I’m Your Fatal Sin
Pairing: Daryl Dixon x Reader
Setting: Prison Era
Warnings: Typical TWD violence, descriptions of injuries
Summary: Daryl doesn’t like you going outside the safety of the prison.
Prompt: “I will leave now, or I’m going to say things I will regret later.” (Had to write in Daryl speak but it’s the same thing!)
A/N: Second request by @alldevilsarehere90. I took so long writing the first one that I did the second they asked for…and took equally as long. Apparently, “drabble” is not a word I’m familiar with and I should just call these novels. The prompt is waaaay up in the beginning but I just kept going. Sorry again, my friend! Also, I have not had this checked for errors and my brain is too tired tonight. I’ll go over and fix stuff tomorrow…. Because no beta, we die like men.
Tumblr media
You watched him pace the length of the room, fingertips rubbing roughly at his temples as if he was fighting off a headache. That would be you, Y/N. You thought, biting back a chuckle. Your group had arrived back at the prison, battered, bruised, and bleeding but hearts still beating. You counted that as a win.
Daryl was not so easily mollified.
He had stayed behind on this run, having only returned from hunting just as your group was heading out. He wasn’t happy that you were going out without him. It was all so amusing to you, personally. When the two of you had first met back at the quarry, you had taken one of the squirrels he had brought back, held it by the tail, and smacked him upside the head with it after he had said something particularly offensive. It was even funnier that you couldn’t remember now what it was that he had said. Regardless, he had retaliated by soaking you in the blood he drained from the rodent he had been skinning. Even in his anger back then, you had caught the look in his eye.
You weren’t afraid of him.
Your friendship started then and there. You spent more time in the Dixon camp than you had with your own boyfriend. That had not gone over well. Mark  was the younger brother of one of Ed Peletier’s friends. The moment Daryl had found you doing laundry and saw the shiner you sported, you were given your own small tent next to his and Merle’s. When the perpetrator had come looking for you, the Dixon brothers had formed an immovable wall in front of you.
You still weren’t sure if Mark had been killed by a walker like Merle had said.
Regardless, you were free. Daryl took you under his wing, teaching you to hunt and defend yourself. When he had finally handed you his beloved crossbow, you had laughed and asked if you needed to buy her dinner before squeezing her trigger.
“Stop.” Daryl had huffed, amusement gleaming in those blue eyes.
You had been out with the younger brother when Merle had been left abandoned. While you were angry, you knew how belligerent the man could be, so Rick’s explanation hadn’t seemed too far fetched to you. You went with the group to try and bring him home. You had taken the brunt of Daryl’s verbal aggression with grace, knowing he was in pain. He would never hurt you. That much you knew. When emotions were running high, Daryl floundered and would try to escape them by any means necessary. Even if that meant bucking against someone he cared about.
Still, you stayed.
Months had passed. You didn’t even try to keep up with that anymore, focusing more on the change of the seasons. It felt less like losing something if you only changed your perspective. The group became a family. You had lost the farm and wandered throughout the winter before finding the prison that was your home now.
You and Daryl had remained steadfast, but he continued to open up, bit by bit. First with Carol, then with Rick. Him coming out of his shell made you happy, watching him become more and more comfortable with the others. You’d be lying, though, if you said you didn’t worry about being replaced.
Then, after choosing the cells you all would call your rooms, you came back from your first shower to find the mattress missing from the one you had selected. Daryl was sitting on the top step that led down to the lower level, waiting for you.
“Did you take my mattress, Dixon?”
“Yep.” So nonchalant, like you had just asked if the sky was blue.
“You gonna tell me why?” You pressed, kicking his hip gently with the toe of your boot.
“Ya stay where I can keep a eye on ya.” He shrugged, continuing to fiddle with his crossbow.
“What if I wanted my own space, huh?” You sat next to him and bumped your shoulder into his.
“Cell ain’t goin’ nowhere. S’there if ya need it.”
You never seemed to need it, perfectly content on sharing his perch with him. You had brought things back from runs; books, pictures, and little what-nots that now decorated the area. He never complained beyond the occasional scoff or eyeroll.
And time marched on. Your role in the group was just as vital as anyone else now. You took watches, went on runs, and helped clear the fence. You lost sleep, gave up your portions of the rations to make sure everyone else stayed fed, and you sustained injuries. You weren’t afraid to get your hands dirty for the good of your family.
Which is exactly why you were now perched on one of the tables in the cafeteria, watching Daryl pace a hole into the concrete floor.
“No one died, Dixon.” You leaned back with your palms pressed against the table, collected demeanor the polar opposite of his pulsing anxiety.
“Ya coulda, though, Y/N!” The man snapped, his longer hair shifting to cover his face when he spun to look at you.
“Calm down before you have a stroke.” You mused with a smile.
“Can ya be serious for five fuckin’ seconds?”
You could have sworn you saw smoke boiling out of his ears. Damn, he was mad. “I am.” You sat up straight with your best attempt at stoicism. “Stress can absolutely trigger a stroke and—” You had started laughing while he stomped over to you and grabbed your shoulders.
“Stop, goddamnit!”
“Okay, okay.” You patted his forearm and willed yourself to choke back the amusement. “We’re all fine, Daryl.” Lips pressed into a thin line, he gave you a nod, one that continued even as he released your left shoulder to roughly flick the bandage on your thigh that concealed a deep cut Hershel had earlier stitched. You were taken aback, eyes widening at the tendrils of pain that snaked out from the tender wound. “Ow.” You deadpanned.
“Coulda been a lot worse, Y/N.” He seemed calmer now but his gaze was still intense, shoulders high and nostrils flaring.
“I know that!” You finally snapped back, twisting around until he let you go altogether and stepped out of your space. “Christ, Daryl, I could die just going to piss! I know how dangerous the things we have to do are!” You hated arguing with him but sometimes, brandishing your own anger was the only way to get through to him. He watched you, obviously chewing on the inside of his cheek before he brought his thumb up to inflict the same abuse.
“Nah, not you. Not anymore.” He shook his head and started to walk away.
“What the—” Pain radiated through your leg when you hastily hopped down a little too roughly in your attempt to keep up with him. “What’s that supposed to mean? Daryl? Daryl!” When he made it clear he had no intention of stopping, you had to sprint to cut him off at the door, pressing your palms against his chest to force him to a halt. “Where are you going? What did you mean?”
“M’tellin’ Rick ya ain’t goin’ out there no more.”
Your eyebrows shot up, mouth falling open. “Excuse me?”
“Ya heard me, Y/N.” He made to step around you but you moved with him. “Go get offa that leg.” He ordered in an attempt to persuade you into relenting. He knew better.
“Are you fucking kidding me? Who the hell are you to say where I can and can’t go?” You seethed. Now it was you who was fuming and pacing, though it wasn’t as intimidating with your profound limp. Daryl crossed his arms and squared his shoulders. You suddenly wanted to punch him square in the nose.
“Ya ain’t got no business out there. Ya can do plenty here to help.”
“Says the man that goes off hunting alone every other day!” You hissed. Your fists were clenched at your sides.
“That’s diff’rent.”
“Oh, please, enlighten me. This I’ve just got to hear.” You laughed emptily and mimicked his stance.
“Ya just ain’t goin’ and that’s that.” When you moved to cut him off again, he was ready. His arm caught you at the chest and kept you from crossing in front of him.
“Goddamnit, Daryl! This isn’t your decision!” You yelled, trailing after him once again. You grabbed his wrist but he shook you off. “I want to help!”
“Ya can help here!” He shot back without looking at you.
“Would you just stop?!”
“Nah.”
“Why the fuck do you even care?!”
That stopped him in his tracks, nearly making you crash into his back. His fists were clenching and unclenching at his sides, his posture radiating with tension. He turned his head to the side and focused on something, anything but you, speaking to you over his shoulder. Somehow, this made you more nervous than his livid pacing.
“Ya even hafta ask?” You didn’t respond, utterly confused. The archer gave you more time than necessary but when you remained silent, he shook his head and changed course, heading outdoors instead of to the cell blocks. “Do whatever ya want.”
Your anger dissipated. “Daryl, wait. Where are you going?”
“M’leavin’ now or I’ma say things I’ll regret later.”
You called his name again but the only reply was the slam of the heavy metal door.
Your search for him didn’t last long. You knew better than anyone that there was no finding Daryl when he didn’t want to be found. In his absence, you did the only thing you could do: sulk.
“What’s wrong, Y/N?” Carol queried, adjusting the basket of laundry on her hip after she stopped by the picnic table you had been perched at for the last 3 hours. Your only response was a heavy sigh. “Staring at the woods won’t make him come back any faster.” Your head shot up to reveal her knowing smile. Aside from you, Carol was the only other person to even relatively understand the younger Dixon. “What’d you argue about?” The silver-haired woman deposited the laundry on the table and took a seat across from you.
“He doesn’t want me to go on runs anymore.” A quiet reply while you toyed with some twine you had been using to hang up things around your space inside.
“And that bothers you?”
“Of course it does!” You snapped before quickly muttering an apology, though Carol didn’t seem affected. “It feels like he doesn’t trust me.”
“You know that’s bullshit.” Your mouth dropped open in disbelief. To your recollection, you had never before heard the woman utter even a syllable of a curse. She, of course, only offered a cheeky grin. “What? You think I can hang around you two and not pick up something?”
“Touché.” You nodded.
“Listen, Y/N,” she started and took your hand, “Daryl cares about you, more than he lets on.” She wouldn’t mention all the times he had come to her with questions. How he would mumble and blush when trying to figure something out to make you happy. How he would actively look for at least one thing to bring back for you from a run. “I think you should try to see this from his perspective.” Just like she had told him to see it from yours. “I think then you may be able to compromise, yeah?”
You nodded with a small smile. “Yeah. Yeah, I’ll think it over. Thanks, Carol.”
“Good.” The woman stood and grabbed up the basket. “Besides, you’re both insufferable when you’re fighting.” You reached out to give her a playful shove as she walked by and then patted the hand she laid briefly on your shoulder.
She was right. You didn’t want to keep fighting with Daryl. It made you both (and apparently everyone else) miserable. You’d have to come up with something in the middle.
The sky had faded to a pale lavender with the orange hue of the setting sun peeking over the trees. It was getting late and Daryl hadn’t returned. Your fingertips were sore from drumming on the table. Just as you stood with the intent to grab a weapon and go after him, a silhouette emerged from the treeline. There was a distinct outline of a crossbow on their back. The relief was immense and had you sinking back down onto the bench with your hand clutching the front of your shirt.
Your eyes stayed trained on him as he made his way past the walkers outside and entered the gate that was promptly closed behind him. From a distance, he appeared fine albeit a little dirty. He walked slowly with his head down, but he had been out all day, so you hoped that was nothing more than fatigue. He made it a little closer than you thought he would before he raised his head and his gaze went straight to you.
“Hey.” You offered, standing slowly. He gave you a nod and you thought he may walk on by, but he stopped just shy of the table. “You okay?” Another nod, his eyes seemingly studying your boots. “Look, Daryl—”
“I was wrong.” It came out so quickly that you had to think about it for a moment before you made sense of what he said. “Earlier. Was wrong. Ain’t got no right to tell ya what to do.”
This time, it was you who nodded. “I know why though.” He looked up, blue eyes peering from behind his hair.
“Ya do?”
“Yeah. You want to keep me safe. You care about me.” You smiled, small but genuine. A strange look crossed his face but was gone a moment later. Was that disappointment?
“Right.” He had started to chew on his thumbnail.
Licking your lips nervously, you continued. “I’ll do no more than two runs a week. And only when you’re going too.” You were absolutely certain you caught a ghost of a smile.
“Fair ‘nough.” He was shifting from foot to foot now, thumb still pressed against his lips. You had been so focused on the problem at hand that you hadn’t noticed the anxiety radiating from him in waves. Something was off. This had been too easy.
“Daryl, are you sure you’re okay?”
“Mhm, just—just tired.” His eyes said as much. You placed your hand on his bicep and ushered him along toward the door.
“Let’s get something to eat. I’m starving!” Had your focus not been ahead, you would have seen the way he only smiled once he looked down at you.
Tumblr media
“Got some formula for Lil Asskicker.” Daryl rounded the end of the aisle you were knelt in, displaying the four cans in his pack before closing it up and placing it on his shoulder.
“That’ll last her about 3 days.” You quirked, causing Daryl to snort behind you. “She’s growing like a little weed.” There wasn’t much left in the way of over the counter medications but you had scored some infants Tylenol and gas relief drops, as well as medication for the adults. “The food was pretty picked through. I got a couple of cans of fruit, though!” You placed three more bottles of tylenol in your bag and stood, your knees protesting the movement.
“Y’ready then?” Daryl turned to head to the front of the old store. Glenn and Maggie were set to meet the two of you in the parking lot.
“All set!” You confirmed, adjusting the backpack straps on your shoulders. You jogged to catch up with the archer, bumping into his side while pulling your knife from its sheath. Daryl smirked and ruffled your hair before gently shoving you away. “Pretty good haul, I think. Maybe we could stop by that gas—”
“Sshh.” The bowman had gone rigid, his hand just in front of your mouth. “Ya hear that?” It was faint at first but the closer the two of you moved towards the front of the store, the louder the thumping and moaning became.
“That sounds like an awful lot of walkers, Daryl.” You rounded the broken down checkout lanes to bring the doors into view and felt your stomach drop. The light that should have been filtering through the dusty glass doors was completely snuffed out by the multitude of bodies shuffling past. A glance at the archer found him tense and mirroring your expression. “Glenn and Maggie—” You whispered urgently.
“They’ll wait ‘em out. Ain’t their first rodeo.” He had lowered his crossbow to his side. “Ours neither. Get comfy, girl. Might be here a bit.” He hopped up to sit on one of the conveyors while you walked through one of the other lanes to look at some of the old magazines. From the corner of your eye, you saw a small piece of bright orange peeking out from under the checkout shelf.
“Oh my god!” You shrieked in an enthused whisper.
“What?” Daryl was on his feet, crossbow leveled with his eyes. “What’s wrong?”
You were already on your knees to retrieve the object of your excitement. “Reese’s cups!” You sprang up to your feet, waving the small package around triumphantly.
The archer let the crossbow fall to his side, his face hidden behind his palm. “You’re ridiculous.”
“Big word, Dixon. I’m proud.” You bumped him deliberately with your hip as you walked by, hopping up where he had just been perched. The man leaned his weapon against the shelf where the cash register was positioned and sat beside you. You didn’t ask if he wanted the second treat, just handing it over habitually. You always shared with him. He accepted it with a smirk you didn’t see since you were already taking the first bite of the stale candy. “Buttery baby Jesus.” You moaned, eyes rolling back.
Daryl barked a laugh, almost dropping the Reese’s. “M’not sure I wanna know why baby Jesus is buttery.” He was shaking his head when he caught your bewildered expression. “What?” He questioned around the first bite.
“They told me it couldn’t happen. That it was impossible.” You whispered, eyes wide. The look on his face said he was waiting for you to continue. “You… you laughed.”
His expression deadpanned. “Shtop.” He mumbled around the chocolate and peanut butter.
“I’m serious, Dixon. We were all wondering when we would stumble across the reanimated remains of your sense of humor.”
He swallowed and bumped you with his shoulder. “I hate ya.”
“I love you too.” Your lips pressed against his cheek and pulled away just as quickly. The man went rigid, eyes straight forward. You didn’t seem to notice, wandering around the front.
His blue eyes began to follow your movements, the tight feeling in his chest overpowering the butterflies fluttering madly in his stomach. His face was burning all the way to the tips of his ears. No longer hungry, he delicately wrapped the remaining Reese’s cup in its wrapper and put it in his bag to give to you later.
You had knelt down to look through a basket labeled ‘return to stock.’ “Score! Batteries!” You exclaimed, mostly to yourself, and quickly shoved the different sizes into your pack. Behind you, the archer cleared his throat.
“Think they’re gone.” He was motioning toward the door when you turned to acknowledge him.
You twisted to the other side to find nothing but dull light creeping through the glass. “Nice! You ready?”
“Uh—yeah. Yeah, let’s go.”
You both shouldered your packs and grabbed your weapons, moving almost silently through the door. Glenn and Maggie had undoubtedly hunkered down as well, so it was anyone’s guess who would arrive first at the meeting spot. Daryl followed behind you, walking backwards to ensure the area you couldn’t see stayed clear.
“I think we’re good. It’s this way. Maybe Glenn and—” You rounded the corner, voice cut off into surprised shriek as two walkers tumbled into you. The back of your head met the concrete with a sickening crack and black spots danced across your vision. There was a loud bang to your left that you couldn’t place. Your body moved almost on autopilot, fumbling for the weapon you had dropped while you held one walker back with your forearm and kicked back the other with your free leg. You could hear Daryl screaming your name above the blood rushing in your ears. “D-Daryl!” You managed around the bile creeping up your throat. What seemed like several minutes later, the weight above you vanished and your gun was thrust into your hands.
“C’mon, girl! Up we go!”
Daryl’s hands were on you, pulling you up haphazardly by your arm. His voice sounded muffled but strained, like he was shouting under water. The world tilted and spun, and you felt an arm tighten around your back that you hadn’t realized was even there. You blinked hard, willing your surroundings to come into focus, but Daryl’s jarring movements were aggravating the already present nausea. Before you could warn him, you listed to your right and retched, the bile burning the back of your throat.
“Shit!”
His voice was a little clearer now, but you must have thrown him off balance. You tumbled down, only barely catching yourself on your palms before you would have smashed face first into the puddle of sick on the asphalt. Daryl crashed into your back a second later but quickly averted his weight so he landed beside you. A string of curses left his mouth as he pushed himself up, your eyes trying to follow him but stopping short on the smear of crimson where he had fallen.
“Daryl, are—are you bleeding?” Am I bleeding? You were being hauled to your feet again, the motion almost too much. Your vision grayed at the edges and you felt a strange tingling in your limbs. Don’t pass out. Don’t pass out.
“Over here! Hurry!”
Glenn. You had never been so relieved to hear his voice. It was short lived as you felt yourself fading. Your body was shifted again and now the world was upside down, a strong grip pressing into your ribs and the side of your knees. The last thing you saw was the herd of walkers closing in before it all went dark.
Tumblr media
You awoke with a start, sitting up halfway before the pounding in your head made its presence known and you fell back with a grunt.
“Easy.”
Daryl. Thank god. You risked opening your eyes, finding him to be looking down at you from straight above. Scenery was flying by just beside his head. You were in the car, your head pillowed on Daryl’s lap. “Glenn? Maggie?” You asked quietly. You didn’t think you were physically capable of talking any louder.
“We’re here, Y/N.” Maggie’s voice came from the front seat. You felt her gentle touch in your arm and you immediately relaxed. You had all made it.
“What happened?” You asked, trying to keep your eyes focused on the archer when they wanted nothing more than to close and let you be dragged back into oblivion.
“Other half’a the herd came down on us. Ya cracked your melon when two’a ‘em took ya down.”
Worry and fatigue laced his voice but as you studied him, you could see the clear indicators of pain. Daryl always hid it well but you knew him better than anyone.
“You hurt?”
He shifted in the seat slightly and winced. “Ya must’a squeezed the trigger when ya went down. Shot me.”
Your eyes blew wide and you were instantly moving, trying to sit up. Your body seemed to disagree with that plan of action. “Where are you hit? How bad is it? Damn it!”
“Whoa! Hold up!” He pulled you back down, calloused finger smoothing the hair away from your face. “M’alright. Got the back’a my leg. Hershel’ll take care’a it.” You stared at him with wide, exhausted eyes. Were you actually lying on his wounded leg?
“I shot you?” You could feel the tears collecting on your lashes, guilt eating away at your insides, colliding with the nausea so hard that it made your vision swim. “I’m so sorry.” Your fingertips found his jaw, barely brushing the prickly hair there before your arm became too heavy to hold up.
“Ya didn’t do it on purpose, Y/N.”
“I would…never…” You suddenly felt exhaustion pulling you under, Daryl’s pleas for you to stay awake fading into white noise as blackness swallowed you up once again.
Tumblr media
It had been three days since the run. Two had seen you lying in bed with Hershel doing periodic checks to ensure that the concussion wasn’t something more serious. Daryl had been there too. He would only leave when threatened by Carol, forced to go rest himself. He never stayed gone long.  Rick had finally dragged an extra mattress in and placed it in the corner. The archer finally allowed himself to fall asleep and that’s how you found him when you had awoken near the end of day two. Hershel arrived to check your vitals and found you propped up on your elbows, watching Daryl sleep.
“How long has he been there?” You asked quietly. The old man smiled and released your wrist, satisfied with your pulse.
“It’d be easier to tell you when he wasn’t in here.” He mused while shaking two pills from a bottle. The sound didn’t disturb the bowman in the slightest, a testament to his exhaustion. “Take these.”
You trusted the old veterinarian and took the offered medication, just assuming it was for pain. Your eyes never left Daryl. “His leg— did it—will he—”
Hershel patted your own leg and waited for you to finally look at him. He shone a small light in your eyes and smiled again. “He’ll be fine. And so will you. You both just need to rest.”
You nodded and laid your head back on the pillow, turning on your side so you could keep Daryl in your sights. It didn’t take long for you to fall asleep. You didn’t hear Hershel leave.
Now, you were perched in the tower. It was the only thing Rick would allow you to do after Hershel released you. The sun had long ago set and the prison was dark and silent, save for the moans of the walkers shuffling around outside the fences. You had learned to tune them out when you were out there, allowing yourself to enjoy the fresh air and the quiet peace the night offered.
“Hey.”
You jerked around with a start, vision swimming only slightly as Daryl came into focus just beside the door leading to the ladder. He rubbed the back of his neck with one hand and chewed on the opposite thumbnail.
“Hi.” You smiled at him but it faded as he limped toward where you sat, hissing as he took a seat next to you. “Still hurts?”
“I’ll live.” He was looking out over the field and into the trees for a moment before turning to you. You avoided his gaze, and you knew he knew. “Ya alright?” You looked back at him and he tapped his finger against his forehead.
“Oh. Yeah. Yeah, I’m feeling much better.” A smile graced your lips once again, not quite reaching your eyes. Daryl nodded, his thumb to his mouth again. “You were right, you know.” His brow creased in confusion but you looked away, finding the treeline before continuing. “I shouldn’t be going out there anymore.”
The archer shook his head and moved his hand back to his lap. “Nah, Y/N. What happened was—”
“My fault.” You nodded resolutely, ignoring the twinge of discomfort it caused. “I wasn’t careful. I was distracted. I shot you.”
“That was a accident.”
“That doesn’t matter, Daryl!” Your voice escalated. The tears stinging your eyes threatened to fall. The walkers beyond the fence zeroed in on the noise and began to gather. The bowman glanced over, assessing the situation. When the fence held the extra weight, he looked back to you, your cheeks now wet before you angrily wiped at them with the back of your hand. “I’m a liability out there. You need someone better to—”
“Hey,” he cut you off, with a hand on your knee, “ya got my back out there. You do.” Daryl ducked down his head, searching for your gaze. “Ya got yer shit together. Y’know what yer doin’ out there. There ain’t no one I trust more. Ya hear me?”
Confusion twisted your expression. You turned to face him, careful that your legs didn’t bump his. “Then why?” You asked with a gentle shake of your head. “Why did you fight me so hard about going out?” You watched several emotions skitter across the archer’s face, but he settled on one: guilt. He scowled deeply, bottom lip caught between his teeth with his gaze anywhere but on you. “Daryl?”
“I, uh—” You saw a spot of blood on his lip before his tongue quickly erased it. “I just—need to know you’re safe.”
He wasn’t making much sense. “If you know I can take care of myself, why are you worried?”
His face began to redden, the color spreading down his neck and up to the tips of his ears. “Damnit, y’know I ain’t no good with words, kid!”
“Obviously. Because I’m not a kid.” You chuckled, your fingertips brushing his cheek before you used your palm to coax his head to turn. He kept his eyes stubbornly downcast, his hand immediately lifting his thumb towards his mouth. You intercepted and gently pushed his hand to his lap, keeping your own over it. “Just say what you mean.”
Daryl swallowed hard, his jaw clenching while he slumped in the chair. You knew where this was headed. He was trying to process something deep; something important. When faced head on with emotions, there was only one thing Daryl could count on: his anger. When his fingers folded into a fist below your hand, you didn’t let him pull away.
“We don’t need to talk about this. Let’s just table it for later, alright?” You smiled gently and moved to turn yourself forward, away from him.
This time, it was him that stopped you from pulling away. “Nah.” When you turned your face back to reassure him things were okay, he met you there. His lips pressed against yours firmly, almost aggressively. This definitely wasn’t something he had planned. Soon enough, the pressure minimized and you were able to react. Your brain was currently short-circuiting but you managed to move your mouth against his, finding a rhythm in the hungry dance.
Of all the things Daryl could “say” to you, this was definitely not on your bingo card for the year. His hands gently held the sides of your neck, calloused fingers sliding up your skin to tangle in your hair. Your own hands found purchase in the front of his vest, using it to keep him close to you; afraid that he would change his mind now that you had accepted his confession. And that’s what this was.
A confession.
Daryl was a man of action, not words. He had been for as long as you had been a part of his life. So this? You could decipher this pretty easily. He cared about you more than a friend. He was willing to be vulnerable with you. He trusted you. He worried about you. He wanted you close by and safe. He loved you. Was he in love with you? That was the only question left. You definitely didn’t mind waiting for the answer as long as he could keep kissing you like this.
You tried to pull back to breathe, but he held fast, tongue licking into your mouth the moment it opened to protest. Drawing a deep breath through your nose, you couldn’t help but let out a content sigh and allow yourself to taste him as well. Tobacco smoke and a hint of spice that you found delicable, craving more as you began to take charge. Releasing his vest, you opened your palms and pressed him against the back of the chair. Your lips never left his, even as the angle changed for you to be standing over him. He had released your hair and settled his palms on your hips as you lowered to straddle his lap.
You had begun to wonder just how far this would go when your full weight settled onto him, and he yelped (in a very manly way, if anyone asked) against your mouth. You pulled back, tripping over his boot and crashing toward the floor. Daryl tried to stop your descent, managing to catch your bicep which led to your hand gripping the front of his vest while your leg was still trapped behind his. You successfully pulled him off the chair, the pair of you meeting the concrete one right after the other.
You laid there for a moment, stunned and assessing the situation. When your eyes met Daryl’s wide blue gaze, you couldn’t stop the laughter that bubbled up from somewhere deep inside. The entire prison could probably hear you but you couldn’t find it in you to care. Especially when you heard the brief chuckle from beside you.
“Great first kiss, Dixon.” You let your head gingerly fall back, the stitched wound beneath your hair still tender. “Top notch.”
“Shut up.” There was no heat behind the words. In fact, he sounded rather relaxed. “First, huh?”
You grinned at the stars, wondering how red his face would be if you chose to look at him at that moment. “Of many.”
He hummed in reply. You started to rethink your words, worried that you were putting too much pressure on him, but then you felt his finger brush over the back of your hand. He didn’t do more than just press his hand against yours but allowed you to wrap your index finger around his. For several moments, the two of you laid there, silent but comfortable in it.
“I’m still on watch.” You finally said, already missing his touch when he moved his hand away. “I guess I should be, you know, watching.”
“Mhmm.” He replied. You turned your head to watch him struggle to his feet, hurrying to get up yourself to steady him. Once he found his balance, you let go and took a deep breath. You didn’t want this moment to end.
“I’ll see you tomorrow?”
“‘Course.” He gave you a look that meant you should have known the answer already.
“Night, Daryl.” You plopped back down onto your chair and looked out through your binoculars while you waited to hear the door close. When it didn’t, you turned to find him still standing a few feet away.
“You, uh—if ya want some company, I could—y’know, stay.” He was blushing again, rubbing the back of his neck like he had when he’d first arrived earlier. You’d never tell him how adorable he looked. He’d likely murder you in your sleep. So, you smiled and nodded before patting the other chair.
“Yeah, I’d like it if you stayed.” As he limped back over, you felt a warmth rise and settle in your chest, one you hadn’t felt since before the world ended. Actually, this was new. This was different. This was the beginning of something. Something beautiful born out of darkness and death. Something you’d fight like hell to hold onto.
And you’d never have to fight alone.

What was Daryl doing before he was taken?
Oh look, it feels like 2015 again and I’m combining evidence into one post for a theory. Bring it back for the remix. Okay so let’s go back to the script leak to start this theorising...
Tumblr media
So, this tells us many many things about the set up. It tells us that Carol is looking for Daryl, and has thus discovered he is missing. Her finding his bike cannot just be a random “Carol’s out for a walk and finds Daryl’s bike”. It is MOST likely they have an agreed place where they meet or leave stuff for each other. At the end of season 1 filming, there was a location that was made to look American. It appeared to feature a garage and a bathing station.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That seems a reasonable place for Carl and Daryl to meet up - especially the bathing stations SCREAMS Carol. So lets assume that’s what this is. Now, again, having Carol just rock up and Daryl’s not there, or his bike is and he’s not, with no background to it doesn’t really work (but this is TWD so it might happen but... assuming not). They need to establish that they have this meeting place, or exchange post or whatever it is. To do that they can either show Caryl there together in a flashback, or them separately there collecting and leaving letters and goods for one another.  Obviously the former is preferable, but whatever. We know Norman filmed at this location in his pre-France clothes, and with his bike:
Tumblr media
So at the very least we will see him there and not just proof he’s been there before. And presumably what happens is Carol shows up expecting to find him, and only find his stuff and proof he’s been there. But with this info in mind, let us look at the promo for the season and a theme that is emerging:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On it’s own, Daryl deserving a happy ending, is a bit “so what”. Particularly as it appears he went looking for it someplace not at home, and without the looming presence of Carol, it might be a very sucky thing for us Carylers. BUT it isn’t, and this is where it gets interesting...
Tumblr media
I’m sorry, what did you just say??? “He was SO CLOSE to getting what he wanted” BEFORE he was taken. Well that’s interesting.
Obviously when Daryl left, they were very vague about why and what he was looking for. Maybe it was Rick, and maybe he was close to finding Rick - but the “being where he wanted to be”, that doesn’t sound like Rick related. It does - of course - make me think back to Leah (*spit spit*) and “where I belong” . And it must be remembered that Daryl was clear in Find Me he KNEW where he belonged, and it was with his family. So we have a discord here - he knew he belonged with his people but he went out looking for something, and at some point while out looking he gets CLOSE to finding what he wants.
There’s only IMO one way to square that circle, and it comes clear when we go back to the idea of Daryl deserving his “happy ending” and spending the spin-off DESPERATELY trying to get back home. From that we can only assume home is where he wanted to be, getting what he wanted.
Thus, he had changed his mind. He was coming home. He had realised what he wanted was there, and always was. He was going home to CAROL. SHE is what he wanted.
Tumblr media
And it is possible that Carol knows that, and THAT is why she is on his tracks so fast. Because maybe at that meeting place I mentioned at the start, Daryl had told her - either in person, or in a letter, that he was coming home and she was what he wanted and where he wanted to be was with her, wherever she was. He just had to go do this thing first.
So, when he didn’t turn up, she knew it wasn’t just that he’d met someone, decided to settle someplace else. She KNEW he was coming home and him NOT meant something bad had gone down, and when she finds his bike - well bad luck anyone who has been involved in Daryl’s absence cos they are about to be dead.

in relation to the anonymous hate towards Beth, I think it's a whole, Beth was known for her suicide attempt, twd has many strong female characters and is what is considered "normal". So seeing this "weak" character I think annoyed the audience, personally I think Beth was such a human character because we saw her development on screen, unlike Michonne for example who was already rude from her first appearance. I don't know if Hershel was "judged" for going off drinking and leaving his daughters alone and being "weak" (which to me is also a human action, crying and grieving for your lost loved ones). I feel like male characters are "forgiven" for being human but in this case Beth is punished. 🤷‍♂️
Xoxo
For non-Spanish speakers, here's the translation of the Spanish part:
Moving on to another topic, in the comic Lori dies when the governor attacks the prison. Do you know the reason why on TV they made the decision to kill her in childbirth? And make Beth Judith the primary caretaker in the process? I honestly think they wanted to give her screen time.
As for Daryl's leaks, I prefer to believe that in those photos in which the actress appears dressed as a nun and Daryl delirious, Daryl is seeing Beth, I have no proof but no doubt either. Daryl is known for his hallucinations.
And finally, did you see Emily's Instagram stories?
I agree with what you said about her not being a strong character at the first, and since the audience is used to strong characters, they got a little annoyed. I can see that. But I think that was Gimple's point. A lot of people really would be puddles of goo if the zombie apocalypse truly happened. He wanted to show someone who started out weak but then became very strong. It's the ultimate character arc to go from a place of weakness to a place of strength.
In terms of Lori, they were always remixing things in the show as compared to the comics. The only thing they did 100% the same way was Glenn's death. And that's because it was so iconic. But other than that, they almost never did things the same way because they didn't want the show to be too predictable. They wanted to make it their own, and I'm glad that's the case.
As for Beth, I talked about this a few days ago (HERE). About how from the very beginning Gimple didn't simply make her the babysitter because he didn't know what else to do with her. He did it to foreshadow a future arc that had to do with children, especially kidnapped children, and babies. So, I believe he had major plans for Beth's arc, even back then.
I love the idea of Daryl being delirious in those pics and seeing Beth! I could see that, and it would be super interesting, wouldn't it?
I see most of Emily's stories, but you'd have to be more specific about which one. She posts a lot. 😉
Thanks for all your thoughts, Nonny. Xoxo! ☔️💕

I can't wait for your twd fic <3!
But imagine a twd au where Snape is with Lily (the interesting version of her) and the Marauders because as much as they don't like each other the constant threat of being eaten every 5 minutes mellows things out and the prospect of Harry brings them together
Basically the prison arch, Snape and pregnant Lily get separated from the rest and the fear makes Lily go into Labor, Snape takes Maggie's place and has to deliver Harry through a C-section and Lily makes him promise that he will take care of Harry if she doesn't make it. She doesn't, he has to put her down
James and the others are looking for them desperately when they hear a baby crying
They turn around and see Snape appearing covered in blood, pale, with tears going down his face, a baby on his arms and Lily nowhere in sight
Fast forward James probably sacrificed himself so that the rest can escape with Harry though they get separated. Snape ends up raising Harry and it's not until years later that they find Remus again who was bitten but for some reason hasn't turn and hear the news that Sirius set on fire a survivor establishment idk I'm vaguely following the prisoner of Azkaban
Thank you! I’m actually really excited for this fic as well 😆✨
I like where your heads at for the storyline🤔 I have the Harry and Lily situation a bit different in my head but I promise y’all are going to love it! It’s different from what happened in twd and more of a remixed version of what happened in the hp series.
Idk if you remember in twd there were walkers with W’s (or was it A’s?) carved in their foreheads. I’m going to play on that and it’s going to play a role with Harry (I’m sure y’all are catching on)
Also Sirius. I want him to be Shane but I don’t want him to die as early as Shane, so I might go the split up and reunite later route
And you might be onto something with Remus…I was trying to think of ways to play on the “werewolf” thing in the fic. It’s not realistic if he doesn’t turn tho…right?
Oh and idk if I’ve said this before but Peter is definitely going to have the Eugene roll
Also, I need feedback. Ofc in this AU, Voldemort isn’t going to look like he does in canon, so I was trying to find a fancast that could give Voldemort with a Negan attitude and I thought of Mads Mikkelsen. But then I realized ppl see him as Grindlewald (I don’t). Any suggestions?

Wait sorry so you’re not writing malex anymore? (Love ur fics!!) idk if I missed an announcement, sorry if I did!!
Thanks for the ask!
No announcement here. I am currently working on a Malex remix fic but, as that one has to be super-secret (other than my participation in the event), I couldn't include that.
Other than that, I've always had a ton of abandoned wips, regardless of fandom. If the inspiration hits, I will absolutely write more Malex fics (I wrote a twd fic 2-3 years after leaving the fandom, so, really, who knows). I just cannot control the muse and, right now, the muse wants gay pirates.
I hope you understand. And I appreciate the support!

RG movies and tv speculations
So since we’ve been getting lil non-confirmation news that the Rick movie(s) will be starting soon (like Jan. maybe), I’ve been thinking about it. Everyone’s reaction is all bringing back the same comments and concerns they said before. The fandom is skeptical and doubtful. Everyone’s tired and want closure. I get that. Anyway, I think it’s gonna happen at least the first one. We waited for like a year and some months for actual news of it starting. lol This all reminds me that it’s all show business, $$$, and hoping for GREAT writing and luck. Eh I really need to somehow have low expectations and stuff. :\ I think we waited more because of new deals, like movies being in theaters/Universal.(and it was always trilogy movies right?) I just want a good ending to Rick’s story. sigh.
I’m excited about the Rick movies starting, but then I’m like idk ..what to expect and, even if we get some kind of an idea, will it be good? idc about Jadis at all (but she’s the one who brings him to somewhere he’s at) Will Heath be there? ...and I hope Michonne will be in those movie(s)!!! It all comes down to great writing, cast, etc. Ahh.
I think I need to write down what I want and hope for...and also think of what would be the most disappointing ways and just be ...expecting less. bleh
-Random thought.. Maggie speculations... and spoilers!
I saw a post about if I still miss Maggie during s10. I realized that I don’t care that much. I guess it’s partly because of the writing and AMC...Maggie didn’t have other friends, loose end arcs in s9. I wasn’t that interested in Maggie in s8 or s9 because it’s like she was not with the TF that much and she’s mostly angry. :\ Then also her friends are all dead in Hilltop. But mainly, I don’t feel like I miss her because, even though it was a shitty “ending/exit” for her, she took her son and went with Georgie in a different community, and they’re doing fine. I think all the comic Maggie moments had been shown already - Negan plots. So in a way I feel Maggie’s story is done and fine/happy ending. But Maggie is returning to the show in s11 (and lil bit in s10 in some way that Idk). I think Maggie will be like a new character. Kind of like how everyone’s changed a bit from the big time jump. I think Maggie will be ..like comic Gov. Pamela or someone like that. Maggie might be president (like in the final comic issue/endgame/future.) Both comic characters are kinda similar. Idk but I’m curious what the writers will do with Maggie in s11. Maggie might be the ..erm “antagonist” or so. Yeah....I hope, if the show does it, it would be interesting and complex. But ofc it’s gonna rile up remaining TWD fans. Idk. ahh I really hope Hershel Jr isn’t gonna be like Sebastian. :| Idk..I liked Hershel Jr’s story even tho it upsets people but I liked his reasons. He misses his dad. So..I think s11 will be like s10 but kinda like Carol and Daryl/TF as the mains and Maggie introducing Commonwealth/communities..as a guest star? supporting character?. Kinda like we say Atlanta group but Morgan isn’t part of it but he’s still part of the group. Anyway, there’s gonna be a lot of traveling ..bigger world..political. Maggie is a main from the other side of the show.
-Other remixes (plots) I recently noticed that could be shown in s11. I think Aaron will be like comic Rick. Yumiko will be like comic Michonne with the lawyer stuff. Magna will be like comic Dwight-maybe, with not so loyal to Daryl. The mains will be adapting a lot to either comic Rick, Michonne, Carl, Andrea, Eugene’s plots.  Lydia is like Sophia or Carl. ???
- So I’m kinda wondering why the first movie is starting their pre-productions now in December. Idk much about movies and just speculating. I’m wondering if it’s to wait till DG is done filming and maybe even NR and MMB/and others to be done with s10. (filming was done before Thanksgiving). Maybe it’s also Jan to March is when the writers and GN are have time to write and set things up to film the movies. They had FTWD and TWD:WB to think about too and scripts. Idk but Gimple thinks he can do it. heh.
Anyway, so if it’s not about the timing or something, it would be cool if NR and MMB are part of the movie(s). They already have the contract deal to work for three years. Which it’s like I guess the show will end in s12? And that deal said like they’re also part of the TWD universe prj. so maybe they also do the movie(s). Idk. For me, I would love to have Carol and Daryl in the movie(s)! I think for show business it would be even better for Gimple to have all the mains and from other shows (FTWD, TWD:WB) in the movie(s) to be part of it. Because the movie(s) is a big deal right? They gotta sell it big. But Idk how that would work. Ahh I would love it if the movie(s) is a big Rlchonne and CaryI movie. :P
-My theory..my wishes...
I think Gimple kinda also wanted the first movie to be made after s10/after Michonne left the show-to find Rick. Idk when the movie will come out in theater but some fans say winter of 2020. So with that theory, it’s like s10 finale, movie-1, s11, movie-2, s12, and this could be where everyone comes together and do movie-3 for the final ending of Rick’s story (and maybe TWD show’s series finale).
oh tv gods, so many promises and commitments. O_O
-My wish so far(or an idea I hope it goes that I have rn)is that I want Carol and Daryl to be part of the movies...like C plot of the movie. I want Michonne to be reunited in first movie or be like a B-plot star of the movie.  Idk I have these ideas of how the movie(s) will go and I keep thinking of Lord of Rings for some reason or a movie where characters travel and reunite in the end.
-So I have these ideas so far of the movies. Michonne leaves to find Rick (without the kids). There’s a lot missions and traveling Michonne had to do to get to him, make friends, and maybe once she does find him and is with him, they both fight their way back home. First movie could be about why Rick couldn’t get back to his family, his recovery from his injury, introduce these new characters that are friends and foes.(Maybe some father and son trope in it?) Since, I’m a biased Carol fan/Caryler, I think Carol and Daryl will go travel with the Grimes kids to get the kids to be with their parents. I call it the Carol’s mission. Her story’s endgame might be like being able to have the Grimes kids protected, live, and have them be with their parents.
I feel like the Carol’s mission idea might not happen because it seem like it won’t work out. Maybe Carol’s mission will work in the third movie. I just think it’s part in plan (or not and writers just want Grimes legacy in the show and ratings stuff) that plan to have Carol to look after the Grimes kids as Michonne leaves in s10. Idk why Michonne will leave without her kids..but there’s a reason...idk what. Or, I’m wrong with this kids thing. From the s10B trailer and spoilers.., it seems like it’s Uncle Daryl looking after the Grimes kids. But what about Lydia? It seems like Carol is actually gonna be the one to look after her and be a parent figure to her. Idk why it’s like the writers switched this. In s9 and s10..writers kept like mentioning that Daryl is Lydia’s parent figure. So ?? Unless it’s some kinda pre-set up to the Caryl family? Carol bonding with Lydia, and Daryl bonding with Grimes kids..= Carylydia and Grimes kids.  Dixons and Grimes kids. ??? Anyway, I feel like Caryl will be part of the movies and travel or follow Michonne’s path to get her kids to her (in third movie maybe). It would be kinda like Caryl’s New Mexico dream/endgame in a way for them.
So those are my ideas..it’s a mess but it’s on the post. :) Now I go think of those headcanons/fanfics whenever and hope the movies goes... well.
-Man the writers gotta know their themes, tropes,...I hope uh Gimple really planned this story out.
Idk what the heck is gonna happen or how or even to think it will happen. But if the movie(s) do happen, I do hope it’s way better than the SW’s sequel trilogy movies. I hope the movies have good writing and a happy ending where the Grimes family are all together.

Beth repeats everywhere.
Okay so I'm back and excited about the upcoming episodes and while bummed we didn't see Beth in 1016. I am super excited about where this is heading...
Even the title names are in your face Bethyl at this point, I mean... Home sweet home?
If the spoilers are accurate-it's actually a good thing...
*Ducks for cover (please don't throw things at me) 🥴🤕
So after a long but very needed break (The world falling apart kinda made analyzing TWD seem very unimportant) I have decided to climb out of my cave to weigh in on the current spoilers that have everyone acting like they just sat on a cactus. 🌵
If correct, these spoilers confirm to me that Beth is just about to be reintroduced and also confirm what i have been saying about how the story is told in TWD for years.
Season 9 and 10 especially has been repeating, major Beth season 4 and 5 plot. And, there is a reason it's getting more and more blatant. It's coming to a head...
We've seen Beth's story on repeat using other characters to remind us of the past, and show us the future to a degree too.
It's called predicative programming, showing a shadow of what's coming before it actually does.
So this Leah...even if she is "real" (more on this a little later) IS BETH showing aspects of the past to subconsciously remind us of past Beth, and aspects of what's to come for future Beth.
On the topic of what's real and what's not, there is a very good case to be made, that this is all in Mr Dixon's (And ultimately Rick's) head.
A bit further on I will go through some of the blatant repeats in the story to remind you just how 'in your face' the repeats from season 4/5 have become in season 9,10.
But first I want to talk through what I think is most likely happening with these potential spoilers.
I see a few possibilities out of this, but none of them are actually bad.
Scenario 1. Leah is real and her and Daryl have a relationship in that cabin.
Why isn't this bad?
This maybe a difficult concept for some to grasp as they see all the characters separately, but...the writers make the characters all one, by moving them in and out of repeating rolls.
So as I stated above, Leah is a Beth fill in and the reason we most likely won't actually see a full Leah and Daryl love scene on screen, is because it's shadowing the real love scene to come which will be with the main fulfillment, Beth.
Leah is the shadow reminding us of Alone and Still, but Daryl's memory, desire and hope are all about Beth, not Leah.
I mean come on... A Cabin? A Dog? Them not getting along to start but then hints of romance? They eat together? She leaves and is never mentioned until years later? and a note? In your face Bethyl.
And this leads into scenario number two...
I've often wondered if all these characters actually originate out of the 'real' Rick's mind (yes i know the comics don't end that way, but that doesn't mean the TV show isn't going down that road potentially)
While unconscious in his hospital bed, the character of Rick comes alive in his mind.
Some might not like this concept, but It does make sense of the constant repeats in story. Which can be likened to a dream state and inception.
If we have been in the character Rick's mind all this time, then once Rick's character "left" in the helicopter season 9, it became "Daryl's" mind we entered (He became the last man standing) and that's when the story shifted and became extremely Beth heavy.
We possibly entered into Daryl's subconscious instead of Rick's and instantly started getting HUGE Beth symbolism.
Why would Daryl's mind/subconscious be showing him in an almost identical setting to what we saw him and Beth in season 4, in Still and Alone but with someone else instead?
Because it seems he has suppressed her memory as much as possible to cope (Leah not being mentioned all this time is another clue that this is actually about Beth), but it's building and building to a climax, which should soon end in the truth exploding from his subconscious and finally revealing that Daryl loved and desires Beth.
Rick's story started and ended with "finding his family"-that was his repeating story.
And until he left and handed the reins over to "Daryl's mind" we were never going to access Daryl's subconscious enough for the truth about Beth to be revealed.
As soon as it becomes Daryl's characters mind in control, we immediately start seeing major Beth repeats beginning.
I'm going back over some major repeats from 9/10 to show you how obvious the repeating story has become.
This became long and it's only the really obvious stuff that I'll cover, there is way more that could be included, and it will become extremely obvious by the time we reach the end, that this IS Beth’s story, just remixed.
Further down i will also explain scenario number 3.
Repeats: Starting with season 9
As soon as Rick's helicopter files away over a barn (which is very similar to the barn Daryl weeps over Beth next to)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We see Magna who has been a major Beth fill-in with her blond hair and prison tattoo, and in a relationship with a dark haired archer.
Tumblr media
We then meet grown up Judith with her braid and sheriffs hat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We first see Daryl in season 9, as he comes across Carol and Henry in the woods
Tumblr media
And he suddenly has a dog.
The camp site is a repeat of Beth and Daryl's "Suck-ass camp" from Still.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But having Dog there shows Daryl's desire to have Beth there. He desperately wanted to get her that dog in Alone.
Tumblr media
Daryl kills a snake in suck-ass camp number 2 (it’s black and hanging around his neck)
Tumblr media
Just like in Still...
Tumblr media
Carol asks Daryl to take Henry to Hilltop because he wants to learn blacksmithing.
Daryl says he doesn't want to babysit. Repeating the sarcastic line Beth says to Daryl about being her chaperone.
Beth going to get something she wants (get alcohol)
Tumblr media
Is Henry going to learn at the Hilltop blacksmith. In both cases Daryl does go with them even tho he initially protests.
Before they leave Henry hurts his ankle in a trap and Daryl provides an ointment to help it heal, a repeat of Beth's ankle in Alone and Daryl bandaging it for her.
Soon after we see Jesus get killed in a dark misty graveyard, Daryl's the one to immediately kill Jesus's murder. This was a combination of the Alone graveyard and Beth/Dawn at Grady.
We then see Henry get drunk on moonshine at Hilltop, and when Gage says they should have some more fun, his idea of fun is showing disrespect to the dead walker they trap in a pit. Henry kills it- just like Beth killing the walker in Still that Daryl was "having fun with".
Because of the moonshine Henry gets stuck in the cell block with Lydia (think Daryl saying "home sweet home") and in Still and Beth says "if we are going to be trapped (prisoners) again, might as well make the best of it".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We find out Lydia was abused like Daryl, and Henry keeps saying Lydia is a good person. Just like Beth and Daryl.
Tumblr media
Henry and Lydia are young Beth and Daryl, who bond during this time in the cell block, they get separated due to the prisoner exchange with Alden and Luke.
The introduction of Alpha (An evil twisted Beth) who looks like she is dead. Same with Beta being Daryl with his double knives and who would follow Alpha anywhere. Their roles are reserved in that he is the musical one with a singing career and has released albums (sounds familiar to Emily right?).
Alpha is referred to as Mother by Lydia, and the whisperers refer to themselves as a pack (symbolic of wolf's) which is fulfillment of the song at the end of Still about 'Mother being absent' and a 'party when the Wolf comes home'.
We see the prisoner exchange (Luke and Alden for Lydia) from a nomad group and a fixed community. A repeat of Grady
We then see a Henry, Lydia rescue mission from Connie and Daryl in a building with a elevator shaft that Daryl pushes Beta into (Grady) repeating Beth pushing the officer down the elevator.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As Daryl and Beta fight, Daryl stabs him where Beth stabs Dawn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beta keeps yelling at Daryl "Where is she?" Daryl then stabs Beta in the same spot as Beth stabs Dawn. Repeating Daryl's desperate search for Beth from season 5 and how it ends.
Just before Beta gets pushed into the elevator he says "All I want is the girl", referring to Lydia but it shows Daryl's subconscious desire when going to Grady was just wanting the girl too (Beth).
The song at the beginning of 914 when pregnant Michonne is looking for Rick, is about dream catchers and dreaming. Which could be a hint at this being a dream state.
The episode also repeats the theme from the Grove, messed up children (Lizzy) willing and even happy about killing (Mica). The episode focuses on children killing dear just like The Grove and Josalin teaches them they must be strong, not weak just like Carol taught the kids in season 4. The timeline in this episode includes Henry getting his leg patched up at Alexandria with Lydia (another repeat of Beth's ankle injury) which would have happened around the same time as the events in the Grove.
We see Miles and Hilda running from walkers through the woods, him wearing plaid and her a cardigan just like Beth and Daryl in Still/Alone
Tumblr media
They just happen to come across somewhere safe (Hilltop) but that eventually leads to her being scalped and Miles gets his face turned into a whisperer mask so he effectively ends up "walking around like a dead man" which is a reminder of what Len says to Daryl in season 4 referring to Daryl being miserable due to losing Beth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Connie and Kelly fight about Connie not saying goodbye when she leaves with Daryl to rescue Henry. A reminder of  Beth and Daryl's conversation about not saying goodbye at the prison.
When next we see Beta and Daryl realises he survived being pushed into the elevator shaft.
Beta says to Daryl "You just had to give me the girl, no one else had to die, now that deal is done".
Same theme and mentality of Daryl when planning to rescue Beth from Grady.
He wanted everyone to go home and no one to die so he rejected Rick's plan of quietly slitting everyone's throats and hoped for a peaceful trade . But once Beth was lost to him, that deal was done and he instantly opens fire on Dawn.
The whisperers then kill Henry and the other's by quietly sneaking into Kingdom, taking them, and eventually slitting their throats and cutting their heads off.
All because they couldn't get Lydia back. The tactics were reversed. And in both situations the main Dr was not killed (Edwards and Siddiq)
Henry is killed and Lydia is miserable enough to almost commit suicide while the group is traveling through a snow storm from Kingdom to Alexandria. This is a repeat and reverse of the group traveling from Alexander in a heat wave and drought while Daryl was miserable.
Season 10
We see Siddiq keep having flashbacks about those that were killed at the fair.
Negan in prison at Alexandria is a repeat of Beth as a prisoner in Grady.
In 10.02 (1010) we get Alpha and Beta's back story from 7 years earlier. They are both in a addiction treatment Facility with hallways reminiscent of Grady, Beta has written on the walls 'Why am I STILL ALONE'. hint much?
Tumblr media
Alpha tells Beta that she doesn't die easily. A repeat of Beth telling Daryl that even tho he looks at her like just another dead girl, she isn't.
Alpha starts singing/humming when she hears Beta humming and he tells her to stop singing and never do it again. Repeating Daryl yelling at/mocking Beth about her singing in Still, and a reverse of Alone when he tells her to keep on singing.
Beta asks for Alpha's name and she responds with "The dead don't have names". Reinforcing the theme from Still of Beth telling Daryl that she knows he sees her as just another dead girl, and that's why he's afraid to get too close to her.
We see the introduction of the whisperer sisters (twisted versions of Maggie and Beth from season 4/5) one of which-a blond, has just lost a baby (Beth and Judith) and she eventually dies.
Beta and Alpha talk about what the dead feel, Alpha says "nothing" repeating Beth yelling at Daryl "Do you feel anything?"
Later we find out Beta's brother was being treated in that facility for addiction, repeating Daryl telling Beth about Merle and how he was always high. Alpha is the one to kill Beta's brother, repeating Beth telling Daryl "You got away from it" meaning Merle and his influence, and Beth's insistence on him staying who he is, kept him from becoming his brother.
The very next scene is current time and shows Beta telling Alpha (Just after the satellite hits) that he saw smoke at the boarder. Insinuating the fire from the satellite also represents the fire from the cabin in Still which was also right after Beth and Daryl's talk about Merle and how he got away from him.
Alpha and Beta then interlock fingers just like Beth and Daryl in Alone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Whisperer sisters also have a conversation about how Alpha killed Lydia (which she lied about) and Alpha told them that she didn't shed one tear when Lydia died. One of the whisperer sisters says "She is Alpha, she doesn't cry."  repeating Beth's "I don't cry anymore Daryl".
Beta finds out Alpha lied about Lydia being dead and yells at her "she is never coming back, she is GONE! Alpha." Repeating Daryl and Rick's conversation about Beth being just gone.
Tumblr media
The beginning of 1003 shows Alexandria get wave after wave of walkers because of the fire from the Satellite (Sill cabin) which is a repeat of the walkers being drawn to the cabin while Beth and Daryl are still watching it burn. 413 opens with Maggie, Sasha and Bob fighting waves of walkers in the fog, and the Grove episode which happened on the same timeline showed burned walkers coming to the cabin Carol, Ty and the girls were in.
It's repeating that era.
The fighters at Alexandria are exhausted and Gabriel tells Aaron he has to use Negan to fight because they are low on fighters, he says pointing to Negan then Aaron "Peanut butter meet jelly" repeating the peanut butter Beth eats in Alone and Jelly Daryl eats.
Carol, Daryl and Michonne stay the night at Barnett academy home of the foxhound. Repeating the dog theme from Alone.
Tumblr media
The description of the episode says "The group stays at the academy but Carol falls into a trap." Once again Repeating the Alone/foot trap/dog/Grady/trap theme.
Tumblr media
Carol calls for Daryl to help her once she steps in the trap.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This trap causes Carol to fall and hurt her arm badly repeating Beth's arm injury from season 5 when she wakes up with her arm in a cast.
Rosita and Eugene have an argument about how he loves her, and he says that he wished she would would re-zone him into love town, and hoped she'd changed her mind. (Changed your mind? Love? Yeah not spelling this one out for you)
This same episode Carol "wakes up" smiling but actually dreaming of domestic bliss with Daryl preparing her food, they have run out of jam/jelly. Probably because Daryl ate it all lol (once again Alone on repeat)
1006 Carol and Daryl go looking for Negan (the missing prisoner) a repeat of consumed 506 with Daryl and Carol searching for Beth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the same time we see a focus on the doctors/medical ward of Alexandria due to the contaminated water making everyone sick. A reminder of Grady.
We also have Eugene on the radio broadcasting to try and reach a new community, which eventually leads to him and the others in 1016 ending up at the end of the train tracks with train cars and the meeting of a new group.
Which is repeating terminus, who were broadcasting on the radio too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is on a mission to meet the new potential love of his life (Stephanie) at the same time Daryl and Carol are out on their search for the missing prisoner.
We see the whisperer doctor (Dante) plant himself into Alexandria and he eventually kills the second doctor (Siddiq) repeating but twisting the Grady story of Dr Edwards using Beth to kill the new doctor that comes into Grady.
Before he kills Siddiq however, Dante uses poison and kill another whisperer who gets put in the jail cell at Alexandria, he then blames the mistaken medication that killed the whisperer on Siddiq. Repeating Dr Edwards poisoning the new Dr that came into Grady while blaming Beth.
Lydia runs away from Alexandria during the time Dante kills Siddiq.
While Lydia (the girl) is missing and no one knows where she is, father Gabriel oversees Siddiqs funeral. Repeating Ty's funeral from season 5 while no one knew what became of Beth. The funeral scene emphasizes the sprinkling of dirt into the grave just like we saw with Ty.
Next we see a father Gabriel watching a video log of Dante when he first arrived at Alexandria
Tumblr media
repeating the groups from seasons 4/5 arriving at Alexandria and doing video logs with Diana.
Tumblr media
Aaron and Gracie are seen taking about vehicle registration plates and the different states, repeating Aaron and Eric's obsession with collecting them all in season 4/5
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While searching for Alpha, Carol almost steps in an animal trap and Daryl saves her. Another repeat of Beth's animal trap.
Soon after the animal trap, Carol then runs after Alpha leading the group into a trap in the cave, repeating her running into the trap at Grady and being hit by the car and the leading of the group to Grady.
While in the cave we see a bird cage, like we see in Beth's cell back at the prison, the bird cage representing her at Grady.
Carol is rash wanting revenge and stupidly drops the explosive causing the group to think Connie and Magna are dead. Beth at Grady rashly stabs Dawn, causing the group to think she is dead.
We next see a depiction of resurrection when Beta comes out the grave while sneaking into Alexandria.
Tumblr media
Daryl and Alpha fight, Alpha after fighting with Daryl wakes up from passing out, she is reborn stronger.
Eugene takes to Rosita about the probability of never seeing Father Gabriel and the others from Alexandria again because Alpha's horde is coming to Hilltop. Rosita tells Eugene to stop, repeating Beth and Daryl's argument in Still about never seeing Maggie again and Beth yelling at him to stop.
Eugene and Rosita then share some alcohol (moonshine) depicting Beth and Daryl doing the same.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rosita tells Eugene he has no romantic game which we all know applies to Daryl too.
Before the fight/fire at Hilltop, Daryl tells Judith that he is afraid a little bit. With Beth he wouldn't admit he was afraid of losing people, he cared about.
We then see Hilltop get drenched in a clear flammable liquid (tree sap) and set on fire (The Hilltop fire represents the cabin Daryl and Beth Burn)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The episode with Virgil and Michonne is fascinating and aspects in it, could well be repeated with Daryl and Leah. This episode could be a foreshadow of: Scenario number 3. It's in part a hallucination.
In the Virgil/Michonne episode we see Michonne get drugged and she sees what the past would have been like if she'd chosen a different road. She describes what she saw in her hallucinations to Virgil, as losing her family and that it was Hell to see.
Virgil has taken the drugged tea before and he describes it as heaven because it reunited him with his family and he hoped it would do that for her. After coming out of the hallucination, Michonne spares Virgil's life and that act, ends up leading her to Rick's boots
Tumblr media
And the phone with the picture of her and Judith on it.
Tumblr media
The end of the episode ends in Michonne going to "Find him."
So the theme at play is: a Hallucination, then having mercy could lead to clue of a lost loved one finding the other. Interesting...
The note Daryl apparently leaves Leah says "Find me".
If Daryl is in some kind of drugged state during this episode, it could combine his immediate situation (Leah actually being there) and his memory and desire of Beth in a similar setting (Alone). If this scenario plays out Leah could take something of Daryl's and the follow on effect may well lead Beth to a clue about Daryl, leading to her finding him.
Just putting this idea out there as the hallucination theme is reinforced in season 10 with Siddiq and in the very next episode when Carol hallucinates Alpha, just after Alpha has been killed. Princess also mentions not being sure if she is hallucinating or not when she meets Eugene, Ezekiel and Yumiko, and wonders if they are real. And Beta hallucinates the walkers all looking to him and saying "this is the end of the world".
Tumblr media
So the Leah events maybe half true, half hallucination and this might be what leads to a clue and eventual reunion just as we assume Michonne's clues will eventually lead to a reunion with Rick.
After this episode the repeats in Bethyl themes get even more obvious.
Beta takes Alpha's head and goes off on his own to listen to music (Emily's song, a love song with lyrics about going to Hell to find your missing girl) Beta makes a mask of half her face. She's with him even when she's gone.
The last words Beta says to Alpha are "Thank you, I see now, thank you". Repeating the thank you note and how she taught Daryl to believe there are still good people.
Eugene's group going into the city and then on to meet the new group at the train yard, is a mix of the group traveling to Atlanta to get Beth and also traveling to Terminus. Both times at the train tracks with train cars and the group ends up surrounded and with weapons pointed at them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The hospital location in 1015 and 16 or "Tower" as they call it, and what happens especially with Judith and Daryl, is in my opinion the biggest clue we are close to her return.
Tumblr media
The hospital is in your face Grady and it's meant to remind you of that time.
Tumblr media
In the hospital we see Lydia patting cats
Tumblr media
A reminder of the claimers and Joe the claimer leader asking Daryl if he was a cat person, just after losing Beth at the funeral home, but before Grady.
Tumblr media
Lydia has just lost Henry, repeating that time. Also if you recall in season 4 just before the Daryl meets the Claimers, Michonne and Rick were separated he was injured and she eventually finds a clue to him and Carl. Michonne is currently looking for Rick again due to the clues she finds with Virgil.
Luke is working on fixing up a speaker system to play music. Music/Beth inside the hospital.
Outside the hospital, in the woods Judith finds Daryl and tells him she doesn't like it inside it smells like cat pee (another reminder of the claimers era) she then tells Daryl she wants to learn what he does.
Tumblr media
Just like Beth learning to track, we even get Judith tracking and identifying what she tracks as a walker while Daryl looks on proudly.
Tumblr media
The group's whole plan for 1016 is to safely get "The music" speaker system out of the tower/hospital, to lead the huge horde of walkers surrounds them away.
Exactly what we didn't get to see in the aftermath of Grady. Getting Beth (music) out of the hospital.
Carol putting the knife up her sleeve is repeating Beth putting the scissors in her cast.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Carol ends up getting her revenge without getting killed (Unlike Beth with Dawn) but ultimately it's Negan and Daryl that do the revenge killing for Carol and Beth. Carol says to Negan regarding killing Alpha" What took you so long", where as Daryl's reaction was instantaneous, in a split second and he had put a bullet in Dawn's head.
We also see Negan go down the elevator shaft with a rope, just like Beth did.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The music they play to get the walkers away from the hospital is "Burning down the house", another repeat of the Still cabin.
Tumblr media
When Negan comes across Beta, Beta runs at him immediately to kill him. Pushing him down he pulls out his knife and is about to kill Negan as he say "For Alpha". Beta Repeating Daryl's instant revenge on Dawn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The title of 1016 is A Certain Doom, which is actually what Coda should have been called, considering this episode actually went to plan (mostly) for our group. Hardly anyone dies, only Beatrice from Oceanside and they get rid of Beta and Alpha's horde.
Beta dies as Daryl kills him before he can kill Negan. As Beta dies we see Alpha flashbacks of her telling him, he is not broken, that they love nothing, fear nothing, feel nothing and it makes them free. This is the exact opposite of what Beth taught Daryl. She called him out on being afraid of feeling and loving/caring about others.
Season 9 and 10 culminates with Lydia (Daryl) saving Carol (Beth) from certain death, by not letting her go over the cliff with all the walkers.
Tumblr media
And standing on the edge of the cliff watching the horde fall down-along with Alpha's mask, Lydia and Carol interlink hands, just like Daryl and Beth in front of the grave. The Grave Beth and Daryl stand in front of says Father, while Lydia and Carol are looking at the end of Mother (Alpha)
Tumblr media
Hopefully soon we get to see the original version of all this, and not just a repeated shadow of Daryl unknowingly doing something that helped Beth survive in the aftermath of Grady.
The upcoming episodes have me itching to see, I'm already seeing more repeats from Alone, Coda and 510 to name a few.
Beth is absolutely spilling out of the story right now through all these parallels, I haven't even covered them all here but just the main standouts of season 9 and 10.
So no matter what happens with this Leah character, Beth is still coming back and it's going to be massive

I agree 100% that shippers take unnecessary stuff and call it proof. I see it with all shippers. And yeah there is stuff that is ignored that is largely proof with vmin and no one gives a chance to even question them for once. The thing that I felt kind a rude(?) was seeing non shippers being annoyed with the amount of ji/kook content. I get it, we want to see other bonds too! But shouldn't we support all bonds instead of getting upset? (talking abt others) I didn't like the fact seeing ppl being upset seeing ji/kook interact cuz let's face it they are close! but i like to appreciate all their bonds and I'm thankful to even seeing any of them interact even tho I prefer vmin. Also, I'm glad you said you're not bashing ji/kook bc i got a little worried. I don't like seeing other vmin blogs bash other bonds
Wrt to that jikook moment in dynamite christmas remix 1. Jm was obviously aware that they were being captured 2. I dont think what he was trying to do was to seem like he was hugging or being close to jk. I say this bcoz it was in their japan muster there is a moment where vmin are supposed to act cute tgt and jm says since they always show their cute side they should show their scry side and vmin do something where they kind of hide behind their arms and suddenly look twds the camera with intimidating stares and goof around. I couldnt find the link but i will link it when i do. To me what jm was doing at that time looked very similar to that. Like he was having a serious face for so long and during the end he gave a sweet smile and i think thats what he was going for. Hope this makes sense.
The thing that I felt kind a rude(?) was seeing non shippers being annoyed with the amount of ji/kook content. I get it, we want to see other bonds too! But shouldn't we support all bonds instead of getting upset?
But this is honestly why they get upset. Because there’s so much Ji / kook content. And they want to appreciate the other member’s bonds, but it’s hard when Ji / kook is all that’s being shown. (Still haven’t watch the 2019 memories)
But I want to say that I don’t feel like this. Ji / kook moments often make the cut, and it’s clear to me that BH pushes them to the front. But it doesn’t feel to me like they are “the center of the attention”. But maybe because I choose not to focus solely on them? I don’t know...
Also, I'm glad you said you're not bashing ji/kook bc i got a little worried.
Absolutely not. I hate the fact that people here feel so threatened by ji / kook that things are brought up in such a way that I almost have to sound like I’m attacking the ji / kook ship....which is why I’m doing this clearing out the inbox and trying to redirect things. Because it went a little out of hand and I got overwhelmed.
I. Adore. Jungkook. 100%. And I love Ji / kook’s relationship.
Jungkook has a special place in my heart because I’ve been a fan for so long. I’ve watched him since he was 15 years old, so I’ve watched him grow up.
I don’t mind talking about Ji / kook vs vmin. But people need to understand that I’m not here to invalidate Ji / kook. I see them being less likely than Vmin. But they’re friends (just like Vmin). First and foremost. And I won’t attack their friendship at all.
I will reject the reasons people try to convince me that they’re real unless I see value in them. But as many Ji / kook analyses as I’ve read, I’ve not read one to supply me with any information to change my mind.
And also.
I agree 100% that shippers take unnecessary stuff and call it proof. I see it with all shippers.
Guilty as charged. lol

I’m as excited about the spoilers as anyone but I just have to say... I NEVER want another “Carol is traumatized and pulling away from the group” storyline on TWD ever again. It’s been done once, remastered, remixed, sampled, whatever, for almost every fucking season of the show. STOP DOING THIS SHIT TO CAROL JUST BECAUSE MMB CAN ACT THE SHIT OUT OF ANGST.
1. Sophia is lost and returns as a walker. Enough said.
2. She watches T Dog get ripped to shreds to save her. Her best friend dies while she’s lost in the tombs.
3. Daryl leaves the prison without saying goodbye.
4. Rick kicks her out of the prison.
5. She’s forced to kill Lizzie after Lizzie kills Mika AND confesses to Tyresse that she was the one she killed his girlfriend.
6. Sam dies.
7. She tries to leave the community because she can’t handle it any more and gets shot. Multiple times.
8. Henry dies (kid number FIVE for those not keeping count)
This isn’t even counting all the other traumas that impacted the larger group like the Grady storyline, Glenn and Abe’s death, Terminus, etc.
Enough already! She doesn’t have to be blissfully happy, but can she stop being written so disproportionately affected by traumas in comparison to everyone else?

Any theories about the Daryl spin-off title? It’s officially “Pilgrim”
I don't actually think that's the official title. At least, not yet. It's still listed as simply "Daryl Dixon" on IMDb and other sites. I haven't seen anything that officially announces a name change.
This article (https://www.theilluminerdi.com/2022/12/15/the-walking-dead-daryl-dixon/) does say it's a working title, but that's specifically the opposite of an official, set in stone title.
All that said, if they do change it to Pilgrim, that's actually really interesting. There have been those pilgrim paintings that they've put out the past few seasons with various character's faces transposed onto the figures.
A pilgrimage is almost a religious quest of sorts, so it feeds into the idea of Beth being a Christ figure and Daryl going on a journey to find her. Here are some more thoughts from my fellow theorists:
@wdway:
The possible tie to the pilgrims Thanksgiving pictures was a great thought. If that's true then it makes the remix picture of Rick as George Washington crossing the Delaware even more important. Typically isn't a pilgrimage something of a religious Quest? From the Canterbury Tales kind of thing. I have to be honest my first thought when I read pilgrim was of John Wayne. You know the cowboy in so many Western movies he was famous for calling people pilgrim. It just reminded me of how Connie had called Daryl a cowboy.
Another thought I just had and this is influenced by me watching The DaVinci Code last week if this is somewhat of a religious Quest kind of twd's version of Daryl's quest for the Holy Grail which in my mind Beth=Holy Grail.
@galadrieljones:
Definitely has a religious connotation, also feels linked to the hero’s journey and the grail quest.
Daryl has been a sort of pilgrim for a while, always feeling like a fish out of water, or a stranger in a strange land. His many pilgrimages have failed, such as his searches for Sophia and for Rick. He achieves nothing on these journeys and returns to his daily life sans enlightenment. The same can be said of his searches for Merle and for Beth. Daryl is a searcher, another movie starring John Wayne, “The Searchers,” in which Wayne plays a Civil War vet who has been searching for his missing niece for many years, with his adopted nephew by his side.
The thing is it’s like I said, his searches have always failed. They can’t just keep making him a pilgrim on failed quests. At some point he must succeed, and that will likely yield his happy ending. Ofc I’m just getting back to Beth.
@wdway:
John Wayne's western movie the Searchers is such a classic. That was a great connection you made.
@galadrieljones:
I love that movie. On that note I’m going to ramble just a little bit since I randomly rewatched “Us” the other day. I never thought of Daryl as a John Wayne type because Rick has always been the “sheriff,” but I think he truly is a cowboy, it’s just he’s a different kind of cowboy. His heroism is just different from Rick’s. In “Us,” one of the claimers calls him Robin Hood, and I think that’s interesting since Robin Hood is an outlaw, like Daryl. Daryl wears the green cloak in recent seasons and ofc there’s his connection to the Greene family. Robin Hood is also a romantic character per his relationship with Maid Marian, who shares a lot of Beth attributes such as being a “high born” woman with a rebellious edge.
Anyway I think Robin Hood is a kind of cowboy archetype. The cowboy is a dichotomy of outlaw/sheriff, and Robin Hood is like Daryl in that they are both outlaws, as opposed to sheriffs (a la Rick). I like that Daryl would be the outlaw with a heart of gold, just as Rick is the sheriff with balls of steel. They fight the same fight but from different angles and with different approaches. Both will be necessary to win the coming war, as will their feminine counterparts (Beth/Michonne) who are both optimistic characters, maternal characters, and female warriors who show strongly feminine strengths, such as cunning, loyalty, pragmatism, and compassion.
@wdway:
I just did another search of what a Cowboy is. I did this a few weeks ago when I was talking about Frontier and cowboys. I'm going to give you three different definitions not including the obvious one of man on a horse herding cattle. These are so Daryl especially the last one.
Cowboy- a person who will get the job done no matter how difficult the task may be.
Cowboy- values honor, loyalty courage lie at the heart of The Cowboy Way.
Cowboy- willingness to keep going while facing insurmountable obstacles. It's in an attitude of never giving up even after experiencing failure upon failure.
Daryl may not heard cattle on a horse but he definitely fits the above definition of a cowboy.
@twdmusicboxmystery:
It's so funny that you mentioned Robin Hood. Even before I got to that part of the conversation, I was thinking about Robin Hood. And it's really round about, but I think it's because my brother came to visit me today, and we talked about Alan Rickman. I don't remember how we got onto it, but we mentioned Die Hard, and Harry Potter, and Robin Hood Prince of Thieves in which he plays the Sheriff of Nottingham. (Kevin Costner version.)
When we started talking about the word pilgrim, a specific part of that film started playing in my head. It's not even Alan Rickman who says it, lol, but his cousin, Guy of Gisborn (no idea if I'm spelling that right). He encounters Robin Hood and is annoyed with him and says, "Look, I advise you to move on, pilgrim." I"m not even sure why he uses that term. It may be that Robin told him he'd just arrived back in England from long travels. But that's a staple of the Robin Hood legend as he's usually returning from the crusades. So, all this just to say that there's definitely a link between Robin Hood (as you said, applied to Daryl in S4) and pilgrimages.
Hope all of this gives you some idea of the significance of the word "pilgrim" around Daryl, Nonny! Thanks for the Ask! Xoxo! ❄️💝

the opening card of fear the walking dead is literally the most annoying sound to my overly sensitive ears
but im starting a rewatch, just gonna keep updating this post below the cut
S1E01: “Pilot”
ahahhaha that millennial daughter of theirs not watching to eat gluten. Bet the local white moms who are casual watchers for Norman loved this joke
Alicia is the only character I have liked from the very beginning (besides like...Strand, but he wasn’t in the first ep)
Like I know everyone is up Madison’s ass (at least they were last time I checked and I’m a few seasons behind), but I don’t like her or Travis all that much
Nick changed for me, I used to hate him but he got a little better
Nick hating Travis???? A BIG FUCKING MOOD
Like I understand that as the viewers who watch TWD we’re supposed to be annoyed with their decisions, which is how I feel from the beginning, but I do realize that’s how they want us to feel.
“You need to take Christopher” “i DoNt WaNnA gO”
He’s literally asking his son, a teenager, to come and spend the weekend in the hospital with someone he barely knows, like what does he expect here??
the lead up draaaaags on for too long
*slams fist on desk* wheres isaac lahey
I think one of the main problems with the relationships in this show is that there’s no lead up and no development, they just immediately love each other. Like with Rick and Michonne, we had seasons of lead up, but not with these two. The writers of this are capable of writing good relationships, they just chose to drag these two heteros into the main stage without giving them any backstory in the beginning.
This liveblog is going to consist of me making quips and then actual analysis of stuff
i walked out of the room to go to the bathroom and didnt miss anything
this one kids got it covered, tobias is prolly still out there
thats what I expected Paul Rovia to be like at the beginning of the apocalypse. Everyone is like dicking around and hes like nah fam and yeets his body outta town
the whole show is on 123movies, btw, dont give amc the numbers by watching it on their site. They also don’t have the first few seasons available anyways, so
like why don’t they just go check the building instead of saying Nick was just drugged. Like I know he was high, but he saw dead bodies, they need to call the police and have them check that shit out. Instead Travis just goes there by himself. Ricky Grimes would not approve.
I forget how long until the actual apocalypse stuff happens, but I’m getting a teeny bit bored already.
“Something really bad happened there” “I don’t care” lmao WHAT, Madison????
“You cannot enable him” IM HOWLING THESE WORDS JUST CAME FROM MADISON’S MOUTH
I paused and 50 pop ups came up, thanks
you know alicia’s bf goes down
IS THAT ANDRE FROM VICTORIOUS
Tumblr media
ITS LEON
they really teased us with an almost-zombie huh almost like they knew we were bored
fffff there aint a doubt in my mind that anyone from the pilot except tobias and alicia survived this show
nick’s yeetin outta here
Like the concept of being in a huge city during the beginning was great, but we didn’t really get very much of that. The first few episodes especially when Travis was trying to get Chris and was stuck in that barber shop was great. Like that’s one of the few episodes of this that really stick in my mind. Those crazy fucking scenes were great.
“there’s no bodies...they couldn’t just get up and walk away” lollllll what clever writers WE HAVE
Like I’ll give Travis credit, he did try to be a good dad and stepdad...just bad timing, not great decisions in the end of the world, etc. Like the one scene where he was swearing he’d drag Nick to rehab??? That scene got me feelin’ stuff.
YES FINALLY SOME TENSION ON THE HIGHWAY LETS GO LESBIANS THIS IS THE WALKING FUCKING DEAD
lol a helicopter
you know why all these kids aren’t in school??? their parents are anti-vaxxers
walkers walkers walker walkers LETS GO THERES A WALKER
“killshot, bitch”
that took way too long to be the first episode goddamn
S1E02: “So Close, Yet So Far”
Ooooo cellphones are starting to go, shits getting good now
I’m like 30 minutes in and haven’t liveblogged anything, I’m bored
Well, that was that.
S1E03: “The Dog”
I hate this already because of the title we stan (1) TWD Dog in this house and his name is Dog Dixon
this star wars now???
Tumblr media
See, I’m a neutral gay who just likes to watch chaos. A chaotic neutral, if you will. So this episode is fucking WILD, like this is what I mentioned before.
the monopoly scene was wholesome
I guess I could see Paul joining in on this chaos for a bit until he realized oh shit this aint good chief THEN yeeting outta there
Fun fact, the truck they use for the first part of Fear is Daryl, Aaron, and Paul’s truck on the askjaaryl blog:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The music while they’re driving is on fucking point, like it kinda sounds like that one TWD theme (the hopeful one) but remixed.
The scene where all the lights in the city go off PHEW poetic cinema
Madison: DONT LET IT IN! Nick: ITS A DOG! -- Daryl felt that
I frozzee I thought for a hot minute that it was Dog
Tumblr media
He a cutie tho
that poor doggo im so sick of this show’s treatment towards them like
if anything happens to Dog, I think Norman will quit and rightfully so
i feel like just a few people in the post-apocalyptic world where zombie movies dont exist were just blessed with the knowledge that you have to shoot the head
damn chris really didnt do shit and got a whole broken nose huh
so far, stan list: alicia, victor strand (he hasnt appeared but yyknow), and chris sort of
they need a doctor but she never went to school before the end of hte world is this how alex feels all the time
S1E04: “Not Fade Away”
The opening to this one always really stuck with me. Like it’s so normal but you know it’s not.
lol remember that time everyone freaked the fuck out thinking this was Carl
Tumblr media
I feel like Ophelia and this soldier dude would have one of those conversations where it’s like “what do you like about me?” “you’re beautiful” “is that it?”
deadass don’t care if nick is over 18, she still hit her son who has an addiction he can’t control
I think this is where I started to hate Madison. Instead of blaming the people who did it, she blamed Liza. Because that makes sense.
S1E05: “Cobalt”
YOU ARE MY DAD YOURE MY DAD BOOGIE WOOGIE WOOGIE
Tumblr media
Strand out here scamming the heteros since before the apocalypse started
Paul Rovia and Victor Strand had a thing, you can’t change my mind
Everything but Strand’s scenes is boring to me and there is an extreme lack of those.
S1E06: “The Good Man”
Honestly, the relationship between Nick and Strand was really great.
“We’re gonna get along fine, Nick’s mom” is one of my favorite lines because like...it’s like a little kid talking to someone else’s parent, but he’s a grown ass man and he knows damn well how funny he is.
So wait did Ophelia die???
oop nope she good
lol she deadass apologizing that he got taken and not for beating her own son but OKAAAAAY
S2E01: “The Monster”
Here we go, a full length season this time. Let’s see how this goes.

Caryl and comic R&M thoughts
*spoilers from the SDCC trailer and 10x01 sneak peek. And comic spoilers.
*theories and all. Carol and tv-Mlchonne doing the more than one spider man meme in s10.
Caryl in the sneak peek is like in the comics with Rick and Mlchonne (again). But it was clever and it’s always seems clever when the TV writers move comic moments around and make it work. Daryl asking if Carol is still searching for Alpha (oh kinda like tv mlchonne and Gov.), is like in the comics kinda with Mlchonne searching for her daughters, and during that time is before they met the whisperers and Oceanside community. Tv writers made it that Alpha and whisperers move to somewhere warm in the winter. Idk it’s just clever and interesting how they move these pieces around. But the main thing, ofc is I want good writing and characters be in-character when they do comic adaptions and remixes.
Some differences is that Carol “pirated” / fished for a couple months offscreen, and I think her scene with Daryl is just them and probably more romantic-like. In the comics, Mlchonne “pirated”/ fished for yearssss offscreen, searching for her daughters and dealing with guilt. R&M had a different tone to it. More like worried, upset about his bff and platonic, Zeke asked about her. Look at TWD comic issue 139 and 140.
Tumblr media
Since, comic Mlchonne was away offscreen-there’s a Telltale game on what had happened during those pirating days. My theory or something, is that Carol is gonna do something similar to what pirate!Mlchonne went through in the game and be shown with Carol in s10. Well because of the spoiler of Carol seeing visions of dead!Henry. I think the game was about Mlchonne dealing with 7 stages of grief. Just guessing, Idk what’s the end point of it. Here’s a video about the game. Here.
Anyway, it just weird to see Caryl or TWD character by the beach. Is it LOST? lol  It’s really weird to see some Caryl scenes- one moment in trailer and the sneak peek be so similar to the comic R&M. I can see that adaption happening more with Caryl being like comic-R&M because those characters are leads in the story. They’re also BFF. But whatever writers will do ukno. I shipped comic-R&M but R&M didn’t go canon. It’s interesting what the tv writers are doing with with Caryl with comic R&M moments (at least in 10x01). Idk it’s like they’re making comic-R&M romantic. :) But the show can always remix and go original too for Caryl’s story.
So, learning that it’s very possible that Carol “pirated”/fished for months searching for Alpha, I laughed because I’m like what about tv Mlchonne and my theory of her searching for Rick (and finding daughter comic-Elodie. Alpha=Elodie=Rick lol)?
AHH So many Mlchonnes! Ok like really I think Carol is taking some parts of comic Michonne’s plot,  and tv-Mlchonne is taking the other parts hers at the same time. Carol is taking comic-Michonne’s parts AFTER breaking up Zeke,  and tv-Michonne is taking BEFORE she breakups Zeke. And, I think Carol is gonna take parts of the Mlchonne TTGame/during the time jump(tv’s “6 years later”). I think and theorize that Mlchonne is taking comic M’s parts that is after the Whisperer War, which is searching the radio people. But, I’m just guessing and Idk much about Mlchonne’s story in s10.
It’s all an interesting remix game going on to me.

So the Lydia and father figure Daryl stuff. Lol. All the ‘baddies’ have tried to recruit Daryl in some way or other as they think they see something in him. We know Daryl always wants to be the best he can be, for Carol, so it’s not going anywhere. Negan will take his spot in the limelight as per comics. Do you think Carol setting fire to Saviours over Henry was foreshadowing though? Maybe she’ll finally get scene with Negan. That’s if ANYTHING is true! *Bites finger nails for four months*
lol Yeah Daryl will be father figure to Lydia... 👀 I think 1 week back it was connie baby. Judith ,RJ ,Hershel jr were also in the list anyone but not Carol’s kid towards what the show is heavily implying
It was very clear that father figure comment was for future Daryl Henry bonding. Whoever didn't get it that time must have realised it was Henry in 907. I believe skybound has also said Daryl character will further change because of his responsibility to protect his best friend’s adopted son , so yes he will be his best to protect Henry and later I would say Lydia will come with the package. I would actually like Daryl-Lydia bonding for future but it's not what they are showing and it's not possible if Henry dies, he will not trust himself enough to take another responsibility
Carol-Negan scene would be a welcome both JDM and Melissa are so good with dialogues and many have ask for this, so it's possible as Kang is doing some fan service, However story wise it should be Daryl or Michonne with whom he already had a dynamic. My guess the Rick Negan part from comic will go to  Michonne and the Rick Alpha part is going to Carol/Daryl. Daryl will also get the Dwight part of forming militia for the war when they will wear walker mask like whisperers and infiltrate that's what was foreshadowed with Lydia comment to Daryl in trailer
A lot depends how they would like to change, since Kang is a comic fan like Gimple, they would not change much of story just do some remixes appropriate for the TV show
Yes months of nail biting but this is my first time being active in TWD fandom and I like speculation and theories lol, m kind of enjoying it until the Henry spoiler came
Thanks for the ask, have a nice day

Warning: TWD spoilers ahead. Read at your own risk.
Ever since the spoiler came out last week about the impending/probable death of Jesus on the TV show I`ve had time to do some thinking. At first I was angry and wanted to just leave the fandom, but I have realized that I can`t leave it completely. I love the Desus part way too much and feel that right now I can`t live without it. I`m extremely disappointed the TPTB at AMC have made this shitty decision in a long string of shitty decisions. How do they expect to keep on going when Andrew Lincoln, the heart of the show, is choosing to leave? What did they think would happen when they killed off Carl? Lauren Cohan is leaving, too. There are rumors of Ezekiel getting the comic book pike death. Yeah, he and Carol are finding some happiness, but that doesn`t last long in TWD universe does it. Danai Gurira`s contract is up at the end of Season 9 and since she has a lucrative movie career going for her would not find much reason to return. Norman Reedus may be getting a raise and a bit of a promotion, but I don`t think even Daryl can save the sinking ship. Even though one can appreciate his loyalty, it`s a bit of a fool`s paradise. I don`t know of a lot of people interested in watching ‘Ride With Daryl and Negan’. Negan is non-redemptive, unless you believe the Negan worshippers. (Nothing personal on JDM here. Just on the character of Negan.) He should have been killed off. Like I said--string of shitty decisions.
So I have to reconcile myself as to how I am going to approach my Desus fan fiction. I`m in the middle of writing one now, a sequel to my latest one on Ao3. I have always been a writer first so I can`t stop on something that I love and have taken very much to heart. I am hoping I will be able to continue to write Desus fan fiction because I see it as my escape and my retreat. It will be delving into AU a bit because I will be going off-canon. What is the “canon” of TWD universe anyway with all the remixing between comic and TV show? It`s confusing at times. So I feel comfortable in exploring the alternative pathways that “canon” refuses to go; or, more accurately, the lazy writing of the writers and showrunners refuse to go. I won`t be watching the show when Jesus exits, I don`t feel it deserves my loyalty anymore. I will remember the great interactions between Tom and Norman both on- and off-screen. I would like to think they would do a project together outside of TWD universe to bank on the chemistry they have between them, even play boyfriends.
I will continue to celebrate Desus. I haven`t read a lot of Desus fanfic by others because I didn`t want to be influenced while I was in the writing process. (It`s a hard and fast rule of mine.) Someday when I take a break or just want to read more than write, I will catch up. The few tidbits I have come across are quite good and I`ve seen recommendations from others. Please don`t delete them from Ao3! I wish Tom all my best in his future endeavors. I also wish Norman the best in a difficult situation.
