the next installment of the day i met you, everything changed is here! as always, thanks to @chaotictarlos for the beta!

“Okay, Aish, I swear to god if you don’t stop moving, you’re going to end with red nail polish everywhere but your toenails,” TK swears when her foot shakes again, her head thrown back as she’s laughing. “Aishwarya Rajesh, I will kick you out.”

“Okay, okay, I’ll stop,” she gasps, a massive smile on her face. “Thank you for doing this, you know. My dad said he wouldn’t give me money to get my nails done after he saw how much my lehenga was, and you’d catch me dead before you saw me at a wedding without my nails done.”

The TV continues to murmur in the background, TK on the floor of his living room with Aishu’s foot resting on his thigh. 

“Yeah, yeah. You’re painting mine after this, don’t fool yourself. I don’t know why I even agreed to come with you to this thing – I don’t even know anybody there.”

“You agreed because you love me,” Aish sing-songs. “You’ll have fun, I promise. You know Rahul, and he kept asking if I’d bring ‘his favorite white boy.’ As far as I see it, you don’t have a choice.”

TK responds, but Aishu doesn’t hear it as she focuses on her phone, getting a text message from Carlos , who’d been noticeably MIA since graduation two weeks ago. It was part of why Aishu was even taking TK to the wedding in the first place, to take TK’s mind off of Carlos. TK had been trying to find a moment to finally tell Carlos how he felt and was visibly getting more and more dejected as Carlos made excuse after excuse, avoiding TK and Aishu like the plague.  

[C] Hey, I’m at your place, and your mom said you’re at TK’s. Can you come back for a minute, I need to talk to you.

[C] Alone.

Aishu frowns, quickly smoothing out her expression. She types back quickly.

[A] Five minutes. Wait in my room.

“Hey, are my toenails dry? My mom wants me home for a bit, my lehenga came in and I need to try it on.”

TK lightly touches a finger on her big toe, before nodding. “Yeah, babe, you’re all good. You gonna come back? I was gonna go get some sandwiches from the deli on MoPac, I can grab you one.”

“I’m not sure, dude. I’ll let you know.” 

With that, Aishu grabs her purse and slips out the front door, not looking behind her. 

Whatever Carlos finally needed to talk about, it wasn’t gonna be good.

Carlos wrings his hands as he sits on the fluffy chair shoved into the corner of Aish’s bedroom, next to the massive window facing Carlos’s ranch. He knows this is going to be a hard conversation to have, especially with Aishu’s (still-unknown) history with Iris, but he’s put it off long enough.

Aishu comes in in a whirlwind, dumping her purse on the bed and shrugging her jacket off, screaming down the stairs at her mother in Telugu, and Carlos can only pick up bits and pieces of the rapid-fire conversation. 

She sets her eyes on him, “This better be good. You’ve been gone for two weeks, and you’re driving TK nuts. Seriously, Carlos, you’ve been such a dick to the guy, he’s barely hanging on.”

“I got married.”

Ooh could you name five movies and or tv shows that you want people to see that include disabled characters, preferably played by disabled actors. Pleaseeee i need more inspiration for resource making.

Because I mentioned disabled shows by disabled people:

Ryan O'Connell (1986) - he has cerebral palsy and is gay, adapted his memoir into a series called Special (2019-2020) according to IMDb he's in 16 episodes.

Josh Thomas (1987) - is Autistic, has ADHD, and is gay, is in Everything's Gonna Be Okay (2020-2021) which he's also an executive producer on, and according to IMDb he's in 20 episodes and also Please Like Me (2013-2016) 23 episodes!

Tim Renkow (1989) Mexican Jewish, he co-wrote Jerk (2019-2021) and according to IMDb he's in 8 episodes.

Unfortunately, there are not many disabled media by disabled writers but I can list disabled actors who have notable tv roles:

Oh sjsjsjd I love languages. Just saw this Telugu news channel title a program "Galli to Global live" which is actually something most people watching the show will immediately understand.

But it's amusing because:

galli isn't a Telugu word; it's an Urdu word meaning street or lane

imo it's common because of how much Urdu influences Hindi, which is in turn a very common language

But every other word in that sentence is in English

It was a Telugu show

The listing on my TV was written in English

So it was an Urdu word, probably popularised by Hindi, used by a Telugu channel, in an English sentence.

and it still made perfect sense to the intended audience
