an oracle in olympus pt. 3
i’m sorry for how long this took, but i’m back at it again! shout out to @headcanonsfromanelfblossom for being my beta and all of you for inspiring me! <3 part 3 of ?
Olympus, the home of the gods. Mighty and grand, and in all its splendor!
...basically looked like something out of a vintage Aspen postcard. There was no plumes of clouds swirling over golden roads. Chariots and pegasus weren’t racing across the skyline. There wasn’t even a single Corinthian pillar in sight.
Lucky shoves her hands into the pockets of the 90’s print neon windbreaker Lucy lent to wear over her party dress from the night before. The wind is chilly, even for late Summer. She looks around, taking in the sight of the mountain ranges in the distance, and the closer rolling hills lined with pine trees. In the center of it all, a simple looking town laid there.
So far off from what she would draw of Olympus as a kid.
“Luce, just take Avernus Lake Boulevard, it’s the easiest way.” Jamie says, fishing her phone out of a glittery clutch bag.
Lucy shakes her head. “Alkyonian Lake Drive is what I used before, so I’ll use it again.” she argues. She swings the door of her Volkswagen open and looks to Lucky. “Ready?” She calls out. “We gotta hurry, traffic is a killer around the breakfast rush.”
Lucky looks away from the town with a pout. “Olympus is just like Aspen?” She asks a bit disheartened. “That’s another thing, why aren’t y’all in Greece?” She questions, climbing into the car.
In the front seat, Jamie buckles herself in. “We go back, like, now and then. But ever since mortals lost sight and belief in us,”she trails off and shrugs. “We just roam around, but Ran- er, Zeus took a real liking to Colorado so, we’ve been here for, like, the last hundred centuries.” She explains easily.
“Oh.” Lucky says nodding. “Looks like y’all like keepin’ it modern, too?”
Lucy starts up the car, pulling out of the driveway. “Well yeah. You’d expect us to just be in the Bronze Age forever?” She asks back. “We like a bit of modernism, too.”
A sheepish look crosses Lucky’s face. “I guess that makes sense.” She says quietly. Lucy chuckles, catching Lucky’s eyes in the rearview mirror.
“But sometimes Zeus feels nostalgic and we’ll have a day or two when this place looks a bit more how it used to.” She adds.
It would have been a quiet ride into town if it hadn’t been for a Gary Newman song blaring on the speakers.
Lucy taps her fingers in beat to the song on the steering wheel. Jamie’s own fingers tap rapidly the screen of her phone. Lucky leans up slightly, catching a glance of the name of who she was texting ‘A❤️💖 💝💘💗💞💕💓😍’
Smiling slightly Lucky slumps back down. ‘A’, she had a slight idea who that might have been. Absently, her hand lifts up and her fingers brush the lines of the splotchy birthmark on her chest.
What if she really was some reincarnated oracle from Ancient Greece?
‘No.’ Lucky pushes away the thought. ‘No, I am not Tyche. I’m Lucky.’
For the briefest and scariest second, a sense of uncertainty fills her.
‘Aren’t I?’
“So.” Lucky speaks up to stop her thinking from going any further. “Y-Y’all have mentioned some guy named Clyde. Who is he?”
The song comes to an end and finally silence fills the car.
Lucy draws out a long “Uuuhhh…”
Jamie pats her friend’s shoulder a few times as if to reset her. “He was, like, a good friend of Tyche.”
“He was a really good friend of hers.” Lucy adds, her voice dipping a little at ‘really’.
Before Lucky could respond, Jamie claps her hands. “Oh, let’s stop at Tweek’s!” She suggests. “We need to, like, make change and I could go for, like, some pastries.”
Lucy nods, flipping on the turn signal. “Good idea.” She agrees. They pull into a small plaza that sits nestled in the shadow of a mountain. Lucky leans forward, peering from between Lucy and Jamie. She hadn’t even noticed they passed by the town and were nearing a mountain range, a more shadowy looking one of all of them. Lucky starts to feel a heaviness grow in the pit of her stomach as they cruise by various shops in the rundown plaza.
‘Grief Counseling by Penthos’ read one sign. Next to it, another sign read ‘Geras’ Old Age Vintage Shop’. Lucy pulls up to the end of the shops, passing into a drive through. ‘Tweek Bros Coffee’ was painted across the window, the word ‘Curae’s’ had clearly been scraped off.
Rolling down the window, Lucy leans out as a static voice yelps from the drive thru.
“Gah! H-How can I help you?”
Lucy lifts her sunglasses. “Hey, Tweek. Give me and Jams our usual, please.” She orders. Turning to Lucky, she asks. “Want anything?”
“Uh.” Lucky blinks. “N-No. I think I’m okay. Don’t have much of an appetite right now.”
Lucy shrugs, calling back out. “And that’ll be it.”
“Y-Your total is f-five dollars. Aw, jeez!” The voice exclaims. Lucy zooms around the corner and plucks the ten dollar bill Jamie hands to her. At the window, a young man with wild blonde hair stands twitching and trembling.
“How’s it going, Tweek?” Lucy asks politely, taking the cups of beverage and bag. Tweek shakes, looking over his shoulder.
“Awful!” He cries. His head twitches and his eyes shut tight. “Pete!” He points to one of the shops in the plaza. “He’s going to kill me and take my shop, I just know it!” The girl follow his finger to look to the store front simply marked ‘Phobos’ where a sullen young man with dark hair stood, staring right at them.
Unblinking. Unmoving.
All three grimace and look away.
“I’ll try and talk to him.” Lucy offers. “We’re gonna see Cherry, Tweekie. Can I get coins as my change?”
“Rrgh.” Tweek replies, taking the money. He fumbles with the register before dropping three silver coins into Lucy’s hands. “Here!”
“Thanks, Tweek.” Lucy says sweetly. She gives a wiggly-fingered wave and drives off. Lucky finally finds her voice.
“That...that was Curae? Anxiety?” She asks, her voice pitching slightly. Lucy sips at her drink.
“Mmhm. Not a lot of mortals know that.” Lucy nods, making a check shape in the air with her finger. “Another point for the reincarnated Oracle!”
Lucky scoffs. “I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Classical Studies, majoring in Greek Mythology. I’m also working on earning my PhD in the field as well. And!” She lifts her pointer finger. “I was just hired as a docent at the Denver Art Museum heading the Greek Mythos exhibit so…” She makes an exaggerated air check mark. “Point for Lucky Siddalee Day, girl who worked her ass off in college!”
Lucy and Jamie peer at each other.
‘Nerd’ Lucy mouths.
Lucky folds her arms over her chest, looking out the window as the mountain comes closer as the Volkswagen drives on. “But, um, those names back in that plaza.” She says hesitantly, pointing over her shoulder  “Those...guys are the ones you’d kinda meet before…” Lucky trails off, unsure if she wants to even think of finishing the sentence she was about to speak.
The looming shadow of the mountain covers the car. Lucky looks out the window and feels her heart leap into her throat.
An immaculate sign made of white stone greets them. It’s black letters carved meticulously, into it, reading;
Welcome to Underworld Co.
A cool chill seems to settle over the Volkswagen as they drove further down into the cavern of the mountain. Any traces of the sun vanishes completely, and only the light of torches lit with flames guide them along. Rows and rows of cars occupy the parking spaces; cars ranging from decade to decade. Lucky swears she sees a Rolls-Royce 10 hp as they drive by.
Lucy turns the steering wheel left, then right, then left again. “Dick!” She exclaims when a wall comes up. Lucky blinks and rubs her eyes. Was that wall there before? Lucy shares a few choice swear words in modern English and ancient Greek as she throws the car into reverse.
Again, she turns left, then right...right one more time. Jamie shakes her head as another wall seems to magically appear. Lucky looks around. “What is all this?” She asks, ignoring Lucy’s agitated grumbling.
Jamie looks over her shoulder to her. “Parking garage. If Lucy, like, took, Avernus Lake Boulevard like I told her, we would’ve had valet parking.”
“Jamie.” Lucy rolls her eyes. “The last time I used valet, the harpies practically tore my car to shreds. And- aha!” Lucy veers the car to a sharp left into an empty spot. “See? Barely took us even twenty minutes.”
The three climb out of the Volkswagen and Lucky looks around the parking garage. It was a maze. Literally. The ramps shifted and turned, while walls appeared and vanished. A car zooms by them and screeches as the road turns and sends it crashing into a dead end. Lucy winces. “Hope they got insurance.” She comments lightly. The three avoid more cars speeding by and make their way to an elevator.
A wispy ghostly figure of a man is there to welcome them as the elevator doors slide open. Lucky yelps, covering her mouth. He turns his head and Lucky winces when she sees the gruesome way he met his end, with a long slash stretches across his throat. Lucky is sure her chest is pulsing visibly with each pound of her heart. Jamie easily catches her from tumbling off the curb.
“Going down?” The ghost asks politely. Lucy nods, as they step in. She passes a silver coin to the ghost who smiles. “Ah, going way down. Elevator Styx to Main Lobby!” It calls out, cranking a lever. The doors seal shut behind them, and Jamie grips onto the railings, bracing herself. Lucy does the same and looks to Lucky.
“Better hold on tight.” She warns.
Lucky isn’t sure what is more terrifying, the elevator plunging downward or the sound of the muzak cover of Lady by Styx blaring over the speakers. Either way, her screams echo the entire way down.
*
Lucky can barely appreciate the Corinthian columns she thought she would have seen earlier. She clings tightly to Lucy’s arm as they walk down the hallways of white marble walls accented with ebony and gold designs.
It was all so elegant, and yet, so cold.
“Oh, poor Lucky.” Jamie says, gently trying to push down the curls of Lucky’s hair that stuck up on end from the elevator ride. “It’s, like, taken me over, like, a thousand years to get used to that drop. Are you going to be alright?” She asks
Lucky nods. “J-Just waitin’ for my soul to catch up with my body.” She replies weakly.
A high pitched nasally voice speaks up as they step into the main lobby. “Welcome to the Underworld Co, what d’ya want?”
Lucky jumps, and looks up to catch sight of a harsh looking woman sitting at the front desk. Her hair seemed to slither, but not with snakes. Her skin was a pale grey and her hallowed eyes stare the three visitors down, as if they interrupted something very important.
“I said.” Comes her nasally voice again. “What. Do. You. Want.” She bites out, pointing her nail file at them with each word. “All My Demigods is on and you’re wasting my time!”
“Hey, Erinyes, um, One?” Lucy greets. The woman’s eyes seem to darken more. “Two.” Lucy corrects herself quickly. The woman relaxes a bit and goes back to filing her claws. “We need to see Cherry.”
Erinyes Two snorts. “Yeah? You and half of Olympus and the Mortal World. You’ll need tah schedule a meeting with the boss like everyone else.”
Lucy frowns slightly. “Listen, can you just tell her that Dionysus and Aphrodite are here to see her?”
At that Erinyes Two gasps over dramatically and puts a hand to her chest. “Oh, we have name-dropping gawds here! I’ll get right on that!” She nods. Lucy narrows her eyes as Erinyes Two smirks. “Sit down, wino-head. I’ll see if the boss can squeeze you in.”
Lucy takes one, two, and three breaths as Jamie guides her away from the front desk and to the waiting area. The chairs- actually, chaises were comfortable at least. Lucky sits down between Lucy and Jamie. Lucy sat nearly seething.
“I can’t stand dealing with Erinyes. Any of them.” She says, snatching up a magazine titled “Better Hearth and Home”. Across the room a wide screen flat TV showed the scene of a gorgon woman, slapping a Minotaur across the face.
Erinyes Two cackles. “He had that comin’” She says mainly to herself.
Lucky sits back. Lucy wasn’t kidding when she said that Olympus was keeping up with modern times, maybe even a bit more advanced. A wisp of another ghost floats down the hallway, a woman who appeared to be from another time and age, followed moments later by a man who looked like he stepped out of a 1950’s movie set. At the desk Erinyes Two sighs dreamily as he passes.
Lucky’s jaw drops slightly and she turns to Jamie. “Was that…?” She whispers in astonishment.
Jamie glances up from her phone and nods. “Yeah, that’s him.” She replies, there’s almost a hint of a sigh in her voice as well. “Who knew a ghost of a mortal would be such a star here in Olympus too?”
Another hour passes and Lucky begins to feel restless. There’s only so much daytime television that one can watch, in the Mortal world and Olympus. She feels like she’s read through all the magazines on the table; Demeter’s Fine Gardening, Chronos, Olympus Weekly. But Lucy and Jamie seem barely fazed by the dragging of time. That must’ve been one of the perks of being a goddess.
A loud banging of a door opening wide shakes the room. Erinyes Two jumps and stands at attention. “Good Afternoon, sir.” She greets politely. Any and all traces of the rudeness that she had greeted them with early disappeared entirely.
Lucky leans forward to see a man coming in. As wide as he was tall. He wore a black suit, designed with tiny floral prints of blood red roses, and twisting green stems. If one looked quick enough, hints of skulls could be caught between the prints of flowers. Was...was this Hades?
“Ooooh Koooore.” Lucy sing-songs teasingly, standing up.
At that, the man blisters and whips his head around towards them. There’s an angry color on his cheeks as his eyes narrow.
Oh. Oh no. Oh no freaking way.
Lucky giggles in disbelief, and covers her mouth to hide the sound. It’s too late, Persephone heard her.
“Who the hell are you?” He demands, storming over. Lucky stumbles, dropping her purse as she goes to stand up. Persephone is before her, practically towering above Lucky. There’s a light scent of flowers followed quickly by almost metallic smell. Lucky holds her breath and peers up at him.
Persephone pauses, his eyes widening slightly before his steely glare returns. “I said who the hell are you? Speak up, mortal!” He snaps- literally snapping his fingers with each word.
“Oh come off it, Kore.” Lucy cuts in, gently tugging Lucky away from his imposing figure. “Where’s Cherry?”
Persephone grunts in frustration. “Stop callin’ me that, you dumb drunk. Did you come here just to bother me?”
“Dear.” Comes a new voice. Soft and light. It’s spoken in a tone almost above a whisper, but it carries so well across the marble walls. At the voice, Persephone’s anger melts away, replaced with a charming smile and light in his eyes.
“Darling.” He calls back. “Your friends came to visit, seems they brought us another stray.” He shoots them a secret look, just before a woman comes around the corner.
Lucky stares in awe of the god of the underworld. Hades.
The very picture of elegance in a black dress of lace and satin, designed to match her lover’s; twisting patterns of vines and skulls. The red curls of her hair twisted carefully into a pilat crown.
Her gaze is slow, careful, and observant as she looks over Lucky. In that moment, Lucky isn’t sure if she should bow or curtsy. Or faint. That’s what she really felt like doing.
“Cherry.” Lucy greets, smiling. She’s standing by Lucky now, hanging an arm over her shoulders. “This is our new friend. We need your help.”
Persephone makes an agitated grunt. “You know we don’t spare mortal souls.”
“Eric.” Cherry says. So that was his name. Lucky thinks it suits him a bit more than Persephone. However, Persephone did have it’s darker meaning. Cherry gives her husband a gentle smile. “You are right. We do not spare souls so easily, however, she is not dead.” Her eyes look to Lucky again.
Lucky smiles weakly. “Well, guess ya wouldn’t be the ruler of the underworld if ya didn’t know that.” She jokes, hoping to ease the growing tension. Eric seems to bristle again.
Cherry doesn’t laugh, but her smile doesn’t falter either. “What is your name?” She asks.
“It’s…” Lucky begins. Her tongue nearly betrays her when she feels the letter T forming on her lips. “Lucky.” She says quickly. “It’s Lucky. That’s my name.”
At that, Cherry lifts her eyes to Lucy and Jamie. Lucky doesn’t see the way the two goddesses nod.
Jamie speaks up. “Cherry, do you think, like there may be a chance, like, she could be…”
Cherry turns her stunned gaze back to Lucky. “Tyche.” She says in a whisper.
Eric’s eyes grow wide. His body seems to freeze on the spot. He barely hears the way Cherry asks the three visitors to follow her to the Archive Room. He watches the short brunette follow after them. It could not be her. He regains feeling in his body and finally his brain begins to think again, saying the first thought that came to him.
“Oh, shit.”
*
The Archive Room is not unlike any other office space. Save for the floor to ceiling filing cabinets, long ladders and winged monsters soaring back and forth.
Lucky sits across from Cherry, watching as the goddess takes a box from one of the monsters, nodding her thanks. “I apologize for the mess.” Cherry says. “We are beginning to go...digital.” She finishes with a sigh.
Eric is not too far, drinking a large cup of mead. “It’s going to really help us be more organized and keep track of all these souls and more.” He points out. “It was my idea.” He adds grinning.
Lucy snorts. “Humble as always.”
Eric shows her a view of one of his fingers in a quick motion.
“These are the T files. Tyche’s name should be here.” Cherry’s fingers barely seem like they even graze the tips of the file tops. Lucky glances to Jamie and Lucy nervously. They smile back to her, and Jamie takes her hand, giving it a small squeeze.
“Don’t worry.” Jamie assures her.
Lucky watches as Cherry wordlessly scans the file from top to bottom. Her eyes moving in a swift but steady motion. Eric downs his mead and swallows loudly, watching the scene closely.
Cherry inhales sharply, her movements coming to a halt. “I do not...understand.” Cherry says. “Tyche is not listed here.”
“What?” Lucy, Lucky and Jamie all blurt out at once.
Eric is quick, he comes to Cherry’s side and takes the file box in his arms. “We’re in the process of going digital remember?” He points out. “Maybe her file was just taken out of order.”
Lucy doesn’t seem to accept the answer. “She has a mark. The one mortals carry if their souls return.”
Cherry opens her mouth, but Eric is the one to reply. “That rarely ever happens. Even then it takes a mortal nearly thousands of centuries of penance.” He explains quickly. “Your friend is...just some coincidence.”
“Yeah, I think we came here to talk with Cherry.” Lucy growls. “You know, the actual ruler here?”
Eric’s face goes red. “What makes you so sure about her anyway?!”
Lucky shoves away from the table, and stands. All eyes turn to her as she snatches the windbreaker up, “If no one has answers. I want to go home. Oracle or not.” She says. With a swift turn, she storms out of the room.
Jamie and Lucy begin to follow before Cherry lifts her hand to stop them. Wordlessly, she follows after Lucky.
*
Lucky leans against the wall, her head tilted back. Her eyes trace the patterns of gold traced through the marble. She counts to ten and closes her eyes. Still a strong unease racks her body.
What and why the hell was this happening to her?
This week began so, well, normally. Now all of a sudden…
“Dear, will you be alright?”
Lucky gasps and opens her eyes. Cherry is standing beside her. There’s a concerned look on her face. “I am sorry about everything that happened back there.” She continues. “I can only imagine how overwhelmed you may be feeling.”
Lucky grunts. “I am beyond overwhelmed.” She mumbles, crossing her arms. “Nothin’ is makin’ sense anymore. In the span of nearly 24 hours, I feel like I’ve been thrown into a bad dream I can’t wake up from. Suddenly, I can’t stop...doubting who I am.”
Cherry listens carefully. “You are having doubts. Do you feel less like yourself?”
“Ever since I heard Tyche.” Lucky sighs. “Tyche...Tyche. Lucky…” She pushes a hand to her head. “I can’t be some ancient oracle. It’s just ain’t possible.”
“Yet, you are here. The Underworld, Olympus…” Cherry says, motioning around. “Lucy says you are clear of drunkenness.”
Lucky laughs dryly. “My stars how I wish I was.” She rubs her arms and looks around the hallway before looking back to Cherry. “Do ya think I’m...I could be her?”
“It is possible. Yet, I would not understand how. Eric may be...severe. But he is correct. The way souls can return is quite rare.” Cherry explains. “However, something does present itself as odd.”
Right, the whole issue of Tyche’s name being missing. Maybe her file was replaced or lost in the transition. Lucky hums and closes her eyes.
“There is a way.” Cherry speaks up. “If you truly wish to find out if you are Tyche or not.”
Lucky looks to her again. “How?” She asks.
“Drink from the River Mnemosyne.” Cherry replies.
Lucky breathes in. Of course the River Mnemosyne could help. If she was Tyche, her memories would come back. She’d…
She’d no longer be Lucky.
“No.” Lucky says quickly. “No, no. I can’t” She shakes her head.
Cherry nods in understanding. “I respect that. Yet, you should know...word spreads fast in Olympus. Oracle or not. Your presence here is known.”
Lucky pales as Cherry finishes her warning. She seems every bit of the goddess of the underworld as her eyes seem to darken and her voice sends trembles through Lucky’s very bones “Some gods and goddesses will be eager to know the truth, my dear. Take care.”
*
Lucky breathes in the scent of her apartment. Cinnamon and worn books.
It’s so comforting.
Jamie thinks so as she lounges across the couch. “I’ve never stayed a whole night in the mortal realm in, like, years!” She says happily. “Or been to a sleepover!”
Lucky rolls her eyes and presses the popcorn button on the microwave. “Let’s not make it a habit.” She says. Lucy opens the fridge and takes out a bottle of root beer.
“I can make this wine, you know.” She offers. Lucky goes green slightly at the memory of the night before. Lucy shakes her head. “I guess not. Hey…”
“Hm?” Lucky prompts, fishing in a cabinet for a bowl.
“I’m sorry.” Lucy apologizes. “I got a bit extra with Eric and the news. Also, kidnapping you to Olympus.” She adds sheepishly. Lucky turns to Lucy and smiles slightly.
“Thank you.” She says, coming up to Lucy. “Promise you’ll ask me next time? And...keep helping me find out the truth? Slowly.”
Lucy grins tugging Lucky into a tight hug. “Promise.” She says. Lucky laughs, pulling away as the popcorn finished. They all pile onto the couch with Jamie and start the movie. Back to the Future.
After a while. Lucy lifts her hand. A long slender blunt is balanced between her fingers. “So...we’re against getting drunk. But, what about high?”
Jamie and Lucky share a look.
“Oh, what the hell.” Lucky sighs with a shrug. “I may or may not be some reincarnated oracle.”
Lucy lights it up, smiling. “That’s the spirit.”
*
Lucky sits on the floor and at the TV, the credits rolling. Behind her on the couch, Lucy and Jamie lay deep in their sleep. Their high being slept away slowly. They miss the way Lucky’s green eyes cast a slight glow in the darkness.
“Alas.” Lucky speaks up, her voice distant, reaching across time. “How mistrust will lead to misfortune. A great shadow hovers over Olympus. Ruin and dust shall be the gods kingdom.”
The TV goes dark and Lucky slumps over.

aurorastereo: pick up the phone - saved ringtones 2006-21
Bevallom, sose szerettem a telefonomat.
01. 00:00 KFT - Laár András lebeszéli a honoluluiakat (2007, Youtube) 02. 00:00 Juantrip - Shadows (1999, F-Communications) 03. 00:59 International Peoples Gang - Waiting Room (2006, em:t) 04. 02:07 Orbital - Know Where To Run (1999, FFRR) 05. 02:30 Space ‎- Magic Fly (1977, Vogue) 06. 03:41 Front 242 – Art Strategy (1992, New Dance, New Dance, New Dance) 07. 04:13 Haujobb - Sinus Problem (2001, Metropolis) 08. 04:38 Pete Namlook & HIA - Inner Sense (1999, Fax +49-69/450464) 09. 04:52 Coil - First Dark Ride (1997, Threshold House) 10. 05:12 The Chemical Brothers - Piku (1997, Astralwerks) 11. 05:55 Meat Beat Manifesto - No Words Necessary (2002, Run) 12. 06:33 Beck - Cellphone's Dead (2006, Interscope) 13. 06:51 Art of Noise – Paranoimia (1986, Chrysalis) 14. 07:31 The Future Sound of London - We Have Explosive, Pt. 3 (1997, Astralwerks) 15. 08:54 Meat Beat Manifesto - Simulacra (1996, Nothing) 16. 09:04 Orbital – What Happens Next (2004, Orbital Music) 17. 10:09 Underworld - Mmm Skyscraper I Love You (1994, Junior Boy's Own) 18. 10:59 Marklar monológ (1999, Kákabélű az űrben, South Park) 19. 11:12 Aes Dana – Onset Data (2002, Ultimae) 20. 11:29 Tori Amos - Precious Things (1991, Eastwest) 21. 12:01 Pete Namlook – Travelling Without Moving – Trip 6 (1994, Ambient World) 22. 12:40 Coil – Another Brown World (1995, Ars Nova) 23. 13:49 Leftfield - Rino's Prayer (1999, Hard Hands) 24. 14:22 The Orb – Prime Evil (2003, Cooking Vinyl) 25. 14:53 Download – Uhm (2007, Sub-Conscious Communications) 26. 15:25 Meat Beat Manifesto – Present for Sally (2019, Flexidisc) 27. 15:56 Underworld – Surfboy (1994, Junior Boy's Own) 28. 16:33 Edit – Blue (2001, Novamute) 29. 17:06 Female – Serve (Re-Group Edit)(2005, Tresor) 30. 17:18 Rabbit In The Moon - FLooRI.D.A (Dynamix II 's Non Stop Electro Bass)(1998, Hallucination) 31. 17:57 Illuminatus – Hope (1997, DMD) 32. 19:18 LFO – Blown (2003, WARP) 33. 20:29 Solar Fields – Blue Moon Station (2003, Ultimae) 34. 21:14 Front 242 – Crushed (1993, Epic) 35. 21:49 Gary Numan – Are Friends Electric? Samuel L. Jackson's 10 Best Movies, According To Rotten Tomatoes
Samuel L. Jackson is an actor who has appeared in a lot of movies, so to be among his 10 best (according to the critics who contribute to their Rotten Tomatoes scores) is quite an honor. This is an actor who has played a key role in the highest grossing movie franchise of all time (the Marvel Cinematic Universe) and a key role in the second highest grossing franchise of all time (the Star Wars saga), as well as regularly collaborating with the guy who is considered by many to be one of the greatest directors working today (Quentin Tarantino).
RELATED: Samuel L. Jackson's 10 Best Performances, Ranked
So, here are Samuel L. Jackson’s 10 Best Movies, According To Rotten Tomatoes.
10 TIE: Spider-Man: Far From Home (90%)
Tumblr media
Earlier this year, Samuel L. Jackson’s initial contract with Marvel Studios ran out with Captain Marvel. However, that didn’t stop him from appearing in Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home, with the latter setting up a large role for his character Nick Fury in the future in its post-credits scene. Jackson said recently he’d be happy to keep playing the character for another decade.
In Far From Home, he takes on the role of Peter Parker’s adult mentor, which was vacated by Tony Stark’s death in Endgame, except it turns out (SPOILER ALERT!) he was a Skrull in disguise, so he was never really there – he was in outer space the whole time.
9 TIE: Captain America: The Winter Soldier (90%)
Tumblr media
By the time we catch up with Nick Fury in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, he’s two years into seeing the success of his 20-year struggle to get a superhero team together for S.H.I.E.L.D. – and then he finds out that S.H.I.E.L.D. has secretly been run by Nazis for decades.
They send a highly trained, brainwashed assassin after him. He’s killed off before too long but midway through the movie, it’s revealed that he just faked his death remarkable well (like, stopping his own heart rate and getting a death certificate well). The Winter Soldier is a visceral, riveting, impeccable spy thriller that also happens to be a comic book movie.
8 Jurassic Park (91%)
Tumblr media
When Samuel L. Jackson was cast in Steven Spielberg’s mega hit adaptation of Michael Crichton’s novel Jurassic Park, he wasn’t the huge A-list star he’d go on to be. The character he played in the movie, Ray Arnold, was based on John Arnold from the book. His name was changed to distinguish him from John Hammond, but the role was drastically cut down.
He has the same personality as the character from the source material, but he’s in far fewer scenes. We don’t even see his death on-screen; we just see his severed arm flop onto Ellie to insinuate it.
7 TIE: Pulp Fiction (92%)
Tumblr media
Samuel L. Jackson’s longstanding working relationship with Quentin Tarantino began in 1994 with Pulp Fiction, a darkly comic tapestry of crime stories set in L.A. Jules Winnfield is the role that made Jackson a star and it’s arguably still his most iconic character.
RELATED: Pulp Fiction: Jules' 10 Most Articulate Quotes
From tasting a burger belonging to a guy he’s about to whack to complaining about having to clean pieces of skull out of his car after Vincent accidentally shoots a kid in the face, Jules is responsible for around 90% of the movie’s most memorable moments. Jackson walked away with an Oscar nomination and ludicrously regular work.
6 TIE: The Avengers (92%)
Tumblr media
After hanging around in the shadows in supporting roles at best and post-credits scenes at worst throughout the MCU’s Phase 1, Samuel L. Jackson’s take on the comic book icon Nick Fury finally got a chance to shine in Joss Whedon’s ensemble team-up The Avengers. Fury had spent years being called crazy by S.H.I.E.L.D.’s higher-ups for his proposed superhero team, but when an alien army came to New York, who did they call?
Funnily enough, Jackson had been asked years earlier for his permission to use his likeness as the rebooted Fury in the comics. When Fury finally made it to the big screen, casting the role was easy.
5 TIE: True Romance (92%)
Tumblr media
Although Quentin Tarantino wouldn’t direct Samuel L. Jackson in a movie until he helmed his sophomore effort Pulp Fiction, Jackson spoke his words a year earlier. True Romance was directed by Tony Scott, but the script was written by a young, struggling Tarantino. All that Scott changed from the original text was streamlining the nonlinear narrative.
While Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette play the lead roles and Gary Oldman plays the primary villain, Jackson plays a key supporting role as Big Don. His scene shows us just how ruthless Oldman’s villain is, establishing him as a formidable force in the criminal underworld.
4 Do the Right Thing (93%)
Tumblr media
Written and directed by Spike Lee in one of his earliest big-screen efforts, Do the Right Thing tells the episodic tale of racial tensions boiling to the surface on the hottest day of the year. Samuel L. Jackson plays a radio host named Mister Señor Love Daddy who broadcasts to the section of Brooklyn where the movie is set.
Do the Right Thing is a movie with a very strong cultural and geographical identity, which makes it feel very personal. The movie has been lauded by none other than Barack and Michelle Obama, who went to see it on their first date.
3 Incredibles 2 (94%)
Tumblr media
Pixar’s sequels rarely fail to live up to the original (Cars being the obvious exception – it started mediocre with the first one, became dreadful with the second one, and then returned to mediocrity with the third one). Every Toy Story movie has been a knockout and they’re four installments deep.
Incredibles 2 released last year into a crowded superhero movie market and managed to emerge as Pixar’s highest grossing movie ever. Writer-director Brad Bird responded to the cult success of Samuel L. Jackson’s supporting character Frozone by giving him a much meatier role in the sequel, without losing sight of the story’s focus.
2 Goodfellas (96%)
Tumblr media
Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas is one of the greatest gangster movies of all time – maybe the greatest. Ray Liotta stars as Henry Hill, a real-life mobster who rose through the ranks of organized crime before his drug addiction became his downfall and he ended up ratting out all of his friends and cutting a deal with the feds.
RELATED: 5 Reasons The Godfather Is The Best Mob Movie Ever Made (And 5 Why It's Goodfellas)
Samuel L. Jackson only has a minor role since the movie was made before he was famous, but given how iconic he’s gone on to become, there’s no mistaking him now. He’s killed off basically as soon as he’s introduced but it’s one of the movie’s most shocking and violent scenes, which makes it unforgettable.
1 The Incredibles (97%)
Tumblr media
Pixar’s take on the superhero genre, The Incredibles, is one of their finest films, due to its balance of comic book spectacle and grounded family situations. Samuel L. Jackson wasn’t the star of the movie, and his character Lucius Best – also known by his frosty superhero alter ego Frozone – isn’t a member of the titular family, but he is there when they need him.
As Bob Parr’s best friend, he has an integral role in the plot. More importantly, he’s responsible for a lot of the movie’s most memorable scenes (“Honey, where is my super suit?”). There’s also a fun nod to Jackson’s role in Die Hard with a Vengeance in a jewelry story.

Monthly Listening: June 2017
This month might be the first where the non-2017 albums list looks big as the 2017 albums one. And that sure did feel like the trend during the latter half of June. Older album are somehow starting to draw more interest for me, which has not ever been the case. I’ve been especially bad at listening to albums before the ‘90s, but the ‘80s has and continues to intrigue me.
This month’s highlights, from left to right:

im not sure if this counts as a request or not and you can absolutely delete it if it does but... if im not mistaken mod twogami has a fondness for broadway so... could they recommend any shows? i've been trying to get into more shows and such...!
It doesn’t count as a request! don’t worry, you’re fine! oh my gosh though I love Broadway SO MUCH I am SO HAPPY to make a list for you I LOVE talking about stuff I like!
one warning I should maybe give is that I tend to be more into modern musical theater, so the majority of shows I really like are from after like 2000 if that’s okay with you. I’d be happy to recommend some older stuff if you’d prefer, I’m just not as knowledgable about it. another warning: I am incapable of brevity. this list is way too long… i’m so fuckin sorry… i’m really really sorry.
comedy:
♡ the producers (2001). the show that really got me into musical theater. it also won more tony awards than any show, ever. about two broadway producers who try to create the worst musical ever, ergo hilarity ensues. maybe not the best pick if you’re uncomfortable with content that makes fun of nazis, but if it helps, the writer is jewish (and I’m jewish and don’t have a problem with it). there’s also some adorable gays, and a movie version that’s very faithful to the show, so that’s nice. you want the 2005 movie if you want songs (the 1968 movie isn’t a musical). also, if you like this, young frankenstein is a great show by the same creators with a similar sense of humor.
♡ the book of mormon (2010).two mormon missionaries go to uganda. absolutely hilarious. pretty crass though, and i’m sure problematic as hell (by the creators of south park, if that’s any indication), so be warned. but it’s just… such a fun time.
♡ a gentleman’s guide to love and murder (2014).a rare musical comedy that’s actually not that crass. about a man in edwardian england who learns he’s ninth in line to inherit an earldom, so he kills everyone in his way to the position. actually a very lighthearted comedy. bonus points for a love triangle that turns into a really cute poly triad.
♡ avenue q (2003).sesame street, but about issues faced by people in their mid-twenties: a kindergarten teacher tries to snag a boyfriend, a recent college grad tries to find his purpose, a gay republican struggles to come out of the closet, gary coleman is just kind of there. song titles include “the internet is for porn” and “everyone’s a little bit racist.” puppet sex. a good time.
♡ a funny thing happened on the way to the forum (1962).slapsticky, very clever, hilarious if you like roman history, funny even if you don’t. about a roman slave who wants to earn his freedom, his young master falling in love for the first time, pirates, soldiers, sex workers, a lot of stuff. the movie is very good. I’m also partial to the 1996 cast album because I love Nathan Lane.
drama:
♡ sweeney todd (1979).just… a masterpiece of a musical score tbh. about a barber who seeks revenge for his tortured past. people get baked into pies. if you haven’t noticed, i really like musicals that make light of murder (although i’m guessing you like funny media about murder too, since you came to a danganronpa blog to ask this?). funny, moving, dark, creepy, powerful. I’ve never actually seen the movie and don’t really recommend it from what I’ve heard, but a production of the show is on DVD with most of the original cast, and it’s definitely worth a watch. also, if you like this, i recommend p much anything stephen sondheim’s ever written. he’s a genius.
♡ spring awakening (2007).takes place in the late 19th century, but is very, very relevant to issues kids face today. covers stuff like the importance of sexual education, child abuse, the pressure placed on kids by school, and the confusion teenagers go through when discovering sexual desire. very heavy, but very beautiful (note: this is maybe the musical I know that is the most difficult to get a sense of the plot by just listening to the score, so I’d recommend maybe reading a plot summary or watching a bootleg or something. there was a cool production last year where a lot of the cast was deaf and it was bilingual in english and asl! idk if there’s a bootleg of that anywhere, but it was a good time). tw for rape, suicide, abortion, child abuse… yeah, it’s dark.
♡ next to normal (2009).about a family dealing with their mom’s mental illness, and covers stuff like how her life is affected by her illness, how fucked up the process of getting treatment is, and how mental illness affects her relationship with the people around her. I find it very realistic, very moving, and very relatable. of course tw for mental illness and suicide. i am dan goodman.
♡ natasha, pierre, and the great comet of 1812 (2012).just reopened on broadway! based on part of war and peace, so you’ll know the plot of war and peace and look really smart. about a woman who gets swept up in an affair while her husband is at war in 19th century russia. the plot isn’t really what’s interesting so much as the gorgeous musical score and really cool things they did with the staging / mixing the 19th century and the modern day.
stuff that’s a mix of the two genres:
♡ the frogs (2004).a comedy that gets more and more serious until it’s… not really a comedy anymore. dionysus and his slave go to the underworld to bring back george bernard shaw and make the world right again. shakespeare is there. hades is gay. was on broadway for all of like four months and is pretty damn obscure, but it’s SO GOOD, I promise.
♡ heathers: the musical (2014).another comedic musical about murder. I love comedies about murder. a girl befriends her high school’s popular clique and gets a sort of fucked up boyfriend. shit goes down. I feel like it does a very good job of representing what high school is really like (my high school experience, anyway), and is a good mix of funny and serious. heavy tw for suicide and mental illness (and briefly for eating disorders, but it’s just a couple of comments).
♡ matilda the musical (2010).based on the roald dahl book! about a little girl who is extremely intelligent, but is surrounded by neglectful parents and an abusive headmaster – so she fights back against them. what a genuinely fun, heartfelt time. great lyrics, super creative, and has a scene where someone eats a whole cake, which is always a plus and very relatable (note: im twogami, what were you expecting). tw for child abuse, but the musical is meant for kids, so it’s not very graphic.
♡ my fair lady (1957).thought maybe I should throw in some older stuff as well. early 1900s england, an upper class linguist asshole tries to turn a lower class flower seller into a “lady.” the movie is very, very good. is based on a very feminist play but was made into a slightly misogynistic romance for hollywood, so I’d recommend reading pygmalion if you’re unsatisfied with the ending (but it’s not like the movie doesn’t do its fair share of calling out higgins’s misogyny).
♡ 1776 (1969).also has a very good movie. about the founding fathers and the signing of the declaration of independence. maybe don’t watch this if you’re mad that hamilton is glorifying slave owners (note: I like hamilton, but I didn’t put it on this list because I’m kind of tired of it by now, and anyway I’m sure you know about it). a very good mix of funny and historically accurate.
anyway I hope you enjoy this list and can forgive me for… info dumping rlly heavily on u… love u, hope ur havin a good day, thanks for letting me talk about this. tell me if you end up checking out any of these shows and liking them! - Mod Twogami

The ten shows opening on Broadway in April include six plays and four musicals. Several are familiar titles presented in unfamiliar ways: Glenda Jackson as King Lear; an avant-garde, diverse Oklahoma; two much-anticipated movie adaptations — Tootsie and Beetlejuice. But the show that garnered the most votes in a Broadway Spring poll  is Hadestown, which marks the Broadway debut of Anaïs Mitchell, who created it first as a concept album by Anais Mitchell and took fire Off-Broadway. Another artist making his Broadway debut is downtown darling and MacArthur “Genius” Taylor Mac, who has written Gary, a startling comedy billed as a sequel to Shakespeare’s bloodiest tragedy.
Star power is lighting up the Great White Way: Broadway favorites like Nathan Lane, John Lithgow and Laurie Metcalf, screen stars Annette Bening and Adam Driver, British theater royalty like Glenda Jackson and Jonny Lee Miller. And let’s not forget the playwrights, directors and composers, some of whom are better known than any performer. Like Shakespeare.

But even in a month when so many shows crowd the calendar to open by the deadline for Tony Awards eligibility, there is exciting theater opening outside Broadway as well — some of it way outside. Ars Nova launches its new programming at Greenwich House Theater with a new devised work by the Mad Ones.  Ivo van Hove directs an opera at BAM. There is innovative immersive theater in a downtown park (for free!) and in a Chelsea brownstone.
Below is a selective list of Broadway, Off-Broadway, and other New York theater offerings opening in March, 2019, organized chronologically by opening date, with each title linked to a relevant website. Color key of theaters: Broadway: Red. Off Broadway: Black, Blue, or Purple. Off Off Broadway: Green. Theater festival: Orange. Puppetry: Brown. Immersive: Magenta.

These performances are free. (This is not an April Fool’s Day joke)

Former Everton defender Pat Van den Hauwe reveals he held a gun to a man’s head
& # 39; If I had pulled that trigger, I wouldn't be sitting here now & # 39 ;, says Pat Van den Hauwe. & # 39; He wouldn't be around either. & # 39;
& # 39; He & # 39; is the South African acquaintance who has avoided a debt and has ended up paying his life within a split second by a double English First Division champion and a fourfold FA Cup finalist.
To tell the story of the Belgian-born, London Van den Hauwe, a stylish but tenacious Defend the nickname & # 39; Psycho Pat & # 39 ;, you have to start on that sultry evening in Cape Town, to ask the question: how did he ever get so close to committing murder?
Pat Van den Hauwe revives the night that I nearly shot a man in Cape Town, But first to the beach bar in Camps Bay, more than 20 years ago.
But while he once put the blue shirt of Birmingham, Everton and Millwall or the whites of Tottenham in his shorts, now he was wearing a gun, he had become so paranoid amid cocaine indulgence and underworld figures. So what happened?
& # 39; I nearly shot someone & # 39 ;, says the 58-year-old, with his birth. Why?
& # 39; His arrogance, and because he continued to restrain me for the money I had lent him. I was drinking with friends and walked by. I shouted: "When are you going to pay me? It's months ago."
No chance. So I walked over to him and put the gun on his head and said, "Where's my money?"
& # 39; I had a hair puller. It doesn't need much pressure. I also had hollow point bullets. They blow your head away. If I had done that, I would still be in prison.
& # 39; They have split seconds … if some noise had gone off, or if it had gone for me, I would have pulled that trigger. It was a millisecond decision. It was life-changing.
& # 39; The next day I thought, "What kind of fuck did I do there?"
& # 39; Van den Hauwe had won the First & # 39;
& # 39; But what I did not do that evening, it has haunted me since. & # 39; Division and European Cup Winners & Cup with Everton in 1985 and two years later his goal in a 1-0 win over Norwich in May 1987 helped regain the title.
He raised the FA Cup with Spurs in 1991 and played for Wales, a handsome poster boy with a cockney charm.
But during his time on White Hart Lane I met two people who would steer his life naturally – Ossie Ardiles and the Mandy Smith model.
Van den Hauwe first deals with Ardiles, the Argentinian installed the Spurs manager in 1993.
It happened more than 20 years ago when I ended up in South Africa to escape from England
& # 39; I immediately knew something was wrong. He said to me: "You are not in my plans." Why? & # 39; Do you remember that match in Birmingham? & # 39;
Van den Hauwe imitates dropping his jaws. & # 39; I did it in a tackle when I played for Spurs ten years earlier.
& # 39; At the time, there was little conflict between England and Argentina. I stood over him and said a few words. But I was a kid, I didn't know what I was saying.
& # 39; He had remembered it. So that was that, from playing every week to doing nothing. He then blocked me from joining another First Division club.
& # 39; I felt like throwing him through his f ****** counter. I had a few years left at the top.
We return to Smith, the former wife of a Rolling Stone that I met in a wine bar after an introduction by Spurs teammate Paul Walsh
]
They married in 1993 with the photos splashed about Hello! magazine. But the relationship, he said, was dysfunctional and was controlled by Smith's mother, who lived with them. They divorced within two years.
& # 39; If I could do it all again, I would never come close. The biggest mistake I've ever made. It was a different life and I hated it.
& # 39; Like f ****** that! & # 39;
Sportsmail & # 39; s photographer starts to click away Van den Hauwe is animated. I can not stand it! Years ago I would have chased you f ******! & # 39;
Our man lowers his lens.
& # 39; It became too much, I couldn't handle it. Three times we were on the cover of Hello! – It was a joke. Her mother was all about the money.
Some people thrive on celebrities, not me. I even let one of the Krays ask me to visit him in prison! I refused. "
& # 39; Mick is a lovely guy, but if you cross him … he was so fond of, & # 39; Come then, if you want something? & # 39 ;. But I honestly had given up.
& I knew the end was and it was the end too early.I played in the Second Division and live at home with my parents.
& # 39; I called Mick and said: & # 39; I'm ready. & # 39; I was a gentleman and they paid my contract. & # 39;
If that had a sad ending – I moved to South Africa soon afterwards – then the start and the middle were much more fun. He had made his debut in Birmingham City in 1978, where Mick Harford was a teammate. He laughs before he recalls one story.
& # 39; One evening we were on the road with our partners to drive through the city when a car cut us to pieces. It really turned Mick off, and when that happened, he didn't stop him.
& # 39; We have been chasing them for about 20 minutes. Eventually they stopped – three of them. "Ah s ***!"
& # 39; But Mick jumped out, opened his shoe, got this big golf club and broke their engine. They quickly got it. "
If Van den Hauwe had tried to play the peacemaker on that occasion, he would soon be the troublemaker.
& # 39; That came at QPR when I was one of their players on the Howard Kendall (Everton boss) said: "That was the best I've seen you play, but I still rate two weeks' wages"
& # 39; I was furious until I found out went to an end of the season p *** up in Magaluf! & # 39;
I met a girl on the first day, she was beautiful. I haven't seen the boys for the week. She asked me to move to Alaska and work at her ranch.
& # 39; I would give it all up. It was only Howard who stopped me. "
& # 39; I was caught, right? & # 39; I ended up in the hospital with a blood disease. My ankle was swollen and the virus turned out to be pretty serious. That was difficult, missing games. & # 39;
But Van Den Hauwe did not miss the big one, such as Everton & # 39; s 3-1 win over Rapid Vienna in the cup winner's final or the semi-final win over Bayern
He was three times losing to Everton in the FA Cup final but won the medal of his winner with Spurs against Nottingham Forest, the last notorious for Paul Gascoigne & # 39; s injury
& # 39 I am often asked if the senior pro & # 39; s could have calmed him down. No chance. I turned around before we left the tunnel. & # 39;
& # 39; But we wanted it winning for him after he left. I loved Gazza, the best I played with. "
I have no idea! There was no Welsh blood.
We meet at the Blue Base, in an Everton
It was for Liverpool that Van den Hauwe returned from South Africa three years ago. community center where he works, spends time with dementia sufferers. He is also a hostess at Goodison Park.
I am happy, I feel alive, he says.
That last comment, we learn, is a reference to how low he felt before the end of his time in South Africa.
I was just divorced (for the third time). One day you are awake and you are dead the next day.
& # 39; I spent 20 years there and had to sell all my medals, work a lifetime. I would have been caught and lost money. I was drained.
& # 39; The thought of starting all over again was too much. But then you think: & # 39; I have something to give & # 39 ;.
& # 39; It was not easy. When I returned, I didn't think anyone would remember me. I was stiff again when I spoke for the fans.
& # 39; Now my confidence returns. I have a lot to be thankful for, I just had to realize that. & # 39;

Secret witness box off, repeating hold-ups delay neglected Krejcir instance
On the sixth floor of the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg, in a gangland murder case most have forgotten about, there’s a slow-burning standoff unfolding and the delays are costing taxpayers millions of rands.
Beyond the bevy of armed guards and metal detectors, four men including Czech convict and former underworld boss Radovan Krejcir, are on trial for a 2013 hit on Lebanese drug dealer Sam Issa aka ‘Black Sam’ or ‘Cripple Sam’. Issa was gunned down outside Bedford Centre early on a Saturday morning while driving his black Audi Q7.
Read: ‘The cripple, the loose-mouthed Serb and the drug deal gone wrong’ – Extract from Krejcir, the book
The trial has been running before Judge Winston Msimeki for exactly two years and has been postponed dozens of times, with more than 50 days of testimony so far.
Each court day, the accused are rushed to the courthouse in a cavalcade of armoured vehicles, blue lights flashing down Pritchard Street. At least 40 heavily armed Correctional Services officials and SA Police Service officers are deployed to courtroom 6E while it is in session, and journalists and members of the public are required to pass through an x-ray machine to gain access.
There have been numerous postponements as a result of Krejcir’s poor health, some due to various applications the accused brought and because of conflicts in lawyers’ diaries.
Now, one of the State’s key witnesses is digging in his heels and it seems, is refusing to return to the stand. The situation is resulting in continued postponements that are stalling the trial, leaving the accused and their lawyers frustrated.
Lucky Mokoena, a self-confessed hitman and robber, has been testifying for the prosecution against Krejcir and his co-accused. These include Siboniso Miya aka ‘Zuluboy’, Nkanyiso Mafunda and Simphiwe Memela, also known as ‘Baba ka Jesu’.
A fifth accused, Bulgarian Lyubomir ‘Boris’ Grigorov, has also turned State witness. Grigorov spent more than 30 days in the witness stand under cross-examination.
Another key player, who has gone by the pseudonym ‘Jacob Nare’, is also waiting in the wings to testify. He was controversially taken into the witness protection programme by forensic consultant Paul O’Sullivan and then dropped from it.
Mokoena has finished his evidence in chief and is now due to be cross-examined. It’s understood that he has been offered a deal in terms of Section 204 of the Criminal Procedure Act, which will give him indemnity from prosecution in this case in exchange for his testimony if the court deems fit. However, those involved in the matter say Mokoena is unhappy that he has lost an appeal on a separate house robbery case and a warrant has been issued for him in that matter. It appears as though he is seeking blanket indemnity from the NPA, however, the prosecuting authority has not confirmed this.
Party held to ‘celebrate’ hit
The NPA’s spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane says that Mokoena remains a State witness and he is expected to return to the witness stand yet again on Wednesday.
In his evidence-in-chief, Mokoena testified about how he was introduced to Krejcir by convicted drug dealer and businessman Glenn Agliotti. He explained how Krejcir requested Mokoena to rob Issa’s house and then kill the Lebanese man after stealing his firearms and jewellery. Grigorov had also previously testified about how the robbery had taken place two weeks before Issa was gunned down. Four men wearing balaclavas had forced their way into Issa’s house, covered his head with a hood, cable-tied his arms and legs and beat him. His attackers made off with jewellery, an AK-47 and other firearms.
Mokoena has also testified about how he was present at Krejcir’s Money Point shop in Bedfordview when he allegedly instructed the accused to shoot Issa and how the men responsible told him that the job had been done. He has also further implicated Agliotti, claiming that he was present when Krejcir gave the instruction to kill Issa at a party that was held to “celebrate” the hit.
Agliotti has strongly denied that he was in any way involved or that he introduced Mokoena to Krejcir. In an interview last year, Agliotti said he was at Money Point the Friday afternoon before Issa was killed.
“It was like a Friday afternoon, they were drinking vodka, I had a double espresso. I said goodbye to them and I left. It was so friendly like f****ng, kissing and cuddling. Very friendly, no hostility, nothing whatsoever. It was 4pm in the afternoon; they used to drink right through the night. I left and the next morning I hear the s**t on the news so I f****ng phone Krejcir and say jeez what happened to Sam? He said, ‘Can you f****ng believe it?’ I said ‘What the f**k happened and he said he didn’t know; he was going to get his guys to find out.”
Agliotti says he was interviewed by the Hawks about the murder.
ALSO READ: Former Gauteng Hawks head Sibiya denies all Krejcir corruption claims
“I was interviewed by the Hawks in the Sandton police station. The Hawks called me in; I was coming back from Swaziland. I got this call from a colonel in the Hawks and I said, sure, no problem. He said he wanted to interview me about Issa, Krejcir and Mokoena. I went there and asked what they wanted.
“He said: ‘Lucky Mokoena’. I said that Lucky Mokoena was a two-bit gangster so he’s trying to implicate me. He’s a hustler. He’s got like 60 cases against him – drugs, theft – all sorts of shit. You’ll always see him driving in a Ferrari with the best labels, but he scams. If you look at his cases they are either robbery or armed robbery or whatever.”
Mokoena’s allegations are to secure freedom
Krejcir’s lawyer previously said they believe Mokoena is making these allegations to secure his own freedom. The accused deny the charges against them and are expected to call several witnesses in their defence.
However, that could mean that this trial will drag on for several years still. Prosecutors are also waiting to finalise this trial before they get going on another case involving a plot to assassinate Paul O’Sullivan and ex-policeman Nkosana ‘Killer’ Ximba in 2014.
Parallel to this is a separate process involving Krejcir’s potential extradition to the Czech Republic.
Last year, the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court ruled that Krejcir could be extradited and now it is up to the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services to decide his fate.
Krejcir is currently serving a 35-year prison sentence after being convicted of attempted murder and kidnapping in 2015.
Ironically, this prolonged matter in courtroom 6E pales in comparison to the trial running in the courtroom just next door where Tigon accused Gary Porritt is facing more than 3 000 charges of fraud, racketeering and contraventions of the Income Tax Act, the Companies Act and the Stock Exchange Control Act. That case has been on the court roll since 2002 and is still rolling.
