn’t hide the way he rolls his eyes. “Massive hospital bills? Bed sores?”

“Happiness.”" - Your Power Over Me, by @wisteria-daydreamer - A very special shout out to my lovely friend who's written one of my favorite Kinn&Vegas fics I've ever had the pleasure to read. When this line came, I literally gasped out loud, it left me speechless. The way Kinn's POV is written was marvelous and the whole conversation he had with Vegas was incredible. Check it out if you crave some good Kinn&Vegas fics, it's very, very good. Disclaimer: I have so many fics and authors I love and I've made that clear to both them and my followers in the past. My brain could only handle doing 5 for this, but I absolutely have more than 5 that I'm obsessed with. Maybe one day I'll do a Part 2, I'll see how it goes in the future. Last Line Game

I was tagged by @tsttoain 😘 but since it was during the Ghostly Gift Exchange I delayed answering until I could share something (the irony of you also being my hauntee wasn't lost on me 🤣🤣🤣)

When Chay is done, he looks back up at Tops only to find him looking back, his own plate untouched, cheek resting on his raised hand and a fond look on his face. It's then that Chay realizes how quickly he'd eaten. And how much noise he'd made while doing so. He feels his face heat up and mumbles a thank you and an apology before fleeing from the kitchen. I can't believe I straight up moaned at him, he thinks, mortified, as he runs back to his room.

The one thing Vegas would have never listed among his list of expectations, should you have asked before it happened and managed to get an answer, was that he would wake up able to see ghosts.

I think the reason that both july and august have 31 days is that they're named after julius cesar and augustus and whoever was the later one (augustus I think) didn't want to have less days in his month than the other one

What a delightful bit of Trivia - and based on what little I know of Roman rulers, that sounds 100% plausible to me. Thank you!

It isn't always easy to recognize how much you're loved, not until something happens to remind you of it. Not until the people that love you take the chance to show you in the most beautiful way possible. Today is my birthday. Some of my friends decided to write fics for me because of it. I want to repay them by sharing their work with you, so that you can check them out for yourselves and see their immense talent first hand.

Starting with this amazing fic by @mightymightygnomepriest, who decided to quench my thirst for VegasPete somno in the hottest way possible. I loved every line written in this, Vegas' POV was spectacularly explored and it includes VP's codependent issues superbly, which is one of the main reasons VP fans love them so much in the first place. If you want something hot and with VP's characterization on point, check it out.

This lovely Gen fic written by @tsttoain made me so happy, I can't even explain it properly. Pete's grandma and Macau are both beloved characters by the fandom, and this little fic gave me so much I didn't know I wanted but desperately needed. It was sweet and sad and perfect, and I can't believe I was gifted something so wonderful. I'm sure you'll love it too if you decide to give it a chance.

Last, but certainly not least, this phenomenal Porsche(&)Pete fic written by my amazing friend @wretchedamaranth managed to bring so many emotions out of me. It rendered me breathless and teary-eyed. They captured the relationship between Porsche and Pete, this secret third thing we're both huge fans of, so fucking well that all I can do is stare in awe over their talent. This is their first fic in general, first kpts fic in particular, so please show them your love in the form of kudos and comments. I'm so proud of them for venturing into the realms of writing. They deserve all the praise. Thank you so much everyone ❤️ I love you all and I wish I could express how grateful I am for your existence in my life better. Unfortunately, these sort of rambling thoughts will have to suffice for now haha.
