I would recommend reading the book "One Second After" which is a novel about the United States being hit with an EMP.

It took me a week to finish it because I had to take a two day break due to it was causing my stress levels to go up.

I am remembered in High School we had to watch the ABC mini-series "The Day After" which was about nuclear missiles being shot from Russia and the United States retaliating.

I re-watched it during the C-19 lockdowns in 2020,and thought why would our teacher have us watch this and we were in H.S.

How can an increased amount of carbon dioxide in a room affect human health?

As a result of recent studies carried out by scientists from different countries, it was found that even a small excess of the level of carbon dioxide in a room can be potentially hazardous to health if a person is in such a room every day for years, months or even weeks.

If you stay in a room for a long time where the level of carbon dioxide is higher than 600-800 ppm, carbon dioxide can affect the body in the following ways:

May cause negative changes in human blood

Normal acidity (pH) of human blood is about 7.4. Our body is tuned to this figure, it is necessary for the normal functioning of all enzyme and biological systems of the body. It is logical to assume that even small constant changes in blood acidity can have a very strong effect on a living being.

What happens when the concentration of carbon dioxide in the air that enters the body increases? The partial pressure of CO2 in our alveoli increases , its solubility in the blood increases and weak carbonic acid is formed (CO2 + H2O = H2CO3), which in turn decays into H + and HCO3-. The blood becomes acidic, which is scientifically called acidosis. The English scientist D.S. Robertson believes that the higher the concentration of CO2 in the air we constantly breathe, the lower the pH of the blood and the more acidic it has. The scientist identifies the following minimal physiological consequences of acidosis:

• overexcitation,            

• rapid heartbeat,            

• moderate increase in pressure.            

While stronger acidosis person becomes sluggish, lethargic, anxious appears. But all this is already happening with the concentrations of carbon dioxide that exist in modern premises with a large number of people. However, when a person goes out into the fresh air for a long time, everything gradually returns to normal.
