I'M NGL I FEEL BAD NOT BEING AS INVESTED AS OTHER PEOPLE IN WILL/LION. Marked "fanon gets them wrong" because I don't like a lot of people I have seen reducing Lion to the ""woman"" of the pairing. like the [SPOILERS] aside it's kind of weird and missing the point of their ambiguous gender identity. more thoughts under the cut because they are spoilery and my gf has not finished reading umnk yet

I say "I could write essays" because arc 7 is such a fantastic example of how umnk uses its narrators to twist the story's emotional highs/lows -- particularly from Kinzo's POV and how even an "objective" reader like Will can be fed stories filtered through rose-colored lenses but arrive at the "truth" somehow as long as they don't neglect the heart (in this case, Clair's heart, which Lion is a part of)

Anyway even if I can't 100% get emotionally invested in them compared to other umnk pairings I still find them very endearing... I really relate to the idea umnk presents of characters in stories just kind of, running away from you as an author and somehow writing themselves into existence, so the idea of Will/Lion's lives from arc 7 onward just being able to exist forever even if it is "within the catbox" of the endless worlds is so wonderful. and also very clever foreshadowing.

finished umnk arc 6 including the tea parties, i was about to start arc 7 but maybe i should roll 6 around in my head a bit more before i jump in. to be honest though there isn’t much in the way of mysteries this time around, a lot of the answers are given to you, and arc 6 pretty much confirmed my main culprit theory with its very last red truth.

i guess my only confusion stems from erika’s detective’s authority proclamation prior to getting shot by battler and beato? i’m assuming that since the gameboard is paused her detective’s authority only counts for the metaworld, or for erika conceptually as a character in the overarching story rather than her “piece” self on the gameboard. thus she is still the culprit for that specific gameboard, but for the “truth” of rokkenjima she is exempt from the list of culprits
