Act 2 - Dread Stirs in the Sands
[Location: Venhara - Venhara Palace] [PoV: Neferhotep, Eleventh Queen of Venhara]
The Venharan Lucario before me bows once more. “Thank you my Queen for taking your precious time to listening to what I have to say, with your word I shall leave presence.”
I nod my head, keeping a small yet gracious smile on my lips. “You have my permission to leave, my subject.” I dismiss. Upon hearing this, he rises to his feet and turns and walks out of the throne room.
As he leaves the entrance, two of my sapphire guards close the giant pair of doors. With no one except them as witnesses, I let myself sigh as a tired frown returns to my face. I slump in my throne, rubbing my forehead.
Although I’ve often been tired of audiences, as of late I’ve actually grown to appreciate them due to the...distraction they provide. I’ve had a pit in my stomach for the past few weeks, a dread that has been eating me ever since that fateful day of what the Sand Striders have found in the Dunefields of Den.
“I wish you were here, mother.” I whisper to myself. “You would handle this situation far better than I.”
The doors before me open suddenly, making my head perk up. Normally there would be an announcement of who it is that’s having an audience with me, so if there is no declaration being made...
I feel a grin form on my face as Tetishuri strides into the throne room, her signature cool smile on her face - and said smile widens somewhat upon seeing me.
“Teti!” I shout happily, standing up from my throne. Throwing courtesy to the wind, I run up to her and pull her into a hug - yet keeping enough distance so that we don’t impale each other with our chest horns.
“I see that you’re feeling better, Nefi.” She chuckles, returning my hug. Her gaze looks at my eyes, her smirk widening. “I see that your servants have done a great job with your makeup, since those bags under your eyes are barely noticeable.” Her eyes twinkle. “Still staying up late playing that handheld~?”
I pout, giving her a playful shove. “It’s not my fault that the games are addicting!” I say indignantly.
That handheld is a small gaming console from overseas, said device having been gifted to Tetishuri by a small Lopuny, in which Tetishuri then gifted to me. I’ve had such fun playing with it ever since I figured how it worked, and it has been the best form of distraction to keep me dwelling on...recent events.
“You still have your royal duties.” She chuckle at me, giving me a playful shove back. “It would be unfortunate if the Queen of Venhara were to oversleep after staying late playing games.”
This is one of the things I love about Tetishuri, for she treats me like a friend instead of a queen when we’re out of the public eye. She has been one of my strongest pillars in keeping me sane.
“But I haven’t come here for pleasantries, sadly.” Tetishuri then says, her smile turning to a frown.
And all pleasant things have to end, it seems. Can’t help but be unsurprised, as much as I hate to say. With a heavy sigh I turn and walk back to the throne, sitting down on the plush silk cushion and resting my hands on the armrests.
“Guards!” I shout to the Sapphire Warriors standing by the throne doors. “I shall be holding no more audiences for the day.” I glance at Tetishuri, and another thought comes to my mind. “You are all dismissed.”
They nod their head, but I could notice some of their expressions of disappointment. It’s very clear that they wanted to listen to whatever it is that Teti has to say, but they obeyed nevertheless. As the throne doors close behind them, my gaze turns back to Tetishuri.
“What is it that you have to tell me, Teti?” I ask, tiredness filling my voice.
“Sand Striders Abasi and Massika have returned.” The leader of the Sapphire Warriors speaks, straight to the point as always. “They have found more tracks, this time severa morel pairs of them.”
The pit in my stomach grows bigger. “M-More?” I stutter, my eyes widening.
She nods her head grimly. “It seems that whatever caused those tracks after that storm, there is more than just one creature.”
I grab my head. “By the Queens...” I whisper.
“The Sand Striders followed the tracks to the end, however the tracks ended just as suddenly as the first.” She finishes.
I’m not sure if I should be feeling this worried or not, but after being informed by the Guardians of Twilight of what they dealt with recently...
...I feel that I really should be worried.
They fought what seems to be a Scizor whose origins are completely unknown, possessing a power whose likes has never been seen before. On the day of its death, a large storm appears in Venhara followed by the tracks of something completely unknown.
Am I...overreacting? Am I getting incredibly stressed for no reason?
It is...a coincidence, for such events to happen within the same day. Perhaps something else caused that storm, such as a rogue Thundurus or Tornadus.
...Yet that doesn’t quite explain the tracks, and the concept of a rogue Legendary isn’t really that much better...
“...Tetishuri?” I eventually ask after a lengthy silence.
During this period the other Lucario waited patiently, and upon me saying her name she nods her head. “Yes, Nefi?” She responds back.
“I’d...like to ask you a question.” I slowly continue, my voice apprehensive.
“Ask anything, I am here.” She responds again, giving me a comforting smile.
I wait for several more minutes, contemplating my choice of words.
“Am I...making the right choice?” I finally ask, my voice hesitant.
Tetishuri walks over to me and pulls me up from the throne and into a warm embrace, allowing me to rest my head on her shoulder. “You are making the best choice from the information that you know.” She answers into my ear. “You are worried for your kingdom.”
I feel myself relaxing. “I’m not overreacting?”
She pulls away, looking me dead in the eyes. “We both heard what the Guardians of Twilight told us. You are no overreacting. You are acting in response to a possible threat to the kingdom, as a Queen of Venhara should.”
Whatever doubt that clouded my mind vanishes completely after hearing those words. “Thanks, Teti.” I say softly to her, a smile of relief forming on my lips.
“Anything for my Queen.” She simply responds back with a mischievous smile.
I give her a playful shove. “Come on, you know I hate it when you call me that.” I whine. “I have to deal with it enough when we’re under the watchful eye of the public!”
Tetishuri merely laughs in response. “But I enjoy the reactions that it brings!”
I stick my tongue at her.
She blinks at me before crossing her arms. “Sometimes you make me wonder how old you truly are, seeing how often you behave like a pup.”
A blow a raspberry for further measure.
She raises an eyebrow in response. “Yes, I often wonder indeed...”
As a formulate a retort, Tetishuri speaks up again - cutting my train of thought from forming a brilliant response. “Before I forget, I do have one more bit of news - positive this time.”
"Well, that’s a welcome change.” I sigh.
Tetishuri nods. “I’ve received word from the Guardians of Twilight. There has been a slight delay, but the Night Watcher that’s coming to investigate will be arriving in two weeks. They’ve assured me that it’s one of their best for this environment.”
Now this caught me curiosity. “Best for this environment?”
She nods again. “Their skills are considered unparalleled in desert climates among the Guardians of Twilight. If there is a threat in our kingdom, this Night Watcher will surely find it.”
More relief fills me. “That’s...very assuring.”
“I agree, however I feel that some of the Sand Striders will probably have a bone to pick with this Night Watcher.” Tetishuri smirks.
I blink. “Bone to pick...?”
Her smirk grows. “An expression I picked up during my most recent visit to the Guardian of Twilight’s Headquarters.” With that she takes a step back, bowing her head. “As much as I’d like to continue this conversation, I have a few duties left for me to attend. I will see you again later today, Nefi.”
Without another word she turns and walks towards the giant doors.
A scowl forms on my lips. “You still didn’t tell me what that expression means!”
No response came from Tetishuri, who is currently opening the giant pair of doors with a push of her hand.
“Teti! What does it meaaaaan?!” I shout before running after her, my behavior surely being something that would bring great shame to the Venharan Queens before me.

@theorangelopunny
[Continued from here]
When the Lopunny said that she’ll try her best to look elegant in order to not embarrass me, I started laughing. But not just any laughter, but the kind that’s hard enough that hurts your chest. Truth be told I’m not quite sure on where it came from, but perhaps because the girl’s words caught me completely off-guard.
“My dear, there’s no need to worry!” I manage to say, trying my best to get myself under control. “Just be yourself, you won’t embarrass me.” After wrestling with myself I manage to turn the laughs into quiet chuckles. “It’s quite flattering that you wish to take to take a picture with me and you. Just do what you normally do, there’s no need to give me any special treatment~”
Without missing a beat I use one of my arms to scoop the Lopunny up, my great strength combined with her rather light weight making the action almost effortless. “If you wish to show this picture on a blog, then I will be sure to not disappoint.” Following directions I place my free hand on my hip, turning my head just slightly while giving my well-known smile. “I’m ready when you are~”

?? - The Day of Giving
December 25th.
This particular day is celebrated by many, although it is known by numerous names.
In Separatia, it is known as the ‘Day of Giving’.
The day where families and friends come together, to exchange gifts in order to show their appreciation. A time of warmth and love, where cheer is spread upon to all of the hearts within Separatia.
“Happy Giving Day Ren’Gul! This is from me to you!”
“You...got me a gift?”
“Of course! Sure we’re still getting used to each other, but I thought that since we’re going to be working with each other for a long time...perhaps I should give you something! Because...why not?”
“I’m not sure if I should accept this, I don’t have a gift for you in exchange...”
“Oh come on, just take it already. I much prefer giving out gifts than receiving them anyways!”
“If you insist...”
...
“Is this a...?”
“Yep! It’s one of those audiobooks that you listen to! I know that you’re a big fan of this series and after looking through your collection-”
“Wait, you broke into my room?!”
“-Not that it matters, but yeah! I saw that you were missing this one so I went out and got it for you!”
“...”
“You alright Ren’Gul?”
“Delilah...”
“Yessssss?”
“Never break into my room again.”
“...Oh.”
“But besides that, thank you. I greatly appreciate your gift.”
“Yes! Woo!”
“...”
“If you wish for me to leave, I will do as you wish Asmund. However since this land celebrates this ‘Day of Giving’, I thought to give you a gift as a way to participate in it. You do not have to accept it, but I thought that perhaps-”
“Why...do...you...keep...insisting...”
“...Excuse me?”
“Have I not made it clear that I care nothing about you, Minato? Your attempts at ‘befriending’ me will continue to go nowhere, I couldn’t give a flat fuck for anyone...and that...includes...you.”
“I s-see, in that case...I will just leave this here...”
“...”
"My greatest apologies, I won’t bother you again.”
...
...
“That freak finally got the message, it was only going to get to the point where I would have to beat it into him...”
...
“Of course he left the box here... He expects me to open it, hell...fucking...no.”
...
“God damnit... Fuck it, fine. I’ll check his fucking gift.”
...
“What the fuck is inside here? Is that a-”
...
“...God...fucking...damnit. Why won’t he just leave me be like I fucking want?!”
...
“...Fuck...”
“Oh Vency~”
“AHHHHH!"
“Oh come now, no need to scream like that! It’s only lil’ ol’ me!”
“THAT’S THE ENTIRE POINT! GET AWAY FROM ME ARTEMISIA!”
“Aww, careful Vency, you might hurt my feelings. It would be a very rude and ungrateful thing to do, especially since I have a gift for you.”
“...A gift?”
“Mmhmm~”
“...And it’s not...a trap is it? To get me close to you so you can imprison me again?”
“My hugs aren’t meant to ‘imprison’ you, Vency. But yes, it’s not a...trap.”
“...”
“Sigh Please come here, Valence. Just this once I promise I will not touch a single hair on your head.”
“Okay then... But you better keep your word!”
“Yes I promise, now come here! Open it!”
...
...
“Is this all...candy?”
“Mmhmm! And not just any kind, but candy canes shipped directly from that one store that you love so much. I made sure to give you a large amount so that you won’t run out anytime soon~”
“I...”
“Hmm? Valence, is something wrong?”
“Okay, now I feel bad.”
“Oh? That’s perfectly fi- OH!”
“Okay, first of all...this is the ONLY time I will hug you with no problem. Just don’t start thinking that I will be doing this again in the future!”
“Alright Vency~”
“HEY HEY HEY! DIDN’T YOU JUST PROMISE NOT TO TOUCH ME?!”
“Oh come now, I’ve promised not to touch a single hair on your HEAD. Not to mention that I’ve already given you my gift, so I see no reason as to why I shouldn’t hug you~”
“LET GO OF ME! HELP! I CAN’T BREATH!”
“Hush, stop being dwamatic my widdle Vency~”
“Greetings, your majesty.”
“Hmm? Oh! Teti, come now. You know that there’s no need to be so formal when we’re not in the public’s eye, you’re a very good friend of mine after all.”
“Hee, force of habit Nefi. It’s ingrained into me to show respect to the Queen of Venhara after all~”
“Yes yes, but we’re in private. Nevertheless, what brought you here? Is it something important?”
“Why yes, yes it is important~”
“...And what is it? There’s no need to be so vague, Teti.”
“But I enjoy riling up your interest, Nefi~”
“Do NOT think I will not command you to tell me, but for the goddess’ sake don’t force me too because I’m currently not in the mood to give out orders.”
“HA! Fine fine, Nefi. I’ll tell you.”
...
“What...did you just pull out from behind you?”
“Firstly before I tell you, let me explain the reason why I have it. I thought that I’d partake in a holiday that’s celebrated in Separatia. It’s called the Day of Giving, so to have fun with the festivities I have a gift to give to you~”
“Oh my- Wait, is that...one of those portable electronic devices? The one where you play games on?”
“Why yes it is~ A particular Lopunny gave it to me, but since I don’t find any interest 'gaming’ AND that you’ve been wanting one for a while...I thought that I’d give it to you.”
...
“AHHH! THANK YOU SO MUCH TETI I LOVE IT!”
“Grk Careful Nefi, if you squeeze any harder we might accidentally impale each other with our chest spikes.”
“Yes yes, sorry. But YES! I’ve been wanting one of these for a while but could never manage to getting one for myself. Teti, I could kiss you right now.”
“Oh my, imagine the scandal if someone were to hear this right~”
“Quiet. Now...I must see how I turn this thing on...”
“It’s actually quite adorable seeing you like this. First you were the Queen of Venhara, now you’re an energetic pup~”
“Ohh, that’s how you turn it on! And look at the screens, look how they light up! Is this how I start a game?”
“I’m not too sure, Nefi. But I’ll leave you be to figure it out, I’ll take over whatever remaining duties you have so you can have all the personal time you need.”
“Yes! Christmas sweaters! Thanks Jubei”
“Oh my, it even goes well with my luscious coat~”
“I’m glad that you both are enjoying your gift, I’ve decided to go with sweaters since they both go well with your coats...and that it would be nice to have something warm to wear during the winter.”
“Yeah, and even though I’ve got Fire-type genes it can get rather chilly. So yeah, thanks a ton Jubei!”
“Indeed, as much as my black coat is beautiful...it doesn’t do too well when it comes to fending off the chilling air. So I greatly appreciate your gift as well.”
“Hey Venya~”
“Groan What, Kendra?”
“Mine looks much better than yours.”
“Did you just-”
“Can you two NOT do this?”
“Ooooh, I wish to geeve my geeft next~ Tis one to Chevalier~”
“M-Me?”
“Why of course! Eet ees te Day of Geeving after all! Right, Alicia?”
“Indeed! Everyone receives a gift, and zat includes you, Chevalier.”

Interlude - Tension is in the Air
[PoV: Kendra]
Well holy shit.
I knew that the battle between Tetishuri and Venya was causing a stir, but I did NOT expect for there to be this many people here.
The walls of the hall are now lined with Pokemon, all of them talking excitedly as they wait for the time when the match will begin. Off to the corner I see the two ‘overseers’ of the Sparring Hall, a pair of Mime siblings.
I never talk with them too much besides getting my weapon ‘bluntified’ by their barrier powers, but I know that their names are Richard and Maria.
They seem to be talking to one another, definitely not expecting the sudden crowd.
Moving my attention away from them, I spot Jubei standing amongst the crowd. With a grin I wave over to her before marching to her location. “Yo Jubei, how’s it going?” I shout over the sound of the crowd.
She gives me a look, the look of a ‘mon who’s tired of some shit that’s happening. “As well as you can expect.” She sighs back, her voice difficult to hear due to the noise.
I frown at this. “Hey, don’t be that way.” I nudge her with an elbow. “You tried your best, but sometimes things just happen in the end.” I crack a grin again. “But hey, no worries. You and I will be here to pick up the pieces!”
She gives me a glare.
“Okay okay, shouldn’t have said that.” I admit. “But still, what’s done is done.”
The Gothitelle rubs her temple. “Indeed, although it does not mean that I’m not dreadin-”
Her voice gets drowned out by the sound of the crowd as it increases due excitement, by whipping my eyes around I see Tetishuri stepping out into the open. On her face is smirk as plain as day, although I know she’s saying something due to her lips moving...but the exact words were lost to me.
God damn I didn’t expect this many people, hell...I didn’t realize we had this many members in the GoT to begin with.
The noise increases yet further when Venya steps out as well, although mix into the cheering are several distinct jeers. In response the Mienshao merely sticks up her nose, treating them as if they’re below her.
Heh, that’s Venya for ya.
The noise quiets down when the pair of Mimes step into the center of the hall, presumably because they’ll be explaining the rules.
“This is a Sparring Hall, not an arena...” I hear Richard mumble to himself, the Mime rubbing his face with annoyance.
“Oh hush, this is going to be awesome!” Maria says excitedly before turning to the two. “Now, since we have a large audience I will be telling everyone the rules of the spar. Will that be fine with you both?”
Seeing Venya and Tetishuri nod, Maria then turns to the crowd with a twirl on her heels. “Alright people! Here are the rules of the fight!” She shouts enthusiastically. “We will be going with a more traditional battle! Both sides will be only using their weapons, no abilities or powers! The battle will continue until either one of the participants taps out or is knocked unconscious.” The energetic Mime flashes the two a grin. “That fine with you both?”
“That works for me.” Teti chuckles.
“No matter what rules that will be placed, I will succeed regardless.” Venya says confidently, brushing her hair.
At this the crowd cries out, loud ‘ooos’ and ‘oh snaps’ being heard at the comment.
“Well those are fighting words!” Maria exclaims before turning to the Lucario. “What do you have to say in re-”
“Can we just get this over already?” Richard interrupts her, giving her an annoyed glare. “This place needs to be freed up again so people can use it, so let’s just start this.”
Maria crosses her arms. “Fine fine.” She pouts. “I’m just having fun.”
The Male Mime rolls his eyes before turning to the two. “Both of you draw the weapons you’ve brought.” He orders them.
In response Venya whips out her fans and opens them, their blades sliding out in a blink of an eye. Tetishuri however slowly pulls out her two Khopesh’s, the crescent black weapons glistening.
Richard opens his palms before channeling his energy towards the weapons, after a few brief seconds the blades become shrouded in a bright pink aura, signifying that the barrier has successfully surrounded them so that they won’t cut.
But that won’t mean that they won’t hurt, since if they hit you hard enough they’ll definitely leave some nasty bruises.
“It’s done.” Richard nods, looking satisfied with his handy work. “Now we can get on wi-”
"PREPARE YOURSELVES!” Maria shouts over him, which she receives a displeased look for her efforts. “On the count of three, this battle will begin!”
Venya and Tetishuri meet each other’s gazes, the glare of the Mienshao connecting to the smug eyes of the Lucario.
"ONE!” Maria starts, the two Mimes backing towards the crowd in order to avoid being in the field.
“TWO!” The two fighters tense, taking their battle stances as they prepare themselves for the battle that will soon start.
Yet the ‘three’ doesn’t come, when I look over in confusion I see the female Mime purposefully waiting it out in order to extend the tension.
“Oh for Arceus’ sake...” Richard growls before shoving Maria out of the way. “BEGIN!”
Both Venya and Teti glance over at him, looking caught off-guard.
It took him a moment before he realized why they’re just standing there, in which he facepalms.
“Fucking-” He stops himself, with a loud sigh he continues. “Fine... THREE!”
And with that, the battle began.

Let's see... I can't choose just one so... For Venya, outside of speaking with Ash, is there any situation at all where she would set her ego aside on her own? For both Nightshade and Jubei, how well do they handle outrage or anger? And how do they bring themselves back from it? And for Tetishuri, how does she handle herself in a state of fear, and what would bring her such an emotion?
(Hooo boy, here we go. (Since I plan to link this post to the RP blog later, I’m not gonna add a readmore due to there being difficulties when I delete the original. So I’ll be tagging this with ‘long post’ to help with those who want to keep their dashes clean!)
For Venya, she’ll ‘tone down’ her ego around those she knows very well personally as well as like them. However due to how she behaves it can be difficult for her to actually get to that level, since her ego acts as a sort of barrier in terms of interacting with others. Delilah is one of the few people that she has gotten to know personally as well as enjoy her company to the point where she completely abandons her pride in order to interact with her. So her liking someone is definitely a start, but it just needs to be constant interactions and visits for her to eventually ‘lower her guard’ and act bearable around the person in question.
Now for anger…
For Jezebel, she constantly tries to keep a calm and ‘professional’ image so, so even when extremely angry she tries to control her tone and prevent herself from acting rashly. The clearest way to see if she’s angry is in her eyes, since a glare is you need to see if she’s mad or not. But when pushed too far, her control on her tone would break and she’d make it very clear that you messed up through a loud and brutal beratement. At this point she’d have to basically verbally tear the person apart before she eventually calms herself, however she does recover faster if there are onlookers that she’s noticed.
Jubei is also a very calm individual like Nightshade, however instead of acting ‘professional’ she instead has a more ‘dignified’ behavior. Now unlike Jezebel who continuously tries to remain calm, Jubei won’t hesitate to make her discontent known if you mess up with her. She’ll start with scolding/lecturing you, but pushing too far would actually have her demand that you leave immediately. If her point is made clear, Jubei would quickly become ‘calm’ again (if not a bit annoyed at you). However if you’ve angered her enough that she wants you to leave her sight, then the only way she’ll calm down is if either you or she leaves.
And finally Tetishuri!
Now although Tetishuri shares the same behavior of keeping herself calm and level-headed like Jubei and Jezebel, hers is definitely more extreme to the point where she essentially keeps a ‘mask’ over herself. It’s extremely rare for others to see her express certain emotions (on certain levels too), fear being one of them.
When fearful, Tetishuri puts more effort into suppressing herself. Even in terrifying situations she’d keep a level head, doing her best to direct others if need be. However there does get to a point where if she she’s that terrified, cracks would form on her ‘mask’ and people would hear her voice cracking But in order to get to that point, it would require a life-or-death situation of those she cares deeply for and the chances of survival is very low.

Interlude - The Answer
[PoV: Pahaliah]
I began to explain the reason on why I came to Tetishuri’s chambers, during which she started the process of dressing herself. However each article of clothing she put on ever so slowly, doing so a knowing smirk on her features.
Despite my infuriating stammering because of her obvious flirting, I managed to finally finish my explanation.
“So you’re asking me to drop the challenge?” She repeats, her smile unfaltering as always. At this point the Lucario finishes putting on her top, one of the last remaining pieces of her attire.
“Aye.” I nod simply, averting my gaze slightly in order to conceal the guilty look in my eyes for looking at her.
The Lucario hums to herself as she picks up a golden comb, the unique designs showing that it’s Venhara of origin.
“I admit, I highlone am not responsible f'r making this request.” I continue. “I cameth hither to asketh thee of this is because of Jubei, f'r the lady fears the aftermath of this dare.”
Her gaze never leaves the mirror as she continues to straighten her hair. “Is that so?”
“Forsooth, which is wherefore I beg thee to reconsider.” I press, now looking at her again. “’S the Face of Venhara, peradventure would ‘t be irresponsible to square Venya?” Realizing that the wording may come off as accusing, I quickly continue. “I cullionly nay offense of course, but I worry yond others may bethink of this being petty f'r thee to continueth through.”
Satisfied with how straight her hair is, the Lucario begins the process of creating small individual braids in her hair before attaching a golden end-piece to each braid. “It is very considerate of you to come to me on this, Pahaliah.” She tells me, her voice showing no sign of her taking my words in a wrong way. “In fact, I admire you for confronting me on the matter.”
While still braiding, she turns her head slightly so that she can look at me better. “I can understand why Jubei wouldn’t wish for this to go through, since she’s looking out for her friend.” Her smile grows somewhat. “And for you to do this for her as well, you truly are a considerate individual.”
She turns back to the dressing table, her gaze fixated on the mirror. “But I don’t think of this as being petty, nor would my people. Venya DID insult me and issue a challenge, in which I accepted under her terms.” Tetishuri lets out a snort of amusement. “What becomes of her will be her fault alone, and even if I can understand Jubei’s worries...she will have to let Venya suffer the aftermath.”
Finishing the last braid, the Lucario then proceeds to apply the last of her jewelry before standing up. Giving herself a once-over, she then turns to me with a sad smile on her face. “So even if I admire your efforts, I must decline. This challenge has been set and I fully intend to carry it through.” She turns back to the mirror, and begins to apply the blue eyeliner to her face. “And let me entertain the thought of that I declined, how would that make me look?
I feel a frown form on my beak at her answer, but I didn’t blame her for I fully understood.
“The fight begins in only a few hours, so if I were to decline in the last minute...” She lets out a chuckle. “It would make me seem very cowardly, would it not? As a representative of Venhara, it is my duty to not only represent its beauty...but also its strength. It would be an insult to my kingdom and my people if I were to back out at the last minute.”
“I understandeth perfectly, Tetishuri.” I sigh.
Now completely presentable, she gives herself a final nod before turning back to me once more. “Please Pahaliah, call me Teti.” She says warmly, but said smile didn’t last long. “Again, I am sorry. But in the end, this befalls upon Venya.”
I nod my head. “Forsooth, but I did see nay harm in at least trying to convince thee.” I shrug my shoulders. “I personally already kneweth the answer, but yond didn't stand ho me from trying.”
“An admirable trait.” She grins. “You truly are a member of the Holy Templar.”
I feel my blush return again. “W-Well-” I scratch the back of my head awkwardly, but much to my dismay I couldn’t piece together a response.
Of course the Lucario looks very amused at this. “You are very adorable when you’re all flustered.” She snickers.
That didn’t help my situation at all.
“Nevertheless, as much as I enjoy teasing you...I must continue to get ready.” She says, her smile becoming more relaxed. “So as much as I appreciate your company, I need to prepare.”
I nod hastily. “A-Aye, I shall leave thee at once!” I give a quick bow of my head. “’T would beest a pleasure to speaketh to thee again, Teti. But f'r anon, I shall see thee in the Sparring Hall.”
With that I turn and make my way out of her chambers as quickly as possible, still feeling very awkward. But just as I make it to the door, I hear her call out to me.
“Hold on Pahaliah, I have a question to ask you before you go!” She laughs.
I feel myself freeze, with an awkward laugh of my own I look back at her. “What is't yond thee wish to asketh of me?”
She’s currently leaning against her dressing table, a playful smile on her face. “What is the stance of the Holy Templar on lovemaking?”
“W-What?” I feel my brain halt. “Couldst thee care to r-repeat what thee hath s-said?”
She rolls her eyes, her smile never wavering. “Lovemaking. I am curious if the Holy Templar views it as something sinful.”
I quickly shake my head. “Nay! ‘T is a natural thing in the eyes of Lord Arceus, we would nev'r ponder ‘t to beest sinful!” Now I do have a question of my own to ask, but I’m almost too afraid to voice it. “But if 't be true I may, wherefore is't yond thee asketh me this question?”
Her smile widens ever so slightly, the playfulness shifting to something...sultry. “It is indeed a natural thing. Us Venharans view it as something to not be alienated, but instead embraced.” She lets out a quiet laugh. “If I may also say, even though I have a preferences for males...” Her gaze matches mine, her eyes twinkling. “...I am always open for experiencing the joys of my side of the spectrum~”
...
At that moment I feel my jaw drop, the only sound coming out is a confused squawk.
“I’ll just leave the offer open for now.” She continues to laugh. “But to just let you know, I’m only staying here for a few more days before I must depart back to my homeland.” She crosses her legs. “But if you’re open to the idea, perhaps you could visit me tomorrow at ten in the evening?”
The completely flabbergasted expression on my face seems to be the next most funniest thing to her, seeing how she’s struggling to not burst out laughing.
“It’s perfectly fine if you decline, I’ll understand.” She covers her mouth with a hand, trying her best to control herself. “But the offer is open nonetheless, so take your time and think over it. If you’ve made your decision to accept, then visit me at ten tomorrow at nightfall.” She removes her hand from her mouth once she’s fully gotten control over herself, her smile now much kinder. “But if you decide not to, then you don’t need to show. I won’t be offended, it’s your choice alone.”
With that she stops leaning against the dressing table and proceeds to make her way to her closet. “But until then, see you later Pahaliah~”
With my brain working enough to at least do simple actions, I manage to nod dumbly before leaving her chambers. Even when the door closed behind me I could only stand frozen outside her chambers, still trying my best to process what happened exactly.
...
When I stepped into her room, I had many ideas of how that would’ve ended.
But of all the possibilities I thought of, I NEVER anticipated it would’ve turned out like this.

Interlude - The Battle
[PoV: Venya]
When the countdown finished, I sprang into action.
Keeping my form to the ground I dash to the Lucario, upon closing the distance I grin before slashing upwards with my bladed fans.
However Tetishuri merely waited for me, the moment I struck she brings up one of her blades to deflect the attack. With a smirk of her own she immediately twists her body before slashing at me with her other weapon, however I’m already circling her before it could land.
Speed is one of my greatest traits in combat. As a Mienshao I am very nimble, so of course I take full advantage of it~ A lady like me is well aware of her strengths, so I will utilize them effectively to bring people down.
People like that bitch.
Tetishuri didn’t even move as I once again slash at her, but this time at her side. With the speed I’m moving at, no one would be able to turn fast enough to face me.
But to my immense surprise the Lucario didn’t even turn, without looking she brings one of her weapons behind her to catch my attack. The moment she felt the impact she twists her form to face me before pushing forward.
The sudden action made me lose my balance, but I quickly gain my footing by planting both my feet on the ground and proceed to use my previous momentum from running around to slide across the floor.
Yet Tetishuri switches gears, with her smirk still fixated on her face she darts after me. With a speed I never anticipated she slashes at me with both of her weapons in a scissor motion, low enough to the point where I can’t duck under them.
With a barely restrained yelp I bring both of my fans up, my weapons blocking the slash. But the second they make contact Tetishuri pulls away before slicing at me again, but at different angles.
The battle was only going on for not even a minute and things are already looking unfavorable, seeing that I’m now on the defense. The Face of Venhara’s frame is a blur of motion, her attacks striking at me with such speed and precision that I would’ve never expected from a Lucario.
Thankfully for my fans, they’re made of the same strong fabric of Jubei’s umbrella. If they would’ve been any other material, they surely would have been damaged at this point due to the relentless blows they’re receiving.
With a growl I deflect another set of Teti’s blows before taking a risk, the second her weapons pull away I quickly close the distance.
I see her eyes widen with surprise as I turning my body, lashing out with quick sidekick towards her stomach.
Tetishuri turns her own body to the side, the action causing my attempted strike to just barely miss her by inches. But I don’t let myself become vulnerable in this position, quickly pulling back my leg I kick off the ground with my other foot to leap into the air.
As I anticipated, the Lucario tried to strike at me with one of her blades. But by gaining air her weapons merely passed over the spot where I once stood. Yet she didn’t waste time however since she quickly shot after me, her eye focused on my form.
The second I touch ground I kick off again, but this time launching myself straight at her. Outstretching my arms I use them to spin my body, causing my twirling movements to turn me into whirlwind of razors.
With my open arms the Lucario had no choice but to dive to the side, bringing her blades up to absorb the blows of the fans from my rotating form. The second she hit the ground she broke her fall into a roll, eventually once she gained enough distance she presses her hands on the ground mid-roll to launch herself back to her feet.
All of this took place in less than ten seconds.
I cease my spinning when my own feet touch the ground. Turning my focus back to Tetishuri I see that she’s already standing straight, looking no worse for wear. In fact, the same smirk that she had on earlier hasn’t budged whatsoever.
I feel my eyes narrow at how smug she looks, the sheer amount of confidence she has. It almost seems like she sees me as no threat at all!
“Is that the best you got?” She asks me, her tone almost mocking. “I hope not, for I haven’t even gotten started yet~”
No, don’t let her get under your skin. If I let myself get riled up I’ll end up making a mistake, one that might cost me dearly.
“You think I’m even trying?” I shoot back, straightening my body as I look at her with grin brimming with pride. “Please, with someone like you I’m not even trying. You’re not worth the effort~”
She raises an eyebrow at me. “Not worth the effort?” She repeats, her eyes narrowing ever so slightly. “Oh Venya, you do realize who you’re dealing with?”
“I know very well on who I’m dealing with.” I chuckle, my own smile shifting into a smirk as my voice takes on a darker tone. “I’m dealing with a bitch who doesn’t know her place.”
The Lucario stands in silence, her lack of a response making me swell with satisfaction. But ever so slightly her smirk widens, baring her teeth with an almost vicious smile.
“My dear...” She hisses. “You have just made the most gravest mistake you could ever make.” Her grip tightens on her weapons. “You have insulted the Face of Venhara with that offensive word not once, but twice.” A deep growl rumbles in her throat. “Now...I am going to make you realize that you do not call someone a bitch just because they’re better than you.”
Even though her words should’ve made me mad, but her tone and the look on her face...it’s making me realize that perhaps...just perhaps...
...I’ve gone too far.
Without warning she leaps at me, her blades slashing towards my direction faster than before. I quickly deflect the strikes, but they come at me again and again.
Once more I’m forced on the defensive, but with the constant speedy yet powerful strikes Tetishuri is attacking me with I’m left no choice but to give ground. With every slash she strikes me with I take a step back in order to keep my balance, but with the sheer number of hits I’m forced to deflect it’s turning into a constant backpedal for me to not get knocked off my feet.
I can’t keep up like this, my body is built for speed...not strength. Eventually she’s going to make me stumble, then after that I’ll start start receiving direct blow after blow from her
I need to push back.
Taking in a sharp breath through my teeth I deflect another one of her hammering blows before jumping forward for a second time. Due to her confidence in having the upper-hand, she didn’t anticipate me choosing this action. Thinking quickly I bring one of my blades and slash at her, aiming for her thigh.
With me being so close to her she had no chance to deflect my attack, yet despite her efforts to avoid me...my blow struck true. She lets out a low hiss of pain from the attack, my fan hitting her with enough force to leave a nasty bruise later.
But I don’t stop there, with a confident smile I turn my form and use the energy of my movements to strike at her again, landing another clear blow on her other thigh.
I’ve landed two blows on her while she hasn’t even touched a single hair on me, already things are starting to look very-
I feel a powerful strike hit me in the side of the head, shattering my thoughts and sending me stumbling backwards.
Trying my best to recollect myself I see Tetishuri dashing right for me, her eyes burning with fury. By piecing things together I realize that by staying close to her it allowed her to knee me right in the side of the head, thus not only giving her breathing room but also putting me into a daze.
Doing my best to clear my head from the jumbled mess that it is right now I throw myself to the side, causing her to run right past me all the while just barely avoiding her outstretched blades.
With a haphazard roll I stumble back to my feet, still feeling dizzy from the blow. Tetishuri changed her direction and began to charge at me once more, fully intending to close the distance between us.
As the clarity of my mind returns, I feel a plan piece together.
While she’s charging I’ll do what she won’t least expect, which is leap straight into the air. By doing this at the precise moment it’ll put me right above her, and using the temporary advantage of height I can twist my body and cause my blades to strike her on the back of the head...delivering a blow that will at least leave her disoriented like what she did to me. After this I can then strike her from behind, perhaps ending the battle right then and there.
So I ready my legs, waiting for her to close the distance. I count down the seconds, keeping careful note of when is the right moment to jump.
Just as she reaches it, I see Tetishuri pulls her arms back...
...and then she throws her weapons at me.
What?!
The thrown weapons immediately force me to abandon my plan, gritting my teeth together I use my fans to slap the two blades aside.
But the moment I pull them away, I see a black fist flying right at my face.
My vision fills completely with stars as it impacts my forehead, snapping my head back as I’m launched backwards. With the combination of her strength and the momentum of her body, the blow not only hit me...but hit me hard.
I land on the ground violently, my grip quickly loosening on my weapons and sending them clattering away.
I can barely see, barely think. The sheer amount of pain my head is feeling...it’s almost too much.
Despite my hazy vision, I see a shadow engulf me as a black shape stands over me. Despite finding great difficulty in focusing, I know very well of what that shape belongs to.
And with this knowledge I feel fear build in my chest.
Something blunt presses against my neck, what I can only assume is the barrier-surrounded weapon of the Lucario.
“Now, Venya.” She says to me, her voice no longer sounding as dark as it did earlier.. “I am going to ask you this question only once.”
I look up at her silently with unfocused eyes, unable to clearly see her expression.
“Do...you...yield?” She asks tensely.
...
Realization hits me again, but this time...much harder than Tetishuri’s punch.
I’ve lost.
It all happened so fast...
The battle didn’t even last that long, maybe two minutes at most.
...
And yet all it took was for her to throw her weapons at me to catch me off-guard before hitting me straight in the face with a punch.
...
...
With my pride shattered, I clench my eyes shut. “Yes.” I whisper. “I yield.”

Scarlett @ Tetishuri: Scarlett's ears perked up in interest as she noticed the tall Lucario ahead of her. Very tall, indeed -- over two feet higher in height than her. She hoped that, from up there, she'd be able to hear her as she spoke: "Excuse me, ma'am, but I couldn't help but notice the outfit you're wearing. I'm sure you must get it a lot, but it's very nice. It looks a bit like something you would see in a desert. Is that the sort of place you're from? What is your home like?"
[PoV: Unity]
I couldn’t help but smile when my eyes land upon the ‘Ms.’ Mime, her appearance is actually quite adorable compared to others of her species I’ve seen in the past.
“I do indeed get many frequent comments on my outfit.” I laugh. “But it doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate each and every one of them~” I lean over slightly, my smile shifting to something more playful. “However I do have to say I quite adore your own outfit, it makes you look incredibly cute.” Unable to contain myself I ever so gently brush my fingers against one of her ears. “Not to mention your ears, it makes me almost jealous~”
It didn’t take long for me to realize what exactly I’m doing, in which I quickly retract my hand in straighten myself. “I do apologize, it appears that I’ve lost control of myself.” I chuckle, my smile never wavering. “But to answer your question, my home kingdom is in fact located in a vast desert.” I place one hand just over my chest-spike and the other on the sapphire-hilt of one of my weapons. “It is the kingdom of Venhara.”
“I could go on for a long while on Venhara, but I’m afraid it would take a good deal of your time.” I grin. “So I’ll try to keep things brief, since I know you have better things to do than to listen to someone talk your ear off about their homeland.”
“Venhara is quite a kingdom, even though I’m incredibly biased I would like to say that there’s no other place that compares to it.” With my fingers I pick up my necklace, feeling the smooth surface of the expertly cut sapphire. “It’s a place of acceptance, where all are treated equal in both sex and species. That’s our greatest pride as a kingdom, for it’s something that we fought tooth and nail for our people to adopt such ideals.”
“In terms of technology, we’ve been adapting incredibly quickly. Venhara is very wealthy due to our abundance of sapphires and gold, as you can see from what I’m wearing.” I pat the hilts of my weapons for emphasis. “Through trade and alliances we’ve been slowly ‘updating’ ourselves, although recently we’ve been mass-renovating our cities to contain solar-panel roofs.” I feel my excitement sky-rocket, which becomes more apparent due to my increase in enthusiasm in my voice. “It was an incredibly expensive decision, but we all agree that it was a very good one. Now our cities look more stunning than ever, our granite buildings along with the contrasting dark solar-panels give them a splendid appearance. Since the Venharan Desert sun is constantly shining unhindered, our city has been generating constant clean energy!” My grin widens. “We’ve been planning to install other wonders of modern technology, specifically radio towers for the use of our citizens. But currently we’ll have to make do with what we have for now, since we’re still learning after all~”
I catch myself, quickly reining in my enthusiasm I give the Mime a smaller smile. “That’s all I will say on the topic however, since I’m sure you have other plans for the day than to listen to liltle ol’ me go on.” My gaze drifts to her ears once more, the sudden urge to touch them returning. However I’m not someone who’ll act upon sudden urges, so with practiced self control I look back at her face. “So if you wish to run away, I won’t blame you~” I smirk playfully, to show that I’m only teasing. Said smile didn’t last for long, as my eyes widen in realization.
“Oh!” I exclaim, covering my mouth with a hand. “And it appears in my excitement I forgot to introduce myself, how inconsiderate of me~ I am Tetishuri Toa, the Face of Venhara.” I place both hands above my chest spike and give a small bow. “But I’m not one for titles, Teti will simply do for me.” With that I straighten myself, resting one of my hands on my hip. “Now that I’m not just a ‘tall black Lucario’ to you, you’re free to go as you please~”

Interlude - To Prepare to Persuade
[PoV: Pahaliah]
Many might question my choice of trying to convince Tetishuri to reconsider the challenge, for that Venya greatly deserves what’s coming to her.
I myself would agree, for I have little liking towards the girl. But upon seeing the tired state Jubei is in, I’ve decided to do this. We may not be close individuals, but I do care for her since she’s a comrade in arms. I look out for my fellows, no matter if they’re part of my team or not.
Finding Tetishuri’s chambers is definitely an issue, mostly due to the fact that I’ve never felt the need to seek her out while she’s inside. However the problem is easily solved by consulting with others, since due to her popularity many tend to be aware of her location...even to the point where’s it’s concerning.
Eventually I did arrive at the door, located in a very particular hall chosen specifically for VIP visitors of the GoT.
If I may be honest, I haven’t gone through how I’m specifically going to convince her. My choice to do this for Jubei was a spur-of-the-moment decision, so once I start talking to Tetishuri...I’m going to have to ‘wing it’.
Ha! Wing it! I am a bird!
Heh, enough jesting. I need to focus on the task at hand.
I raise one of my hands and give the wooden door two firm knocks, after that I wait patiently. It took only a few moments before the door opens.
“Greetings Tetishuri!” I smile. “I-” My words falter when my gaze falls upon her.
The Lucario is lacking in any sort of clothing, jewelry, or makeup from what I can see. Also upon also seeing that her body is soaking wet, which only means that she recently finished showering and hadn’t bothered drying herself before answering. “Why hello Pahliah, it’s a surprise to see you here.” She smiles back. “I see no need for you to stand out in the hall, so please come inside.” With a gesture of her hand she turns and walks back in, leaving me standing flabbergasted.
I feel my face burning, a sure sign that I am blushing heavily. Never have I ever felt so flustered in my life.
Come now Pahaliah, she invited you inside. It would be rude to continue standing here and balk at her body like a lovestruck fool.
Breathing in deeply through my mouth I steel my nerves and follow in after her, taking great care not to have my eyes linger on her frame.
Inside make sure look at everything inside her chambers except for Tetishuri herself, taking note of the fancy vanity of the room.
“It’s not often that you stop by.” Tetishuri speaks up, through the corner of my eyes I see her drying herself with a red towel. “It’s quite pleasant, you and I rarely talk.” She looks over to me. “Which is a shame, since I quite enjoy our conversations.”
“Is yond so?” I say with surprise, currently ‘admiring’ a painting as an excuse to not look at her.
“Most certainly.” She chuckles. “You’re quite a breath of fresh air compared to many others out there.” I hear a shuffling noise behind me, however a sudden tap on my shoulder causes me to jump.
“A-Aye?” I sputter, turning to her with an embarrassed look.
She’s standing right in front of me now, one arm holding the towel against her body. Now that I’m properly looking at her I notice that her hair lacks the braids and the golden pieces attached to the ends, however focusing more on her face I see that her expression possesses a concerned frown. “Pahaliah.” She says flatly. “Don’t think that I haven’t noticed your odd behavior, for I do.” The Lucario raises an eyebrow. “What’s the issue?”
I silently praise to the Lord for giving me a naturally red face, for it’s the sole reason why my blush isn’t incredibly obvious. “W-Well,” I try to begin. “Thee s-see-”
She tilts her head questioningly, her face growing impatient. “Out with it, Pahaliah.”
I take a deep breath. “’T's yond thou art wearing nay robes.” I tell her.
She blinks once, her face shifting to one of confusion. “...Perhaps rephrase that?”
I rub my face with a hand, rethinking the sentence. “C-Clothes, thou art not wearing any.”
Her eyebrows raise even further. “My clothes?” She looks down at herself before looking up again, her confusion only growing. “Are you flustered because I’m not wearing anything?”
Perhaps that’s not the only issue. “Yond and thou art soaking wet.” I add meekly.
“Well, I did just come out of the showe-” She begins only to stop, her eyes now watching me silently with a newfound fascination.
As the silence continues I find myself growing more uncomfortable, eventually ending with me averting my gaze from her.
“Pahaliah~” She purrs, the sheer amount of mischief in her tone making me shiver. “Am I reading you correctly~?”
I greatly regret my decision of coming here.
My silence however is apparently more than enough of an answer to her.
“Well I didn’t expect this.” She laughs. “I should’ve known, but it never crossed my mind!” I make the choice of sneaking a glance at her, which I see her grinning widely at me. “Are you attracted to women, Pahaliah?”
I let out an indignant squawk. “Nay!” I shout, yet far too loudly and quickly to be convincing. With how she’s smirking at me, I could only let out a defeated sigh. “Aye, although ‘t is both men and women.”
“Bisexual then, very interesting~” She hums in thought. “Nevertheless, there’s no shame in admitting it.”
“I feeleth nay shame f'r what I am!” I tell her firmly, but I feel my expression break. “Only...”
“That you’re standing right in front in all my glory” Tetishuri finishes, her smile never wavering. “I fully understand, you’re not the first after all~”
Wait...
...What?
“Nevertheless, I know you didn’t come to gawk at me ‘in the nude’.” She snickers. “Although I don’t necessarily understand that issue, since many Pokemon-” Her eyes examine me for a brief moment. “-including yourself - don’t tend to wear anything.” She shrugs her shoulders. “Perhaps it’s due to the fact that I tend to wear clothing most of the time, that and I was sopping wet. However I’m just sidetracking at this point, so what I’m originally saying is that you came to me to talk about something.”
She leans towards me, giving me a sultry smile. “I’m all ears~” She whispers to me before turning around, walking towards her dressing table. However the way she walked didn’t go unnoticed by me, specifically the way her hips swayed side to side.
...
...
Lord Arceus, please forgive me for my following thought.
Tetishuri.
You’re a fucking tease.

Barett had to bend his neck down a bit to look at the Lucario, rubbing his chin as he took in her appearence. “I failed history in school. But your attire makes you look like you came straight from a history book. There's old stories of a Lucario empire that existed long ago where I'm from, your attire reminds me of something they'd wear, except maybe less… Revealing.” The larger mon coughed. “Anyways… I'm curious about your origins. Or is that look of yours just apart of the job?”
[PoV: Unity]
It’s not often that others stand taller than me, for most cases it tends to be the other way around. But when the Pangoro approached me and stood two foot taller than my own self, I couldn’t help but smile at how unusual the situation is when I looked up.
However when he began speaking, his manner of speech as well as his choice of words drew my attention more than his actual height.
“Less revealing?” I repeat playfully, my smile widening into a full-blown grin. “Although I’ve never heard of Venharan culture being found in history books in other countries, I’m quite confident you may be mistaking us for another kingdom for we haven’t changed our style of attire for hundreds of years.” I place the palm of one of my hands on my chest, leaning back ever slightly. “It’s how our culture is, not including how when we brave the desert heat...it’s not much of a surprise on how little we wear~”
I laugh. “However you’re not the first one to ask about my origins, an adorable Ms. Mime beat you to the punch not too long ago.” I place a hand on my hip and widen my stance, cocking my head ever so slightly in a playful look. “However I wouldn’t mind explaining myself again, but perhaps I’ll go in a more different detail in order to educate you on our customs. That way if you ever do come to my homeland, you won’t break down into a nervous wreck due to how ‘revealing’ everyone’s clothing is~”
“Venhara is a desert kingdom, located quite a ways from here.” I begin explain, however stop for a moment when a thought occurs to me. “Now that I remember, a long time ago the clothing of Venharan woman would actually cover nearly all skin.” I shake my head slightly before continuing. “However our past rulers have started a trend of wearing less clothing for women, specifically because how men would wear less. It quickly became a sort of ‘trend’ that soon cemented itself into our culture, my own attire being a good example.” I gesture to my body with a hand. “I much prefer this decision, since the desert sun is quite hot after all. Our coat protects us from the possibility of sunburns, so the less clothing the better in my opinion.”
“Another interesting fact is how Venhara appreciates the natural beauty of the living body.” My smile shifts into a more suggestive smirk. “Funny enough, you’re somewhat correct about my outfit being related to my ‘job’. As the ‘Face of Venhara’, my job as an ambassador is to represent Venhara’s beauty. I’m setting an example of what to expect of Venhara and its people.” I wink at the Pangoro. “And I would say that I’ve been doing an excellent job, don’t you agree~?”
I don’t wait for a response from the Pangoro however. “But that’s the reason for my ‘revealing’ attire.” I continue, my expression returning back to the normal friendliness. “To our people, ‘revealing’ isn’t a term considered negative among us. So if you’re nervous with seeing skin, you’ll quickly get used to it since our people are very welcoming and understand, thus will help you ease into it.” I raise my chin, feeling my pride for my kingdom swell. “It is the greatest thing of Venhara, our acceptance towards others. It is one of the reasons why we’ve formed an alliance with the Guardians of Twilight, when they find artificial hybrids who have no place in society…we welcome them with open arms and grant them a place among our people.”
I pause, now realizing what slipped out of my mouth. “Well,” I cough awkwardly, covering my mouth with a fist. “I’m not quite sure if I was supposed to tell you that, but then again…the Guardians of Twilight are rather funny with what can and cannot be said. Nevertheless, I would appreciate if you didn’t repeat that part.”
With that out of the way I take a step back, crossing my arms just under my chest. “I do hope my brief explanation of our culture quelled your curiosity, even if I didn’t go into much detail on Venhara itself.” I chuckle. “And yet still, there’s still some things I’ve left out on our culture. But if you wish to learn more, all you have to do is ask.” I turn my head to the side, my eyes twinkling with mischief. “After all, Venhara holds no secrets~”

@theorangelopunny
[Continued from here]
I was prepared to set the girl down before she hopped off on her own accord, I could only watch with a mixture of confusion and amusement as she ran off before eventually coming back.
My surprise increases further when she offers the device in her hand to me, even when she described it I immediately recognized for what it is when my gaze focused on it.
“Oh? For me?” I kneel down and carefully accept it, my eyes studying the handheld. I’ve seen it numerous times during my travels, it’s an entertainment system meant to play...games of a sort. The signature also didn’t go unnoticed. My eyebrows raise slightly when I read the name, recognizing it to be hers. To put one’s own signature on a gift, it makes me wonder on how prideful this girl truly is.
My smirk warms to a kinder smile as I continue to look over the interesting contraption. “I must be frank with you, dear. Although I’ve learned a great deal about this ‘TS’, I’ve never really held much interest for them. The prospect of entertaining oneself while looking at a screen isn’t very...appealing.”
Despite my words, I tuck the ‘TS’ underneath the cloth around my waist. “Nevertheless...” I continue. “Even if I won’t use it, I know of someone who would greatly appreciate this gift.” I cover my mouth and snicker. “In fact, she has been showing a great deal of interest in them yet sadly has never gotten one for herself.” I shrug my shoulders. “But then again, when one is running a kingdom...it tends to be the least of your priorities.” I nod my head. “So even if I will not make use of your very kind gift, she will most certainly be excited when I return back to Venhara.”

Interlude - Strength in Unity
[PoV: Tetishuri]
Whenever I step into the open I feel the gazes of many fall upon my form, something I’ve grown accustomed to due to both my appearance and position. As the ‘Face of Venhara’, you’re left no choice but to adjust to the many eyes that watch and admire you.
I quite adore it actually, since I take great care of myself after all. If people admire me, then I’ll take it as a compliment that I’m doing a very good job in keeping up my appearance~
With a cool smile fixed on my face I continue down the hall, my movements containing purpose and confidence. I keep my head high, occasionally turning my smile to those around me.
A few brave individuals approached me in the past, either complimenting on my beauty or going as far as to offer to go out together for ‘coffee’ or ‘lunch’, which of course I would kindly decline.
There’s only one individual however who caught my interest enough for me to accept on their offer.
Speaking of said individual...
“Oh excuse me.” I ask a random Pokemon, giving him my kindest smile. “Could I perhaps ask you a question?”
“Hm?” He turns his attention to me only to balk, his eyes widening with apparent shock. “T-Tetishuri?!”
“Teti will do.” I titter. “But if I may ask you, would you know where Elio is?”
The Pokemon blinks a few times, his surprise turning to one of confusion. “...Elio?”
My smile shifts to a frown. “Elio? Eleodoro?” I tap my chin for a moment, recalling his alias. Eventually I snap my fingers, my smile returning. “Ahh, Sunchaser!”
Recognition flashes in his eyes. “Ah, THAT Elio!” They cross their arms. “I don’t really keep track of him, but last time I’ve heard...he and his partner are currently out on a mission assigned by Kaiser.”
Hmmm, what a shame.
“Mind if I ask why you’re looking for him?” He asks me.
“Why?” I couldn’t help but chuckle quietly. “He lost a bet we made and he owes me a meal, but perhaps that will have to wait for another time.”
“A bet?” He blinks. “What was the bet?”
My smile morphs into a playful smirk. “I’m afraid I can’t tell you that~” I singsong. “That’s between only the two of us I’m afraid.”
I continue on my way, leaving the confused Pokemon behind.
It truly is a shame that he’s away, since I was looking forward to teasing him. He was incredibly confident that he’d win, but the look on his face when I was the victor in the end truly was a priceless moment.
My ears swivel at the sound of commotion, specifically fighting. I turn my head in interest, in which I see that it’s coming from the sparring hall nearby. With my curiosity getting the better of me, I decide to investigate.
Inside the massive hall I see many Pokemon training and sparring with one another, ranging from new members practicing teamwork to more experienced veterans keeping their skills in shape.
Overseeing everything is a pair of Mr. Mimes, their specific task being to keep an eye on Pokemon as well as ‘blunt-ify’ weapons by placing a thin barrier over the blades, thus making it so that they can be used for training without causing any serious injuries.
It’s always quite fascinating to watch the various styles of combat, how each individual differs greatly from my own.
As my gaze drifts from one fight to the next, I feel it stop at a particular group, the Floral Triad.
From what I can see, Jubei and Kendra are currently sparring with each other while using their weapons, ‘blunt-ified’ of course. The twirling blades of the Medicham-hybrid against the bladed umbrella of Jubei is quite a sight, I’ll admit.
Noticing the absence of a particular Mienshao, I look a little ways off to see that she’s watching the two in the sidelines.
A mischievous thought crosses my mind, in which quickly spreads to my smile. With my lips now forming a smirk I decide to approach Venya, taking care to do so from behind so she doesn’t see me coming.
The moment I closed the distance, I took the chance to speak up. “Isn’t it fascinating?” I chuckle, leaning over slightly so that I’m speaking right into her ear.
This startles her to the point where she nearly leaps into the air in fright, with a snarl she quickly composes herself and turns to give me a rather unattractive glare. “What do you want?” She growls.
“Nothing in particular.” I grin, straightening myself before looking back at the match between her other two teammates. “I merely saw you sitting on your lonesome, so I thought that I’d stop by to check on you~”
She lets out a loud sniff before turning her back to me. “You and I both know that’s a complete lie.”
Perhaps it is, but I won’t make it obvious for her.
“Venya.” I frown, my tone containing disappointment. “I know you have a strong dislike towards me, but I must say that it’s getting ridiculous.” I sigh and shake my head. “I have no qualms with you, yet you continue to make things tense between us. I simply want to be on good terms after all.”
Her head snaps towards me. “Do you think I’m stupid?!” She hisses, baring her fangs at me. “You waltz around and draw as much attention to yourself as possible, always putting yourself into the spotlight.” Her hands clench. “You leave me in the dark, something I do NOT deserve. Yet you make it worse by going out of your way to rub it in, always ‘checking on me’ when in reality you only want to make yourself feel better about your position.”
Perhaps I am making it worse, however I’m not the one openly seeking such attention. She’s obviously an individual who constantly wants eyes on her, and she feels threatened by me due to how I can draw such attention by simply walking into a room while she needs to make a big scene.
But I’m no such individual who will simply bow down, if she wants attention...then she must earn it.
“Listen to yourself, Venya.” I grimace, crossing my arms right under my chest. “You do realize how ridiculous that sounds?”
I see one of her eyes twitch, a sure sign that I’ve successfully gotten under her skin.
“Ridiculous?!” She half-shouts. “You know what’s ridiculous? That I have to deal with you! You pretend to be the victim, making me look like the enemy when YOU are the one that’s responsible!” The Mienshao pulls out her fans, with a snap she opens them and draws their blades. “You need to be put in your place.”
Just what I wanted.
“Is that a challenge?” I smirk, reaching for my sheathed Khopesh’s hanging on my sides.
“Oh it is, bitch.” She hisses.
“Tsk tsk, such a foul tongue.” I say with another shake of my head, in one swift movement I draw my black blades and smile a mischievous smile. “It seems that you haven’t been disciplined properly~”
“I’m going to stop this right here.” The sudden voice of Jubei intervenes, the Gothitelle stepping in between us.
Apparently our ‘conversation’ had caught the attention of the other two members of the Floral Triad, seeing that they’ve stopped their spar. Their bodies show several fresh red marks from places where they’ve struck each other.
“Wish you didn’t, since I was looking forward to this cat fight.” Kendra grins, wiping off some sweat from her forehead.
Jubei flashes Kendra a look of disapproval before turning her focus back to me. “You can’t fool me, I know that you’re responsible for this.” She states, her unwavering eyes locked to my own.
“I’m not quite sure on what you mean, Jubei.” I shrug, keeping a cool smile. “I was merely stopping to say hello, you can’t blame me for that.”
"That’s a lie!” Venya screams, looking like she’s ready to pounce me. Jubei however blocks her path with her closed umbrella, her expression hardening.
“Although you both are in the wrong, you're the one who instigated this.” She continues, directing her words at me specifically. “You’re well aware of Venya’s dislike towards you, so be the more mature of the two and stop approaching her.”
With a sigh I sheath my weapons. “Fine, I will stop.” I relent, however my smirk returns in force. “However don’t forget, I accepted your challenge, dear Venya.” I tell her. “Since things are a bit heated between us at the moment, perhaps it would be best to put it off till tomorrow. That way we can have a friendly spar with each other with a clear mind, don’t you agree?” I cover my mouth with a hand, letting out a quiet chuckle. “Of course you don’t have to show up, I’ll understand if you don’t.”
With that I turn and walk away with a swagger in my step and a sway in my hips without giving her a chance to respond, relishing in the satisfaction of having the last word.
I know that she’ll be there, no matter what other people say.
She’s a very prideful individual, after all.

Act 3 - Ending Disputes
[Location: GoT HQ - Infirmary] [PoV: Jubei]
"Thank you.” I nod to Euterpe, the mermaid merely gives me a tired response before wheeling herself off.
When Venya chased after Kendra, I thought nothing of the two. I knew that they would probably get into some sort of fight, but I assumed that it wouldn’t be too serious.
I was wrong.
Recently I was informed that the two were actually sent to the infirmary for treatment, even if the injuries themselves are very minor...I still couldn’t believe them.
Keeping my breathing and expression steady I approach the room where they’re occupying, I didn’t even need to open the door to hear bickering. Not even bothering to knock, I push it open. Thankfully, whatever argument they were having ended immediately after that.
The two of them are sitting on opposite chairs, their bodies sporting more bruises than I can count as well as the occasional bandage and tear in their clothes.
I close the door behind me in order to prevent others outside from listening, or at least...listening clearly.
Silently I look at them both, my expression containing no emotion. The longer I look at them the more nervous they become, eventually...I feel my eye twitch.
At that point, I began to speak.
“I...am disappointed in the both of you.” I begin tensely, my eyes narrowing into a glare.
Venya opens her mouth. “I-”
“Don’t...even...speak.” I interrupt with a growl, the sound making her immediately shut up. Kendra also leans back at my display, feeling put-off at how my normally calm visage is broken away to anger.
“You both...are adults!” My gaze flicks between them, daring them to even move. “If you two truly desired to fight each other, you could’ve taken it to the sparring center.” With my hands shaking, I quickly cross them over my chest to contain myself. “But when Kaiser approached me about how you two began fighting in a hall filled with people and how she personally had to break it up...”
Gritting my teeth, I let out another growl of frustration. “Do you realize how embarrassed I felt? The fact that my OWN team became violent with each other in a public place where others could potentially get hurt?!” I grind my heels into the floor-tiles. “Do you know why they sent you here?”
Neither of them say anything, so I continue. “They didn’t send you here to take care of your injuries, they sent you here to get you out of the damn hall so you don’t hurt anyone.”
“I’ve had enough of this, at this point I feel like a mother who’s trying to separate bickering TODDLERS. You both are adults, act like it!”
I shift my glare to Venya. “You need to take your damn pride and shove it, stop crying over petty things. Getting offended by almost everything is absolutely childish, grow...a...spine!”
I turn to Kendra, my anger just as strong. “And you...” I hiss. “Stop...instigating...these...fights. You sure as hell know that what you’re doing and saying will rile her up, so you need to be the bigger person and STOP. You go out of your way to start conflict, so end this right here and now.”
With my arms still crossed over my chest I turn my attention back to both of them together. “I don’t care if you don’t like each other, you both will act civilized. Because if you don’t? You can get KICKED out of the Guardians of Twilight, and you know what that will do to me?”
At this point, I feel myself let out a shuddering breath. My anger is spent at this time, but my emotions are still running high. Places my fingers on my eyes I start breathing steadily to control myself.
“Just...stop it.” I sigh, slumping against the door. “I don’t mind the occasional argument, you two don’t even need to be the best of friends. I just want you both to get along, before things are taken too far.”
The two share a look between each other before looking back at me, but between them...Kendra decides to speak first.
“Yeah...I’m sorry Jubei.” The Medicham hybrid sighs, awkwardly rubbing her forehead with the back of her hand. “I’m sorry for putting us in these spots. I’ll work on getting better about it, I’ll try to pull back on provoking people.”
Venya slowly nods. “And...I will try to...” She clenches her eyes, as if pulling strength from her very soul to speak the next words. “...swallow my pride.” She lets out a tired breath, as if simply uttering those words are taxing on her. “I’m sorry, I will try to be better.”
Despite what I’m feeling, I manage to smile weakly. “Thank you.” I let out another sigh, this one more relieved than anything. “Just...do your best, I want us to stay together after all.”
[Location: GoT HQ - Colossus’ Office] [PoV: Third Person]
“It has been a long time, Teddy Sherbet.” The Aggron chuckles, resting his hands on his reinforced desk.
“And same to you, Colossus.” The black Lucario smiles, not even batting an eye at the intentional mess-up with her name.
Frowning slightly at the lack of a reaction, the leader of the Night Wardens continues. “You already know the reason why you’re in my office, so let’s cut to the chase.” He dexterously grabs a pen and a blank sheet of paper. “What is the status of Venhara? Any threats that have appeared? Anything unusual that might need tabs kept on?”
“Besides the...’freedom fighters’ causing a stir, there hasn’t been many difficulties in Venhara.” Tetishuri sighs, her normally serene expression shifting to one of disappointment. “It is...saddening, for some people to abandon their teachings of acceptance.”
Colossus glances up from the notes he’s written, his own expression becoming one of disappointment. “It has to do with the hybrids, correct?” He asks.
She nods. “Sadly...yes. Even though many of our people have welcomed them with open arms, there are several who...don’t agree with letting them into our land.” Tetishuri rests her elbow on her chair and leans her head against her fist. “Venhara is a kingdom that takes pride in their openness and acceptance. We welcome all, no matter their heritage or creed. When there are Pokemon out there that have no place in society, we will be the first ones to give them such a place.” She shakes her head. “It’s disappointing when some people chose to abandon these ideals for selfishness.”
“It is a shame.” Colossus nods solemnly. “For a whole kingdom to work to share these thoughts, it’s...very impressive.” He shakes his head. “However there are always those out there who will think otherwise, and will force their ideals upon others with...extreme prejudice.” He begins writing again. “Will you require assistance in dealing with these individuals?”
Tetishuri shakes her head. “No, the Queen’s Guard is doing a splendid job in hunting them down before they cause too much harm. I doubt they’ll be too much of a threat for long.”
Nodding, Colossus adds a few more notes. “I see... Is there anything else that we should know about?”
She rubs her chin with a hand. “Actually...there is something.”
Colossus looks up, giving her a questioning look.
“Around six days ago...there was a sudden lightning storm a long ways from our city.” Her lips twist into a confused frown. “There was no warning, and it lasted only for an hour before vanishing without a trace.”
The Aggron blinks at this, feeling just as confused. “No warning...and without a trace?” He repeats slowly. “That is...very unusual.”
Tetishuri nods. “Yes, we’ve even sent out some of our guards to investigate the land it appeared in.” She reaches into the lower half of her outfit and pulls out a folded piece of paper, upon unfolding it she reveals it to be a photo. “Although they didn’t find any objects or Pokemon that could be the cause, they did find some...rather unusual footprints in the sand located right in the center of where the storm was located in.”
Colossus takes the photo and inspects it. What he was looking at is...unusual indeed, since he doesn’t recognize the footprints of what they belong to. It seems to be somewhat triangular, but with each side branching out to what might be talons or nails. However one thing that makes it odd is symmetrical and even the footprints are, reminding him of the feet of Steel-type Pokemon. The way the footprints are in the ground shows that it must be something that walks on two legs, yet...he knows nothing of the sort that would fit that category.
“I think this may be something to be looked into.” I nod. “Did you find out where they led?”
Tetishuri shakes her head. “They went out for a ways before suddenly...ending, as if whatever made them disappeared out of thin air. From what our guards said, they looked as if they were very recent since they haven’t even begun to be worn away from the wind”
The Aggron rubs his own chin. “In that case, I will talk to Sheila to send a Night Watcher over to investigate. Even if it might end up being nothing, it’s always safe to be sure.”
“Thank you.” The Lucario says with a bow of her head.
“Think nothing of it.” Colossus waves her off. “We’re here to help after all, the GoT are allies with Venhara after all.”
Even though on the outside, he appeared calm. But in reality...he wis feeling very uneasy.
The sudden lightning storm, the odd footprints, how they ended without a trace...
It may simply be a coincidence, but all of this happened two days after the sightings of that Scizor...
Could they be connected? He doesn’t know, but to be safe...it will need to be investigated. For if this is another threat like the Scizor, then it must be dealt with immediately.

Act 3 - The Carnation Bumping Into Unity
[Location: GoT HQ] [PoV: Venya]
MIENSHAO BOUNTY HUNTER MURDERED BY THE INFAMOUS SERIAL KILLER ‘THE RHAPSODIST’
I read the headlines multiple times through narrowed eyes.
Shala, that is the Mienshao’s name. I knew her...because she’s my sister.
She and I...never saw eye to eye. She took the path of becoming a bounty hunter, while I chose to travel the world before eventually joining the Guardians of Twilight.
When I heard of her death, I wasn’t surprised...and I didn’t grieve. I expected it, since her almost crazed desire for hunting others down would eventually be her end. But to die to a serial killer? That...I didn’t expect.
I didn’t go to her funeral, I stayed here. I didn’t want to see my sister like that, to ruin the image I have painted of her.
Tempted to crumble the paper up, I instead carefully place it back into the drawer of the nightstand. Taking my two bladed fans off the piece of furniture I tuck them into the pockets located inside my dress, properly concealing them.
I slide out of the bed and check my hair in the mirror, much to my pleasant surprise I don’t see a single strand out of place. With a smile I give a nod and exit the room with a flair, smiling a confident smile.
There’s no reason to dwell on what happened to my sister, instead I must focus on the present. I need to show the world how great I am after all, and I won’t be able to properly do so while being gloomy.
Walking down the hall, I hear a conversation going on in one of the lounges. Normally I wouldn’t care for such a trivial thing, but their words seem to have caught my attention.
“-it’s been a long while since she’s come here, I’m actually very excited!”
“I know right? I don’t believe I’ve managed to get a good look at her last time, so I’m going to take advantage of this!”
With my curiosity piqued, I decide to turn and walk into the room. The source of said conversation is between a male Machoke and a male Raichu. “Hello boys~” I grin. “Would you mind telling me who you’re talking about? I’m awfully curious on who this visitor is.”
The two blink at me with surprise, obviously not expecting my radiance. Although eventually the Machoke manages to regather his thoughts, his excited smile returning.
“We’re talking about Tetishuri, the leader of Venhara Sands.” He answers me. “She’s visiting the HQ for the week.”
At that moment I feel my smile vanish, an ugly scowl quickly replacing my expression. Without I word I turn and stomp off, no longer caring about their discussion.
Tetishuri, also known as Unity.
She’s the ambassador of Venhara, a desert country located near the land that the GoT HQ is located on. Due to the alliance between Venhara and the GoT, they’ve trained her and a few people to fight any unnatural threats that would be located on their land. So although she’s an ambassador, she’s also the leader of her own Night Warden team as well.
And...I...hate...her...guts.
Wherever she goes she draws attention, always in the spotlight because she’s ‘beautiful’ and ‘exotic.
They don’t know anything about real beauty, I’m a perfect representation of it and yet they don’t even give me the attention I deserve.
When I round the corner I suddenly faceplant into something very soft, making me let out a muffled exclamation of surprise.
My vision consists only of white, gold, and black. Whatever that my face is touching...it feels like silken cloth and warm fur.
“Well isn’t this a surprise~” A velvety, feminine voice speaks. She sounds...different, containing a faint accent that shows that she’s from a very different land.
I blink once before fully realizing that my face is actually right in the chest of whoever I ran into, with a bright red face I immediately jump back with an unladylike yelp.
The person I bumped into? It was no other than Tetishuri herself...and I faceplanted right into her bosom.
The ‘Ambassador of Venhara’ is a tall, ashen black Lucario with a very shapely figure. her attire consists of white and gold silk that contrasts well with her dark coat. Her outfit itself leaves much of her skin uncovered, consisting of a two-piece that leaves her stomach exposed. Everything about her screams ‘Egyptian’, from the blue mascara under her eyes to her braided black hair ending in long gold beads.
Hanging on her sides are a pair of golden sheathes, containing oddly shaped weapons that I’ve forgotten the name of. The biggest part of those weapons that stick out are the pommels, how that they are made of expertly cut sapphires.
“It’s a good thing you bumped a little to the right.” She chuckles, her expression that of an amused smirk. “If it were to be straight-on, then we would have an injury on our hands.”
I could only sputter in response, unable to form a coherent word. On one hand I’m embarrassed at the fact that I actually bumped right into her...there, but on the second hand she’s correct...for if I bumped into her straight-on then I would find myself impaled by her chest spike.
“Hmm...I believe I remember you.” She muses, placing a black hand on her hip. “Venya, if I’m not mistaken? I remember seeing you the last time I was here.” Her smile widens. “And the glare you were giving me~”
Feeling my fangs grind together, I cross my arms over my chest. “What of it, Tetishuri?” I growl. “Not happy that not everyone is ‘enthralled’ by your looks?”
She lets out a snicker. “Enthralled? I wouldn’t necessarily put it that way. However to answer your question, I actually quite welcome it...since it’s a nice change from the other looks I receive.” The Lucario grins, revealing her pearly white teeth. “And please, call me Teti~”
There are SO many things I want to say to her, but the real frustrating part is that I can’t seem to even start. I’m forced to stand there and silently fume.
“I’d love to continue this conversation, but I’m afraid I have a meeting with Colossus.” She shakes her head. Tetishuri walks past me...only to stop a little ways behind. “And you should feel honored.” She says back to me, her tone dripping with mirth. “There are many who would kill to bump into the breast of Unity~”
With that she continues on, leaving me seething.
...
That...bitch...
With a loud growl I continue on, since I’m not going to embarrass myself further by going after her.
Instead...I’m going to find Jubei, since talking to her will at least get my mind off of damn Tetishuri. I know I’ll need it, since I’m going to have to deal with her for a whole week.
