To who and for what?

There’s pretty much nothing in Terraria that I need on a full-game level that I don’t already have or can’t get myself.

I don’t really believe in the trading scene on PC when inventory editors exist. You either:

Spend a lot of time getting it yourself for the satisfaction of your perseverance paying off,

Spend a lot of time getting the plat or items to use to pay someone to spend a lot of time getting it for you, or, ultimately,

Pay someone to spend a lot of time getting it for you, only to have them use an editor to give themselves a copy to give to you for your payment... which they could also just inventory edit for themselves, making it kind of a mockery of the system.

My main complaint is for a self-contained multiplayer full run, where outside of building a few structures ahead of time and bringing something with us on game start, we don’t want much outside influence on the game such as multiple worlds for items or inputting items we couldn’t find.

Crates are a way to obtain items with limited numbers on a world, such as items from Sky chests or items in the Dungeon, especially critical ones for crafting long-term items like the Cobalt Shield or the Muramasa. This is especially important in multiplayer when there are more people to share critical items between.

Sky crates have been fairly easy to come by and I quickly filled the item gaps with them (aside from a Sky Loom, which we didn’t get and aren’t in crates, which makes me sad). Two crate potions and two sonar potions to filter the naff usually net me between 4 - 6 Sky crates.

15 sonar potions and having my friend drop off more fishing gear and better bait part way through and then using 7 crate potions on top of that? One dungeon crate.

Thankfully, our dungeon naturally had three Muramasas and three Cobalt Shields in it (yay for Large worlds), but if it didn’t, and we had to resort to these to fill the gaps, I would have been mighty displeased.

I almost thought either A) I was somehow not “in the dungeon enough” despite being on the back wall and hearing the music, or B) a patch bugged the game and made them unobtainable. But then I got the one, so apparently I’m either just stupidly unlucky or these are so rare as to make them completely worthless compared to just agreeing to gen a new world and get the extra items there.
