❝Despite your life long fascination with all things ghoulish, you never could have accounted for the day your life would turn upside down. Who knew that fiction and legend didn’t live only between the pages of a well beloved book. ❞
Tumblr media
A C T 1
There were tales your grandmother used to tell you in the dead of night of ghouls, witches, and goblins all to lull your active mind straight to sleep. You always loved when she put you to bed, so excited to see how she twisted old folk tales and legends of ghosts into something entirely new just for you. Never once had you suspected that all these stories were anything more than old wives' tales meant to scare restless children into a fitful slumber. Not even as you aged and delved deeper and deeper into the world of monster and fantasy, a budding fascination steadily growing into something akin to obsession.
You loved the tingle that would crawl up your spine at each new horror that came to life before the crusted pages of a book so worn you wonder if it’d crumble to dust if you weren’t careful. These stories brought a spark to the mundane happenings of your day-to-day life, something about them oh so addicting. But there was only so much your town's single library offered and even less in the one bookstore nestled on Mainstreet. Though you craved more the thought of leaving the small mountainside town was terrifying, so you never did. With a laptop, you had the whole world at your fingertips, so a lifetime in the only place you considered home was a small price to pay for the loss of a dream. You couldn’t make a career out of chasing fairytales so you told yourself you’d be content with working at the bakery you loved visiting in your youth and that your hobby would remain just that, a hobby.
There was no merit in chasing fantasies. That’s just what they were, fantasies, or the stuff of nightmares it just depended on who you asked but nevertheless, these creatures fabricated pieces of the past. They were made to scare and fascinate all at the same time; a phase you were meant to grow out of once you were old enough to know better. Maybe you didn’t know any better, still believing in everything you were ever told even at the ripe age of twenty-two. It might have made you a fool but that didn’t matter, there were more than enough town crazies to keep you safe from town gossip. When it came to you they only cared for the status of your relationship.
Engaged five years to Sawamura Daichi, it seemed that everyone who occupied the little town you called home was counting down the days until you finally tied the knot. High school sweethearts were about as common as coyote sightings in these parts. But it was strange for the couple to wait so long, or at least it was seen as strange in these parts. It was laughable the way they poked and prodded you for details only to whisper that it was never going to last if you kept him waiting. Yet those who judged failed to realize that divorces were just as common as early marriage.
It was tiring but you loved him so much that you didn’t care what others thought. How could you? Daichi was the love of your life and five years of engagement was nothing in the grand scheme of things when you planned to spend your lifetime by his side. You’d never part ways with him if you could help it.
If you could help it.
You’d think a lot about your devotion to him the night of your wedding but that was yet to come. For now, you’d be found frantically tying up loose ends as that day had yet to come, despite it being right around the corner.
It had to be perfect, you had spent the better part of those five years meticulously planning everything down to the last detail. In your mind, a perfect wedding day was the only way to truly show Daichi how much you loved him because marriage signified the end of just you and him. You’d be expected to start a family, never hear the end of it if you didn’t and you had settled on the fact that a romantic life with him wasn’t in your cards. You always knew that there was a certain order to things, that as you aged you were meant to fulfil certain roles and duties. There were things that you had to do as a wife and that included passing on Daichi’s family and no matter how much your friends tried to cheer you up, you knew that raising a family meant your life would be fundamentally different. You’d seen it time and time again and even though Daichi insisted that marriage wouldn’t change a thing.
It just didn’t seem like it would be in your cards.
It didn’t matter how many times he’d clasp your hand in the dark of night and swear to you that all he wanted was your happiness. You knew better than to believe such sweet lies. He wasn’t the first to make such a promise. Your parents did, claiming they’d support you no matter the decision you made but when it didn’t fit in their picture-perfect life, well then they had to do everything in their power to make sure you’d change your mind. With enough pushing you finally did. Daichi was a good man and you knew he would never do such a thing. But change was inevitable and one day you knew he’d realize that he would want the life everyone said he deserved. You could never hold that against him, it was human nature.
So you’d smooth his hair away from his forehead, gently kiss the tender skin and whisper, “I love you.” Nothing would change the love you felt for him. Just like nothing would change how utterly enthralled you were with the gods and monsters who existed solely between the pages of a legend. That was just who you were. Fate wouldn’t change your feelings.
A C T 2
You married Sawamura Daichi on May fifth, exactly six years after he first asked you to be his girlfriend. It was that day you could officially call him yours. Under the wisteria trees, you stood, his eyes brighter than you had ever seen them, yours wet with unshed tears. Flower petals and a soft scent danced across the breeze, the sun beaming down and heating up your cheeks. If you could, you would have frozen that moment so you could live in it forever but all you could do was capture it within a photograph. It would never be enough but it was something tangible. You could hold the image in the palm of your hand and be transported back to that very moment. Never had anyone looked at you with such love in their eyes, it was almost overwhelming, how content you felt under his unwavering gaze. You’d never feel like this again but you didn’t think to savour it because a lifetime with Daichi was supposed to satisfy you endlessly.
It was just too early for you to tell that things would change tremendously in the blink of an eye. Change in ways even you couldn’t predict.
A tear slipped past your lash line as you read the vows he has written for you. Your throat is too clogged with emotion to let out anything other than a choked sob. Those words scrawled across the page weren’t meant for anyone other than yourself. Your friends and family didn’t need to be privy to such intimate thoughts, it felt right for such an affair to be kept between lovers on the precipice of a union. Idly you wondered why this wasn’t standard practice, suddenly finding bold declarations of love to be an egregious affair. The thought was fleeting as each time your eyes flickered back up to Daichi’s sweet brown ones, everything swarming your mind melted away and you were reminded that no such thoughts were needed when you were standing here with him.
Your hands trembled as you slid the gold band onto his finger, nerves set ablaze as reality sunk in. His were steady and warm in yours, calloused palms rubbing against the back of your hand as he gave you a reassuring squeeze. The steady beat of your heart pounded in your ears but you had never been more thrilled. The nerves were just temporary, they struck only for a short moment before settling into nothing more than a fizzling excitement that danced across your chest.
“Do you, Sawamura Daichi take-” the officiant started.
“Yes!” Daichi cut in with a wide smile, laughter ringing out from your guests. He was almost even more eager than you were, wanting nothing more than to scoop you up in his arms and plant one on you. You were already his in every sense of the word, it didn't matter if there was a paper to make it official.
The officiant shook their head, turning to you with a smile, “Do you-”
“Yes!” you shouted, bouncing on your feet as you gazed back at Daichi. The next words to come out of their mouth hardly even registered as you flung yourself at him, your arms wrapping around his neck. Your teeth clicked against his as you kissed him, your nose half mushed against his face but you didn’t care.
Everything surrounding you two faded away until the two of you parted, a familiar heat filling the apples of your cheeks as you turned to your loved ones. You weren’t one to be taken over by emotions in such a manner and neither was he, and he’d never be so bold in front of your parents but things were different now.
The reception was small but looking back it was nothing but a blur. You were far more excited for what came next; your honeymoon. It wasn’t much by most people's standards but it was all the two of you could afford when all of your savings went towards purchasing your first home together. It was a week at the Sawamura family cottage situated four hours away from your hometown, at the base of a small almost heart-shaped lake. Time away with him was all you wanted, you would have gone anywhere even the ends of the earth if it meant you’d be with him. But you should’ve paid more attention to the words of caution thrown your way by the old women of your town or even spoken with your grandmother just one more time before leaving.
All you could remember was to watch out for coyotes, that part of the lake was just crawling with ‘em.
You could hardly recall the one story you had been told a dozen times over. The one about the man who turns into a wolf or was it a beast? You couldn’t remember; the details nothing more than a needle lost in a haystack.
It was late in the evening when the two of you arrived, barely even bothering to unpack your bags before stumbling your way into the bedroom. Your clothing littered across the floor the moment you passed through the doorway. Daichi just couldn’t keep his hands to himself. You were his wife forever and always, he may have had the rest of his life to have been intimate with you but he didn’t want to wait. Your lips never left his for more than a second. You craved the feel of him against you and you wouldn’t rest until you had him deeply lodged inside of you.
You giggled as he narrowly avoided hitting his head on the low hanging beam, your hands crawling up his shirt as you finally found the right room. It had only taken three tries, two twin beds and a set of bunk beds to get it right. The mattress squeaked as the two of you tumbled onto it, dust puffing up around you. Wrapping your legs around his hips you whined out his name, your fingers tangling in his hair as you nipped at his neck. Daichi groaned at the feel of your crotch pressing against his growing bulge. As much as he wanted to take you right there with only the moonlight to illuminate your features but there was the nagging voice in the back of his head.
“Hold on,” he huffed, cupping your cheek he slid out of your embrace, “Let me just turn the power on and make sure all the doors are locked.”
Pouting you grabbed hold of his t-shirt, “That can wait, baby,” you muttered, “I can’t and besides I don’t mind the dark,” your lips ghosted over his as you pulled him closer, “C’mon we’ll be quick and then you can do what you need to do.”
“I also need to use the washroom,” he said with a sheepish grin, his thumb smoothing across your skin, “But don’t worry, I’ll be back before you know it.”
He pressed a tender kiss to your lips and another to your forehead before walking off.
“Be safe, Daichi.”
He turned back with a smile, “I will,” he said, “I promise.”
And you believed him.
It was a shame that you succumbed to the sweet arms of slumber before he returned back to bed with you. You had no idea that those would be the last words he said before disappearing.
Suddenly what was supposed to be the happiest day of your life became the worst.
That morning when you rose, peppering in goosebumps, eyes puffy, you found no trace of Daichi outside his luggage which sat neatly beside yours. It was as if in the blink of an eye he was plucked from existence. The mounties found nothing but a few paw-shaped prints in the mud at the edge of the driveway. It had been a full moon, there were tracks everywhere and so they created no leads to follow. Soon the case of Sawamura Daichi would grow cold. There were no signs of struggle, no one occupied the neighbouring cottages as the season had just barely begun, and there was simply no evidence suggesting he didn’t leave on his own accord.
So you had to accept that the only one still looking for him was you. Even then there wasn’t much hope as you were forced to return back to your life much sooner than you would have liked. That house you were going to buy was purchased by a sweet family of five while you moved into the apartment above the flower shop. Those harrowing tales of horror you loved so much remained locked away in the memories of your youth. You couldn’t stand to read them let alone think of them, not when life was so cruel and your wedding day felt like something straight out of a fable as if you were some wicked wench that was punished all in the name of karma.
You used to think that you were the protagonist of such stories but you grew to regret it as you had forgotten that fairy tales had a happy ending, not folk tales.
Maybe if you hadn’t been so greedy Daichi would still be with you. But you couldn’t turn back the clock or click your feet and make this bad dream go away. You had to move forward and do what you must to survive. That’s what it felt like living without him. Surviving.
A C T 3
At the age of twenty-six, you remarried. Your new husband was a sweet man who went by the name of Sugawara Kōshi; a teacher at the local elementary school and your first husband's childhood best friend. When Kōshi was eighteen he moved to the city for both an education and a change of pace, he craved something faster and he found it. It wasn’t until you ran into him at the market that you knew of his existence or his connection to your lover. It might have been selfish to chase after him, callous even but to have even the slightest piece of Daichi in your life once more was enough to send you crashing into his arms. And above all, you were lonely, so even if it wasn’t love that you felt for the man the feeling of companionship was more than enough. You knew he needed it too.
At the age of twenty, he fathered a pair of silver-haired twins who looked just like him. At the age of twenty-five, their mother died in a car accident, leaving him all alone in a world that felt too big for him. That’s what spurred him to move back home and to allow the advances of an old friend's widow when romance was the last thing on his radar. He never envisioned his life like this and he supposed neither did you but his children needed a support system and the feeling of overpowering loneliness was enough to cloud his vision.
So after three months of dating the two of you made your way down to the courthouse in the nicest outfit you owned and tied the knot. There was no music or joyful laughter, just peeling wallpaper with water stains and flickering fluorescent lighting to cast a sickly glow upon the two of you. Kōshi didn’t even kiss you, he shook your hand and gave you a watery smile before taking you to lunch at the dinner across the street. He ordered a sundae while all you could stomach was a sugary drink. Guilt crept in long before you had realized, you now were just feeling it because this decision of yours was becoming real. Kōshi took you to Daichi’s favourite dinner in town and on instinct you sat down on the booth you had all but claimed as yours years ago. But what struck you right in the heart was when he suggested the two of you escape for the weekend to get to know each other a bit better, pointing out that the Sawamura cottage was left in your name by Daichi’s parents after his disappearance. You were too stupid to say no, mistaking the bile crawling up your throat as a reaction to your betrayal rather than pure unbridled fear.
The next weekend you were dropping his kids off with his parents and driving back up to the cottage.
“So how did it happen?” Kōshi asked as you fiddled with the radio, his eyes barely darting away from the road to meet yours, “Daichi’s disappearance?”
Biting your bottom lip you let out a sigh, “I fell asleep while waiting for him to turn the power on and use the washroom,” you mutter, “I’m not sure where the circuit breaker was but I know the only washroom on the property is an outhouse,” turning your head away from him you frowned, “There was no trace of him in the morning, just his keys lodged in the side door’s lock.”
You had forgotten that his story had barely made the news outside of your county, his missing persons profile only on the back page of the local paper for a month before it was exchanged for another. Kōshi knew not to press any further, there wasn’t any other information to rely on. If you weren’t granted the slightest bit of closure years later then who was he to expect it. He didn’t need to know all the gritty details and didn’t deserve to. It had been months since the two of you began talking and not once had he ever asked about Daichi’s disappearance, was he just now beginning to feel the guilt too?
“We used to go there all the time as kids,” he said, his grip on the steering wheel tightening, “There’s was this rope swing we use to use that was tied to the old oak tree out back,” he cracked a smile as the memory flashed before his eyes, “Once Daichi swung so hard that the rope snapped and he went flying.”
The foliage was a blur of green as you drove by, you couldn’t find it in yourself to do anything more than nod your head along to his story. If you reminisced too hard you feared you’d burst into tears and that was no way to spend your second honeymoon. It wasn’t fair to Kōshi, not when you were the one who ensnared him. So you forced a smile and feigned a laugh.
“Must have been quite the afternoon.”
He chuckled, “It was and when he resurfaced his father gave him an earful for being so reckless,” you wished you would have found his laugh beautiful, it was the first time you had heard it but it just made you feel worse, “Did he ever tell you that story?”
“No,” you said, your gaze lingering on his for a moment before returning to the window, “In fact, he never mentioned you,” maybe you were using that fact as an excuse to placate your conscious but the way he deflated was more than telling, “I knew an Asahi, Tetsurō, and Chikara but never a Kōshi.”
Shrugging your shoulders you turned the music up to drown out your thoughts. The conversation was over. For the next three and a half hours all that was emitted from Kōshi’s grey Sudan was whatever station reached this far out and the occasional sputter of the engine. He said he’d get that looked at one the two of you got back home. Come Monday you’d begin the process of moving into his bungalow. It would no longer be his house but yours as well. Your new forever home.
A C T 4
The congratulatory banner was still hung across the front door. The letters were mostly faded, weather and time stripping the once pristine fabric of all its glory. Billowing between the trees were remnants of the bright yellow caution tape the mounties spread around the perimeter of the property. No one ever bothered to clear the mess away and you never thought to, so it was ultimately your fault that the past hung heavily in the air. Kōshi grabbed the banner as he passed through the doorway, silently tossing it in the trash bin as you busied yourself with making up the beds.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, a warm golden glow flooded the space but everything felt cold.
“You can take the master,” you said as leant against the doorframe, “And I’ll take the one by the bathroom.”
He nodded absentmindedly as he wiped down the inside of the fridge, “If that’s what you want, I don’t mind sharing,” popping his head up, Kōshi scrunched his brows together, “Did you hear that?”
“Hear what?”
“That sound,” his face pinched up as he tried to concentrate on what he was hearing, “Sounds like an animal nearby.”
Shrugging your shoulders you let out a yawn, “There are coyotes nearby,” closing your eyes you tried to pick up on the noise he was hearing to no avail, “I wouldn’t worry about it, they’re likely miles away if the sound is so faint.”
Shuffling into the living room you ignored the creaking floorboards that followed you, a rough gust of wind taking precedence. With a sigh you pushed back each set of heavy set curtains to inspect each window, making sure to lock each one until you reached the culprit. Dragging your finger across the dust-covered windowsill you poked your head out. Taking a moment to watch the swaying trees and brush you searched for this alleged animal but found nothing other than the occasional squirrel and chipmunk. The metal latch was broken. It wouldn’t close no matter how you shut it. A second pair of footsteps trailed into the room behind you.
Turning away with a huff you shake your head, “We can’t close the window,” your eyes are shut tight as you hope the ache blooming across your forehead was not an impending headache, “We can use a string to shut it for now but tomorrow we should fix it-“
Rather than soft brown eyes catching yours from across the room, you were met with a sickly yellow pair that glowed unnaturally bright as it stared down at you. Before you stood what you could only assume to be some sort of wolf, with charcoal tendrils of fur hanging off its body. Reaching into your back pocket you grabbed your phone, your chest rapidly tightening as your forced yourself to stay still.
Message to Kōshi:
Animal got in. Use the backdoor to head to the driveway. Signal is better, call xxx-xxx-xxxx for help.
Sucking in a shaky breath you shut your eyes, hoping that your presence would be enough to keep the beast's attention away from Kōshi. The wind is knocked from your chest as it pounces at you, throwing you down against the floor. Its sharp black claws dug into your shoulders, just an inch away from tearing your supple skin to shreds. A pathetic whimper escapes your lips, your neck extended as you try to squirm away from its face. But there’s nowhere for you to go, it’s steaming hot breath fanned across your breath acrid salvia spraying all over your face with each ragged exhale. It was as large as it was broad, well over 7ft. It loomed over your figure menacingly even as it was hunched over, each and every visible muscle rippling under the low yellow overhead glow.
This was it, you thought bitterly, and you couldn’t even stare death in its face as it stared down at your quivering form.
Your eyes flew open at the sound of your name. Like a soft breeze on a warm summer's night, you may have missed the faint calling of your name. Gone was the drooling beast, in its place a face so strangely familiar you felt as if you were waking up from a dream rather than facing a wolf so eager to gobble you up.
He called out your name again, his voice strained as he pressed his face against your neck, “It’s me,” he whispered, inhaling your scent with a guttural groan, “Daichi.”
He sounded as if his vocal chords went unused for years, but there was no mistaking his words.
He said Daichi.
He claimed to be your first husband.
Your chest heaved with laughter as tears bubbled up. Was this it? Have you finally lost your mind? Or perhaps you had finally crossed over and this was your punishment for moving on with a man closeted to your love. There was no way that after all these years you had found him once more, in the shape of some sort of man-wolf no less. Life was anything but fantasy and such an occurrence could only be cooked up by a mind so far removed from reality. It was impossible, but the longer you stare back in bewilderment the more you could see his face.
If you removed the fangs, deep underbite, snout, and the fur which covered his ears and neck you would have been staring back at the love of your life.
Were you?
“It’s … It’s been so long,” he groaned, his clawed hands slipping from your shoulders to grab at your hips, “... Missed you so much, sweetheart.”
You strung together a jumbled, nonsensical sentence as you tried to address him but nervous laughter and choked sobs thread their way between each word. Every inch of your skin felt as though it were on fire as rough pawed hands felt you up leaving a trail of heat in their wake. It was unmistakably familiar, the ways in which he explored your body. Grabbing at your hips only to smooth his hands across the expanse of your back, that was how Daichi touched you. A habit that you were so familiar with you’d think it was odd if he didn’t squeeze your hips when he held you in his arms.
“Is it really you?”
He nodded his head, his face contorting into what you assumed to be a smile.
“Then you should let me go,” you cried, pawing at his chest in the hopes he’d remove some of his weight off of you, “We can talk but you need to let me up, please.”
“You’re hurting me,” those words danced on the tip of your tongue as you pleaded with him. You couldn’t bring yourself to say them, he’s never once done anything to hurt you, he didn’t mean to now, you were sure of it. He must not have been aware of how much larger he’s grown, how much heavier.
He shakes his head, globs of salvia flicking out of his mouth. Pressing his hips against yours, Daichi lets out a choked moan, “Need you right now,” he says, his claws threatening to tear up your shirt, “It’s been so long, need to make up…”
His mouth presses against yours in an attempt to kiss you but it’s full of teeth digging into your lips and cheeks until he decides to slip his tongue out. The warm, slimy appendage sliding over your gums and slipping down your throat for a moment. Pushing against his shoulders you let out a strangled breath as he violates your mouth. You hear your clothing be shred to bits before you feel it, the cool night washing over your bare skin, goosebumps rising along your arms. Your chest heaved the moment he gave you even the slightest reprieve. Nuzzling against your cheek he dragged his tongue from your jaw up to your temple, emitting a low whine at the taste of your skin. Cradling your face between his paws for a moment he smiles, his nose rubbing gently against yours. Tears sprung in your eyes, the small gesture so familiar it broke your heart.
Mumbling to yourself for a moment you caressed the side of his face, “I want you,” you felt repulsive for even entertaining the idea but he looked at you like some desperate puppy and you missed the feel of his hands on your body. You never allowed Kōshi to touch you and he never made a move to. Was it really so wrong when he was your husband whom you loved more than life itself? “Make love to me Daichi,” you whimpered, “Please, baby.”
The kisses you plant against his mouth are desperate, your hands smoothing over his abdomen, greedily drinking in the feel of his sinewy chest and silken fur that lines it. You can feel the veins bulging against his taut skin with each swipe of your hand. He’s solid and warm, two things that cement the fact that this was real, that he came back. It was the one thing you needed a constant reminder of as the last few traces of fear and adrenaline slipped away. You were filled with need, it fueled each and every move you made, the one driving force left at this point. And it drove Daichi. An animalistic instinct pumping through his veins, growing stronger with each huff and puff that left his chest.
In one fell swoop, Daichi rolled over so that you were on top of him, your thighs snuggly wrapped around his meaty hips. His claws tore at your bottoms, slicing through the material with ease, eagerly grappling at your hips to tear away your underwear. Effortlessly hoisting you up to his chest, Daichi let out a groan as he deeply inhaled your scent. Your knees buckled as the tip of his nose brushed against your slit. He groaned even louder at the taste of your cunt, his tongue poked out of the corner of his mouth as he took his time relishing in your scent. Fear was one hell of an aphrodisiac. Sticky slick coating your inner thighs, practically dripping into Daichi’s mouth. Like a man starved he dug into you as if it’d kill him to wait any longer. He moaned into your cunt, his tongue swirling around your puffy clit. It’s intoxicating, your very presence made him dizzy, his head spinning in ways they hadn’t in years.
Daichi can’t think, he can’t breathe. Not with you around, not with you like this. He promised himself he’d be good for you, he’d be gentle with you but was drunk with a carnal lust so powerful he just couldn’t stop himself. His claws pressed deeply into your thighs, pain prickling across your skin with each passing second. It mingled with the sparks of pleasure dancing up your spine, overpowering everything else. Nothing ever compares to the feel of Daichi’s on your body. Your jaw dropped open as he wrapped his lips around your clit, slurping on the bud as he pressed your pussy closer to his face. The fur lining his jaw and chin tickled your skin, it brought a giggle to your lips but laughter was soon replaced with a gasp as his tongue lolled out of his mouth, the tip probing your hole. The appendage stretches you surprisingly wide, filling you up nicely. It was a strange sensation, so much softer than you were used to but it had your eyes rolling into the back of your skull. Your hips jerked in his hold, his tight grip only granting you the freedom of a measly twitch.
“Daichi,” you sighed, your chest heaving, “Oh baby, I’m so close.”
Your hands slip down to grab at the wild mess of hair that laid atop his head. It felt just as it always did when you carded your fingers through the spiky strands. It was unlike the rough and matted fur that covered every inch of his body. His chest rumbled beneath you as he crooned at the gentle petting.
“Make me cum… fuck!... Please…”
Daichi’s nostrils flared, his blood pumping so quickly so violently that he couldn’t hear anything over the loud rhythmic thumping of his heart.
His sharp, jagged claws slashed the tender skin of your thighs as you came. A choked scream forced its way out of your throat, your mind split in two. Your body didn’t know how to react, it heaved forward, muscles tightening on their own accord as you forced yourself to remain upright, riding out your orgasm, strangled pants all you could muster. Stumbling off of him, you slink onto the floor beside Daichi, blood trickling down your legs. He’s yet to notice, a look of bliss on his face as he licks his lips, greedily swallowing every last drop of your essence. It isn’t until he turns his head, eyes glazed over that he notices the three large cuts spanning across your skin. They aren’t very deep, but they stung. You suppose it should feel worse, but you don’t feel anything but lust and a need so strong that you’re already looking past the pain.
Daichi looks like a kicked puppy, flopping onto his stomach to nuzzle against your thighs in an apologetic manner. It smears the blood across his face, mingling with his sweat-soaked fur.
“I know you didn’t mean it, baby,” you whisper, wiping away the tears that managed to wet your cheeks with a shaky hand, “I’m not upset, I know you’d never purposely hurt me.”
Petting his head, your fingertips brush against his large ears. as he leans in further, his blackish tongue darting to lap up the hot sticky blood that spurts out with each small movement. Your nose crinkles up in disgust but he’s quick to clean you up with the utmost care. Perhaps it was the adrenaline coursing through your body but you allowed yourself to slip onto your back, legs spread wide to accommodate his large frame once he’s finished with your wounds.
“I’m sorry,” he rasps, pressing his forehead against yours, his arms pressed firmly against his sides, “Let me take care of you.”
Regret and shame fill him and it makes him happy. These feelings make him feel more humane than he’s felt in so long. Only you could bring him back to who he was and he should feel sickened for being near overjoyed but he doesn’t. It’s electrifying, knowing that he’s capable of such remorse. Though the longer he mulls over the feeling, Daichi realizes that he shouldn’t have been surprised in the first place. He spent years thinking of you, waiting for the day you’d waltz back into his life because you completed him. There was never a shadow of a doubt when it came to you, so elation felt right not surprise. You always brought out the best in him and his condition would never change that.
Shaking your head you smile at him, eyes still watery, “I’m okay Daichi, promise,” your eyes flit across his face, “I need you, so don’t stop,” it comes out whiner than you mean it to be but you can’t help it, “This is how you can take care of me…”
You don’t know what the future might hold and you don’t care. There’s no possible reality in which things could revert back to the way they were but it’s the furthest thing from your mind. All you need is the here and now, you’d smooth out all the bumps and cracks when you could no longer deny their presence. All you want is him, that’s all you’ve wanted for the past four years. You’d be damned if you allowed one tiny, inconsequential bump in the road to end things now.
Tugging him closer to you, your eyes trailed down his pelvis. He looked the most human down there. His cock much longer and girthier than it had been before, a sweltering red-tinted head that leaked precum. It wasn’t the sheer size that intimidated you but the roundish bulb that sat near the base. You weren’t sure what it was, or why it looked like that but you chose not to dwell on its presence. Your breath was stolen straight from your lungs as Daichi pressed into you, the bulbous head hot against your dripping cunt. Adjusting to his size is hellish, your fingernails dig into the worn wooden floors, pieces chipping underneath your hands as you seek some semblance of purchase in the flat ground. A flurry of words jumbled with sharp gasps tumbles from your lips. The stretch burns, you feel like his cock is splitting you in two with each painstakingly slow movement. The floorboards creak and splinter under Daichi’s claws, his muscles bulging as he forces himself to remain slow, keeping as much of himself away from you as he can.
Your velvet walls fluttered around his length, pulling him in deeper. The slow drag of his hips wasn’t enough to satiate your greedy, drooling cunt. Grunts and pleasure-fuelled growls fill your ears as your back meets the ground, your head flopping to the side, a soft puff of air pushing past your lips. Daichi chants your name like a prayer, each syllable more refined than the last. His voice grows more and more steady with each passing beat, a bliss-filled haze settling over him. Grabbing hold of his meaty forearms you moan out his name; stars blurring your vision, a delicious heat dancing its way up to your belly. The knot swells with each rhythmic thrust, syrupy sweet slick dripping down the rest of his length.
“Can I?” he questions, a moan cutting into his words.
You nod your head without thinking. You’ll take whatever he’ll give, the honeyed sounds that leave him so intoxicating you feel drunk with lust. His paw wraps around your wrist as he guides it down to where your bodies meet. Your hips jerk up into your hand when two of your fingers press a firm circle into your clit. Your cunt squelches obscenely loud, it’s heard above each and every heady sound you make.
“Mine,” he mutters, his hips roughly snapping into yours, “You’re all mine,” the base of his knot pressing against your already stretched hole, “My pretty baby.”
His nostrils flare, his jaw jutting out further. It takes every fibre of his being not to plunge his knot into you without a care, to allow those horrid bestial desires to push you even further past your limits. Your fragile human body wasn’t made for this but you took it with such grace he could have been fooled. You writhe beneath him, a shrill squeal bubbling up as he bottomed out. The tip of his cock was pressed snuggly against your cervix. His cock throbs against your walls as he cums, warm white seed painting your insides. There’s so much of it, you feel uncomfortably full as ropes of it spill into you, his fat swollen knot preventing any of it from leaking out.
Rubbing your thumb against his forearm you nod weakly, “Only yours,” you whisper, “He means nothing to me.”
It’s like a weight has been lifted from your chest. The admission was so freeing that this was the first time you ever dared to admit it to yourself.
“I love you.”
Those three words you’d been aching to say once more to him came out as a desperate sob, this wasn’t how you wanted to tell him but once you said them they just kept pouring out over and over again until it felt right.
Your cunt creamed around his length; complete and utter satisfaction rolling over you in waves. Shakily inhaling you pat his arm, lips downturn, “You’re the only one I’ve ever loved,” you say, grabbing his hand to kiss his knuckles, “Don’t leave me again, I don’t think I’d be able to survive it.”
“I won’t, I swear it,” he says, shifting some of his weight on top of you, “Never again.”
A pair of hurried footfalls draw closer. Daichi chooses to ignore them, wrapping his arms tightly around your torso so your bare body is flush against his balmy, fur-lined skin. He stood in the doorway, panting, his face red from the chilly night air. Fear was present in Kōshi’s eyes, but they were different from what you saw earlier in the evening. You wonder how much he’s seen if he’s caught on, or even if he was privy to the scene splayed out before him.
None of that matters though.
He’s had to have seen enough to understand that this game of pretending you had been playing was over.
You were granted your fairytale ending and you were talking it without looking back, it didn’t matter how warped it was. You knew enough of how fairy tales worked to know that even an ounce of doubt would send you straight back into the clutches of a miserable partnership.
You weren’t taking any chances.

A Prince’s Love
(Here’s a Yandere Diabovolo (Obey Me) x Fem Reader story :)) I’m so sorry for disappearing again! My computer control+alt+deleted itself so I had to get that all sorted out :(( And I’m also sorry if this is kinda short, I didn’t necessarily know how to continue it lol.
TW:size difference!, manipulation!, he’s scary af bc he’s so calm!, forced marking!, kidnapping!, captivity!, manhandling!, noncon touching!, minor mentions of religion!, mentions of future children, etc..
Please proceed with caution!)
“Isn’t this nice, my love?” Diavolo massages your sud covered shoulders, entire body seemingly engulfing your own. You’re curling into yourself, knees to your chest, arms around them to hide your naked body. This, inadvertently, causes you to move him his warm hold. He makes a small noise of disapproval, before grabbing you by the shoulders, and gently returning you back into his hold, “Don’t move away from me, (Your Name), that’s not nice.”
He speaks to you as if you’re a child, his tone condescending, yet loving at the same time. It’s enough to make you visibly upset. Your frown deepens, as your shoulders go rigid. The large demon behind you makes a noise of annoyance, increasing the pressure of your massage until it’s almost painful, forcing you to relax in his hold.
“Don't be difficult- I just want to make you feel relaxed. The seal feels a lot better when you’re not all worked up.”
Grunting in response, you try to shrug him off, “I don’t need or want your seal. I want to go home,” His grip on you becomes 10x as tight, causing a Yelp to escape your gnawed lips.
“This is your Home, silly girl! Stop trying to fight me, okay? Or else I’ll become angry. You don’t want me to be angry, do you?” While he hadn’t raised a hand towards you during your entire stay, you wouldn’t put it past him to break your legs.
Swallowing thickly, your response is more blunt than intended, “Why are you doing this? I’m sure there’s millions of demons who would willingly belong to you. Why are you choosing a human girl? I won’t live for very long, and I most definitely don’t belong here. What do you gain?”
He hums in response, relishing the contact your back is making with his chest. The large demon leans down, kissing the side of your neck, smiling against your skin, “I gain the world when I have you. You’re the Most wonderful thing that's ever happened to me, my love. There’s no human or demon that can ever amount to you. There’s no need to worry about your life expectancy- once you have my seal, our life forces should be connected. You’ll continue to live as long as I do.”
Your entire body begins to shake, as you suck in a deep, quivering breath, “I don’t want to live forever. I don’t want to live as your plaything.”
Diavolo lets out a wry laugh, one that doesn’t express any joy, “You’re not a plaything at all, my love. I don’t know who told you that you’re less than your worth, but they’re wrong. You are to be my wife, the future mother of my children, and the queen of Devildom. There’s no need to worry about anything anymore, I will take care of you for the rest of our days.”
He starts to kiss the side of your neck once more, before he lays a large, warm hand against your left bosom. It lays flat on the space above your heart, seemingly trying to feel your heartbeat through your skin. That’s when you feel the unmistakable burn of a pact mark starting to take form. It feels as though lightning has struck your body, causing you to cease up in pain. None of the brothers’ pact marks felt like this.
The large demon behind you ‘tsk’s’ in mild frustration, using his abdomen to shift you farther back onto his chest, “Don’t fight me, my love. Just let my mark in, okay? I know it hurts right now, but if you give in, it should appear faster,” He runs his free hand through your hair, trying in vain to make you as comfortable as possible. A choked whimper escapes you through your grit teeth, your soul and mind trying in vain to stop the mark from seeping in, damning you to hell.
It feels as though the angels are weeping, sobbing at the fact that your soul is being taken against your will.
You sob uncontrollably, trying to fight off his will, but failing miserably. The pact mark sets in like a gunshot, causing your body to jerk violently, almost causing you to bite your tongue. Diavolo’s hold on you doesn’t lessen for a single moment, keeping your sweaty form against his. He kisses the spot behind your ear, smiling and laughing like a fool in love.
“There we go, my world. Now everyone will know who you belong to,” He suddenly stands to his feet, scooping you into his strong arms, “We have an eternity to love each other, and no one will ever get in our way,” He steps out of the large tub, bringing the both of you to his even larger glass door covered shower. The large demon sets you on the black marble shower bench, turning the water on with ease, “Now, it’s time to get ready, (Your Name), we’re to be married in only a few hours.”
-
A demon wedding isn’t much different from a human one. You still walk down the aisle, you still say vows, and there’s still a shitload of people (demons in this case) in the audience. The only real difference is that you’re in a red dress and the vows don’t even mention God.
It’s a surreal experience, that’s for sure.
You’d think that Diavolo’s father would have some concerns that his heir is marrying a human woman, but it seems that he’s quite pleased with the ordeal. He’d even sent part of himself to the ceremony; his cloak inscribed with a demonic language unknown to most demons, red eyes being the only thing seen from the darkness of his robe. Once his son and yourself finished your vows, he was seen clapping, gleaming teeth flashing from the darkness.
When it came time for a toast, the king of demons even spoke, saying that he’s proud of his son for uniting the human world and the demons, and that he’s glad that Diavolo found someone to spend eternity with. It was out of character, apparently, because the tan demon preened at his father’s praise.
“Thank you, Father, for understanding me,” Once he said his thanks, the piece of his father was transported back to the rest of his body.
After that, dinner began. Your friends tried to approach you, only to be sent away by Barbatos. No one that you knew was able to approach, but other nobles and ladies were able to come and say their well wishes.
It was exhausting.
The dress you’re being forced to wear is very revealing, highlighting the red haired demon’s marking on your chest. All the other pacts you made were erased from your body, which helped explain why you were in so much pain earlier in the day.
“Thank you all for coming! Feel free to stay and party! My wife and I are turning in for the night,” He was cut off by loud ‘oooo’s,’ insinuating the thing that you dread. The large demon only laughs in response, holding you closely to his muscled body, “But, feel free to help yourself to the bar- it’s free after all!” They all cheered, the loud noise only quieting once you’d stepped out of the ballroom. Once you’re in the hallway, your husband sweeps you off of your feet, gunning it for your shared bedroom. This is the moment you’ve been dreading. You were lucky before, because he wanted to wait until your marriage (due to you spouting out that you’re religious when he first tried), but now that you’re married… there’s no way he’d let you go.
You’re suddenly tossed onto your shared California King sized bed, body bouncing due to how stuffed the mattress is.  The large demon, without missing a beat, slams his hands down on yours, pinning you to the mattress. A large, wolfish grin covers his handsome face, as he stares down at you like you’re a snack to eat, “Now, my love, let me show you how much I love you.”
You shake your head, “No, I don’t want to,” He tilts his head in confusion, his grin dropping into a frown.
“You don’t… want to?” He leans in close to your face, placing a wet kiss on your trembling lips, “But, we’re married now! So, it’s okay if we-”
Once more, you shake your head, leaning away from him, “I’m not ready, Diavolo,” He opens his mouth, preparing to speak, but you cut him off, “We-we have eternity, right? Can’t we wait a little bit?”
Diavolo gazes deep into your (eye colour) eyes, searching for something you can’t understand. He releases you from his hold, allowing you to sit up without issue. He leans you back against his chest, your body placed between his thick thighs. Tucking his head against your neck, he breathes in your scent, “Okay, I’ll wait for you, my love. But, just know that I can’t be patient forever, okay? I want to make many beautiful heirs with you.”
Just the thought of children almost makes you gag, but you nod in understanding instead of speaking. At least he’s giving you mercy… for now.
