Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing Flies to More Platforms July 15
Tumblr media
The Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing game pretty much sums itself up well in the title alone. Originally released for Oculus Quest last October, the virtual reality outing will soon be casting its spell on additional platforms, with a July 15 release lined up for PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, and SteamVR.
Featuring English and Japanese language options, the PSVR version will be $39.99 and the Oculus/SteamVR versions will be $29.99.

Developer UNIVRS describes VR Broom Racing:
Join Little Witch Academia leading ladies Akko, Lotte, and Sucy, each voiced in both English and Japanese by their voice actors from the anime, as a new student at Luna Nova Witchcraft Academy. Learn to race on a customizable magic broom and purify ghostly spirits on the campus grounds across a dozen levels, featuring improved visuals compared to the Oculus Quest 2 launch title.
After experiencing the magic of the single-player campaign, engage in extracurricular activities in the multiplayer mode, complete with cross-platform support between Oculus Store, PlayStation VR, and SteamVR versions. Seek some extra credit in Hard Mode, where rival witches and restless spirits will deliver a new challenge to experienced spellcasters. All of this takes place in one of the smoothest virtual reality experiences available, thanks to UNIVRS’ patent-pending motion reduction technology.
The Little Witch Academia anime started with a popular short film, which led to a Kickstarter that raised more than $625,000 to fund a second film. Supporters of these magical witches continued to share the love even after the 25-episode Netflix series: Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing raised more than $165,000 in total between another Kickstarter campaign and popular Japanese crowdfunding site Campfire.
The team bringing Studio TRIGGER’s beloved series to VR includes several anime veterans, such as Junichi Yamamoto, the director of the opening and ending scenes of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and storyboard artist on Batman Ninja. In addition to the original voice cast, TV series songwriter / composer Yuiko Ohara and singer YURiKA reunite to collaborate on a new theme song, “Dream Flight,” exclusive to Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing.

Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing will launch for Oculus Quest via the Oculus Quest Store on October 13 for $29.99, followed by PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, and Steam VR in early 2021, developer UNIVRS announced.
“The fans are the lifeblood of the Little Witch Academia series, and that principle guided us at UNIVRS when creating VR Broom Racing,” said UNIVRS COO Naoya Koji in a press release. “We strived to make this as accessible an experience as possible for the fans, even if it’s their first virtual reality experience, and know we will live up to their expectations.”
Here is an overview of the game, via UNIVRS:
Enroll as a guest student at the famous Luna Nova Witchcraft Academy, then ride a broom and soar through the skies across more than 10 tracks. Partner with fan-favorite Little Witch Academia characters such as Akko, Lotte, and Sucy, voiced in both English and Japanese by the anime’s voice actors. Race through the skies in first person perspective with UNIVRS, Inc.’s patent-pending motion sickness reduction technology.
Unfold a new story and dive into the Little Witch Academia universe in immersive virtual reality. Pair up with fellow students while purifying ghosts, and customizing brooms. Join real-world friends in online multiplayer modes and take in the splendor of the Luna Nova Witchcraft Academy.
This adaptation of Studio Trigger’s hit anime series features veterans of anime and gaming such as director Junichi Yamamoto, whose past positions include opening and ending movie director on The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and storyboard artist of Batman Ninja, and sound supervisor Yukio Nagasaki (Love Live!, Arc the Lad). Along with the returning voice cast, TV series songwriter / composer Yuiko Ohara and singer YURiKA return with a new theme song “Dream Flight,” exclusive to this game.
Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing sees the fulfillment of a pair of successful 2019 crowdfunding campaigns, with more than $165,000 raised in total between Kickstarter, and popular Japanese crowdfunding site Campfire. The Little Witch Academia series has always been driven by fan support, with a short film raising $625,518 from 7,938 backers, and its success leading to a 25-episode Netflix series.
