🐉RATING: 🔥🔥🔥🔥/5 ⭐️BOOK TOUR⭐️ ❓Do you enjoy stories with haunted houses? I love when a book lives up to the promise of its cover! Delicious Monsters by Liselle Sambury is both creepy and suspenseful. Told with a dual timeline, Delicious Monsters by Liselle Sambury is a YA contemporary horror with a teenage girl who can see ghosts, a mother with a mysterious past, and a house with a big appetite. (Scroll image for the full synopsis.) Sambury skillfully weaves together two stories, patiently delivering bits of information to build the suspense. The author’s eerie setting descriptions bring the book to life, maintaining an unsettling gothic atmosphere. I especially loved how the natural beauty of the mansion’s property puts Daisy on edge. Is she uncomfortable in the “bush” because she’s a city girl, or is there really something to fear? There is much to love about this book beyond the paranormal. The two plotlines sensitively connect the lives of Daisy and Brittney through similar life experiences. Both have raised themselves, yet struggle to be truly independent. They have also experienced trauma that makes them unable to trust anyone to help or care for them. (Be sure to check out the author’s trigger warnings on her website.) Strong character development provides emotional depth which anchors the story. Both Daisy and Brittney are young women that you want to succeed. It’s clear that a lot of care went into creating the secondary characters too. The endearing King, mysterious Ivy, and ambitious Jayden all have their own secrets and goals. Finally, this isn’t just a paranormal horror story, but one that draws from real life headlines. Or rather a lack of headlines. It’s a commentary on the media and how victimized and missing Black girls are so often ignored and forgotten. You can pick up your own copy of Delicious Monsters on February 28th! Thank you to @simonteen and @turnthepagetours for providing this eARC for review. #deliciousmonsters #lisellesambury #turnthepagetours #ttpt #ireadya #yahorror #yasuspense #bookreview #bookrecommendations #booktours #bookstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/Co2mZY5h8Tf/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Book Review…The Wolves Are Watching by Natalie Lund The night little Madison disappears from her crib, Luce sees a pair of eyes, two points of gold deep in the forest behind her house and feels certain they belong to a wolf. Her town, Picnic, Illinois, is not the kind of place where a toddler goes missing without a trace, where wolves lurk in the shadows. In town, people are quick to blame Madison's mom. But when Luce's English teacher shares an original script about the disappearance of another little girl in Picnic back in 1870, Luce begins to notice similarities. Certain that something deeper is going on, Luce tracks the wolf she saw into the woods and uncovers the truth: magical animal women have taken her cousin for their own purposes and they have no intention of bringing her back. This was an nice read! It's a well paced story with that spooky feel making it a good read for the Halloween season. I liked the main characters Luce and Fanya and the mystery of the plot. There was enough mystery that I wanted to keep reading to find out what would happen next. But if you're looking for a book that has some magic, a whole lot of suspense and a touch of romance then you will like this one! Lia Park and the Missing Jewel Tour Stop
Tumblr media
Good afternoon my lovelies! I hope you've all been doing well. It's been a hot minute since I've participated in a blog tour, but I'm so excited to be talking about this next title. It's no secret that I was a former Children's Librarian ( I have since moved on to the local public school as a college advisor), and I love to find new middle grade titles for every kid. Not only is this a perfect selection for Asian American and Pacific Islander month (and every other month of the year), but it just so happens to release tomorrow!! Make sure you add it to your TBR!
Book Title: Lia Park and the Missing Jewel
Author: Jenna Yoon
Publisher: Aladdin Books
Release Date: May 3, 2022
Genres: Middle Grade, Fantasy
Goodreads link: https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/59365270-lia-park-and-the-missing-jewel
Book Purchase link: https://www.goodreads.com/buy_buttons/12/follow?book_id=59365270&page_type=book&page_type_id=59365270&ref=x_gr_w_bb_glide_sout&sub_page_type=show&tag=x_gr_w_bb_glide_sout-20
Book Description: (From Goodreads)
This middle grade fantasy follows a young girl who must venture to the undersea kingdom of the Dragon King in Korea to save her parents from an evil diviner spirit. Twelve-year old Lia Park just wants to fit in. Her parents work with a mysterious organization that makes them ridiculously overprotective. Lia’s every move has been scrutinized since she was born, and she’d love to have the option of doing something exciting for once. So when she gets invited to the biggest birthday party of the year—and her parents say she can’t go—Lia sneaks out. But her first act of rebellion not only breaks her parents’ rules, but also an ancient protection spell, allowing an evil diviner spirit to kidnap and ransom her parents for a powerful jewel that her family has guarded for years. With just the clothes on her back and some very rusty magical skills, Lia finds herself chasing mysterious clues that take her to her grandmother’s home in Korea. From there, she has to make their way to the undersea kingdom of the Dragon King, the only person who knows where the powerful jewel might be. Along with her friend, Joon, Lia must dig deep and find courage to stand up for those who are weak—and become the hero her parents need.
Review:
If you're looking for a book that seamlessly combines fantasy and contemporary elements into a unique and engaging storyline, then you're going to want to read this book. Lia Park is such a fantastic young heroine. She's determined to save the world, yet realistic of what that might mean. Moreover, she's also a young woman who's a bit of a rebel, so she might not always do as she's told (I mean, when does any kid ever do EXACTLY as their parents have told them?).
The incredible world-building just adds to this fun story. It's chockfull of action and just gives off a cinematic vibe from start to finish. I loved how fun this story was, and how excited I got as I read through. You also get insight into Korean culture, which I appreciated greatly. Overall, it's a well rounded story that deserves a place on all shelves.
Author Bio:
Jenna Yoon studied Art History at Wellesley College and received her master’s degree in Korean art history from Ewha Womans University. She’s lived about half her life in both Korea and the United States. When she’s not writing, Jenna loves to travel, find yummy eats, play board games, and take skin care very seriously. Currently, she lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband and two kids.

Book Tour in collaboration with @turnthepagetours 🦄🦄🦄 Blurb in the comments 🦄🦄🦄 Unchosen is a fantasy novel by Katharyn Blair that has permanently left me worried about being attacked by zombies. 🙃 The plot of the story is supercharged and overrun with a lot chaos. Seriously! It's like with every turn taken there's more intensity and as much as I'd like to say I prefer clean cut novels, I LOVED THE CHAOS! I received an uncorrected e-proof via netgalley, so there were quite a few grammatical errors but I'm presuming those were corrected before the final copy was published. (Can someone who's read the final copy let me know?). The main character, Charlotte reminded me if myself in so many ways. I've always blamed myself for things I do not have control over and to see her struggle with the same thoughts made me sink into the story deeper and wish that she can get out of that headspace because with all her flaws, she is capable. We get a love square for the romance angle but I'm not quite convinced with how things ended with the 'square' the main character still seems to have unresolved issues with love and in a way even though I wasn't satisfied, it felt realistic. The ending was a bit to abrupt and uncut that left me questioning a few things. There were times the plot didn't have the best flow with things happening all of a sudden but overall the book was a great read and given its length, it took me less than a day to complete it. 🦄🦄🦄 Rated 8/10 Melina L. #unchosenbooktour #turnthepagetours #unchosen #bookstagramtour #katharynblair #Bookstagramfeature #LibraryofBookstagram #bookstagram #bookreviewer #bookhaul #bookreviewerswanted #goodreads #bookishlove #thebookieclub #bookstagrammer #bookquote #bookreview #authorsofinstagram #authorsofig #bookworm #bestseller #fantasyauthor #fantasyseries #fantasynovel #katherinetegenbooks https://www.instagram.com/p/CKjJrTQgoG3/?igshid=1kuy9jqtuvgnd

From the author of I Killed Zoe Spanos comes a YA thriller in the vein of The White Lotus and Karen M. McManus’s The Cousins following a doomed family reunion gone wrong at a posh Caribbean resort, where old grudges and dangerous secrets culminate in murder. Eleven Mayweathers went on vacation. Ten came home. It’s been years since the fragmented Mayweather clan was all in one place, but the engagement of Addison and Mason’s mom to the dad of their future stepbrother, Theo, brings the whole family to sunny Cancún, Mexico, for winter break. Add cousin Natalia to the mix, and it doesn’t take long for tempers to fray and tensions to rise. A week of forced family “fun” reveals that everyone has something to hide, and as secrets bubble to the surface, no one is safe from the fallout. By the end of the week, one member of the reunion party will be dead—and everyone’s a suspect: The peacekeeper: Addison needs a better hiding place. The outsider: Theo just wants to mend fences. The romantic: Natalia doesn’t want to talk about the past. The hothead: Mason needs to keep his temper under control. It started as a week in paradise meant to bring them together. But the Mayweathers are about to learn the hard way that family bonding can be deadly.

My 4-Star Review
This is my third book by Kit Frick, with my favorite that I've read being See All the Stars. Kit does a great job of portraying teens and all the feelings running through them at any given moment, and then turning that brew into a great YA thriller. Here we have a large extended family that seems super tight, but when they go on vacation together, cracks begin to appear. The mystery dribbles out slowly as we watch the characters interact, giving us hints of old anxieties and issues, as the tension ratchets up. I was shocked by the ending to be sure, which is always a plus for me!
The publisher was kind enough to send me a copy of the book for this tour, but I also purchased myself the audiobook to listen along as I read. If you're an audiobook fan, I'd definitely give this one a go! Either way, it's a solid YA mystery/thriller and any fan of those should definitely pick up The Reunion (and any other Kit Frick book!).
Rating: 4 stars!
**Disclosure: I received a copy of this book for purposes of this blog tour. This review is voluntary on my part and reflects my honest rating and review of the book.

Book Review…The Take-Over Friend by Carol Dines On the second day of ninth grade, introverted Frances meets Sonja, a wildly funny newcomer from France, and the girls form a fast friendship. Frances adores Sonja’s worldliness, and Sonja adores Frances’s family, especially her older brother, Will. Frances and Sonja immediately declare themselves “The Poets” and rally their homeroom to enter the homecoming parade with a poetry-mobile built from Frances’s father’s old band bus. But respective family crises begin to escalate, and tensions come to a head when Sonja temporarily moves in with Frances's family forcing each friend to decide how close is too close. The Take-Over Friend is a book about the struggles we all faced at one point in time in high school, making friends and when to draw the line.I found all of the characters in this book to be interesting and stand out for one reason or another. I really enjoyed Frances coming into her own. It touches on some darker subjects but it's handled well. It's a well written story with an interesting ending! Thank you Turn the Page Tours and Carol Dines for sharing this book with me! #TheTakeOverFriend #Caroldines #booktours #turnthepagetours #read #booksta #youngadult #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookrec #booknerd #igbooks #igreads (at Cleveland, Ohio) https://www.instagram.com/p/CjJpDj4r836/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

𝓑𝓵𝓸𝓰 𝓣𝓸𝓾𝓻- I'm so thrilled for my stop on the tour featuring The Cartographers by @pengshepherd hosted through @turnthepagetours Shepherd first appeared on my radar with her debut, The Book of M and so I was stoked to hear about her second novel. Set in the world of academia, and more specifically, cartography, I loved reading about the politics of the world as well as the many angles that the study of maps is approached. Nell is the driving force of the narrative, with chapters filling in the exposition and past narrative. I appreciated the structure of the book and the mysterious elements as Well sought to learn the truth about her past. I adored the subtle magical realism touches. The characters felt so real and relateable. I cannot wait for Shepherd's next book. Overall, I gave The Cartographers 4.5⭐ and would recommend it to lovers of The City We Became by NK Jemisen and The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E Harrow. Thank you @williammorrowbooks for the gifted copy. #turnthepagetours #thecartographers #pengshepherd #booktour #bookreview https://www.instagram.com/p/CbWqwmFuse-/?utm_medium=tumblr

Book Tour in collaboration with @turnthepagetours 💖 🦄🦄🦄 Kimberly Willis Holt's The Ambassador of Nowhere, Texas is a stunning post-9/11 companion to the National Book Award-winner When Zachary Beaver Came to Town. Decades after the Vietnam War and Toby’s life-changing summer with Zachary Beaver, Toby’s daughter Rylee is at a crossroads—her best friend Twig has started pushing her away just as Joe, a new kid from New York, settles into their small town of Antler. Rylee befriends Joe and learns that Joe’s father was a first responder on 9/11. The two unlikely friends soon embark on a project to find Zachary Beaver and hopefully reconnect him with Rylee's father almost thirty years later. This beautiful middle-grade novel is a tribute to friendships—old and new—and explores the challenges of rebuilding what may seem lost or destroyed. 🦄🦄🦄 The Ambassador of Nowhere Texas is a Middle Grade Historical Fiction novel by Kimberly Willis Holt. It's a story about friendship during a time when the world stood still after 9/11. I loved how the author managed to talk about such a delicate topic and turn it into something emotional and beautiful without tarnishing the integrity of the past and also acts as a means to give readers a glimpse of what happened after the tragic event. But the stand out were the characters because they weren't just kids in a book, but the embodiment of emotions and character development as well as character relationships. Rylee, Twig and Joe all have their own issues running within their family, from divorce to death, but it's how things pan out that always count. But this isn't just the story about three young people, it's so much more. It's about grieving and forgiving, about the past and present, about stories that will be told for years to come and never forgotten. The author's writing style is great and I love the way the story moves however, there are times when the book is a bit slow paced for my liking but overall I truly feel that this is a book that everyone should read, not only because it's a great book but also because of the messages it delivers. 🦄🦄🦄 Rated 8/10 Melina L. https://www.instagram.com/p/CKJ1rVVArME/?igshid=k9seaagxxowk

What book releases are you excited for this month? Wishing the happiest of birthdays today to THE FALLING GIRLS! I just received this copy over the weekend, so I’m excited to dive into it soon. Thanks, @turnthepagetours and @penguinteen! 📣 About THE FALLING GIRLS 📣 From the author of the unforgettable Something Happened to Ali Greenleaf comes an intoxicating thriller about the dark paths female friendships can take, set against the backdrop of a high school cheerleading squad. Perfect for fans of Megan Abbott and Kathleen Glasgow. Shade and Jadis are everything to each other. They share clothes, toothbrushes, and even matching stick-and-poke tattoos. So when Shade unexpectedly joins the cheerleading team, Jadis can hardly recognize who her best friend is becoming. Shade loves the idea of falling into a group of girls; she loves the discipline it takes to push her body to the limits alongside these athletes . Most of all, Shade finds herself drawn to The Three Chloes—the insufferable trio that rules the squad—including the enigmatic cheer captain whose dark side is as compelling as it is alarming. Jadis won't give Shade up so easily, though, and the pull between her old best friend and her new teammates takes a toll on Shade as she tries to forge her own path. So when one of the cheerleaders dies under mysterious circumstances, Shade is determined to get to the bottom of her death. Because she knows Jadis—and if her friend is responsible, doesn't that mean she is, too? In this compelling, nuanced exploration of the layered, intoxicating relationships between teen girls, and all the darkness and light that exists between them, novelist Hayley Krischer weaves a story of loss and betrayal, and the deep reverberations felt at a friendship’s breaking point.

💻 BOOKSTAGRAM TOUR + BOOK REVIEW! 💻 Thrilled to be taking part today in the @turnthepagetours #bookstagramtour for THESE DEADLY GAMES by @dianaurban! This incredible book releases next Tuesday, 1 Feb 2022, from @inkyardpress @wednesdaybooks [quick side note: you can get 25% off right now if you preorder through Barnes & Noble!]. I will put the synopsis in the comments, but let me just tell you that this is one YA thriller that you are definitely going to want to read. Now, I knew who the villain was pretty early on, but it really didn't even matter to me because the book was so propulsive that I couldn't stop reading. The crazy "games" and the diabolical plan were so intricate and well-thought-out, I was in awe of the planning Ms. Urban obviously had to do in setting this up. She thought of absolutely everything! I stayed up until 3am the second night of reading because I literally. Could. Not. Stop. I just had to get to the end! Now, admittedly the end wrapped up fairly tidily, but that's kind of to be expected, I think, and I'm okay with it. There's also a wee teaser that perhaps they could be a continuation of the story, and I am here for it! Basically, if you're a fan of YA thrillers, or any intricate thriller really, you should absolutely check out THESE DEADLY GAMES. Get your preorder on, or ask your library to order it!
