I get the hook from a statistics perspective and most of the time it probably even works but jesus christ they should not have taken him out. Bottom of the lineup due up, 83 pitches, 15 straight retired. And anything can still happen, we saw that in the Padres game, but god it feels so much worse when Duran and Jax come in and immediately fuck it up (the runs were Duran's but Jax certainly didn't help).

Games with a multi-run lead late are the only kind of game this team is capable of winning at the moment. We need to not lose those too.

Our middle-optimistic scenario is stumbling backwards into the playoffs in the last week of the season and hating every second of it. Our other scenario is, well. Fangraphs still gives us 89% odds to make the playoffs, but we had an 89% probability to win that game too.
